New episodes released Thursday. If you're in the UK, for more BBC podcasts listen on BBC Sounds: bbc.in/3UjecF5 The guys are disappointed not to find Aisling Bea, but very happy they spoke to Joe Lycett instead. Well, Spencer did! And he read the research that Phil did for him, lol. Possibly Spencer's best ever celeb interview! Jamie's curious about how Spencer deals with weddings (& the small talk therein). Phil has a new game for Spencer. Jamie has a new fact. Plenty of you have been in-touch with challenge suggestions for Spencer. Emma isn't quite Listener of the Week. Why not voice-note us? When you have a world-renowned portraitist like Joe Lycett in the building, you get easels, paints and canvas out and indulge in a bit of dual-portraiture. We sat down with the mischievous comedian to discuss the unfinished genius of Truss's premiership, where his activism comes from and why even those of us who think we can't paint, actually can*. *subjective NB: Given the visual nature of this interview, we would recommend watching on Spotify, YouTube or Waterstones.com
Joanne McNally is back on the investigative trail…. and with the Avril / Melissa theory no longer giving her sleepless nights, she's keen to find a new story to get her teeth into. Helped by her loyal gaggle of fans, she draws up a list of options, and then sets down with friend and ‘original sleuth' Joe Lycett to go through them. Top of her list, after some deliberation is a story from the late 90's… about a soft toy, the Furby, which took over the world and became the no.1 gift for Christmas. But Joanne has found headlines that claim the toy was banned, suspected of being a spy, linked to international espionage… there couldn't be any truth to it… could there? As her journey begins, Joanne visits a Furby collector to try and understand their capabilities. She reaches out to the manufacturers to ask them if the claims are true. And she has an uncomfortable bonding experience with a Furby all of her own.

This Ep was recorded the morning of the election announcement so the Trawl ladies are busy collating all the best reactions for the next episode. This one unpacks a strange week for Suella but before they get into that, they begin their trawl with a wonderful moment from Carol Vorderman who had the Joe Lycett audience whooping with delight. The students at Cambridge were much quieter when GB News and Braverman turned up to ask them why they were protesting about Palestine. Words have power but sometimes, so does silence. Although the guest she confronted in the GB News about the same topic, was gloriously outspoken and for once, it seems Suella didn't have much to answer back with. Then it's onto some of the reaction from the same news outlet regarding Ofcom's finding that their ‘Ask Rishi' forum was impartial. Lastly, Jemma and Marina discuss the fact that Jeremy Clarkson has been voted sexiest man by the female users of a certain dating site. The mind boggles. RETRO RHLSTP #70 - Esme - Rich has found the mother of all stones and is banging on about that as usual (don't worry he will syphon this off into a podcast you don't have to listen to soon). His guest is RHLSTP super fan and fly in the ointment Joe Lycett. They discuss the beauty of being allowed to be silly in a serious world, whether Tom Daley should be sponsored to go to Pride, the Daily Express making mountains out of molehills, how a TV chef did not appreciate a joke about chicken jerk and how envy can eat you up and how age can soften its grip. We also learn about Joe's new projects, including the Great British Sewing Bee, and hear from Esme, one of the judges of that show, who is in our front row and is rather well refreshed after a day out with Joe. Joe Lycett is in the studio with Pat and Adams this week, and it gets quite messy quite quickly. With Janet newly installed as leader of the SW11 gang, the criminals pivot from drug dealing to phone scams and Donna discovers a hidden talent for the artform. Clarke unexpectedly turns up in a new role at the police station, leaving Nish feeling abandoned and alone in his fuggy hillock house. Meanwhile Lawrence is not taking his defeat in the Leader-Off well, and decides that revenge - like pizza - is a dish best served delivered to the doorstep.A true(ish) crime podcast, which sees undercover cop Pat Springleaf (James Acaster) share police wire recordings from the biggest case of his career: working to infiltrate and bring to justice the notorious SW6 gang.Back in 2013, ex-conman-turned-undercover-cop Pat was in the middle of a career-defining undercover gig - but problems beset him on all sides: the gang are getting suspicious; his wife wants a divorce; the police are demanding results; and his ex partner in crime is blackmailing him. Not an ideal situation for someone with a burning need to please absolutely everybody. In 2023, meanwhile, Pat and his producer Adams play clips to studio guests as they unpack the criminal hijinks that launched the career of the man now reasonably widely-known as James Acaster.Featuring:Chloe Petts - NanceChris Day - Train AnnouncerDomhnall Gleeson - LawrenceEvelyn Mok - herselfFreya Parker - StaceyJason Forbes - Rich GuysleyKath Hughes - Detective AdamsKemah Bob - DonnaMiles Jupp - himselfNatalie Cassidy - JanetNathaniel Metcalfe - HueyNish Kumar - himselfPat Cahill - RegPhil Dunning - DeclanPhil Wang - Detective Clarke BurbridgeSara Pascoe - herselfSharon D Clarke - Police Chief AngelaSindhu Vee - Sitawith studio guest Joe LycettExtra jokes by Celya AB, Jen Ives, Ken Cheng, Matthew Crosby, Rose Johnson and Toussaint DouglassOriginal Music by NNAMDÏSound design by Charlie Brandon KingAssistant Producers - Katie Sayer and Mikaela CarmichaelProduced by Lyndsay FennerA Mighty Bunny Productionwww.springleafpodcast.com / www.mightybunny.co.uk Hosted on Acast. King Charles' first State Opening of Parliament as monarch, provides plenty of pomp, pageantry and politics for Nish and Coco to get stuck into. It's a spectacle that throws up lots of questions, including who is Black Rod, and why does an MP get taken hostage by the Palace? As the Government presents its legislative agenda for the year ahead, we ask why is it so slim? Could it signal an early election? Nish and Coco are also incredulous as to why, with so much that needs fixing in this country, valuable space in the speech is given over to cracking down on pedicabs!!The New Statesman's politics correspondent Zoë Grünewald is on hand to explain the splits in Labour over Gaza, as we see the first resignation from Keir Starmer's front bench. We also discuss why so much political hot air is being expelled over this weekend's pro-Palestinian protest - is it really disrespectful to have an anti-war march on Remembrence weekend? One of the loudest critics has of course been Home Secretary Suella Braverman - following a string of controversial pronouncements, we wonder if she's actually trying to get herself sacked by Rishi Sunak?Plus in our Hero and Villain of the Week section, find out how a bowl of Potpourri helped raise £50,000 for charity, and why an underwear magnate could soon be under a vest! #470 Right Little Puck - Richard has some more incredible Birmingham facts to share with his Brummie audience. His guest is RHLSTP super fan and mischievous imp, Joe Lycett. They reveal how Richard was one of the few people who was in on the secret of his David Beckham money shredding, the surprising group of people who were offended by this stunt, whether accusations of Qatar-based hypocrisy hold any water (and was it RHLSTP that led to them?) why he wanted to make his new show in Birmingham and gave a leg up to local young people, why he still lives in Birmingham even though he doesn't have to, putting on an art exhibition with his mum, why he might be taking Harry Styles to the small claims court and the importance of enjoying success whilst it's happening and whether he fears the late middle-age breakdown that can afflict people in show business.Come and see RHLSTP on tour http://richardherring.com/rhlstpSUPPORT THE SHOW!Watch our TWITCH CHANNELSee extra content at our WEBSITE Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/rhlstp. Alastair Campbell - the spin doctor-turned-podcaster - tells Matt and Alice speak why he thinks Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng were a “lethal combination” and describes the moment he felt Truss was really losing the plot. Plus comedian and activist Joe Lycett takes listeners inside his infamous appearance on the Laura Kuenssberg show and tells Matt and Alice why he's trying (and quite clearly failing) to stop talking about the former leader a year after her tumultuous turn in Number 10.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
