Mary & Blake discuss everything YOU had say about to Outlander episode 7.14 - Ye Dinna Get Used To It. In this episode, discuss Lord John Grey's eye injury and the surgery performed by Claire to fix it. We also touch on the introduction of new characters like Percival Wainwright and the Marquis de Lafayette, and how they fit into the overall narrative. Brianna's skills with a shotgun during a confrontation at Lallybroch are highlighted, as well as the growing relationship between William, Jane, and Fanny, and how it helps viewers connect more with William's character. Also in this episode: The hosts express disappointment that the show has not yet included the bonus version of the theme song, speculating it may be saved for the season finale. Blake feels bad for Sophie Skelton's character Brianna, noting she's had to deal with "a bunch of junk" this season compared to other characters like Roger. We analyze the introduction of Lord John Gray's stepbrother Percival Wainwright, discussing how the show made it challenging to track who he was and whether viewers should trust him. Mary points out the interesting cultural context around Brianna casually mentioning having a gun, noting how that would be viewed differently in 18th century Scotland versus modern-day America. We praise the development of the relationship between William, Jane, and Fanny, agreeing it has helped make William's character more compelling and relatable. Blake expresses frustration with the show's overuse of historical figure cameos, feeling they are being shoehorned in without serving the larger narrative. We engage in a lengthy discussion about the visceral reactions people can have to depictions of eyes and other body parts, using examples from films like Black Swan and Hostel. Mary shares a personal anecdote about playfully teasing her male friends as a teenager by flicking their Adam's apples, which Blake finds deeply unsettling. We analyze how Jamie and Claire's behavior towards Lord John Gray seems out of character, speculating it may stem from unresolved guilt or embarrassment over their past relationship. We're back to shout about one of our favorite things to shout about: Outlander! We're sharing the things we loved, hated, and loved to hate about Outlander Season 6 (MARK ME, we loved more things than we hated?). From the season that brought us such metaphors as THE-STORM-THE-WAR, we were also given gifts like the Benjamin Moore Outlander collection, throuple plots, justice for Fergus, and Matthew B Roberts' PR exit. Did we need season 6? No. Are were here now? Yes. So pour yourself a giant G&T and enjoy recapping with us!
Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton discuss all things Outlander and behind the scenes including music, a safe word, and the upcoming drama as the season continues. Hosts: Monica Gleberman and Victoria Dupuis -- Bio: Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened.
Outlander fans prepare yourselves as this week we are joined by the show's star, Sophie Skelton! If you aren't one of the MANY Outlander Fans already, it is part period drama, a little sci-fi, with some time travelling, and there is some seriously hot and heavy romance, too - wink wink! The hit show follows Claire Randall - played by Caitrona Balfe - a World War Two nurse who time travels back to Scotland in the 1700s where she meets a HOT AF highland warrior, Jamie played by Sam Heaghan, and their daughter, Brianna - a fellow time traveller - played by Sophie herself. If that doesn't entice you to watch - Sophie shares her very entertaining Sparknote version of what you have missed so far in this episode! As the show heads into its sixth season on Starz Player, Sophie joins me to chat about the plot spoiler in season six that shook her *you have been warned - SPOILERS* and reflects back on the show's powerful and nuanced exploration of sexual abuse, and the mental health impact on victims. Sophie also shares the eye opening research she did and how filming a rape scene in season four affected her own mental health. Sophie also talks about the need for messy sex scenes on screen - we all know sex is not always glossy, and the internet lies! How being a ballerina from the age of two has affected her body image, and the everyday sexism she faces, most notably when she's walking her Great Dane. I think so many of you will find what Sophie has to say so relatable - especially about appreciating our bodies in a new way post-Covid - so I think this episode will speak to all of us! I hope you continue to listen and find the power to Reign in your own lives and if you love this episode, please get in touch (follow me across social media @joshsmithhosts), I love hearing from you. This episode's guest is Sophie Skelton! She is best known for her role as Brianna Fraser in hit Starz series Outlander. We find out how she discovered she'd landed her Outlander role, discuss trigger warnings on screen and ask why so many Harry Potter fans want Sophie to play Lily Potter! In this episode we do touch on some tough issues, including how sexual violence is depicted on screen and other subjects like suicide. Welcome back Obsassenachs! This week I'm discussing one of the Outlander Fandom's all-time favorites, 409: “The Birds and The Bees”. This episode is jam packed with all the elements Obsassenachs have come to love: drama, sorrow, joy, and laughter. Join me as I discuss Sophie Skelton's stellar portrayal of a young woman recovering from the trauma of sexual assault, Jamie and Bree's burgeoning relationship and the tightrope they're walking over the touchy subject of Frank Randall, and how a little communication could have gone a long way in saving Roger from his horrible fate. All this and much more is coming your way on another episode of The Sassenach Files!
It's been a while since we've complained, so we're coming in hot with a gamified format for filing our grievances. It's Kirstie's first Draft style event, and we are drafting Ways Outlander Has Wronged Us. If you're coming to this episode to agree with us about Outlander takes you will likely be disappointed. Additional updates this week include strong stances on supermarket themed television and a continued plea for any and all information about SMS for Dich/Text For You/Text for Dick?
Welcome to our slightly delayed review of Outlander, season 5! We've got highs, we've got lows, and we've got petty thoughts. But that's not all, folks. We channeled the spirit of Outlander with this unwieldy 1:40 minute episode, which means we also had time for Mustache Moments™️, Jamie Fraser's Big Hagrid Energy, and wild speculation about the future of this series! If you don't care about Kirstie & Kelsey's Kuarantine Korner (rude), feel free to skip ahead to minute 8 to jump into Outlander talk.

THE COUNTDOWN TO OUTLANDER S4 CONTINUES! News: The official Season 4 opening credits and the music was released on October 6thduring an Outlander panel at the NYCC. The credits also combine the familiar beginning with snippets from the season that include the sweeping expanse of River Run, the backcountry cabin on Fraser's Ridge, Brianna touching the stone at Craigh na Dun, traditional dancing, a handfasting, and more. Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Richard Rankin, and Sophie Skelton, producers, Maril Davis, and Ron D. Moore, and writer Diana Gabaldon were at the NYCC doing autographs and participated in panels. The official Outlander panel audience members were surprised with a showing of S4 E1. York Shackleton got his start in professional snowboarding and commercial advertising. As York moved into documentary films, he quickly realized it’s more important to show the authenticity of the event rather than express in an opinion on screen. The audience needs to decide on their own. In the fiction world, the director actually reverse engineers much of his work. He puts distribution in place before he get financing. He also creates a lists of musts, such as actors, genre, and so on, before he fully develops a new idea. This how ‘211’ came to be. York’s latest film stars Nicolas Cage, Sophie Skelton, and Michael Rainey Jr. The movie has been described as ‘End of Watch’ meets ‘Black Hawk Down.’ The true story comes from the police code that references “Shots fired!” and the movie is about the “longest and bloodiest bank heists in history,” which took place in 1997 North Hollywood.
