Have you ever wanted to watch Mr. Spock go to meeting after meeting after meeting? Then do we have an episode for you! It's “Unification, Part II” and it's an all-new episode of ST:TNGeez, Not . . . NOW!Last time, we waited a whole episode to catch a glimpse of Mr. Spock on Romulus. This time we get a whole episode full of him. Here's Spock in a cave, talking. Here's Spock in a restaurant, talking. Here's Spock in some guy's office, talking. And all the while, Picard and Data are there, sometimes dressed as Romulans, and sometimes not, talking to Spock. So what's all the talk about? Why reuniting the Vulcans and the Romulans into one big, happy, pointy eared family. It seems like there's a movement on Romulus to make it happen with Senator Pardek promising to connect Spock to all the right people, like a group of eager citizens and a smarmy Proconsul. Sounds good, doesn't it? I mean, it's not like the Romulans would be plotting anything underhanded, right? Right? In the meantime, Riker and the rest of the cast are trying to figure out who stole a Vulcan ship from a junkyard. Wait, did we say “Vulcan ship”? A Vulcan ship goes missing while Spock, Picard, and Data are on Romulus talking about reunification? Meh. Probably just a huge coincidence. Anywho . . . Will Picard uncover the Romulan plot? Will Data find a new friend in this old ass Vulcan? Will Spock ever shut the fuck up? Jolan true, Dave!Even more available at: https://tngeez.com

In the latest episode of The Food Professor Podcast, we dive into a wide range of topics, from international trade tensions to the evolving role of social media in the culinary world. We kick off the episode with the announcement that Canada will be the country of honour at the SIAL Food Innovation Show, reflecting on the importance of celebrating Canadian food and innovation during shifting global dynamics. We then turn our attention to the pork industry in Canada, discussing recent geopolitical issues that have led to uncertainty, including tensions with China and auto tariffs from the United States. Sylvain shares insights from his recent talk at the Ontario Pork Convention, where industry stakeholders expressed concerns over market volatility and the potential impact of reduced Chinese pork imports. He discusses how pork producers hope to leverage domestic barbecue season to boost sales, given the rising costs of beef and poultry.Michael and Sylvain also reflect on the political landscape in Canada as an election approaches, discussing how the changing dynamics between the Liberals and Conservatives could impact the agriculture and food sectors. They touch on recent poll swings and analyze the political strategies shaping the campaigns, particularly how geopolitical leadership and dealing with major global players like Trump and China have become central issues. The conversation shifts to business strategy as they discuss Unilever's management challenges with the Ben & Jerry brand, examining how corporate culture clashes between activism and profitability affect the company's public image. The hosts debate whether it was ever a good idea for Unilever to acquire such a distinctively activist brand and speculate on how the unfolding lawsuits might play out.We also discuss the Loblaw body cam pilot project, aimed at enhancing security amid rising organized retail crime. Michael explains the strategic reasons behind implementing body cams, emphasizing the dual purpose of evidence collection and deterrence. Sylvain shares his perspective on the ethical considerations and how other retailers might respond if the initiative proves successful. Finally, the episode's highlight features a captivating interview with Chef Tuệ Nguyễn, celebrated chef, cultural storyteller, and viral content creator. Tuệ, the visionary behind ĐiĐi in Los Angeles and the cookbook Ði Ăn, shares her journey from Vietnam to LA, building her culinary brand and amassing over 1.3 million followers. She discusses authenticity and creativity at the heart of her success and how social media has played a crucial role in driving her restaurant's popularity. This episode delivers a balanced blend of current food industry insights, retail crime analysis, and an inspiring chef's story, making it a must-listen for food enthusiasts and industry professionals.RC Showhttps://www.rcshow.com/https://www.indigo.ca/en-ca/di-an-the-salty-sour-sweet-and-spicy-flavors-of-vietnamese-cooking-with-twaydabae-a-cookbook/9781668003800.html The Food Professor #podcast is presented by Caddle. Finding success as a personal brand, balancing creative work with financial sustainability, and leaving YouTube for Substack with Carla Lalli Music. ----- Welcome to episode 511 of The Food Blogger Pro Podcast! This week on the podcast, Bjork interviews Carla Lalli Music. The Cost of Content and Why Carla Lalli Music left YouTube Carla Lalli Music has been a fixture of food media for the last 15 years, including six years as the Food Director of Bon Appetit. You might also know Carla from her incredibly popular YouTube series, Carla's Cooking Show, her two cookbooks (with a third one in the works!), or her Substack newsletter, Food Processing. In this interview, Carla dives into her recent viral Substack post about her decision to leave YouTube, including her transparent breakdown of the costs of creating content on YouTube (spoiler alert: she was losing money). Carla also explains more about why she doesn't create recipes for SEO and how she uses connection with her audience as her north star when making business decisions. Three episode takeaways: How to find success as a personal brand — Carla has created a business rooted in her personal brand and exceptional and reliable recipes rather than focusing on SEO. She prioritizes authentic connection with her audience, entertainment value, and community over crafting content purely for algorithmic success, a strategy that she is hopeful will help her recipes and content stand out in the age of AI. The challenges of balancing creative work with financial sustainability — Despite the joy she (initially) found when making YouTube videos for her channel and a team she loved collaborating with, the financial reality of her video production costs ($3500 per video) and the declining and limited revenue from Google ads led Carla to reevaluate her place on the platform. In addition, the tight production schedule required to produce four high-quality recipe videos a month left Carla with little bandwidth to create content for Substack or her upcoming cookbook. How to recognize when something is no longer serving you or your business — After producing 177 full-length episodes for Carla's Cooking Show, Carla's decision to step away from YouTube was ultimately a choice based on finances, psychological toll, limited bandwidth, and diminishing returns. Carla and Bjork discuss the sustainability of content creation on platforms like YouTube and how creators have to analyze what is moving the needle in their business and, ultimately, what kind of creator they want to be. What is Indian food in America? The country's identity as a melting pot makes for a diverse tapestry of flavors, but that doesn't always equate to easily being able to identify one's place in the culinary landscape. In her debut cookbook Amrikan: 125 Recipes From the Indian Diaspora, acclaimed Food & Wine writer and editor Khushbu Shah presents instructions for preparing dinners, drinks, and desserts as varied as Saag Paneer Lasagna, Pani Puri Mojitos, and Masala Chai Basque Cheesecake. But Shah goes beyond instructions and ingredients, writing about the larger story of Indian food. In a 2019 interview with the New York Times, Shah said, “Food is undeniably intersectional. It's impossible — it's irresponsible — to deny it.” Amrikan is replete with images and essays that illuminate this fusion of cuisine and culture, showcasing the links between food and identity. Khushbu Shah is a food writer and journalist who resides in Los Angeles, California. She was most recently the restaurant editor at Food & Wine magazine, where she crisscrossed the United States several times over on the hunt for the country's best new chefs. She is the youngest person and the first person of color to ever hold that title. You can also find her work in the New York Times, Washington Post, GQ, Eater, and more. Additionally, her writing has been featured in the Best American Food Writing anthologies, and she has made appearances on television shows like Ugly Delicious. Khushbu grew up in Michigan, where her immigrant parents raised her with a deep appreciation for spices and good fruit. This is her debut cookbook. J. Kenji López-Alt is a chef, parent, and New York Times best-selling author of The Food Lab, The Wok and Every Night Is Pizza Night.
