In this PWTorch Dailycast series titled "Worse or Better," Josh White and Stephanie Chase discuss one aspect of today's pro wrestling scene and compare it to a previous era or eras and decide if today is... worse or better. This week, Chris Lansdell joined Josh to offer some expanded thoughts and different takes on music in wrestling. Chris shared some of his favorite entrance songs and music he's discovered via wrestling before jumping into purposely annoying entrance themes used for heels. The discussion covered some ROH and NJPW themes and moved on to the greatness of both black and gold NXT and Slim Jims.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/pwtorch-dailycast--3276210/support.

300 episodes. 9 years. And for this one, we're flipping the script! Chris is hijacking the podcast and hosting, and I'm in the guest chair for the first time. This felt like the perfect way to mark a milestone of one of my favorite parts of my job. The podcast will turn nine years old this summer, and looking back at who I was when I recorded episode one versus who I am sitting here at episode 300 is… a lot. Chris asks me the questions I usually ask other people, and naturally, it gets deep fast (including some of the most honest thoughts I've probably ever shared about the fitness industry). Here's what we get into: What I believed about my purpose 9 years ago that was completely wrong, and why I'm grateful it was The shadow side of being "10 toes down" and how bodybuilding taught me to recognize my edge before I fly over it How I transitioned from competitor identity to high-standard lifestyle fitness (and why it took 3 full years) Self-awareness: where it started, how social media criticism shaped it, and the difference between healthy self-questioning and keeping yourself small In-groups and why niche communities are powerful until they forget they overlap The body positivity over-correction that silenced great fat loss coaches and gave the microphone to terrible ones Why fitness professionals who use fat people as clickbait are bad at marketing (and bad at their jobs) The "skinny tok" trend and how over-correction in the fitness space helped it play out in our specific niche Do people actually want to change, or do they want to feel like the kind of person who wants to change? The "chocolate chip in the cookie of the world" and why you don't have to change the world to change lives First and foremost: thank you. Whether you've been here since 2017 or you just found the show, thank you for making this possible. 300 episodes in nine years. I haven't been perfect, but I've been consistently consistent. And if there's one thing I can encourage you to do: if you have something you love, something you're passionate about, something you think you can make an impact doing, just go do it. It would be an insult to me and however many hours you've spent listening to this show if you didn't. -- This episode is brought to you by AX3 Life. A massive game from the top line of Nick Suzuki, Juraj Slafkovsky and Cole Caufield; who delivered a hat trick performance.
Episode Summary: This episode tackles the troubling legacy of Cesar Chavez amidst recent allegations of sexual assault and misconduct, which have shaken the progressive and environmental spheres. Host Chris, who shares a personal history influenced by Chavez, critically examines these revelations, comparing past admiration with the need to hold figures accountable for their actions. The episode also navigates the broader implications on movements Chavez impacted, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging both the achievements and failings of public figures. In a candid exploration, Chris discusses the complexities surrounding hero worship in social justice movements, particularly when such icons are involved in controversy. With references to other figures such as Ed Abbey and David Brower, the episode unravels the persistent issue of separating an individual's contributions from their personal failings. The episode spotlights how such revelations impact the perception of someone like Chavez, who played a significant role in farm labor rights but whose personal actions warrant serious condemnation. Chris concludes with a call for reflection on leadership dynamics within advocacy movements and how they must evolve to prevent future transgressions. Key Takeaways: The episode explores the lasting impact of recent allegations against Cesar Chavez, which profoundly affect his legacy within activist movements. Chris discusses the challenges in separating Chavez's contributions to labor rights from his personal misconduct and abuse. Examination of leadership within progressive movements highlights the dangers of a centralized cult of personality. The discussion offers insights into how allegations of misconduct by leaders affect the morale and trajectory of advocacy efforts. The host emphasizes the need for inclusive and responsible leadership that prioritizes the community's cause over individual recognition. Notable Quotes: "Heroes are really problematic. I keep learning this over and over again." "The decline of the UFW is a testament to the failings of leadership that centered ego and image over collective goals." "When leaders put their self-interests first, they sabotage the very movements they claim to champion." "Ask yourself how much more good Chavez might have been responsible for if he had not been a rapist." Resources: For more on the Cesar Chavez revelations, see This article by David Morales at Three Sonorans. Three Sonorans also addresses criticism of Dolores Huerta's role in all this. Here's the UFW Foundation's comment on the revelations. Need help? Visit IASP for crisis support or call 800-656-HOPE. Suggestions from the host include exploring the resources available at RAINN. "The Good Listening To" Podcast with me Chris Grimes! (aka a "GLT with me CG!")
Send us a textWelcome to the enchanting world of 'Legacy Life Reflections' a storytelling sanctuary unlike any Podcast you've encountered before! Your Host, Motivational Comedian Chris Grimes has crafted a unique narrative journey—one that begins in your personal "Clearing," that special place where mental clutter falls away and inspiration flows freely. The magic of this format lies in its thoughtful structure. Picture a tree appearing in your clearing—your tree—which Chris will gently shake to discover which storytelling "apples" naturally fall. Through the "5-4-3-2-1" framework, you'll explore four influences that shaped you, three sources of inspiration, two irresistible distractions (your "squirrels"), and one quirky fact nobody could possibly know until you share it. This structured yet flexible approach creates the perfect balance between guidance and discovery. As your journey continues, you'll explore moments of personal "alchemy and gold"—times when purpose and flow aligned to create your happiest experiences. You'll receive a celebratory cake (yes, an actual cake gets sent to guests!), and place a metaphorical cherry on top through sharing inspirational quotes and advice you'd offer to your younger self. The experience culminates with reflections on legacy, borrowing from Shakespeare's wisdom that "all the world's a stage," to contemplate how you'd most like to be remembered. Before departing this storytelling landscape, you'll "pass the golden baton" to someone else whose story deserves this same thoughtful exploration.Whether you're a potential guest or an avid listener, Legacy Life Reflections offers a refreshingly meaningful alternative to standard interview formats. Subscribe now to experience storytelling that transforms personal narratives into lasting legacies and discover what stories might fall when your own tree is shaken.Tune in next week for more stories of 'Distinction & Genius' from The Good Listening To Show 'Clearing'.
