EPISODE 175 - Clark and Hyung open the show giving their initial thoughts on the 2023 Topps Definitive Collection set including the big chase, the dual autograph 1/1 cards of Shohei Ohtani and Babe Ruth, and whether it's worth the $100K bounty. Then for Hobby Headlines, the guys address the controversy surrounding Rob G., aka Sports Card Therapist, but focus more on what lessons can be learned from it. They also talk about "megabids" as well as what they would do as a content creator if caught in a similar controversy. Then Clark and Hyung "cast their vote" in a new segment on recent lists that Major League Baseball put out asking followers who they think could win their first MVP next season, which rookie can rise to stardom in 2024, and who could get into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot. Then the guys bring it back to the hobby and decide whether they would invest in that player's cards. Lastly, they play their regular "Pick 1" segment where they are given two players or cards and subsequently debate which one they would rather invest in. Hyung asks whether the aforementioned 1/1 dual autograph card of Ohtani and Babe Ruth is a better investment or a 1933 Babe Ruth Goudey; Clark asks which would be better to buy – a Jackson Chourio base 1st Bowman Chrome autograph at $800 or a Jackson Holliday base 1st Bowman Chrome autograph at $500 (both PSA 10s). -------------------------- CONNECT WITH US! Hot Stuff with 1989's MLB American League Rookie of the Year, Gregg Olson and Aaron Epstein, Founder of Coney Island Saucery Gregg Olson was a relief pitcher who played for 14 years in the Major Leagues. In 1989, Olson became the first reliever to win the American League Rookie of the Year Award as he set an American League rookie record with 27 saves and had a 5–2 mark with a 1.69 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 85 innings. Gregg was a member of 10 MLB teams during his playing career, but it is as a member of the Baltimore Orioles where Olson enjoyed the most success and is a member of the team's Hall of Fame. Gregg is also a member of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame as well as being a member of the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame along with his dad, famed 35 years high school coach, Bill Olson. Aaron Epstein is the founder of Coney Island Saucery, specializing in premium hot sauces. Aaron's fondest childhood memories were of trips to Coney Island with his dad and brother. Aaron's hot sauces are exceptional and he has teamed up with the actors from the Trailer Park Boys as they are now the faces of his hot sauces. We discuss his food journey and the way he has conducted his business to get it to the place it is now in a very highly competitive market. This week on Slips and Picks 500 the boys are coming off of a HEATER and look to continue their success in the NFL gambling world. The Mule (Delanie Walker) posted what might have been the best record in all of sports gambling this weekend with an unreal 11-2 record. This week he will be looking to the A'mon Ra St. Brown and the Detroit Lions to help separate him farther from the pack. William Gekko (Will Compton) is riding high on Anthony Richardson to take down Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans and also thinks the Houston Texans could start to cause some problems for some teams. This week that team happens to be the Atlanta Falcons and Bijan Robins. Chet Savage (Taylor Lewan) will look to make his move in a number of games but the one that stands out the most is the Las Vegas Raider vs the Packers on Monday Night Football. Chandler Jones tweeted that he knew something, maybe this is what he was referring to. Chet is riding the Raiders. Don't forget to stick around until the end to hear from the interns and their Penny Slips Parlay where they give you the best low risk high reward options on the market. ----- SHOP: https://store.barstoolsports.com/collections/bussin-with-the-boys FOLLOW THE BOYS Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bussinwtb/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/BussinWTB Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BussinWTB/ Website: https://www.bussinwtb.com LISTEN iTunes: http://bit.ly/BWTB_Apple Spotify: http://bit.ly/BWTB_SpotifyYou can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube.
