He's world-champion gamer and former concert promoter, now Jake Williams runs one of the fastest-growing gaming conventions in the United States, Salt Lake Gaming Con. Williams joins Andy Farnsworth to talk about what attendees will see and do at the June 2019 SL Gaming Con (it's more than just video games!) how he became a HeroClix world champion, the explosive growth of gaming and its relationship to streaming, and the time he got yelled at by bigwigs at DC Comics for making a joke about Harley Quinn.
In this episode we sit down with Dan Newman to get an idea of what it takes to start a pinball league and get tournaments going! If you want to join us at the Salt Lake Gaming Con or just want more info, check out https://saltlakegamingcon.com/
Every show has an infamous “Lost Episode” or two (or three) and before we debut Season 2, we thought it would be fun to share this one with our Nerd Crew as a special bonus episode! Featuring all three Nerds as well as the first appearances of special guests Mr. Butt and Mr. Ralleigh, this episode turned out to be our tangent-iest Whiskey Saturday ever thanks to another special guest, Mr. Double Rye! So what are we talking about? Originally this was going to be released way back in August of 2018 as Episode 16: Salt Lake Gaming Con 2018: Day 1 but things went off the rails really quickly so we needed some extra time to evaluate whether anybody should ever hear this. What did it end up being about? A bunch of drunk Nerds being drunk Nerds and a Lisa. We never got around to recording Day 2, but after you hear this episode you’ll agree that its for the best. If you need more nerd in your life (and we know you do!) We have a blog at wejustnerdhere.wordpress.com With tons of great articles written by Josh. You can also find us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook @WeJustNerdHere where you can interact with the hosts and let us know how we’re doing. And, if you REALLY like what you hear and would like to join our exclusive Nerd Crew, like Mr. Ralleigh and Mr. Butt, we have a Patreon account! We would also appreciate if you’d leave a review on iTunes, iHeartRadio, Google Play or whichever platform you’re listening to us on as it helps new people discover our show. We can’t wait to hear from all of you. We Just Nerd Here is a proud member of the ODYSY Radio Network. New episodes premiere on ODYSY a full 3 days before they are available to download so be sure to tune in every Saturday at 8 pm EST with encore presentations airing throughout the week. New episodes will premiere every other Saturday (sometimes more frequently) only on Odyssey Station, your new home for all things Nerd! Find out more and listen online at ODYSY1.com or download the new iOS and Android apps to take the fun with you!
