Heading into Tuesday it would not have been a surprise if the Jets had made a trade. Most of us would have expected the team to be sellers and deal a veteran in the final year of his contract. Instead the Jets made a move to get a player, Kansas City's Laurent Duvernay-Tardif. The price was incredibly low. All they had to give up was tight end Daniel Brown. On today's Locked on Jets episode John talks about the trade and the two players who weren't dealt, Maye and Crowder. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

This past offseason the Houston Texans spent their time signing a horde of veteran players to churn the bottom of the roster, change the culture of the team, and maybe, flip them for future draft selections, or help them acquire future compensatory picks. There were two problems. The players they signed weren't very good, and teams don't give up assets for players who aren't very good. Before the buzzer hit, Houston was able to trade Mark Ingram for a 2024 seventh round pick, and Charles Omenihu for a 2023 sixth round pick. Nick Caserio's plan failed. It didn't work. On this episode of Battle Red Radio, Matt Weston discusses the Texans at the trade deadline, and answers your listener questions. Topics include: why Houston traded Omenihu, the problems Houston had moving players at the deadline, why this is indicates Caserio's problems from this past offseason, Deshaun Watson stuck in Houston, if David Culley will be fired at 2-16, the size Nick Caserio's statue should be, which young player has the most to gain from the Omenihu trade, what type of team I want to watch in 2022, and the rest of your questions. They also discuss another name that was on the block: Odell Beckham Jr. Can he salvage his relationship with Baker Mayfield in Cleveland? And what will the Saints do at quarterback?
