Today I found another great reminder that it seemed was posted just for me and it came from Liminal (@Liminal1988)  where it was shared that “After a certain age,...” we should really be responsible for our lives and where we are at. We can stop blaming our past, others, our mishaps, mistakes, etc., and realize we are where we are due to the choices we have made up until that point. Love the line that “you can either take ownership of your life or become a prisoner to excuses.” This is really not a surprise to me, for I agree with it 100%. Everything that I do, needs to be working toward the life I want to continue to build to help others, especially my family and those that I love!  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.

This was eye-opening for me. When I came across this post from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) which shares a great idea as to what inner peace is all about. This reminded us that: “Inner Peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions.”  The first thing that came to my mind was the fact that I need to work on this a lot more and that every day brings us many times where we have to deal with other people and events that make it tough.  But then as I was recording, I thought about that and I took the view that I'm getting plenty of opportunities to strengthen this “muscle” of choice - and that's how I'm going to get better! I can't complain about these people and events - they are going to be there no matter what! I can focus on using them as moments / lessons, where I can get better! That was a very powerful mindshift for me. Life is all about getting better, whenever & wherever we can.

Saw a fantastic list that got me thinking about things that not only money can't buy, but also realizing these things are more valuable than money AND they are all things that I (and maybe others) need to keep getting better with.  From Power of Positivity (@LIVEpositivity) This list here shows “Things money can't buy: 1. Manners 2. Morals 3. Respect 4. Character 5. Common sense 6. Trust 7. Patience 8. Class 9. Integrity 10. Love.” The other thing that I noticed about this list is that the world needs more people living more and more in their everyday lives.  Also remember that since there are not many people living these - when we do live things on this list, we end up looking better - all thanks to those that choose not to be examples.

This book is one that I know I will be recommending to many people. As I  continue to read Jon Gordon's latest book, “The 7 Commitments of a Great Team”, the lessons that are available for all of us remind me that I need to simply just work on getting better every single day. I hope, since you are listening to this podcast and probably others, that you want to keep improving too.  In this final part 5 of 5 Ways to Stay Positive, this one is titled “Talk to yourself. Don't listen to yourself.” Remember there is the acronym of LIGHT for these 5 steps and this is the final one, the “T”.  This is one of my favorites because I need this reminder every single day!  Instead of letting my own negative & self-defeating voice direct my day, I need to talk to myself and be my own biggest encourager & cheerleader!!  Since we are the thoughts that we think & believe, we might as well be thinking and believing our best!!  I can't believe the negative ones, I need to connect with & live out the positive ones. Nobody is going to do this for me, I need to speak these into existence into my own life.  Love these reminders of these 5 lessons.

This book is a good one. As I  continue to read Jon Gordon's latest book, “The 7 Commitments of a Great Team”, the lessons that are available for all of us are powerful and life-changing.  In part 4 of 5 Ways to Stay Positive, this one is titled “Have Faith.” Remember there is the acronym of LIGHT for these 5 steps and this one is the “H”.  When it comes down to it, Faith helps us to connect with the idea that things are going to get better. Of course we need to understand that challenges will come along in life.. Many of them of course… but we also need to understand (and believe) that we will overcome them.  Love this line from the book - “Trust that struggle leads to strength and setbacks lead to comebacks.” This is something that I need to work on for sure. John O'Leary (https://johnolearyinspires.com/) says it all the time, that we should believe that “the best is yet to come.”   Thanks for listening.

As I gladly continue to read Jon Gordon's latest book, “The 7 Commitments of a Great Team”, I am fired up about continuing to gather so many life lessons. In part 3 of 5 Ways to Stay Positive, this one is titled “Get To.” Remember there is the acronym of LIGHT for these 5 steps and this one is the “G”.  This one is right to my heart as Jon reminds us about when we find ourselves complaining - which I still need to work on - we need to remind ourselves that we “get to” do things in our miracle of life, instead of “having to do” them.  When we are able to focus on Gratitude, we can move from being selfish, frustrated, and stressed to more of an attitude of gratitude, appreciation and abundance.  I love this reminder: “Research shows that you can't be stressed and thankful at the same time. If you are feeling grateful, you won't feel stressed.”  He is 100% on target. I just need to do it a bit more often, every day!! I am working on it so it becomes more of a habit.

As I continue to read Jon Gordon's new book, “The 7 Commitments of a Great Team”, I continue to pick up so many life lessons. In part 2 of 5 Ways to Stay Positive, this one is titled “Inside Out.” Remember there is the acronym of LIGHT for these 5 steps and this one is the “I”.  Jon reminds us that the real truth and power of our lives comes from inside us, not from the outside world. I love this point that he brings up that as we create our life from the inside out, it's all about our spirit, our soul, our passion, and our power from within us. If you're struggling with manifesting money, love, or success, it might be because you're spiritually blocked. In this powerful throwback conversation, David Ghiyam, co-founder of Mary Ruth Organics and leading Kabbalah teacher, reveals the ancient spiritual principles that govern abundance and why most people unknowingly sabotage their own manifestation. David breaks down: – Why your soul chooses specific challenges to accelerate your growth – The two biggest spiritual blocks preventing you from receiving abundance – How judgment creates karmic debt and keeps you stuck in painful cycles – Why competing desires sabotage your manifestation (and how to align them) – The spiritual flywheel: creating unstoppable momentum in 24 hours – How childhood trauma and family dynamics shape your vessel for receiving – The difference between punishment-based religion and true spiritual transformation This isn't your typical manifestation content. David shares profound insights from Kabbalah that explain why some people effortlessly attract success while others struggle despite doing "all the right things." He reveals how taking complete responsibility for your reality and transforming your spiritual baggage opens the floodgates to receiving everything you desire. Whether you're an entrepreneur, parent, or anyone seeking deeper fulfillment, this conversation will shift how you understand success, relationships, and your soul's purpose. #kabbalah #manifestation #spirituality David Ghiyam Instagram: @davidghiyam ==== Thank You To Our Sponsors! I just got started reading Jon Gordon's new book, “The 7 Commitments of a Great Team”, and it's got some powerful lessons in it. Since teams are always a part of life, and it's not just sports, I wanted to share these 5 parts of Staying Positive. Over the next five days I'll be sharing some of my thoughts from his book.  He's all talking about “living LIGHT.” I'll explain what that means throughout this coming week. To start us off,  part 1 is all about “Love instead of Fear”. He brings up a couple of great points. Jon reminds us that Love puts a shadow on fear and helps to get rid of it.  Fears are out to weaken us, put limits on us and strikes doubt all around us. Remember, Love is a choice! Contrary to what some people think - love is a big-time strength, not a weakness like some people think. I feel bad for those people that think it's a weakness.

From a classic difference maker that has helped millions of people, this longtime golden advice comes from the great Jim Rohn and it's shared by Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) where Jim reminds us to “Go for the pain of discipline, it weighs ounces. The pain of regret weighs tons.”  Every time I hear or read this quote, it hurts. I have let things go for a long time where regrets are starting to get bigger. I've known it for 25 years or so on things that I wanted to create, go after, build, try, etc. All I can do - all any of us can do, is to use today to do something about those things. The discipline to do something today will be for sure easier than to try it later as we get older. Lot's of personal reflections for me here in this one. Hope it helps you too.

Gratitude treats all things the same.” I love my coffee and I have always found joy, solitude, peace, etc., with my coffee. For sure, I don't want a yacht or anything that can be labeled as fancy. It's how you treat others that speak the loudest.” The second connection came from Coach AJ  Mental Fitness (@coachajkings) where he shares this classic reminder from one of the greats of any sport and all of history -   “John Wooden said, “Helping others is perhaps the greatest joy! You cannot have a perfect day without helping others with no thought of getting something in return.” Acts of service enrich our lives. It means selflessness, kindness, and serving. This one stood out to me because I know I have fears and I know they are getting in the way of me living my life to the fullest.  It comes from Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) and it's a short but powerful reminder: “The fears we don't face become our limits.” - Robin Sharma.  I have had things getting in my way for 20 + years and to top that off, not only do I know about them - a few of my best friends know it too. You see, they have been around me that long, always encouraging me that I can do these things, but the final decision needs to come from me. Another key element. Since it's been 20 or so years, I look ahead to another 20 years.  Yikes!!  I'll be just around the corner (if I'm blessed enough to see this corner) from turning 80 years old!!!! Time waits for nobody!!  I don't have all the time in the world where we think we do sometimes.  I will continue to try and “talk to myself, rather than listen to myself” in going after whatever I have to do to get through these fears. When I step back a bit, they really are not that big of a deal for sure.

Again, it happened again. A message that not only I needed to see, but that I have been reminded about it from different places. This time it came from Power of Positivity (@LIVEpositivity) where this message was shared: “You will never hear another person's voice more than you hear your own. Be intentional about the way that you talk to yourself.”  It's an old saying that I have heard for a long time, but since I needed it as recently as this morning, I needed to share it with you. It's connected with - “talk to yourself rather than listen to yourself.”  Most of the time when I'm feeling down about things in life, I start listening to the critic inside of me, instead of the coach and cheerleader!  I know I need to continue to tap into that coach & cheerleader, without me having to wait for this quote coming back into my life.  It's something I know I need to do, want to do, and will do!!  How about you?

Tune in here to this Tuesday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by discussing Governor Newton’s leadership and the consequences of his policies, particularly focusing on immigration and public safety. He argues that Newton’s tenure has led to increased strain on public resources, citing rising numbers of undocumented immigrants and associated social challenges. Brett then transitions to broader concerns about civil unrest in major cities, questioning whether the public has come to expect disorder as a norm in politically left-leaning areas. Brett emphasizes individual responsibility and personal agency. Drawing on the Stoic philosophy of Marcus Aurelius, he encourages listeners to reject passivity and take ownership of their lives and futures. He challenges the audience to avoid media-driven fear and distraction, and instead pursue meaningful goals with clarity and urgency. Using the metaphor of “burning the boats,” Brett calls for full commitment to personal and national renewal—insisting that change begins with decisive action and focused intention. Found a post about some really good advice that I have heard shared from others too. This one came from The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) where they shared: “The best weight you will ever lose is the weight of other people's opinions of you.”  I have always remembered the line that reminds us that opinions are like people's backsides, everyone has one. The world seems to be never short of others' opinions and it can be tough to not only filter through them, but to also not let them get to us. Having confidence in ourselves in things we want to do helps to focus on what we can control and not worry so much about the opinion of others. Our lives and our troubles can lighten up a bit when we get rid of those opinions from others.

Saw another great post that had a very simple, yet powerful reminder for all of us and it came from POSITIVITY (@PositivitySaid) “Just enjoy life. The things that I want to do, need to do, get to do, etc., and as I get older, some of those things (and many others), will only get more difficult with age and time adding up.  It's true for all of us - make sure we remind ourselves of this point every day!

I love the simple fact that we can work on our dreams, work on our habits along with working on our self-discipline. This is, of course, easier said than done. Timing seems to be everything when you need a reminder that things are going to be ok, even when I get down on myself and I wonder if I will get through the troubles I'm dealing with.  Well then a couple of things - first I saw this post from Positively Present (@positivepresent) “Some of the best moments are coming… The film of your life is still playing. Some of the best moments of your life are still to come.” A wonderful reminder for me that “my movie” is still being played out and better things are coming. The second thing - it always seems to happen where I get a text, a call, an email or a message on social media from someone reaching out and lifting my spirits. I did the same to a colleague last week and then in a conversation with that colleague this past weekend, I found out the perfect timing of my message was when him and his family were dealing with something that recently had happened. Then the morning of this recording, a former student of mine reached out thanking me for our time together in my classes before she graduated 7 years ago.  That was a big uplift for me on this challenging day. Found a great reminder - a simple reminder that I know I need and I think the entire world needs too.  It comes from The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) and the message is:  “Being a good person does not depend on your religion, status in life, race, skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how you treat others.” So much of what we see on how some people treat others - it's a horrible lesson of what not to do. It seems humans have never gotten this lesson right. I, of course, am one of those humans that needs to work on this “skill”, “choices”, “habits”, etc. One thing I will be doing, every day - is to try and get better on how I treat others and this starts with me treating me, much better than what I've been doing. Well, I went back to back with today's thoughts - leaning on The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) again, because I saw an important need to share this. I know I need this reminder on a daily basis, and I know others do too.  This message is “Let It Go.  If you can't do anything about it then let it go. Don't be a prisoner to the things you can't change.” This is something that I've been focusing in on that if I'm looking back too often on things that I've done, not done, said, didn't say, etc., that I need to grab onto the lesson to help me be better & then move on.  Again, where are my feet at? I'm here. Right now, I'm where I'm at.  The choices I've made in my life have helped to guide me where I'm at today.  That's what I need to focus on, so that my day can be great and that helps my tomorrows be great too.  That way I will have a better connection to my past, a stronger one, one that has a more powerful & positive impact on my future, “todays”.  Again, this message hit me strong, so I figured that others might find it helpful too.

Found another post that I really thought was created just to show me. However, I didn't see my name attached to it, but it sure felt like it was. So for me to settle for my life (I'm in love with my life), but … I know I can keep getting better at this life I love so much, that's for sure.  I hope you can make a connection to some of these points for the life you want or already have parts of it. When I saw this post from Self-Care Canvas (@selfcarecanvas) it of course came to me as so many people are showing themselves to be the exact opposite (multiple times a day) of this quote: “Be humble and never think you are better than anyone else.  We all leave this world with nothing.”  It's both sad to me and also amazing how so many don't get this simple, yet valuable point.  I know / I believe that we do leave with the love & relationships that we had for others in our lifetime! We leave that behind for others too. Now, I also believe that the world has SO MANY examples of people living lives that are not humble, not serving others, not showing kindness & empathy, etc. So we have plenty of examples of what we don't want to be in life. We need to be the example for others as to a better way to live our lives. Again, sorry for getting fired up and emotional with this episode, but I'm beginning to see things with a bit more clarity every single day!!  I hope this helps you to do the same.

I found a super strong & powerful post that got me fired up and it only has seven words to it. This came from the Power of Positivity (@LIVEpositivity) “Strong people rarely have an easy past.”  As I got to thinking about this, I started seeing myself in a way that I usually don't see myself at all.  I realize I'm a lot stronger than I give myself credit for due to the “storms” I have been through.  It also occurred to me that I am a lot stronger and better because of the storms that my loved ones have gone through as well. This episode I got a bit fired up and emotional (I know, big surprise… LOL) as I really started to see myself and my loved ones in not only a different light, but a much stronger & clearer light too!! I hope this episode shows you about the true statement from Morrie Schwartz, from Mitch Albom's “Tuesdays With Morrie” - where he reminded us that “death ends a life, not a relationship.” If we keep working on our relationships in life, and not what the world tells us is important, we will keep getting stronger for sure.

Every single man listening to this is familiar with discipline and has applied it (to varying degrees) in his life. We generally think of discipline as an overall good thing (and, I think it is) but it can often lead to bouts of frustration and unnecessary suffering if utilized incorrectly. My guest today, Craig Ballantyne, makes the case that discipline, although, a powerful force for productivity comes with strings attached, and isn't the end-all, save-all it's often made out to be. Today, we talk about what true discipline is not, why chasing the wrong target is so common and what to do about it, what I call the “self-help hangover” and how to avoid it, why you should know the distinction between standards and expectations, and how to avoid what Craig calls, “The Doom Loop” in your life. WOW.. this one hit me hard… right in the heart.  It came from liminal (@Liminal1988) and it's a note that is titled “Dear Younger Me.”  It starts out “You didn't know many things. You didn't know how life would turn out, or why certain things were happening to you. And that's ok….” and the last couple of lines “.... You're still learning, still healing. There's always something good in you. There was always something special about you. Then, and even now.”  This got me thinking about my younger self and how that part of me (all the parts of my younger self) is still with me. The saying of how our past is our best mentor still rings true. I think it becomes even more valuable and special, when we are able to connect it to the memories, feelings, emotions, etc., of our younger self(s). Make sure you look this one up & take it to heart to make changes that you can connect with for your life!

This post hit home with me simply because I think we need more people pulling for others rather than hoping that others lose or have troubles.  I'm certainly trying to follow what the Power of Positivity (@LIVEpositivity) shares here with this:  “Call me crazy but I love to see people happy and succeeding. Life is a journey, not a competition.” To me, this is a good kind of “crazy” to be - encouraging others to win in life compared to being a critic and wanting others to lose.  The world needs more people to look at celebrating others, instead of criticizing people.

But, DON'T panic, because today's episode is packed with simple steps to help you take control of your blood sugar and lower your risk of diabetes and chronic disease. On this Salad with a Side of Fries episode, host Jenn Trepeck tackles the hard truth: many people are already pre-diabetic and don't even know it. From hidden insulin resistance to chronic inflammation, Jenn breaks down how the American diet and lifestyle are fueling a national health crisis. You'll learn how poor sleep, stress, a lack of fiber, and nutrient-depleted foods undermine your metabolic health—and what you can do today to take control and manage your risks. The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, who discusses wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store.IN THIS EPISODE:(00:00) Why is the Standard American diet the recipe for pre-diabetes and diabetes, and what is insulin resistance(04:18) Metabolic health connects to every system, and the ultra-processed food dilemma(09:48) Why supplements are important(14:30) Everyone is pre-diabetic, unless. Modern farming, soil depletion, and long-distance transport have stripped our food of nutrients, making quality sourcing and supplementation essential.Staying ahead of metabolic disease means taking daily action—moving your body, managing stress, eating well, sleeping, and staying connected.  Even a short walk after a meal can significantly reduce blood sugar spikes. Daily activity improves energy and focus, builds muscle, enhances insulin sensitivity, and monitors glucose levels.Just because a drink is labeled “prebiotic” doesn't mean it replaces real vegetables. Whole fruits and vegetables provide a variety of fibers that support gut health more effectively than most supplements or processed drinks. You can't supplement your way out of poor nutrition. Supplements are only as good as their quality. Many synthetic options don't break down or absorb adequately, making them useless. Food first, then smart supplementation.Chronic stress triggers hormonal changes that lead to insulin resistance and fat storage. The damage builds over time because most people don't recognize their stress. Managing stress is just as crucial as managing diet and exercise.QUOTES:         (08:56) “Our food supply is ripening while in transit, not connected to the vine where nutrients come from.” - Jenn Trepeck(18:54) “Variety is your friend. Eat the rainbow.” - Jenn Trepeck(23:30) “I'm a big fan of supplements, but you cannot supplement your way out of poor nutrition. Food first, then mart supplementation.” - Jenn Trepeck(39:36) “Next time you need to replace a mattress or a pillow. Let's make sure it's a material that isn't going to off-gas toxins.” - Jenn Trepeck"It comes down to default vs design because the way our world is set-up around us, the default would easily be the recipe for pre-diabetes and diabetes.
