Pastor Ryan continues the Rooted Series by diving into questions regarding the believer's eternity experience.
Joining Dr. Derek Weber, Director of Preaching Ministries for this episode is the Rev. Sara McKinley, formerly Director of the Office of Clergy Excellence at the Florida Conference Center in Lakeland and now Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Naples Florida. Sara was born in England, raised in Africa, worked in the Far East, traveled extensively throughout the world, and chose to live in the United States. Before her call to ordained ministry, she worked in the juvenile court system in Worcester, MA; international corporate business in the U.S and the Far East; and co-owned a graphic design business in Florida for 12 years. She has degrees from the University of Bristol, England; Clark University, Worcester, MA; and Candler School of Theology at Emory University. As a part of the Lilly Endowment's Compelling Preaching Initiative, Sara and a team of pastors and theologians developed worship resources called Wesleyan Rooted, https://www.wesleyanrooted.org/. These free resources are available outside the Florida Conference and are a part of the movement to reclaim our identity and roots as a Wesleyan rooted denomination. Listen in as we share more details about the resources and the creating team's vision for the project.
We all have a Story, a Testimony. Who writes our story? Join us this week as we continue in the Rooted Series. We all have been through, going through, and have overcome so much through God's grace. We are called to share the Gospel and that is done by sharing our story with others. Satan uses us and our strongholds to prevent people from coming to God, but God uses us and our strongholds to bring people to Himself. We are to fight against Satan when we are scared or nervous to share our Testimony with others. Our Story may be just what someone needs to hear and have their eyes open to see God.

Do you have a good understanding of who God is? What about Jesus? Do you know what the Bible says about the Holy Spirit? It's so important to understand who God is as a whole and understand His character. The Bible says so much to help us better understand who God is and the more we dig into that, the deeper rooted we will become. Christian culture and culture in general often teach us incorrect things about God that cause us to view him the wrong way. In today's episode, we dig into how we can become more rooted in our faith by understanding what the bible says about God and how we can uproot the lies and build strong roots with the truth about God. Part 02 of the Rooted Series
Part 01 of the Rooted Series
We are wrapping up the Rooted Series this week with Part 5 and talking about how being rooted in all of the things we've touched on in Parts 1-4 impacts our specific family unit. We've chatted faith and friendships and real-life and community…so what does all of that mean for our family and how does being rooted in those things change the way we live our daily lives? There is so much that our family unit has gained by choosing to be intentionally rooted. Our kids have witnessed us fighting to dig deep into our faith, they have learned what healthy adult friendships look like and how to pursue and love people well, and they've seen how we've prioritized becoming involved in our local community to invest in the place that we are living. The whole heart behind this series has been “get rooted.” It's an idea that is lacking in our world today, yet is such a powerful way that we can impact the people and communities around us and also make space for God to move and use us in this world.Join us today as we wrap up all the loose ends and encourage you once more to go out and get rooted! Enjoy!Episode Highlights: How being rooted in our identity in Christ and our identity as a child of God impacts our confidence in becoming rooted in other ways, too.How intentionality can be such an impactful shift in our day-to-day lives.A look at Jesus and how he intentionally sought out and welcomed people of all types. What being rooted looks like for the Adkins family as a whole.More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcoreySign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co
You all have probably heard the idiom “Blood is thicker than water” and most of us know it to mean that familial or blood-related relationships are stronger than non-familial relationships. On today's episode, we discuss its original meaning and how it is exactly opposite of how most people use it. The original saying is actually, "Blood of the covenant is thicker than water of the womb" - and it's talking about bloodshed on the battlefield. So, "blood is thicker than water" actually means that bloodshed on the battlefield creates stronger ties than the water of the womb does. And today, The Adkins and Corley couples are tackling Part 4 of the Rooted Series and talking about friendship and community and how the bloodshed on the battlefield of this world can create a strong bond, uniquely pulling and holding unrelated families together. And truly, how Jesus' shed blood does that for ALL of us - related or not.We talk about how our community came to be - i.e. God chose it and ordained it - and how our community endures and perseveres with the busyness and balance of life and work and family - i.e. we CHOOSE it and pursue it. And we share more personally about what this community looks like for the guys/the husbands and just how that differs from the relationship the women/the wives have. There are jokes and laughter and reminiscing and possibly even tears (from the guys, of course) throughout this episode and I just know you'll be encouraged and blessed through getting a peek into this little community of ours and hearing the heart behind it and within it.Enjoy, friends!Episode Highlights: Becoming closest and most deeply rooted with the people you're in the trenches with…whether by birth or by choice. What community looks like and means to the men in the group and how intentionality plays a major role.Communities are chosen and ordained by God but it's then on the community members to choose each other each and every day.Holding each other up as believers in community through the struggles of real life is an earthly shining example of Jesus and what He has done for us.More on The Millennial Mission/Links Mentioned in Episode:Follow us on IG: @bethanyandcoreySign Up for exclusive discounts, benefits, and top secret info only our podcast listeners get!www.millennialmission.coPress Inquiries/Contact: bethany@millennialmission.co

Is it really necessary to have a pastor and a church community? Or is that just a man made institution? 3.24.19 Rooted Series. Rooted in the Spirit. Ephesians 5:6-20. We often do not live out our lives as we should in the new creation which we are in Christ, but no matter how far we stray, we are always in His Love and in His Grace as His creation. Paul tells us that we should give thanks to God always and for everything. We are to submit to one another and be united in Christ.

Rooted Series, Ephesians 1:1-14.There is so much that God has for us in His Word and how might we open ourselves up to His leading through the Apostle Paul to the Church in Ephesus? What if we gave God the power to speak through the book of Ephesians to us as the Body of Christ? Let’s try this together. Once a week, open up and read the whole book of Ephesians in one sitting. It shouldn’t take but about 20-30 minutes at the most. Begin by asking God to reveal His love to you through His Word. Then read it and see what He has to tell you.
Elevation Church Utah - A community of Christ Followers - Podcast
In 2019 Elevation Church will become more "Rooted" in our faith. Each month we will dedicate ourselves to a Book or portion of a Book in the bible. Through reading, teaching, discussion, videos, and study we will move through each piece of scripture to not only read it but understand it. We will work through 6 old testament books and 5 new testament books including 2 gospels. By the end of the year it's our hope that we will have a stronger grasp of the unified story the bible presents and how it all points to Jesus.
