In this deeply moving conversation, Sissy and David sit down with beloved children's author Sally Lloyd-Jones to talk about her newest book, Jesus, Our True Friend. Sally shares how her own childhood—being sent to boarding school at eight and clinging to Jesus as her best friend—inspired her lifelong desire to help children know they are never alone. The conversation weaves through themes of perfectionism, grace, hope, and the tender story of Mary and Martha, reminding listeners that God is not disappointed in us—He is delighted in us. It's a rich, honest, joy-filled episode about getting out of the way so the beauty of the gospel can shine through. This episode features a powerful conversation with neurosurgeon Dr. Lee Warren about trauma, faith, and the science of hope. Drawing from his experience serving in Iraq, battling PTSD, and losing his teenage son, Dr. Warren shares how we can't always control what happens to us—but we can influence how we experience it. Through the lens of his book, The Life-Changing Art of Self-Brain Surgery, he explains the neuroscience of neuroplasticity and how changing our thoughts can literally reshape our brains. Together, they explore how parents can help kids build agency, resilience, and real capability by teaching them to challenge their thoughts, pause before reacting, and grow stronger through hardship. DEBUNKED: Exposing Every Lie In Ken Burns' New Anti-American Documentary. Today on the Matt Walsh Show we are going to take a close look at a piece of sophisticated anti-American propaganda just released by PBS and the documentary filmmaker Ken Burns. There is a neverending effort to make Americans embarrassed of their history, and to give credit for its achievements to people who don't deserve it. American history has been rewritten for this purpose. Today we will debunk the lies. Also, Pennsylvania just passed a law against hair discrimination. That sounds absurd, and it is, but it's even worse and more nefarious than you think. In this deeply grounding conversation, Sissy and David sit down with longtime mentor and educator Melissa Trevathan to talk about what kids need spiritually right now. Melissa shares that while children's core longings—to feel safe, loved, and significant—haven't changed, the intensity of anxiety and pressure has. She emphasizes that spiritual formation happens primarily through relationship, not instruction, and encourages parents to create safe, authentic spaces where kids can ask questions, wrestle with doubt, and experience God's grace rather than performance. A few years ago, I read a book that made me think it was reading my mind. In the introduction, the author asks: Do you ever feel like you're running faster but not moving any closer to your goals? Do you want to make a higher contribution but you lack the energy? Are you teetering right on the edge of burnout? I wrote, "Yes, yes, yes!" next to each question in the margin of my copy. The book is Effortless by Greg McKeown, and it's the follow-up to his first book Essentialism, which I talked about in last week's episode. In today's episode, Greg talks about how we can lighten the load of motherhood without burning out. Greg acknowledges that life is genuinely hard—raising children is hard, paying the bills is hard, strained relationships are hard—and he's not promising to eliminate those hardships. But he does offer tools that can help lighten the load, and that's exactly what we talk about in this episode. In this episode, you'll learn:
Federal immigration crackdowns and fraud investigations in deep blue states like Minnesota and California have sparked protests, some turning violent. The Trump administration claims many demonstrations are not organic but orchestrated and funded by “dark money” groups. In this episode, we examine the funding trail with Seamus Bruner of the Government Accountability Institute. Sissy and David sit down with Andy Crouch to talk about what kids need in a tech-saturated world—and why their deepest needs haven't changed. Andy explores how today's screens foster “parasocial” connection, how AI companions could become adolescents' most trusted voices, and why frictionless digital relationships can keep kids from growing through real-life conflict and disappointment. He encourages families to be “tech-wise, not tech-free,” creating intentional rhythms and boundaries—especially around meals, sleep, and bedrooms—so kids can stay grounded in embodied relationships and grow in wisdom and courage. If you ever wondered what 12 days without power, a brand new flat tire, and a wife falling on a sheet of ice all in the same week looks like… welcome to our life.In this episode, we're coming to you straight from the middle of Nashville's ice storm aftermath. Julie's blown a tire on her brand new car, taken a tumble in the driveway, and gotten exactly zero sympathy from her husband. Todd, of course, has opinions about all of it. From “keep your ass at home” to laughing while Julie's laid out like a snow angel, nothing is off limits. But it's not all jokes. We talk about the fear that comes with aging parents living alone and the heartbreaking news story that's been weighing heavy on our hearts. When something like that hits close to home, it makes you look at your own family differently. It makes you hold people tighter. We also dive into what it means to raise strong sons in a world that feels upside down. The difference between leaders and followers. Why who you surround yourself with matters more than you think. And the advice Todd gave Chase that every young man needs to hear: don't go looking for a good girl… be a good guy.Plus, we share an unbelievable message from a young man asking Todd for permission to take Savannah on a date, our thoughts on pop culture headlines, and why communication in marriage sometimes feels like prison court. It's chaotic. It's honest. It's a little emotional. And it's very us. Kristen Jensen, founder of Defend Young Minds and author of Good Pictures Bad Pictures, talks with Sissy and David about why parents need to start conversations about pornography early—ideally as soon as kids have access to screens. She explains how porn often finds kids through friends' devices, social media, apps, and even AI, and why proactive, calm conversations help build an “internal filter” that tech safeguards alone can't provide. Kristen also addresses the link between pornography, addiction, and rising child-on-child harmful behavior, and offers practical steps for parents if exposure happens: stay calm, make a plan, keep talking, and remember that porn is the problem—not your child. The combination of Friday the 13th and Valentine's Day weekend was the only sign we needed to launch season two of Ben After Dark. Right now I am definitely feeling the pull to simplify things in my life. I even said to my husband the other day, "I feel a bit like I'm on a runaway train!" Luckily, it's not the first time I've felt this way. I now know that this happens sometimes and life will suddenly accelerate faster than I intended. But here's what I've learned: I'm not actually on a runaway train. I can choose to get off. The harder question is how—and that's exactly what this episode is about. As I take a break from new episodes this month in an effort to get off the train, it was important to me to re-air this episode that essentially taught me how to figure out what actually needs my energy—and what doesn't. It's based on Greg McKeown's book Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less. Greg's work has been part of my mental bookshelf for a decade, and these lessons about becoming an essentialist help me recalibrate whenever I need them. In this episode, you'll learn:

Sissy Goff and David Thomas talk with Dr. Preston Sprinkle about how parents and the church can help kids navigate identity, gender, and sexuality with both clarity and compassion. Preston emphasizes being a non-anxious presence, starting age-appropriate, Jesus-centered conversations early, and building strong relationships that keep hard conversations open. Together, they explore how conviction and kindness can coexist, why discomfort builds resilience, and how parents can respond without panic or pressure. Stassi and Taylor are finally back in the same room recording without headphones and immediately feel weirdly naked about it. Tay flies in sick but still commits to a very responsible girls' wine night (because priorities), which turns into parent-life chats about kids clocking your wine breath, newborn cuteness rankings (who says 7.8?!), and the universal truth that every child — and adult — goes through at least one painfully awkward phase. Cue Taylor making boys look at her baby pictures and Stassi's full Girls Gone Wild era. They wrap on pure good vibes with the Bad Bunny halftime show so joyful it has them crying, dancing, and remembering there's still hope — and love wins. Thanks for supporting our sponsors:Hiya Health: Receive 50% off your first order. One week after a multi-city European weekend getaway, Kim & Lewis took their talents to the Super Bowl. Additionally, Bad Bunny gave a half time performance for the ages that we simply must discuss. Sissy and David are joined by Megan Michelson and Mary Flo Ridley from Birds & Bees for a practical, hope-filled conversation about protecting kids in today's fast-moving, tech-saturated culture. Together, they share how resilience, discernment, and safety are built through connection, calm parental leadership, and ongoing age-appropriate conversations—rather than one big “talk.” From body boundaries and screen safety to helping kids trust their intuition, the key message is clear: connection equals protection, and starting early helps kids grow up informed, confident, and unafraid to come to their parents. It's easy to notice when your marriage feels disconnected, but it's much harder to know what to actually do about it. And it's even harder to look at your own part in the dynamic instead of just wishing your partner would change. This Valentine's Week, I'm bringing back one of my favorite conversations with Dr. Jennifer Finlayson-Fife, a relationship and sexuality coach whose work has profoundly impacted my own marriage. In this encore episode, she shares three concrete, actionable things we can do right now to become better partners and strengthen our marriages. In this episode, you'll learn:

Jason Kander and Ravi Gupta break down a stunning Democratic upset in a deep-red Texas special election, where labor leader and Air Force veteran Taylor Rehmet crushed a Trump-endorsed Republican by double digits, raising new questions about the political environment heading into the midterms. They analyze what made the race unique, why Hispanic voters proved decisive, Trump's frantic attempts to distance himself from the loss, and what special elections can—and can't—tell us about what's coming next. Kander and Gupta also dive into escalating threats to election integrity, as Fulton County fights the FBI over the seizure of 2020 ballots, Trump openly calls for nationalizing elections, and alarming new reporting surfaces about Tulsi Gabbard, whistleblowers, and federal overreach. Plus, they discuss ICE enforcement chaos in Minnesota, the real economic impact of immigration, and why the rule of law is being stress-tested like never before. In this episode, Sissy Goff and David Thomas sit down with Justin Giboney for a timely, thoughtful conversation about what kids need right now in an increasingly polarized world. Justin weaves together faith, history, and parenting wisdom to explore how compassion and conviction are not opposites but essential partners in forming resilient, grounded kids. Drawing from the Civil Rights Movement, personal stories, and his own parenting, he encourages parents to focus on formation over reaction, to model humility and fortitude, and to help kids build an identity rooted first in who God says they are. For more than a decade, Scheana Shay has lived her life in the public eye, on Vanderpump Rules, in headlines, and under constant scrutiny. But while the world watched one version of her story, a much harder one was unfolding behind closed doors. In this deeply honest sit-down, Scheana opens up about the reality she was carrying while cameras kept rolling. A traumatic, life-threatening birth. Debilitating postpartum OCD and intrusive thoughts that left her afraid of her own mind. And the moment she discovered her husband had cheated, while she was raising a young child and barely surviving herself.Scheana shares what it was like to endure all of this while being judged in real time. To hold herself together on set while falling apart at home. And, for the first time ever, the real reason she decided to stay in her marriage. This episode is a story of resilience. Of a woman rebuilding herself while the world dissected her choices. Of motherhood in its most vulnerable moments. Of mental health struggles that don't wrap up neatly. And of a marriage that broke and had to be rebuilt slowly, imperfectly, and honestly. If you've ever felt like you were falling apart behind a brave face, this episode will stay with you.Trigger warning: birth trauma, postpartum OCD/intrusive thoughts, infidelity. This episode may contain paid endorsements and advertisements for products and services. Sissy and David unpack five things kids need culturally right now: conversation (parents as the calm, safe first source), protection in the real world (body-safety skills and wise supervision), online protection (tools + ongoing check-ins), critical thinking (helping kids evaluate what they see and hear), and a spiritual foundation (identity, hope, and guidance). Their main point: culture will shape kids—but intentional parents can shape them more. Six weeks before I recorded this episode, I woke up early with my heart pounding so hard I couldn't ignore it. The house was dark, everything was quiet, and as I lay there thinking about the medication I was on, the surgeries I'd been through, the pace I'd been keeping, this thought came to me so clearly: This is my life. No one is going to fix this for me. I am the one who has to change this. I was dealing with chronic health issues, and my body was forcing me to confront some hard truths about how I was living. That morning, I realized I couldn't keep pushing through and ignoring what my body was trying to tell me. So I did something that terrified me—I took a full month off from my podcast even though I had 40 people waiting to be guests. That was back in 2019, and I'm re-airing this episode now because I'm taking my own advice again. This time it's different—my health issues from 2019 have resolved, and I'm not in crisis mode. I'm pausing this February simply because I need space to breathe, think, and recalibrate. I'm not waiting for the summer chaos or for things to fall apart. I'm choosing rest before I need it desperately, and I want you to know that you can do the same. In this episode, you'll learn:
Border Czar Tom Homan puts anti-ICE activists on notice, Democrats and the White House reach a deal to end the government shutdown, and a federal minority contracting program bans more than a thousand companies after they refuse to prove they did any work. Dr. Juli Fraga invites parents into the often-overlooked work of tending to their own emotions as a foundation for raising emotionally healthy kids. Drawing from her book Parents Have Feelings Too, she explains how parenting can activate old wounds, how to tell when a big reaction belongs to us rather than our child, and why calm, repair, and self-compassion matter more than getting it “right.” Julie offers practical tools—like the Change Triangle—to help parents name emotions, avoid shame spirals, and model healthy emotional expression, all while reminding listeners that asking for support and doing inner work is not weakness, but a gift to the whole family. Sissy Goff and David Thomas sit down with Dr. Marc Brackett, founding director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, to talk about helping kids—and parents—understand, express, and regulate emotions with wisdom and compassion. Drawing from his own story and decades of research, Marc unpacks why all emotions are information, explains the RULER framework in a practical, parent-friendly way, and offers concrete tools for navigating big feelings at home. From being an “emotion scientist” instead of a judge to learning how to observe rather than absorb our kids' overwhelm, this episode is full of hopeful, actionable insights for raising emotionally healthy kids in today's world. If you have a strong-willed child, you know how much energy they require—and if you have other kids too, you've probably wondered what this dynamic is doing to their siblings. Are they getting lost in the shuffle? Will they resent their brother or sister? Will they resent you? Many parents worry that their quieter child is fading into the background while the spicy one commands all the attention. And even though you're doing your best, it's hard to know how to protect all your kids when one requires so much more support. In this week's episode, I talked with Mary Van Geffen, author of the brand new book Parenting A Spicy One: Raising a Strong-Willed Child Without Breaking Their Spirit or Yours. Mary brings both personal experience as a former spicy child herself and professional expertise as a parenting educator, and she teaches us how to navigate sibling relationships in a way that protects everyone—including the child you might not realize needs protecting. In this episode, you'll learn:
Jill Wine-Banks hosts #SistersInLaw to put the spotlight on a memo telling ICE agents that they can enter homes without a warrant, explain whether these actions are prohibited by the 4th Amendment, and weigh the legality of the DOJ's attempt to wield the FACE and KKK Acts against protestors. Then, the #Sisters lay out Trump's latest attempt to undermine the independence of the Federal Reserve by trying to fire Lisa Cook, and review the Supreme Court's response. They also discuss the DOJ's disclosure that DOGE has potentially been misusing confidential information and how it contributes to the overall undermining of our rights. Start 2026 with style! On this episode of Chrisley Confessions 2.0, Todd Chrisley sits down with Ian Bick for a conversation that doesn't flinch from the messy parts of ambition, mistakes, and what it really takes to rebuild a life in the public eye.Ian is best known as the creator and host of the viral hit podcast Locked In with Ian Bick, where he gives a platform to people sharing raw, firsthand stories about crime, prison, addiction, and redemption. Before becoming a storyteller, Ian lived a headline-grabbing story of his own. As a teenager in Connecticut, he rose fast in the concert promotion world, booking major hip-hop and EDM artists before it all unraveled. That rise and fall led to a federal fraud conviction, time in prison, and ultimately a second act built around accountability, honesty, and giving others space to tell the truth about where they've been and where they're trying to go.In this episode, Ian opens up about the early hustle, the moment everything collapsed, and how prison reshaped his view of success, power, and responsibility. Todd meets him there with his own reflections on the system, redemption, and what it means to speak up when you see something wrong. The result is a conversation that's serious when it needs to be, unexpectedly funny when it can be, and grounded in the belief that people are more than their worst decisions. If you're drawn to stories about second chances, resilience, and the long road back to yourself, this one stays with you.Make sure to like, share, subscribe and leave a comment!Thank you to our sponsors for supporting the show!- Booking.com: This episode of Chrisley Confessions 2.0 is brought to you by Booking.com! His content has reached hundreds of millions of viewers across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Spotify. At 18, Ian became one of the youngest nightclub owners in the country, hosting artists such as Steve Aoki, The Chainsmokers, and 21 Savage. But the rapid success came with high pressure, debt, and a gambling addiction that led him to make destructive choices. At 21, he was convicted of federal wire fraud and served three years in prison. When he was released at 24, Ian didn't return to nightlife or social media. He worked regular jobs for nearly three years, rebuilding quietly and focusing on accountability, mental health, and repairing relationships. During this time, he learned firsthand what reentry really looks like: the stigma, the doubt, the slow climb back. But Ian also knew his story — and the stories of so many others — needed to be told. He began sharing lessons from his past on TikTok, and the response was immediate and overwhelming. In January 2023, he launched Locked In with Ian Bick, a podcast that gives a platform to former inmates, law enforcement, attorneys, survivors, and others whose lives intersect with the criminal justice system. Today, the show has become one of the fastest-growing justice-focused podcasts in the country, known for its raw honesty, emotional depth, and willingness to go where most media won't.Ian now speaks in prisons, schools, recovery programs, and reentry organizations across the United States, connecting with people who feel stuck or defined by their mistakes. His message is real and rooted in lived experience. Ian also operates a full-service studio and content production company, helping other creators and brands share stories with purpose.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This is Kevin Queen's 10th time on That Sound Fun which basically means he just lapped Hall of Fun status twice!! Today he's helping pastor us as we get started on this journey to become spiritually stronger. We talk about one of the tensions you might face as we get started talking about spiritual disciples and rhythms. We don't want any of this to feel like things you need to check off in order to earn something from God, and Kevin has a really helpful way for us to keep that in check. Then we're going to talk about journaling. If we're going to spend 18 months talking about ways to get spiritually stronger, what if we document what God's doing all the way through? Kevin's a big journaler (I am too), so we talk about his process, how he spends his time with God, and the journaling system that works for him. Remember, none of this is meant to be prescriptive. We're not asking you to adopt the same plan that every guest uses or that I use. These are descriptive, so you get an idea and take it to God to decide how you want to grow with Him. We also will continue this conversation (and I'll tell you some of my favorite journaling tips) over on our Substack. We'd love to hear from you in the comments there too.
