Hi, y'all - Amelia and Julie did it. We watched episodes 1 and 2 of the Starz Outlander prequel series Blood of My Blood. We had a good time (mostly), and are happy to be back in the recording mode! Highlights - Young Ned, Baby Pamplemousse (duh), and costumes and cinematography galore. Since we're in world-building mode here, I don't think it could be said any better than Amelia put it - "Celebrate Scaffolding!" Lots of love - Julie and Amelia Photo courtesy of Starz
Mary & Blake recap and give their reaction to the premiere of Blood Of My Blood, episode 1.01 - Providence. In this episode, Mary and Blake return to the mic to break down the premiere of the Outlander prequel, "Blood of My Blood." Broadcasting from their brand new studio, they share their excitement about being back in Scotland (at least on screen), discuss the fresh start this prequel offers for both book readers and show watchers, and introduce new podcast segments like the "Bomb Impact" rating. Mary and Blake recap the episode's major moments, from the funeral of Red Jacob Mackenzie and the clan's political maneuvering, to the swoon-worthy first meeting between Ellen Mackenzie and Brian Fraser. They analyze the episode's direction, music, casting, and character development, debate the merits of modern sass versus historical accuracy, and even share some wild theories about time travel and the role of fate in the Outlander universe. Also in this episode: Fresh Start for Outlander Fans: "Blood of My Blood" offers a unique experience for both book readers and show-only fans, as everyone is on equal footing with this prequel—no one knows exactly what will happen, creating a sense of shared excitement and discovery. Strong Premiere Vibes: Mary and Blake describe the premiere as “swoony” and “interesting,” praising the direction, music, and the return to Scotland's atmospheric setting, which they agree is a character in itself. New Podcast Segments: The episode introduces new features like the “Bomb Impact” rating, which measures how essential each episode is to the overall Outlander story, and fun, off-topic segments to keep things lively. Character and Casting Praise: The hosts highlight the excellent casting of young versions of familiar characters (Ellen, Brian, Dougal, Murtagh, etc.), noting how their mannerisms and chemistry echo the original series and add depth to the prequel. Political Intrigue and Clan Dynamics: The episode explores the power struggles within Clan Mackenzie after Red Jacob's death, with Colin and Dougal maneuvering for leadership and Ellen caught in the middle, setting up rich political drama. Time Travel Twists: The premiere features a 20th-century storyline with Claire's parents, Julia and Henry Beauchamp, whose car crash and subsequent disappearance at Craigh na Dun hint at new time travel mysteries and connections to the main Outlander saga. Engaged and Entertaining Discussion: Mary and Blake's dynamic mix of heartfelt reactions, critical analysis, humor, and audience interaction makes for an engaging episode, with plenty of Easter eggs, theories, and relatable tangents that keep listeners coming back. #outlander #bloodofmyblood It is the year 1714, and Red Jacob - the Laird of the MacKenzie clan - has died without naming an heir. His eldest daughter, Ellen, would be the best candidate if she were not a woman. So the clans have gathered to determine which one of his sons, Colum or Douglas, will become Clan Chief. Meanwhile Ellen - who has avoided an arranged marriage with her father's blessing and protection - is now on display for all of the eligible men to vy for. One mysterious stranger catches her eye, but a complicated history between their families may stand in the way of happiness. Join us as we discuss the first episode of the Outlander prequel series, Blood of My Blood, with our friend and guest Dena from Drunk and Blerdy. Few actors kick off their careers with productions as big as the opportunities Hermione Corfield secured early on. One of her first feature film credits is Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation in which she shares a key scene with Tom Cruise, and soon after came xXx: Return of Xander Cage, and Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi. After that, it was the indie crime thriller Rust Creek which earned Corfield a couple of film festivals honors, and then it was the movie that quite firmly solidified her as a must-follow actor for yours truly, the eco-horror movie Sea Fever in which she stars opposite Connie Nielsen and Dougray Scott. Ever since our TIFF 2019 chat for that film, Corfield's been a prime target for Collider Ladies Night and now, with the debut of the Outlander prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, the time has finally come. The new Starz show puts the spotlight on Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Beauchamp's (Caitríona Balfe) parents. For Jamie, it's Jamie Roy's Brian Fraser and Harriet Slater's Ellen MacKenzie, and Claire's parents, Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston, are played by Jeremy Irvine and Corfield. Whereas Brian and Ellen's romance starts and remains in the same time period, Henry and Julia experience a significant upheaval when, similar to their daughter, they travel from 1917 to 1714, crossing paths with Brian and Ellen.Soon after a brief chat with Corfield and much of the main ensemble at San Diego Comic-Con, Corfield swung by the Collider Ladies Night studio for an extended conversation about the first two episodes of Season 1, and to offer up a few teases of what's to come. Recorded live with the cast, this episode captures the energy, camaraderie, and creative vision behind the show's exploration of ancestry, identity, and the enduring pull of legacy. What You Will Hear Is the leadership vacuum a positive or negative A candid discussion on whether the series further complicates the MacKenzie family dynamics—and how those tensions ripple across generations Speculation on Rory Alexander's portrayal of Murtagh: do his feelings for Ellen MacKenzie bear any fruit, or are they destined to remain unspoken? A provocative question raised: why was no successor chosen within the clan, and what does that omission say about power, tradition, and change? Is the leadership vaccum a positive or negative ? Meanwhile, Scottish shagfest Outlander gets a spinoff series with highland origin story Blood Of My Blood on MGM+, and Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne return for another round of Platonic on Apple TV+. B. Cox and J Owe look back at the late DMX's second studio album Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood as it turns 25. After setting the industry on fire during the previous year and a half and the explosive success of his debut It's Dark and Hell Is Hot earlier in the year, the Yonkers emcee was taking full advantage of his star while on fire. Less than seven months from his debut's release and about a six weeks from the release of his acting debut in the hood drama Belly, he released his sophomore album before the end of year.In a slight change from It's Dark, he employed more production from Swiss Beatz, whose production made up the majority of the album. While a few songs took a more commercial approach than those in the debut, the rest of the album lined up with what his persona and style came to embody. His lyrics were candid, personal, raw and unapologetic and his theme was a bit more spiritual as well. He collaborated with the likes of fellow Yonkers and Ruff Ryders affliates the LOX, Drag-On, Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z and even rock star Marilyn Manson. The album featured his signature song "Slippin" and also "No Love 4 Me". The album debuted as #1 on the Billboard 200 and also was certified triple platinum. He became the 2nd artists to have two albums released in the same year debut as #1, the other being the late Tupac Shakur in 1996.Visit The Vault Classic Music Reviews Onlinewww.vaultclassicpod.comBuy Exclusive The Vault Podcast Merchandise!www.vaultclassicpod.com/storeSupport The Vault Classic Music Reviews on Buy Me A Coffeehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/vaultclassicpodBuild Your Own Amazing Podcast Website In Less Than 5 Minutes!https://www.podpage.com/?via=ivecre8Show NotesThe Fader: The True Story of How "Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood" was madehttps://www.thefader.com/2016/12/04/dmx-flesh-of-my-flesh-oral-history-ruff-rydersDJBooth: DMX's "Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood" Is A Timeless Christmas Miraclehttps://djbooth.net/features/2018-12-22-dmx-flesh-of-my-flesh-christmas-miracle-20-year-anniversaryUDiscoverMusic: "Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood": DMX's Great Hip-Hop Disruptionhttps://www.udiscovermusic.com/stories/dmx-flesh-of-my-flesh-blood-of-my-blood/Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-vault-classic-music-reviews-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

We return with another episode of Talkin' Thrones, the second of two parts covering all the subplots that weren't covered in last week's episode, very similar to how it played out last season. What's so interesting about Season 6 is that despite it being the most critically appealing, arguably the most commercially successful and probably the most mainstream the show had been up to that point, people seem to forget that the second half is primarily subplots that set up for later things down the line. Jaime finally carries out the plan to root the sparrows out of the city with help from the Tyrell army, but they are thwarted at the last second by Tommen unexpectedly being converted to the Sparrow's side, before Jaime is carted off to Riverrun to deal with the Blackfish having unexpectedly taken the castle back from the Freys. Sam & Gilly continue their journey south and arrive at Horn Hill, where they are confronted by Sam's father who still refuses to see that his son has grown since he first went to the Wall. Arya makes her decision regarding whether she will continue to play the Faceless Men's games. Bran & Meera narrowly manage to escape the Wights north of the Wall with help from an unexpected ally. Oh yeah, and Daenerys reminds the Dothraki why they're following her. Because we needed a cool scene with the dragons. All of that and more, every Friday on #talkinthrones --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support

Flesh Of My Flesh Blood Of My Blood and It's Dark And Hell Is Hot were the first two major label releases by the incomparable DMX. Released in 1998 in May and December respectively. Two platinum albums with absolute classic songs on classic albums. DMX is the only artist to release two albums in the same year under one name. Pac had done it a few years before in 96 but one was a posthumous album under the name Makaveli. DMX is a once in a lifetime artist. Check out these two classic albums, a little about them, the producers, samples and we will hear some tunes. Let me know what you think of the episode and please like, and leave a review where possible. Thank you and have a great day.

Season 4 Episode 406 Blood of my Blood Directed by: Denise Di Novi Written by: Shaina Fewell Summary: An unexpected duo comes to visit. Lord John's wife has died. The boy William is grief-stricken. Lord John asks for discretion. Murtagh serves up politics and distrust with dinner. The boy remembers Mac the groom. Murtagh discovers the truth about William. A liquor lubricated chess game is played. John becomes ill with the measles. Jamie and William head out on a multi-day tour of the Ridge. Claire tends to John. Barbed and frank conversations occur. The boy and Jamie go on a hunt. Emotions run high. John makes a confession. The boy shows courage. Claire and John make peace. Parting gifts are shared. All the Feels: This episode is a roller coaster of emotions where we see longing, tenderness, passion, vulnerability, confrontation, brutal honesty, humility, fear, hope, understanding, introspection, and healing. When William turned around to look at Jamie as he rode away, he left Jamie with the promise they would see each other again. John and Claire being utterly frank with each other and not holding back no matter what the other said. Claire wishes happiness and contentment upon John to find a worthy partner. Jamie standing up for Lord John to Murtagh. The Good: The bulk of this episode is fantastic. The exchanges between Claire and John are difficult and almost catty in the beginning, then the conversations evolve into blatant honesty and mutual pain before understanding grows between them blossoming into their own relationship filled with mutual respect. It is heart-tugging to witness their struggle with each other. Jamie has great restraint when it comes to William as he clearly wanted to touch him and love on him as a son. William is hurting and grieving for the loss of his stepmother, then when his father becomes ill, he fears for his life too. The knowledge that Jamie is Mac the groom who left him at Helwater deepens the wound of loss he feels. William's trying to process and manage his difficult emotions at the tender age of 12. He's no regular boy, he's an Earl and heir to lands and wealth. His path is not simple, and he wears the cloak of the impending duty and responsibility upon his young shoulders. His internal battle shows the conflicting desire to leave childhood behind and grow into his idea of what it means to be a man. The boy also shows his courage in the face of the Cherokee and takes responsibility for himself after Jamie offers up his blood instead. Jamie is proud of William and holds the boy after the encounter. William thinks he told them he was his son to be protective, and I expect the memory of that experience will jar William into conscious knowing of who his biological father is at some point in the future. Throughout the time Jamie and William spent together, there were teaching moments that William can add to the earlier things Jamie taught him when he was the groom. I also appreciated how the Cherokee were shown as proud and merciful during the fish confrontation. Finally, the missing ring is brought up when Claire is taking a bath. Claire tells him she doesn't need a ring when he kisses her bare hand, he presents her with the thistle ring he had Murtagh make from part of the silver candlestick. It also has the Catullus 5 inscription in it. It is pretty much perfect. The Awkward: Murtagh being singularly focused on the tax situation in every conversation he participates in does not make for interesting viewing. the dozen or so years apart from Jamie has altered their relationship. For the first time, Murtagh has something of his own to fight for and keep or lose. He's no longer Jamie's protector and main guidance counselor. Having these two characters re-establish their relationship while being at odds is difficult to watch. Jamie is definitely working from an optimistic vantage point while Murtagh is pessimistic about what the Governor will or will not do. I hope we see resolution before too long if only to lighten the mood. Lingering Questions: Where the heck is Brianna? What the heck is Roger doing? Will the tax situation force Murtagh to rise up against the Governor or leave North Carolina? Will the tax situation pit Jamie and Murtagh against each other in a physical conflict? Where's Adawehi's necklace? When will Laoghaire want her pound of flesh and alimony? How are Marsali and Fergus? Why is William's wig as bad as Jamie's? Favorite Lines: “I just wish I'd had time to make appropriate sleeping arrangements for you and the young master.” Claire to Lord John “You sir are a lout.” William to Jamie “You cannot at all be a comfortable woman to live with.” Lord John to Claire “You are neither circumspect or circuitous. I don't believe I've ever met anyone so devastatingly straightforward, male or female.” Lord John to Claire “Oh, it's hard. It's hard watching you with him. Oh…” Lord John to Claire “Why torture yourself? Surely you knew coming here that you could never have him.” Claire to Lord John. “Do you know what it's like to love someone and never be able to give them happiness? Not through any fault of yours or theirs, but simply because you were not born the right person for them?” Lord John to Claire Links of Interest: Milk snake facts Catullus 5 Blood of my Blood quote Please share your thoughts and comments to 719-425-9444 or contact@adramofoutlander.com. ABOUT OUTLANDER: Outlander is an American-British television drama series based on the historical time travel Outlander series of novels by Diana Gabaldon. Developed by Ronald D. Moore and produced bySony Pictures Television and Left Bank Pictures for Starz, the show premiered on August 9, 2014. It stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, a married World War II nurse in 1945 who finds herself transported back to Scotland in 1743, where she encounters the dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and becomes embroiled in the Jacobite risings. In 1945, former World War II nurse Claire Randall and her husband Frank are visiting Inverness, Scotland. Exploring the standing stones at Craigh na Dun, Claire faints after she touches the highest stone, and awakes to find herself in the middle of what appears to be a skirmish between Redcoats and rebel Scottish Highlanders. Rescued from an attack by Frank's sinister double, Redcoat Captain Jonathan "Black Jack" Randall, she uses her medical training to help the injured Scotsman Jamie Fraser. Claire realizes that Randall is Frank's ancestor, and that she seems to have traveled backward in time to 1743. Her skills earn her a place at Castle Leoch as a healer, but she is a veritable prisoner of Clan MacKenzie and cannot travel to the stones to try to return to her own time. Claire and Jamie get closer, and she comes to understand that the Scotsmen are covertly collecting funds for the Jacobite army. Knowing from history that their cause is destined to fail and many Highlanders will die, Claire tries to warn them off. She learns that Randall and Jamie have a bitter history, and Jamie marries Claire to protect her from the sadistic Randall. Claire and Jamie realize they have feelings for each other, but she is still torn thinking about Frank. In 1945, Frank is losing hope that he will find Claire, just as she is delighting in her new marriage to Jamie in the past. Both finally ready to accept that they are lost to each other, circumstance brings Frank and Claire to the standing stones, two centuries apart. They hear each other calling through time, but before Claire can touch the stones she is captured again by Randall's men. We've crossed the halfway mark of Game of Thrones season 6 and the show continues to show no sign of slowing down. Blood of my Blood marks yet another episode of reveals on longstanding mysteries for both book readers and show watchers. The gents of The Cast Beyond the Wall are joined by GoodTrash Media's very own Frightful Femme, Kirsten Therkelson. Things pick up with Bran immediately after last week's tragic sacrifice when he and Meera are rescued by none other than long lost Uncle Benjen Stark. After being attacked by white walkers, he's more zombie now than man, but he remains loyal to the Three-Eyed Raven. We talk a bit about the somewhat anti-climatic reveal as well as the meaning of the flashes of Westerosi history witnessed by Bran. After a week off, the show returned the wretched hive of scum and villainy of King's Landing. This week saw Margery and Tommen making a deal with the High Sparrow which gave him the upper hand when faced with Jaime and the Tyrell army. It was a surprising turn of events that led to Jaime's being set to Riverrun. That's right! After nearly fading into obscurity, Game of Thrones is heading back to the Riverlands to revisit the home of one Walder Frey. We discuss what this could mean heading into what appear to be the final chapter of the show. Like what you hear? Help us produce even more by supporting us on Patreon!
Zombie Night's Watch guy to the rescue! Just how does Bran avoid a frigid end beyond The Wall? What surprise ally has apparently joined forces with Bernie Sparrow? Is The Mother of Dragons actually the villain of this series? And is it too much to ask for one family dinner to pass without grandiose political gesturing? Join Wait Wait...
