“Send Coach John a message”Out walking our dog sharing some gratitude reflections on a special day for me. I started the day off with breakfast with one of my longtime friends (we have known each other for 55 years) and then some wonderful moments sitting with my wife before going out later with some friends to have a little “golfing” fun, then dinner after. My wife and I have been celebrating for a week or so along with carrying it out through the next few days. We saw my parents, my sister and her husband yesterday for a brunch celebration. It's been a great time and Gratitude has been a big part of me getting here. Find yours too. It's a difference maker for sure. Thanks for listening. Hey Retro Gamers! For the holiday season this year I've decided to casually record a "12 Games of Christmas" series, in which I plan to share 12 video games that are in some way meaningful to me, or that will (hopefully) paint a picture of me as a gamer.I typically do a rapid-fire Q&A session with first-time guests to help you get to know their gaming tastes, but I've never done such a thing about myself for you, so here it is!Today's episode is Day 12! We made it! And for a very special day, I have a very special game. As of December 12th, 2025, if I HAAAAAAD to choose a game as the "Greatest Game of All Time" then it would be this one, a game I love very much and one that has already brought me just shy of 400 hours of festive, joyful playtime since its release, even though I haven't played more than an hour of that in 2025.Music Credits"Song of Storms" used under Creative Commons Attribution license.Provided by GameChopsProduced by Coffee Date Mastered by Dj CutmanComposed by Koji KondoOriginally from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Delivered by Vallerie Koh from Saint Edmund Church of Limbang in the Diocese of Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia. 2 Samuel 7: 1-5.8b-12.16; Rs psalm 89: 2-3.4-5.27.29; Luke 1: 67-79.A VISIT LIKE ABRIGHT DAWN Our reflectionon the morning of December 24 is themed A Visit Like a Bright Dawn. Onenight, a father and his son had a serious argument before going to sleep. Theydisagreed about the family business they were running together. They did notmake peace and went to bed feeling upset. The son thought his father's ideaswere old-fashioned, so he did not take the argument seriously. For thefather, however, the harsh words hurt him deeply. He could not sleep at all. Nomatter how he lay down, he could not find peace. He got up, sat down, andwalked around the room, but still, he could not sleep. He only wished the nightwould end quickly. When morning came with its bright light, he wanted to seehis son, smile at him, say sorry, and hug him warmly. The fatherwanted to let go of his anger and resentment. His prayer was that the darknight would pass quickly so that he could make peace with his son in themorning. This experience is something we all can understand. Especially as weprepare to celebrate Christmas, many of us long to be visited by the brightdawn, the source of life—God Himself. Zechariah sings a song of praise, sayingthat God comes to visit His people. God frees them from their enemies, removesthe darkness, and brings light to those who are waiting for salvation. On the morningof December 24, the rising sun reminds us that its light shines brightly sothat we and our families may stay joyful throughout the day. Even though thesun sets in the evening and night comes, the light of Jesus Christ does notfade. He remains the bright dawn, and that night we celebrate His birth. In Zechariah'ssong, the dawn comes from above and shines on those who live in darkness andfear. We must admit that some members of the Church have stayed away from thislight for a long time and are only now ready to receive it. All of us—those whoare ready and those who are still preparing—let us rejoice as we welcome theBright Dawn who comes to visit us. Let us pray. In the name of the Father…O God, help us prepare our hearts well for the celebration of Christmastonight.Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in thebeginning, it's now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.In the name of the Father…

Delivered by Father Peter Tukan, SDB from Salesian Don Bosco Gerak in the Diocese of Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. Malachi 3: 1-4; 4: 5-6; Rs psalm 25: 4bc-5ab.8-9.10.14; Luke 1: 57-66.THE MEANING OF THE BIRTH OF JOHN THEBAPTIST Our meditation today is themed: TheMeaning of the Birth of John the Baptist. The story of the birth of John theBaptist in the Gospel of Luke brings us to an amazing event and full of faithinstruction. Those around Elizabeth thought that the child should have beennamed after his father or relative. Culture is the standard used for givingnames. It is a natural custom, a sign offamily continuity and tradition. But Elizabeth stood firm and said, "Hisname is John." Elizabeth had a stance that transcended culture andtradition. Faith in God is more important to her and her family. When Zechariahwrote the same thing on a tablet, it was revealed that what was happening wasnot just the choice of name, but obedience to God's will. Zechariah thenrecovered from his mute. The name “John” comes from the Hebrewword Johnan, which means "God is merciful" or "God pleases."With this name, God declared from the beginning that John's life was not hisown, nor was it merely a continuation of the human lineage, but a sign of God'slove and mercy for His people. John was born as a manifestation of God'smerciful intervention, especially for Elizabeth and Zechariah who had beenwaiting for a child for a long time. Elizabeth's and Zechariah's attitudesinvite us to ponder: do we dare to give up our personal habits, hopes, or plansin order to obey God's will? In this story, faith is not only expressed throughprayer, but through concrete obedience. To name the child John is to admit thatGod knows better, is more sovereign, and more merciful than human logic. John's own birth was a miracle. Butthe Gospels clearly show that this miracle is not the end goal. John was bornto prepare the way, open the hearts, and awaken the consciousness of the peopleto be ready to welcome God's greater work. John's life from the beginning hadbeen directed out of himself, toward the One who was to come after. This is where the meaning of faith forus as followers of Christ is deepened. We are invited to realize that our livesalso have a purpose beyond ourselves. Like John, we are called to be guides, witnesses of God's love, and openers of hearts to God's presence in the world.Living in faith means being willing to be a means, not a center. Ultimately, the miracle of John'sbirth prepares us to welcome a much greater miracle: the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior. John reminds us that a merciful God faithfully keeps his promises. Let us pray. In the name of the Father ... O God ofall goodness and love, make us Your servants to proclaim the coming of JesusChrist to strengthen and free people from all obstacles that lead them astrayon the way to You. Our Father who art in heaven... In the name of the Father...

Presented by Melissa Heidy from the Parish of Christ the King in the Archdiocese of Makassar, Indonesia. 1 Samuel 1: 24-28; Rs psalm: 1 Sam 2: 1.4-5.6-7.8abcd; Luke 1: 46-56.PREPARATIONFOR BIRTH Our reflection today is entitled Preparation for Birth. The dayof the birth of Jesus Christ is very near. The most appropriate preparation forus is preparation for this birth. Our reflections over the past days haveprepared us for this very moment. Today we reflect on the birth of John theBaptist, who prepares the way for a birth far greater than his own. The twoinfants had already met in their mothers' wombs when the Virgin Mary visitedElizabeth. This meeting can be seen as a sign: John was born first to announceto the world that the birth of the Messiah would soon follow. Sacred Scripturetells us clearly that their births happened one after the other. The birth ofJohn the Baptist fulfills the prophecy of Scripture and God's plan. He wouldbecome a voice crying out in the wilderness, preparing the way for the comingof the Word. His birth also prepares the way for repentance and liberation fromdarkness, blindness, ignorance, and sin. This preparation begins with his ownfather, Zechariah, whose mouth was opened after a time of silence before hisson was born. The birth ofJohn the Baptist inspires us to be born anew before Christmas. Spiritually, weare called to be reborn. Our baptism is our new birth in Christ. Through thesacrament of Confirmation, we receive the Holy Spirit and are born in theSpirit. Each time we take part in the Eucharist, we receive new life as theWord of God becomes flesh. Our confession of faith in The Apostle's Creed, ourprayers and devotions strengthen our new life in Christ. All of these are meantto be lived faithfully and regularly. As Christmasis only a few days away, we should take time to reflect on our rebirth infaith. We remember how we have grown throughout this year. This renewal becomeslike a festive garment that clothes us, fills our minds and hearts, expressesour gratitude, and prepares us to be reborn. It is rightand good for us to experience a beautiful encounter: an encounter with life. Weare reborn through the holy Church, through the eternal Word who became humanand was born of the blessed Virgin, and we enter the same Church. Let us pray. In the name of the Father… Merciful God, renewus by Your Spirit, so that we may be reborn and ready to welcome the birth ofJesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Hail Mary… In the name of the Father…

Zack Ponder shares his raw journey from struggling entrepreneur with a DUI to becoming a present father who homeschools four kids while his wife battles cancer. A former special education teacher who worked with profound autism students, Zack discovered God through the daily challenges of non-speaking, violent students and translated those insights into his books "Special Days" and the upcoming "Happy Days" devotional. Now splitting time between his construction business in North Idaho and Southern California where his wife receives treatment, Zack opens up about the transformation from doing the right things to actually being present, learning to ask "what" instead of "why" when facing hardship, and discovering that his podcast interviewing special needs parents became unexpected training for finally seeing and hearing his own wife. He discusses the critical shift that happened six months ago when he truly embraced fatherhood in the hospital, realizing that if he didn't keep it together and lead, his family would fall apart. Zack vulnerably shares about living with in-laws for ten months, the reality of needing God moment-by-moment through daily challenges, and why he believes comfort is the enemy of growth for fathers.Guest LinksThe Unspecial Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-unspecial-podcast/id1829866470Instagram: @unspecialllc or @zackponderWebsite: unspecialllc.com---------Transform Your Body with Ned & RUK Fitness: RUK FitnessThis episode is sponsored by The Adventure of FatherhoodOrder The Adventure of Fatherhood children's book hereCheck out the TEDx----------Want to learn more about The Adventure of Fatherhood?https://www.adventureoffatherhood.com/https://www.rebelandcreate.com/Each week Ned sits down with a dad and asks him to open up his field notes and share with other men who find themselves on the Adventure of Fatherhood.
