Ooo de lally! It's Robin of the 'hood! Clara gets to live out a childhood dream meeting Nottingham Forest's famous do-gooder. And we watch/listen to a classic story taking a look at what Kind Richard was doing during the same time.
Avast, ye brigands, and gather round. Forsooth, we share with ye a merry tale of impossible heroes, fair maidens, villainous sherriffs and most devilish automata, all abound within the great Forest of Sherwood as 'twas many centuries ago.Aye, with a twinkle in his eye, our hero, young Robin Hood doth trade banter and larks with a be-frowned grey-haired physic of dubious origin who dares question his impunity, nay, even his corporeal existence!Meanwhile, testing the bounds of this fiction further, our genial hosts Mr. Geoff and Mr. Paul bestow upon our story as it unfoldeth, a chorus of omnipotent oration, where one doth take up the position of adoring admirer, the other that of cowardly cynic. But which is which..?Dare ye partake in revelry simultanous to the emerging tale?Aye. Hard to believe, but it took Doctor Who more than 50 years to get around to doing a TV adventure centered on Robin Hood. And like a speeding arrow splitting the shaft of another, Robot of Sherwood cracks your usual story assumptions: Instead of presenting an alien explanation for a mythical historical figure, the myth is offered up as historical fact. That raises a couple of notable eyebrows, leading the Doctor to take on a persona that's more cantankerous antihero than otherworldly savior, and his bickering with Robin creates some of the biggest laughs of the series. It's all fun and games, of course, until a robot reveals its cross-shaped eye. Please leave a review! It's medieval madness as Ben and Mark discuss ROBOT OF SHERWOOD and THE KING'S DEMONS. As they wander through Sherwood forest, the Lash Lads chat about grumpiness, comedy in Doctor Who and take a little detour to look at the rise of internet criticism and clickbait snark. After that, they wander around an old castle whilst singing songs of the Crusades, discussing historical inaccuracies, the mad story of Kamelion's conception, unconvincing beards and the slightly more muted season finales of the classic series. In 2014 the Doctor meets Robin of Sherwood. This does not seem possible since Robin of Sherwood is not real. Could he be a robot? Maybe. Our group watched this Peter Capaldi episode and found it quite enjoyable but was there too much humor in it? "No damsels in distress. No pretty castles. No such thing as Robin Hood." Well it just goes to show that even curmudgeonly old Time Lords can get things wrong occasionally, although the TARDIS team do also manage to encounter a Robot of Sherwood or several during their sojourn in Merrie England. Hair is plucked, sandals are sniffed, targets are incinerated and a baddie is cast into a vat of boiling gold. All in a day's work for Spoonman and Clara. But does the episode hit the target or plummet into the moat of obscurity and derision? Listen in and find out...

Doctor Who has returned! We're already a quarter of the way through Series 8, and KC and Sue talked for nearly two hours about the first three episodes featuring the new Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi. Don't worry, though - it has been edited down to a much more manageable 52 minutes (or so). Please remember that we both only saw each episode once and that these episodes are "first reactions" to the episode. Don't expect too much analysis. There will be some, however, because we just can't stop ourselves. ****THIS EPISODE CONTAINS SPOILERS**** To help you avoid said spoilers and still listen, if you want, here are some time codes:01:15 - Thoughts on the new title sequence03:30 - Capaldi first impressions06:30 - Deep Breath (KC and I disagree about something!)19:10 - Into the Dalek28:35 - Robot of Sherwood33:00 - General thoughts so far (including some general Moffat crit around the 38 minute mark and also some things we forgot earlier.)40:45 - An email from listener Marcus and our responseAnd stay tuned to the very end for over 2 minutes of ridiculous outtakes. Stephen and Clay enjoy a "swiss cheese" episode of Doctor Who. We don't like much about this one and the stuff we do like, we don't even like. Was Robin Hood a Robot? Is Clara's character evolution justified? Come decide for yourself, because afterall....Matt Smith wasn't there to tell you.
Ashley and Justin liked episodes of Doctor Who! Is Capaldi's dialogue more natural? Does the CG look better? Are these eps actually fun? Yes! Yes! Yes to all three!
