In this episode, I talk about six strategies that work for anyone, whether it's the end of the school year for you, for your kids (Maycember anyone?), or just a hectic time for any reason. 1) Build in time for breaks, even super short ones. Maybe re-think what a "break" is (folding laundry and listening to podcasts?). 2) Make a schedule plan that you can actually follow. Maybe undersell yourself (write down 5 things on your list instead of 10 at least sometimes- I promise, it feels great)! 3) Forgive yourself when things take 2x as long as you thought. (Also, maybe it means you really do need a rest). 4) Do not let sleep slide. If you have to, let cleaning or laundry or something else slide, but not sleep. I promise, it will make everything worse if you don't sleep. 5) Let your people know you are going through a tough time and ask for help! You might just be pleasantly surprised. 6) Come up with a plan for when you are "done" with the hectic time and make yourself take a day off or rest in some real way. For me, I need my plan to be vague or my "senioritis" will get even worse, but it's up to you. Put it in your calendar if it helps you focus! Good luck!
Hectic times leads to us recording on a Saturday to release on a Monday. And notes were left in the car and going off an older person's memory of what we recorded 3 days ago. There were talks of the madness in the world. There were entertainment rabbit holes we dove down. I'm sure some random side conversations as well. We apologize for the brief brief summary... wait... Spaceballs 2 was also discussed. That's all we got here, be safe and we'll get back to you later this week.
Spring sports season is in full swing, and if you're a busy parent, professional, or both — you know exactly what that means. Weekends away, packed schedules, and a constant pull between staying on track and surviving the chaos. In this episode, I'm sharing exactly how I plan ahead to protect my health and wellness routine when I'm away from home. From color-coded calendars and front-loaded workouts to packing my Shaklee Life Shake in Ziploc bags and pairing it with my Blendjet, I walk you through the small, intentional choices that keep me feeling my best — even when I'm working from a hotel room in the middle of a tournament weekend.I also talk about something I wish I'd learned years ago: giving yourself grace. There was a time I'd drag myself to a hotel gym at 5 a.m. on a family vacation. These days, I've learned that consistency doesn't mean perfection — it means having a plan, doing the best you can with what's in front of you, and not measuring your progress against anyone else's.Whether you're navigating a busy travel season, a demanding work stretch, or just trying to keep your routine intact through real life, this episode is full of practical strategies you can use right away.In this episode:How I use my color-coded Google Calendar to plan weeks in advanceMy approach to front-loading workouts before travel weekendsWhat I pack to stay on track with nutrition and supplementsWhy I've stopped chasing 10,000 steps a day (and what I aim for instead)How I scale down my morning routine without abandoning itThe mindset shift that's made the biggest difference: progress over perfectionCheck out my favorite workouts and supplements that keep me on track:https://linktr.ee/lauracatina

Inside Carolina senior reporter Greg Barnes joins Tommy Ashley to discuss the early days of Michael Malone's coaching tenure at North Carolina, emphasizing the hectic nature of the transfer portal and recruiting. While acquiring talent in the transfer portal is of the utmost importance, Barnes and Ashley go first to the finalizing of the coaching staff and the importance to nail down the best fits and coaches for those key roles that will go beyond next season. As Barnes points out, Sean May and Pat Sullivan are key for continuity around the program and the supporters of the program but hiring successful college coaches for the other seats on the bench will be beneficial in all areas. The conversation touches on the financial aspects of roster building, mentioning North Carolina's previous spending of $14 million and the need for smart investments. They also discuss the balance between securing top talent and role players, drawing parallels to NBA strategies. The discussion underscores the continuous effort required in college recruiting and the evolving landscape of player compensation. Episode 298 of The Rainmaking Podcast features Scott Love in conversation with Eva Wisnik on how to fit business development into an already hectic schedule—especially for busy law firm partners and associates. Eva explains that many lawyers are trained to “issue spot” (anticipate what can go wrong), which is great for client service but can sabotage rainmaking unless it's replaced with an opportunity-focused mindset. She reframes BD as “selling through substance”: asking better questions, showing genuine curiosity, and positioning outreach as problem-solving rather than “sales.” Her core message is that most BD resistance is fear (rejection, failure, imposing), and the antidote is shifting from self-focused thinking to client-centered value. Eva then gets tactical: build a pipeline by staying in touch with intent and consistency, because meaningful business relationships often take 2–5 years to convert. She recommends simple, repeatable habits—“one action a day” (send a thoughtful note, share a relevant article, set a meeting, register for a conference), plus tracking micro-actions to build momentum. Practical examples include handwritten notes, small meaningful gifts, and “thinking of you” outreach tied to something useful. Her three action steps: look backward to identify the clients/relationships you most enjoy and then find more like them, take one BD action daily, and track those actions as wins so the process stays sustainable and you maintain control of your career.
