A billion-dollar telecom merger has collapsed, a data-centre REIT is rethinking its strategy, and one of Singapore’s transport giants is facing fresh doubts - what should income investors do now? Hosted by Michelle Martin with guest Willie Keng, Founder of Dividend Titan, this episode examines the fallout from the failed Simba-M1 merger and what it could mean for Singapore’s telecom sector, Keppel and future industry consolidation. Michelle and Willie unpack why investors are reassessing Mapletree Industrial Trust after weaker earnings, pressure on distributions and concerns surrounding its North American data-centre portfolio. They also discuss why ComfortDelGro shares have come under pressure despite the company’s overseas expansion strategy. The conversation explores how regulators balance competition, infrastructure investment and consumer interests when evaluating major telecom transactions. Plus, what dividend investors should focus on beyond headline yields when assessing long-term income opportunities.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Singapore’s telecom landscape has taken a sharp and unexpected turn, as Simba’s proposed $1.43 billion acquisition of M1 moves close to collapse. The development follows IMDA’s decision to suspend its review amid allegations that Simba may have used unauthorized radio frequency bands, leading Keppel to confirm it will let the deal expire by May 21. With the transaction now effectively off the table, M1 returns to the market, opening the door to potential new buyers. Who might ultimately step in as the next owner of one of the country’s key mobile operators? And, what does this mean for competition, prices and trust in the sector? On The Big Story, Hongbin Jeong speaks with Manoj Menon, Founder, Twimbit, to find out more. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it the message that I tell you.” 3 So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, three days' journey in breadth.4 Jonah began to go into the city, going a day's journey. And he called out, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” 5 And the people of Nineveh believed God. They called for a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them. 6 The word reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, removed his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he issued a proclamation and published through Nineveh, “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything. Let them not feed or drink water, 8 but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and let them call out mightily to God. Let everyone turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. 9 Who knows? God may turn and relent and turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish.” 10 When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.

James Keppel is the Founder and CEO of Sarana Health and a healthcare advocate for an integrated, wellness-focused approach to keeping people healthy instead of simply treating diseases. While the impacts of current policy changes and budget cuts in healthcare and medical research have yet to be seen, all indications point to widening gaps in serving rural populations and those with complex conditions. James encourages private industry to step up to innovate new models of healthcare delivery and financing, and to use AI and technology to support healthcare providers in providing personalized, continuous care. We talk about: Need to inform and influence the debate about healthcare policy Gaps in how traditional medicine addresses chronic conditions and preventative care Hot button issues like drug price transparency, telehealth, and nutrition benefit cuts How the smarter use of diagnostic tests to find early warning signs of disease benefits all stakeholders Growing frustration among healthcare providers and patients with the current healthcare system is creating an opportunity for innovative models to emerge #SaranaHealth #Healthcare #HealthcareCuts #RuralHealthcare #MedAI Sarana.Health
James Keppel, Founder and CEO of Sarana Health, is focused on an integrated healthcare model that addresses chronic health challenges and preventative care. By providing personalized care, advanced lab testing, and one-on-one coaching with healthcare professionals, Sarana aims to fill the gaps in the traditional healthcare system, which often focuses on sick care rather than keeping people healthy. The company's integrated care model looks at the interconnected body systems to identify underlying causes of health issues, rather than just treating symptoms. James explains, "What we provide is a totally personalized client-led and client-centric approach to wellness. We do that through an advanced series of lab tests and also you get to actually talk to the people who care for you, which I know is rare. Everything is very much about you and the person that you are, as opposed to charts and graphs about past history and that sort of thing with other doctors. So we get very dialed into the person." "We've got a lot of different ranges that we can hit. So you mentioned people with chronic conditions. Yes, absolutely. We can deal with that. A lot of times, those people have not gotten any good answers from the legacy healthcare system. So they go and see their doctor every six months. They do the same test, they get the same, we don't know what's going on, or it's just you're older and that's the way it is, sort of thing. And then the other end of the spectrum is on the preventative side and looking at being in front of your health as opposed to waiting until you have a problem, which unfortunately the legacy healthcare system kind of does - they wait till you have a problem, they give you a prescription, and tell you, that's the way it goes. Whereas if you're on the preventive end, the easiest way to stay healthy is to never get sick." #SaranaHealth #IntegratedHealth #Wellness #OptimalWellness #Wholebody #PersonalizedHealth sarana.health Download the transcript here
