To commemorate its anniversary on December 10th, we thought this would be a great time to reshare one of our most popular CLASSIC episodes, an interview we did with Taiwan Democracy fighter Dr. Linda Gail Arrigo, Ai Linda (艾琳達) in 2024 about events leading up to the HISTORIC Kaohsiung Incident. Few have experienced such historic events first-hand in the way Linda has, as she speaks from the doorstep of history. Linda talked about the era and events that precipitated the Kaohsiung incident, also known as the Formosa Incident, which is widely considered the watershed moment in history that led to Taiwan's democratization. The Kaohsiung Incident happened in December of 1979 During this interview Linda talked about how, in 1975 she had been sent to observe a trial that had been stated to be an open trial but when she arrived there, she saw that it wasn't. In the face of intimidation by the Taiwan Garrison Command officers, she chose to speak up about the injustice she saw, and reported it to Amnesty International. At the time, the jail and federal authorities reported that surveillance video showing the outside of his cell, during the incident, was missing. Prosecutors initially claimed the footage “no longer exists,” citing a clerical error or administrative mistake as the deletion reason.  The disappearance of those camera files raised immediate red flags because standard procedure for such a high-profile inmate would have required preservation of all surveillance around the time of a suspected self-harm event. Instead the footage was lost, never formally produced, and the explanation offered was that it was deleted inadvertently — not as a scheduled or justified destruction.The fact that the video was not preserved, and no credible technical reason was publicly validated for its deletion, fed the swirl of suspicion and conspiracy around Epstein's treatment and eventual death. The failure to maintain that footage — or to provide an unbroken chain of custody or explanation for the loss — meant that one of the key pieces of physical evidence that might have explained what “really” happened during the first incident was simply unavailable. We delve into the mysterious disappearance of Clinton Devon Nelson in September 2006, a young man from Nebraska who went missing after trying to reconnect with his biological father in Louisiana. Despite a hopeful beginning, including a job offer and plans to live with his father, Clinton's story took a dark turn when he vanished following an encounter at a friend's house, where his stepfather Jeff last saw him peering through blinds. Clinton had a history that included a drug possession charge and an outstanding arrest warrant for missing a court date, but his sudden disappearance left many unanswered questions. His family firmly believed he wouldn't have left voluntarily, especially since he was excited about upcoming fatherhood and left behind his paycheck.Investigations revealed drug activity at the friend's house Clinton visited, linking it to methamphetamine distribution, and suggested Clinton might have been using heavy narcotics, possibly leading to paranoia and erratic behavior. Despite extensive searches and theories ranging from voluntary departure to drug-induced disorientation or even foul play, Clinton's fate remains unknown.
