One of the famous questions asked about the holiday of Hanukah involves a passage that appears right in the middle of the Gemara's discussion of the laws of the Hanukah candles. The Gemara suddenly interjects with what appears to be a totally unrelated comment about the story of Yosef. The Torah says about the pit into which Yosef's brothers threw him: והבור רק אין בו מים – "and the pit was empty; there was no water in it" (37:24). The Gemara explains this to mean that the pit was "empty" only in the sense that it contained no water. It did, however, contain נחשים ועקרבים – snakes and scorpions. Miraculously, Yosef survived. Many Rabbis asked the question of why this comment is introduced amidst the Gemara's discussion of Hanukah. The simple answer, seemingly, is that the same Rabbi who made this comment taught the halacha which the Gemara quoted previously. The Gemara will often tangentially quote other teachings of a Rabbi after bringing his statement about the topic under discussion, so it could be that here, too, the Gemara just happened to bring a second teaching by the same Rabbi. It seems reasonable to assume, however, that there is a deeper connection between Hanukah and the pit that Yosef was thrown into. Let's take a closer look at the Gemara's statement: מים אין בו, אבל נחשים ועקרבים יש בו – "There was no water in it, but there were snakes and scorpions in it." The Gemara here is making a profound observation about human beings. Every person is a "pit" that needs to be filled. People do not remain "empty." Their time, their minds, and their souls will be filled with something. And if it is not filled with "water" – with Torah, with holiness, with spirituality, with meaning and purpose – then it will be filled with "snakes and scorpions" – with destructive activities. This is especially true about youngsters. There is hardly any young man or woman who is just average, who is "neutral," who is "empty." Either they are "filled" with Torah, with a yearning for meaning and a connection to Hashem, or they are "filled" with נחשים ועקרבים , with harmful or destructive behaviors. And this might be the connection between the statement about Yosef's pit and the mitzvah of Hanukah candles. Hanukah is the celebration of the triumph of the "light" of Torah over the "darkness." Torah life is sometimes difficult, but it is filled with "light," with joy, with beauty, with meaningfulness. The alternative to Torah life, as appealing as it may seem, is "dark," a place of נחשים ועקרבים , snakes and scorpions – because if a person does not "fill" himself with Torah, he will fill himself with other things which are "dark" and harmful. Our job on Hanukah when lighting the candles is to reflect on, and rejoice over, the privilege we have to live joyous Torah lives, lives of meaning and purpose, lives of yearning and striving for a relationship with Hashem. We should celebrate our choosing light over darkness, the beauty of Torah life over the "darkness" of other lifestyles. And we should recommit to constantly radiate joy and enthusiasm in our Torah observance so our children will see the "light" and beauty of Torah, and will not look to "fill" their lives with anything else.

In this Wednesday Night Dharma Talk, Hoshi Senko reflects on Radiant Light as the everyday experience of being alive. Drawing on Dōgen Zenji's Komyō (Radiant Light) and Koun Ejō's sole surviving work, Komyōzō Zanmai (The Practice of the Treasury of Radiant Light), Senko traces how the ancestors point to what is closest and most easily missed—summarized by Wittgenstein: “It is not how things are in… Source

As this podcast goes to air, we've moved through the first full moon of the year, which offers us a time to go deep within, feel our emotions, and access the deepest resources of our intuitive selves. What is your soul saying to you? Where are you on your path? Or are you just going along… doing your routine.. trying to stay ahead of it all? Without asking these questions.. and just keeping yourself on the treadmill of life.. it can be very exhausting.. and it can create burnout. There are many ways you can shift out of your old ways.. the limited beliefs of your mind… and open up to expanding your consciousness as we have been talking back over the last few months. We are at a precipice right now with so much change coming forward. Full moons are just one of the things that cosmically push and pull on us.. all the planets are shifting and creating a parade in the sky that vibrates out to us. We are going through major planetary shifts. Across social media, many sources have claimed that January 25 will feature a rare alignment of planets in the night sky. but really this planetary "parade" is not confined to just one or two nights. Throughout this month, on any clear evening, we have been able to witness a giant arc of six planets — Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Neptune, and Saturn — gracing Earth's skies. A "planetary alignment," is where multiple planets gather in proximity on the same side of the sun. Keep in mind that this lineup isn't as precise as the viral videos claim, and Mercury and Earth will be out of sync with the group. While the term "planetary alignment" describes planets clustering on one side of the sun, the term "planetary parade" is less formal and simply means that multiple planets will be visible in the sky at the same time. Throughout January and February 2025, stargazers will get a "planet parade" view in the evening sky. All planets except for Mercury will be visible after nightfall, so it's still a great opportunity to get outside and look up. I use the stargazer app.. so much fun to note where they are around me. Now not only do we have our calendar new year… we also have the year of Year of the Dragon drawing to a close with the Year of the Snake is almost upon us. The date usually falls on the second new moon after the Winter Solstice. The snake, symbol of transformation, coils at the heart of the zodiac, bathed in ethereal light. The elements swirl in the cosmic backdrop. The Year of the Snake 2025, beginning on January 29, promises to bring wisdom, adaptability, and definitely a sense of transformation. Transformation: The snake's ability to shed its skin represents letting go of the past and embracing new opportunities. Elegance: The snake is often seen as a figure of elegance and mystery. Good fortune: The snake is often associated with good fortune. Chinese astrology, each year is also associated with one of the five elements – wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. 2025 will be the Year of the Wood Snake which is believed to bring abundance and prosperity. There are many stories and fabels associated with the wood snake. One that I like is a story that tells of how Snakes are associated with wealth and prosperity. According to legend, a snake once saved a village from drought by bringing a precious jewel to the surface of the earth. From that day on, Snakes were revered and considered lucky animals. So .. get ready for even more shifts. But here's the thing... how you approach these changes is key… Having a Spiritual Practice can help you to notice the old patterns that are keeping you stuck and allows you the energy tools to create the new pathways.. the neurons in your brain to help establish these new ways for you. Change is possible but you do need the skills and tools that a Spiritual Practice offers you. We have all heard The Einstein quote regarding solving a problem which is: "We cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking that we used when we created them.". This essentially means that to solve a complex issue, you need to approach it with a new perspective and not remain stuck in the same mindset that created the problem in the first place. Want to break free? What to learn these tools for you. Schedule a Spiritual Upgrade Breakthrough call with me and let's talk about the #1 thing that is keeping you stuck and what you can do to break free and create the shifts you want to see for this year. Click here. In today's episode, I wanted to round out our journey through the Akashic Realm. I think the reason I love working in the Akashic Records is that in this Realm we are able to do very deep healing. The more you work in this realm you begin to recognize the shift in your consciousness, which scientifically means, a shift in how your brain is working. One of these states that we can easily access is called Gamma Consciousness. Gamma brain waves are one of the fastest brain wave patterns produced inside your brain. It is often said this is the brain pattern that shamans, gurus, yogis use to shape shift and/or reach enlightenment. As I have been learning and practicing, in the gamma consciousness state, we achieve this station of healing, which can be pictured as a broad vertical ray of light. From the state of highest grace that holds only truth, the heavens and higher dimensions, in which light, sound, and date move faster than the speed of light (luminally) akin to wave particles. The Higher Mind, primarily through the pineal gland, runs your higher brain. By accessing the Ascending Charkas (8th and 9th) the Gamma Consciousness is called in along with the Absolute Scalar Waves and the Higher Frequency of Harmonic Color. Absolute scalar waves are healing streams of grace. They are a type of light that has been present in pre-life, pre-universe.. the big bang. It is an electromagnetic field that can be used for healing working with the chakra fields of energy. I perceive them as coming from the highest place of light and love. As I learned from working with Cyndi Dale this pure scalar energy is found within light and sound waves that can penetrate any solid object and travel faster than the speed of light. They can even pass through the earth from one side to another with no loss of strength. I have experienced them by simply calling them in and allowing the healing to occur. To me, the energy feels like a fast vibration, light, heat, spreading out to create a pure energy of potentiality where change is made. All we have to do is to align Spirit to Spirit and simply call them in. Perhaps you have noticed when we go into meditation and open up to the Akashic Realm I call in Absolute light and streams of grace… and it happens.. quickly. So this allows us to get out of what I call waking state consciousness and expands our abilities to tap into our Soul energy. As we work with these vibrations in the Akashic Realm, you become one with the divine.. you are guided to the truth within your soul.. there is no judgment… which helps you to remember you are an infinite Soul… so freeing… as we so often think we are the physical presence of our body.. and only want the eyes can see in our physical world.. but we are so much more. The records open us up to our soul and all the many lifetimes we have lived.. to the wisdom we carry.. to infinite possibilities. I'll share an experience that I've been working with… I know I've talked about many during these episodes… mostly ones of healing.. but this one is about how we can connect with our star people. For me, it's connecting with the my Lemurian Guides. Follow along the meditation to hear the channeled message. https://terriannheiman.com/

Part 2 is a deeper examination of the issues we discussed in part 1.Your Being is pure Radiant Light just as powerful as any guru. Why doesn't it feel that way? Most of us have taken a vast portion of our light and siphoned it off by creating repressed problems, attitudes, and delusions. We are Awareness and all Awareness is love, peace, and joy. Just as we can freeze life giving water into a destructive shape such as a frozen ice knife, we can freeze Awareness into problems. How? We focus our destructive attitudes into free flowing Awareness and freeze it into an thought emotion object that hurts us and others. Ice melts when it emits its cold. A psychological object melts when it emits it's attitude. These podcasts are here to support your personal path of awakening whatever that might be. I feel they are most powerful when listened to in sequence from podcast one forward because each is built on the last. Though they, also, all stand on their own. If anything does not resonate, please disregard it and follow your heart.www.williamecooper.wordpress.com Though I am a psychotherapist and these podcasts are offered to be spiritually helpful, they are not psychotherapy. St. John draws us into the experience of stillness and its many fruits. It is a precious gift that comes to us by the grace of God and takes root in a heart prepared through years of asceticism and watchfulness. It is our waiting upon God. In many ways this sums up the vocation of the hermit/monk. But it also captures the essence of our life and the life of prayer. We are ever waiting upon God to act in our life and we seek to cultivate in our hearts a receptivity to his will and grace. This is the active life, the fulfillment of the vocation for the Hesychast and of all Christians. The temptations that come are always going to be things that draw one out of that stillness; loneliness, despondency, etc. Whether monk or Christians in the world we must allow ourselves to remain within the crucible of stillness. When we feel lonely and isolated, when we are agitated, our tendency is to run to others or to things within the world. This crucible purifies the desire of our hearts and our faith. Are we able to give our will over to God? Can we trust that he will make of our lives that which endures to eternity? So often we are set upon fixing, undoing or changing the circumstances of our life that seem inconsistent with what is good or what will lead to a sense of fulfillment. However, when we long for God and when we turn to his love, we become free from being tossed about by the chaos of life. Our hearts find rest only in the Lord - He who is an eternal rock. --- Text of chat during the group: 00:03:46 Bob Cihak, AZ: P. 229, #57 00:16:25 Ambrose Little, OP: Happy feast day, Fr. Charbel! 00:27:38 Erick Chastain: The rule of St Benedict even says that there is no eating outside of the communal mealtime. So those who follow the rule outside of the monastery can follow this too. 00:32:22 Anthony: Maybe it could be a person who entered this kind of life is not called to it? 00:34:13 Art: My family has been out of the country for 2.5 weeks. I've been trying to give myself a little taste of the solitary life from the little I know. I'm sure my attempt is laughable compared to monks, but I still found it hard! 00:34:14 Callie Eisenbrandt: Can this be related to like normal life? Separating yourself from the world work on your relationship with the Lord - It is difficult to find a "good" community with support - so how is one supposed to mimic this when they are in society 00:43:01 Una: Blessed name day, Fr. Any books or sources of his teachings you can recommend? 00:45:11 Cindy Moran: This might seem nuts but I waited until God sent me a mate who loves Jesus more than me 00:45:51 Anthony: "Love is a Radiant Light" is, I believe, a collection of St Charbel homilies 00:46:15 Nypaver Clan: Reacted to "This might seem nuts..." with

It is free, helps our ratings, and thus helps us reach and help more people. This session is one of our readings from the teachings of St. Sharbel, a Lebanese monk who died on Christmas Eve in 1898. He became renowned for his intercession for healing of various sicknesses and other conditions, including very serious conditions. Over 26,000 healing have been credited to his intercession. If you go to Mexico there are shrines to him all over. If you ask why there are so many roadside shrines to a Lebanese monk, they will simply say, “It works.” His intercession works. But he is also a spiritual master. His homilies are collected in a book called Love is a Radiant Light. I thought it would be helpful for you if I began a series of readings of some selections from his homilies. I hope they provide some valuable insight for you.
