The start of the 2021 Minnesota Vikings season surely hasn't started as we'd like. Your Vikings we face Kyler Murray and the whole Arizona Cardinals team down in the desert. Murray is known for his ability to be mobile and destroy game plans making victory difficult. Sunday was no different as the Vikings fell to the red birds 33-34. The offense started hot and Kirk Cousins hit his first long ball to KJ Osborn for a 64-yard touchdown on the second play of the drive. The defense still looked discombobulated with moments of very good individual play by the likes of Danielle Hunter [3 sacks], Eric Kendricks, Xavier Woods, Michael Pierce, and Nick Vigil, but as a whole, there were communication issues, blown coverages, and again for the second week in a row, some poor tackling. This all resulted in giving up 501 yards and 34 points. Wasn't the defense supposed to be a strength this season? Then there was the bane of Vikings fans everywhere… Greg Joseph missed an extra point, hits two 52 yard field goals, only to miss a 37 yarder to win the game. And you wonder why we drink? LOL. Is there a disconnect in what Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman believe on how this football team should be built and then the utilization of those players? Is there a discontent starting to boil over in the fan base? Join us for the conversation! Other talking points for tonight's show: Banner performance by the offensive line. New Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford and Rich discuss his learning curve on Sean McVay’s offense, why he chose to ask the Lions for a trade, meshing with his new Rams teammates and finally having a reliable run game, what’s the most “L.A.” thing he’s done since moving to Southern California, and that time in high school when he center, none other than Clayton Kershaw, got ejected from a game after reacting to a late hit on his quarterback. Rich and the guys break down which teams would make most sense football-wise and salary cap-wise in a trade for Falcons WR Julio Jones. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport tells Rich that Julio Jones actually requested a trade from the Falcons prior to the NFL Draft, why all quiet on the Aaron Rodgers front could mean good things for the disgruntled Packers QB, and why it took him TEN YEARS to finally jump on the ‘Breaking Bad’ bandwagon. Rich wraps up the hour giving thanks that sports is returning to normal with more fans at live events thanks to widespread vaccinations. Matthew Coller poses the question to PFF's Eric Eager: What if the Vikings traded Kirk Cousins now rather than letting the 2021 season play out and they turned things over to Kellen Mond for this year? It sounds crazy but Justin Jefferson's comments made it feel like the team is ready to move on, so why not pull off the band aid now? (It's just a thought experiment, Cousins fans, withhold your rage). Plus Eric shares his thoughts on the passing of Jerry Burns and why he was ahead of his time and Eric answers whether the Vikings have a mathematically tough schedule.

Matthew Coller and Paul Hodowanic have a discussion about what it means for the Vikings to have picked Kellen Mond with the 66th overall pick. It appears the Vikings are saying that the pressure is on Kirk Cousins to perform in 2021 and take them deep into the playoffs. What do we think of Mond as a prospect? Should the Vikings have just taken Mac Jones if they wanted a future QB? Also why the Vikings crushed the Wyatt Davis draft pick and what they still have to accomplish.
Matthew Coller and Paul Hodowanic go through all of the Day 3 draft picks for the Vikings and talk about whether the picks could have high upside for the Vikings or not and where they fit on the roster. Why did the Vikings take a running back in the fourth round? The internet seems to love the receiver they selected in the fifth, was it right to stick with high-upside pass rushers when many have failed recently? Plus... tight end/punter???
Matthew Coller and Sam Ekstrom debate the Vikings' decision to trade down in the draft when the New England Patriots elected to select Mac Jones. Should the Vikings have picked Jones even if we didn't think we was as good of a prospect as Fields or the other three quarterbacks picked? Plus why the Vikings deserve high grades for getting Christian Darrisaw and extra draft picks. Added on to our reactions from the night overall are some of the clips from the WCCO Radio live stream, which was on WCCO's Twitter and Facebook pages during the entire first round of the draft. Listen to Matthew and Cory Hepola react to Trey Lance being picked and Matthew and Courtney Cronin debate the Mac Jones pick from New England and catch the live reaction to the Darrisaw selection.

Live from BIRDI Golf in Woodbury, Matthew Coller and Sam Ekstrom talk about Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman's final press conference before the draft. Matthew Coller is joined by PFF's data scientist Eric Eager to talk about why it wouldn't have been wise for the Vikings to sell out for Orlando Brown. They also talk about whether Rick Spielman's strategy of trading down is smart and why the Vikings would be wise to pick DeVonta Smith if he's available at No. 14. Eric talks about best bets and some past draft picks that he got excited about in Minnesota sports (yes, Steph Curry comes up).

1. The Lions begin yet another different regime with new GM Brad Holmes and new head coach Dan Campbell. And this roster has tons of pressing needs from top to bottom. So, the Lions have quite a difficult decision to make with that 7th overall pick. Given the unprecedented amount of uncertainty surrounding this draft, should they trade down and add even more future picks to their arsenal? Or if the last of the top four QB’s falls in their lap, do they stay put and take that QB and have him spend a year behind Jared Goff? And what if Penei Sewell and/or Ja’Marr Chase some how make it to seven? What should the plan of attack be for Campbell and Holmes? 2. This is a make or break year for Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer. And the Vikings have an OL and a defense in urgent need of upgrades. Which of those two areas should they prioritize with the 14th overall pick? 3. If you think Spielman and Zimmer are facing such a make or break season, Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy are yelling “hold my beer” in Chicago. Personally, I think both of them should have already been fired. Yet they remain, and there is some buzz that the Bears are eyeing a move up the board. And it may not only be a QB they may be targeting in such a trade up. They may also be eyeing a tackle. If Penei Sewell and/or Rashawn Slater fall to 8 or 9 and neither the Panthers nor Broncos are able to move up for the last of the “big four” QB’s, would it be wise for the Bears to trade all the way up to get one of the top two OT’s? It might not be far fetched given that the Panthers and Broncos would highly consider moving down in such a situation 4. Last season, the Packers made it to the doorstep of the Super Bowl no thanks whatsoever to their 2020 draft haul. In order for them to get over the hump in 2021, should they draft more immediate impact players than long-term projects? If so, at what positions could they use an instant boost? 5. Lions Mock Draft -1 (7): Micah Parsons -2 (41): Christian Barmore -3 (72): D’Wayne Eskridge -3 (101): Walker Little 6. Vikings Mock Draft -1 (14): Alijah Vera-Tucker -3 (78): Quincy Roche -3 (90): Andre Cisco 7. Bears Mock Draft -1 (20): Mac Jones -2 (52): Asante Samuel, Jr. -3 (83): Stone Forsythe 8. Packers Mock Draft -1 (29): Elijah Moore -2 (62): Jabril Cox -3 (92): Derrick Barnes
Matthew Coller and CBS Sports draft analyst Chris Trapasso deep dive into the most interesting teams in the NFL Draft, starting with the Atlanta Falcons, whose decision to take a quarterback or trade down could determine how the rest of the board falls. Will Denver get in the QB mix? Are the Vikings one of the 5 most interesting teams? Chris thinks so because they have so many options. Plus who are the guards the Vikings should target in the third round?

Plus who is each of our favorite QB in the NFL draft that isn't named Wilson or Lawrence?
Matthew Coller and Sam Ekstrom hold another Friday Roundtable in which Chad Graff of The Athletic comes by to answer burning Minnesota Vikings questions like whether Rick Spielman was telling the truth about Kirk Cousins being their quarterback going forward, how the Danielle Hunter situation plays out, whether they should consider moving Harrison Smith and if drafting a QB makes any sense.
A lot of QBs were in the news yesterday as GMs spoke. If the Jets move on from Sam Darnold, when is the best time to trade him? Should the Raiders be 100% behind Derek Carr? Will Florio grill Rick Spielman about Kirk Cousins later today?Surprise surprise, Twitter had some strong reactions to Chris' QB Draft Ranks. He answers some questions about if the Dolphins, Eagles, or 49ers should target any of these QBs in the first round.
