“Send Coach John a message”I always love seeing some of the same strong people, who continue to post things on a regular basis that help others. A former student of mine who is now a fabulous teacher and coach, Coach Ray Ostrowski (@CoachRayO3313) is definitely one of those people that are a quality difference maker for others. Here is his intro for the post I saw today: “Your % matters. You can't be a part-timer & expected to receive full-time benefits & rewards. Break ‘what you do' up into a % based on your number of opportunities & see how you stack up. Are your outcomes in line with your expectations? Does your % help or hurt your effort?” Now remember, he writes these quotes out every day on a big white board in marker, for his students / players to see! He's sharing these gems for anyone that wants to keep getting better - even if we are not in high school any more or that we don't play football either. That's the beauty of being a lifetime learner… it happens every day if you go looking for it. The quote that he wrote out is this: “% Matters! You can't be a part-timer & expect full time benefits & rewards. In sports, percentages matter - 75% from the line is solid, while .350 from the plate is elite. But in life, what % of the work are you actually doing? If you're only showing up for half the reps, half the prep & half the effort - don't expect the whole result. There isn't much middle ground for commitment & excuse. The scoreboard will reflect your investment.” WOW!! Take that to heart my friends. This got me thinking about my % as connected to my everyday life. What's my “batting average” for each day? Am I even getting to the plate to take an at bat or am I content sitting in the bleachers and “resting” because it's more comfortable and I “get to” or “I've earned it” since I'm retired. Dang Coach Ray…. you got this guy doing some deep thinking with this one my friend. Thank You! (I hope he's got you thinking too my friends.) Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found a new connection for this episode, and even if it's coming out a tad late, I still had to share it with you. It's from Bob Coniglio (@BobConiglio) and his message that goes with the quote is to “Enjoy the day.” The thought he shared was this: “Connection is why we're here. It is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.” ~ Brene Brown. Life is indeed all about connections. It's about the people we build relationships with throughout life. It's the sparks that we connect with that fuel our passion and our purpose. Here is the link for the speech (ordinary people do extraordinary things) from Coach Jim Valvano - HERE. It's also the daily living we choose to go after that connects with both - people and our purpose. Keep investing in those choices every day my friends. As long as I live, I want to keep making these connections every day I have. How about you? Thanks for listening. This talk is the fifth installment in a wellness series that takes a distinctly yogic approach to understanding life's challenges and spiritual development.Acharya das discusses the concept of "false shelter" (durashraya in Sanskrit) - the tendency to place unlimited trust in things that cannot provide genuine protection or happiness. He uses examples ranging from relationships and material possessions to modern technology and social media to illustrate how people become victims of their own poor choices rather than external circumstances. He stresses the importance of taking personal responsibility for life decisions and developing consequential thinking.Acharya das concludes with an emphasis on the importance of cultivating atma-tattva (knowledge of the soul/self) and the necessity of reconnecting with the Supreme Soul as the only genuine source of shelter and protection. He advocates for regular chanting meditation as a transformative practice that can lead to self-realization and God-realization, describing it as an immersive experience rather than a mental activity. Quotes used in the talk:For him who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends; but for one who has failed to do so, his very mind will be the greatest enemy. Bhagavad-gītā 6.6For one whose mind is unbridled, self-realization is difficult work. But he whose mind is controlled and who strives by right means is assured of success. That is My opinion. Bhagavad-gītā 6.36When a man in the material world takes more interest in the materialistic way of life than in spiritual/God consciousness, he is considered to be in a diseased condition. The normal condition is to remain an eternal servant of the Lord. This healthy condition is lost when the living entity forgets God due to being attracted by the external features of Krsna's maya energy. This world of maya is called durasraya, which means “false or bad shelter.” One who puts his faith in durasraya becomes a candidate for hoping against hope. In the material world everyone is trying to become happy, and although their material attempts are baffled in every way, due to their nescience [ignorance] they cannot understand their mistakes. People try to rectify one mistake by making another mistake. This is the way of the struggle for existence in the material world. If one in this condition is advised to take to [cultivating] God consciousness and be happy, he does not accept such instructions. – Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaPersons devoid of ātma-tattva do not inquire into the problems of life, being too attached to the fallible soldiers like the body, children and wife. Although sufficiently experienced, they still do not see their inevitable destruction. Bhāgavata Purāṇa 2.1.4“One who is not connected with the Supreme Soul can have neither transcendental intelligence nor a steady mind, without which there is no possibility of peace. And how can there be any happiness without peace?” – Bhagavad-gītā 2.66Chapters 00:00:00 Introduction to Yogic Wellness Philosophy 00:02:14 The Threefold Miseries and Realistic Expectations 00:04:35 Historical Foundation: Sanatana Goswami's Questions 00:13:32 Personal Responsibility in Relationships and Life Choices 00:19:24 The Search for Shelter and Modern Emptiness 00:26:07 Consequential Thinking and Rat Trap Happiness 00:29:17 Mind Control and Spiritual Practice 00:32:51 Modern Manipulation and Technology Addiction 00:37:34 False Shelter and Spiritual Guidance 00:42:00 Durashraya: The Nature of False Shelter 00:47:38 Fallible Soldiers and Spiritual Truth 00:50:00 True Shelter and Spiritual Connection 00:54:08 Chanting Meditation as Transformative Practice
“Send Coach John a message”I came across not only a post from Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11) but I also just picked up a copy of his latest book “The Power of Positive Habits”. Great stuff in my quest to just keep trying to get better and be my best version of myself. The post was this: “There's nothing more powerful than a humble person with a warrior spirit who is driven by a bigger purpose.” I love this!! What a huge reminder for us to keep looking to be humble throughout life! Keep looking to have the mindset of a warrior - keep going, not giving up, get back up when getting knocked down, etc. Keep feeding that spark inside of us that helps to make us who we are. Why are we here? What are we doing with our lives? I think it's all about constantly connecting with our purpose - every - single - day!! Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”Found a great conversation that Greg Berge (@GregBerge) shared with a recent post. This thought was what the focus was on: “The lie we tell ourselves. Once we win one I'll be happy.” - Sean McVay LA Rams Head Coach on Winning a Super Bowl. Greg goes on to say “that Winning doesn't fill the void. It just moves the finish line. The real joy? The grind. The growth. The people.” Like I've shared plenty of times before, life is about relationships. I love the last last that Coach McVay shares about transactional vs. transnational. Take some of these points - like I need to do - and enact them into our life in order to help make it the best life we possibly can. So many more important things in life than winning, job titles, tons of money, fame, etc. The sooner we connect with the grind, the growth and the people that we want to build our lives around - the better off we will be. “Send Coach John a message”Found this gem from Kylie Riordan (@mindfulheal) and it's one that I haven't really connected with this thought before. This is the new connection to kindness for me. “Kindness is loaning someone your strength instead of reminding them of their weakness.” I love this thought. Encouraging others, lifting them up; more than pointing out something they might need to fix. I think there is a lot of pointing out the faults of others. What is more strengthening to others, is taking this higher and different “road” in interacting with them. One thing for sure, I need to do more of this for sure. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found a fantastic reminder from Overmind (@overmind01) where this little gem was shared with everyone: “8 billion people on Earth. Almost none know you exist. The few who do are too busy to care. Relax. No one's watching. Go build your life.” So much to digest out of these few sentences. Reminding ourselves that just about everyone on this planet doesn't know who we are. There are some good people - a few that do know us and are pulling for us, but that number is really small. Realizing that all of these people really don't have any say in what we want to do with our lives. It's up to us. We can't let outside “noise” get in the way of what we do with our lives. “Send Coach John a message” I stumbled across a post from Seek Wiser (@SeekWiser_) today that got me thinking about a few things. This was the quote that caught my eye today: “Positions are temporary. Titles are limited. But how you treat people is always remembered.” Once again, the world needs more of this. I know I keep mentioning this in my podcasts, but it's true. We can all do a better job of sharing and acting on things that help bring about better ways of living our lives. A big part of this also connects with others too. When we live our best lives, remember, we are changing “the world” by improving “our world” around us. All the titles, fancy positions and possessions, along with all the money in the world; none of it will win out over how we make others feel. Between remembering my uncle and the two young fellas I had some great conversations with yesterday - wow… there are tons of awesome examples out there for us to connect with and learn from. Remember, you are one of those examples that others can connect with and learn from too. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) shared a very powerful and short reminder for all of us. “Be an encourager. The world has plenty of critics already.” - Dave Willis. I may have shared something close to this quote in the past, but I know I needed to share it today for sure. “Send Coach John a message”I connected with this guy again, as it's been awhile since I've shared something from Coach AJ / Mental Fitness (@coachajkings). This one is a reminder of some pure gold basics in life. It comes from football coach, Dabo Swinney who said, "It's the optimists who change the world." Success starts with your mindset and what you do every single day. A bad attitude holds you back. A great attitude takes you forward. "The only disability in life is a bad attitude." We all have this disability at times throughout our lives, along with others. Keep trying to be your best as I am doing the same. I'm reminding myself that my effort and attitude are the only things that I can really control - I need to keep working on these for sure. Thanks for listening. Let us know what you think about the podcast!Episode 218: How to Focus on What You Can Control When Family Relationships Are HardWhen a relationship is strained, it's so tempting to think: If I say it the right way… if I do enough… if I stay kind enough… then they'll finally respond the way I need them to. But the truth is, you can't control what someone else thinks, feels, or does. What you can control is how you show up, and that's where change begins. In this episode, you'll learn:How Stephen R. Covey's “Circles” framework helps you sort what you're worried about (concern) from what you can impact (influence) and what you can actually choose (control). The difference between control and influence and why confusing the two often leads to frustration, resentment, and burnout. Why blame, of yourself or others, quietly steals your power and what to do instead when you feel stuck. What “your inputs” really are in a struggling relationship and how to check whether you're expecting something different than what you're planting.A simple journaling question to help you reclaim steadiness and integrity: “Who am I being in the relationship, and how is that in my control?”When you focus on your circle of control, your thoughts, feelings, actions, and relational inputs, you stop chasing the impossible job of managing someone else's inner world. You may not be able to control outcomes, but you can keep planting what aligns with who you want to be. Over time, that steadiness changes you, and it often shifts the relationship more than force ever could. Tina Gosney is the Family Conflict Coach. “Send Coach John a message”I found one simple sentence that to me was a very powerful post. It comes from Overmind (@overmind01) and here is the sentence: “Real education starts after you leave school.” Yes sir, 100% right on target for sure. Think of what you are “learning” every day!! “Education” itself simply does not mean in a formal school setting. That's where it starts of course, but real education is something that we are privileged to seek and go after, every single day of our lives! What are your “lesson plans” for today? For your life? Keep striving to get better. To be better. To be a difference maker for others. To be humble and hungry. To understand that nobody gets through this life alone or untouched by challenges, difficulties, setbacks, road blocks, failures, and ultimately, death! “School” is open every day, 24 / 7 / 365. We just have to pay attention to this and to keep learning. The right things are out there for us to pick up and make a part of our “educational” resume. Keep at it!! Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”There has been a young lady who is in the battle of her life with ALS, that I've been following for a few years. A recent post I saw was her taking questions that she is answering about her journey. Her name is Sarah Nauser (@SarahNauser) and her bio on her Twitter / X account says this: “Dominating ALS one day at a time since 2018. Retired Police Officer. “Love the life you live and live the life you love” Go Royals! #FightLikeAGirl“ She answered a question “are you afraid?” and her answer sure does get me thinking about things in my life and offering me a different perspective as to how I need to change things as far as I handle my troubles. She reminds me in her post about the importance of having “faith over fear”. The lessons she offers from what she's going through, I sure can use them for what I'm going through - simply because my battles are nothing on the scale of seriousness & life altering as she has. She is battling every single day. If she can do that, I know I can do the same. Life is full of inspirational stories and lessons for all of us. Keep seeking them and also don't forget your story, actions, your life - all can help others too. As usual, the world needs these lessons more now than ever!! Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”Love this post that came across my “wires” today. It comes from Drew Maddux (@DrewMaddux) and he shares this thought about the quote I will share with you as “Life's highest calling... Pick up the Trash...leave people, places, and things better than you found them! Every conversation matters. Every interaction matters. Every encounter is an opportunity to bring life, hope, and encouragement to someone else. You never know what someone is carrying, and you never know how one word, one smile, or one moment of genuine care might change their direction. Life is not only built in the big moments…it's built in the ordinary ones. So, treat every day like it matters, because somebody else's life might depend on it.” The quote that he shared with his comments goes like this: “I'm very optimistic that every conversation, interaction, or encounter you have every day can change somebody else's life.” Just imagine for a moment, if more people took this to heart and set out throughout their day to consciously live this out. Even in small ways, this can be a HUGE deal for others and their world. This is an awesome & powerful mindset to have throughout life. I dare you to try it. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found an amazing post with unbelievable timing. This really hit home as we just lost my uncle earlier this morning. He had a long, long life as he was in his early 90's. He fought with many different battles over the last few years - cancer and Alzheimer's to name just two of his battles. This quote hit home for me: “The people we love and have lost don't just shape our past; they show up in how we live every day.” George Couros is the one who said this and shared it too. George Couros (@gcouros) who had this thought about the quote: "You don't feel sad all the time, but for the rest of your life, you are different. I can't explain it any better than that." I love this other thought he threw out there about grief: “You Don't Get Over Grief, You Become Someone New Around It.” These thoughts here have been circling around my brain since I saw them. My aunt and my two cousins have been at my uncle's side for a few days now as the end was drawing near. This family has had their share of tragedy in their lives - but… they have always been there for each other throughout their entire lives. What a powerful lesson for all of us to learn from. I'd like to keep on my journey of looking to get better, every single day - because of and for, the people that shaped me and came before me. That's the best way to keep connected to others that make an impact on us. For me - it's one more balcony person not only cheering me on, but also gives me another big reason to keep working hard and doing my best in life. Thanks for listening. What if the pain you've been carrying isn't just physical? What if your body has been trying to speak to you this whole time?Soreya James has spent 35 years answering that question. A trauma survivor, spiritual rebel, and creator of a precise healing technology that blends ancient yogic science with modern therapeutic tools, Soreya has led over 30 global retreats, survived three near-death experiences, and sat with people at the very edge of life. What she brings to this conversation isn't theory, it's a life lived all the way through. In this episode, Lyndsay sits down with Soreya to talk about what it really takes to transcend pain and suffering. They go into her early encounter with trauma at 19, how she found her calling in a room full of people the world had written off, and the years she spent in India studying with masters, yogis, and gurus. They also get into the harder things — sexual abuse, the cost of forgiveness, being targeted as a cult leader, and what women in midlife actually need to hear. But at the heart of this episode is one core message: you are not broken. Your body is communicating. And healing may begin the moment you finally get still enough to hear it.Tune in for a powerful discussion on trauma, consciousness, chronic pain, subconscious healing, and what it really means to come home to yourself.Episode Highlights:(00:00) Introduction to the Pain Game Podcast(02:30) The Impact of Childhood Trauma on Chronic Pain(10:15) Shape-Shifting Identities and Seeking Validation(15:50) Soreya's Journey and the Turning Point Event(22:10) The Power of Silence and Listening to the Body(30:45) Navigating Menopause and Societal Narratives(37:20) Authentic Intelligence vs. AI(45:00) The Importance of Personal Responsibility in Healing(52:30) Soreya's Interactive Book and Upcoming PodcastFind Soreya James Online Here:Website: soreyajames.comInstagram: @soreyajamesLinkedIn: Soreya JamesBook: MetamorphosisFind The Pain Game Podcast Online Here:Website: thepaingamepodcast.comInstagram: @thepaingamepodcastFacebook: The Pain Game PodcastLinkedIn: Lyndsay SopranoYouTube: The Pain Game PodcastSubscribe on YouTube | Merch Shop is OPEN!! | COMING SOON: The Pain Hub - A Women's Healing Community. “Send Coach John a message”I saw this post that connected directly to one of my favorite all-time shoes, Ted Lasso. This post was from one of the characters on the show, Higgins and it was one of so many life lessons shared on the show. In a conversation with another character, Roy - Higgins mentioned this to him: “Human beings are never going to be perfect, Roy. The best we can do is keep asking for help and accepting it when you can. And if you keep on doing that, you'll always be moving towards better.” Asking for help is something that many have trouble with doing and some even have trouble giving help too. Recently going through another operation, I've been put in the position of needing a lot of help. My wife has gone beyond “stepping up”, as she is doing everything. Today, I'm getting around better and doing a bit more for myself. This point from the show really got me thinking about not only my life right now - but also the way it should be more often. If we are looking for help (and we should be open to that), we need to be more helpful towards others. Do yourself a favor - check out the Ted Lasso show and see the awesome character development and the many life lessons that all of us can use more of. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”From Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11) came this gem on what he calls a “MindsetMonday”. “Don't let old battles keep you from new victories.” I've done this plenty of times. Keep re-hashing something in my head from my past that is holding me back from my current day / in the moment things I should be doing. This became clear again not because I saw this post, but actually going through it because of my recent surgery. So much stuff we tend to carry around and if you are like me, sometimes that old stuff gets in the way of doing new & great things. Something good for me to work on while I have a bit more time on my hands as I heal up. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”What an amazing, emotional and inspiring conversation I had with another former student of mine, Eli'Ana Klemm. This was a powerful conversation all connected to her recent book, "Resilient" (click the title for the link) and the lessons she learned from extreme loss and injury when she was young. Eli'Ana shares so many lessons of life in this conversation that I know this will make a positive difference with so many people. You can connect with her on Instagram (@Beyondherblues) and there you will find other ways she shares her insights, encouragement and life enhancing ideas. She is again, another student that I've had the pleasure to work with that really makes a difference with others. She's also one that I'm very proud of and thankful for all the lessons she continues to teach me. This is one to share with others for sure, both here and on my Youtube channel as well. “Send Coach John a message”For my last pre-recorded, post surgery episode (hopefully), I'm leaning on a legend. John C. Maxwell (@TheJohnCMaxwell) is someone that has been around for a very long time. I remember for most of my life knowing who this guy is and finding my way to being connected to his teachings. This one is a gem that he shares with us today. “The only guarantee that tomorrow is going to be better than today is that you're growing right now.” Let this clip sink in a bit. Listen to it a couple of times. In our growth during tough times, we have the choice of learning from those moments, in order for us to have a better tomorrow. This is something that I know I need to do more of - especially during my recovery from my surgery. Not easy times right now. Painful times right now. But I know I'm getting better from what I had to go through. This lesson I need to keep leaning on, stay connected to, because I know there will be other tough times to get through and to learn from as I'm going through them. You know what?? The same goes for you. The same goes for everyone. We just need to remember this for our moments of tough times so that we can grow from what we learn about going through them. Here's to better tomorrows. Everyone around us gets better when we grow! Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”He scores again… Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) shared another gem that caught my heart and my ear. I've heard this before, actually many times, but I needed to hear it explained this way: “Don't be a thermometer that reflects the room. Be a thermostat that changes it. Stay grounded, set the tone & bring the energy you want others to feel. Measure the atmosphere if you must — but don't stop there. Change it.” The clip he shared was from Devante Warner (@thedevantewarner). Love the strength and courage of being the person that brings peace into chaos. Brings faith into doubt. The more we can learn to be the thermostat in our lives, the more control we can have in situations where others are only the thermometer. Such an amazing and powerful mindset to have. “Send Coach John a message”I found this amazing reminder (seems more and more amazing reminders that I am finding - messages that we all need) from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) his message about the clip from Inky Johnson (@inkyjohnson) - “Achievement is what you attain or accomplish. Fulfillment is something you experience when your journey, growth & relationships align with purpose. Fulfillment comes from who you become during the journey, how you impact others & whether your life aligns with purpose & values.” Love the reminders about the importance of the journey that we are all going through in life. The people that are on the journey with us are so valuable. Achievement is what we acquire and fulfillment is what we become. The sooner we connect with this, I feel that our lives will become more valuable, more memorable - so much more meaningful. Our journey (people, things and events) all of it molds us into who we are. The thing is - we do the same for others as well. Great stuff! Deep stuff! Take it all in my friends. Thanks for listening. From cruise-ship chaos to boardroom clarity: how systems, not willpower, quietly run your life and business. In this episode, David and Londa jump from cruise ships and long-haul flights to COVID recovery and daily routines to uncover a single theme: your success is built on systems, not spur-of-the-moment effort. Through personal stories—missed entertainment, health scares, and a home-organization overhaul—they show how questioning narratives, taking personal responsibility, and reactivating simple systems can transform both your life and your business. Three Business Takeaways 1. Systems beat motivation. Relying on willpower is fragile; simple, repeatable systems (like Londa's “Sidetracked Home Executives” approach) create predictable results in both home and business. 2. Question the narrative. Whether it's media blame or conventional health advice, top performers pause, ask better questions, and take ownership instead of waiting for someone else to fix things. 3. Operationalize the basics. Turning everyday responsibilities into scheduled, systematized tasks (daily/weekly/monthly) frees mental bandwidth for higher‑value work and bigger opportunities. “Send Coach John a message”I found a gem from a “repeat difference-maker of doing good things” - Coach Ray Ostrowski (@CoachRayO3313) shared his thoughts on his Daily Quote - “You will never feel ready. But the moment changes when you decide to MOVE!” This reminder that action does indeed cure fear along with adding confidence. The quote is this: “Ready? - You will never ‘feel ready'. Ready is not a feeling - Ready is a decision. Confidence comes after the decision, not before it. You'll never feel fully prepared. The moment changes when you decide to move.” This hit head on for me in that at this moment, I hope my surger is tomorrow, but a few wrinkles have gotten in the way due to insurance company “issues”. There are many things that I'm battling and that inner voice is one of the biggest. That is something that is connected to how I get things done I need to do along with preparing and recovering from this surgical event. So, in the meantime… I'm not sitting back playing a victim and letting worry & anxiety take the steering wheel. I'm moving and doing. Whatever you got going on, I hope this helps you my friend. “Send Coach John a message”I came across this awesome idea, almost a frame of mind that I know I need to have more often. It comes from Steve Gutzler (@SteveGutzler) “I'm on a ONE DAY contract.” It's a reminder for me to be my best so that at the end of the day, when I look in the mirror, that guy looking back at me will say - you've earned another contract for tomorrow to work hard, do good and be your best. It reminds me to have more “be in the moment more” moments, each and every day. It reminds me to keep fighting for the things I know I need to do and want to do. It reminds me to keep up the mindset of “not to grow weary in doing good”! I want to fulfill to my wife, our two kids, my entire family, friends, etc., that they are glad that I'm here doing good things and serving others, encouraging others, helping others. “Send Coach John a message”I love finding things that help me the moment I see them. This one is an example of that for sure. From Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) there is this short but sweet & powerful nugget: “Your next move matters way more than your last mistake.” I need to focus in a bit more on the next move for myself and not keep getting hung up on the past. When I'm thinking about the things that I am facing or that have to get done, I can really get in my own way with this somewhat negative mindset. Then, the thing I need to face, get through, get done, etc., becomes more difficult than it really is. This is something I'm working on for sure. A very positive point about this - I don't have to wait to work on it as there are things going on right now to practice getting better. I think we all have that opportunity more than we think. “Send Coach John a message”I had the wonderful pleasure of sitting down (through Google Meet) with a former student - Abel Sanchez. Abel was on my podcast a few years ago and it's been a few years too long to finally have him on again. The wisdom that this young man shares is not only something else that I cherish and count myself blessed to be able to keep learning from him, but I hope you are able to take away a few lessons for your use in your life. So many great connections to lessons he learned in high school and with him sharing them with us in this episode, he's teaching me (again) the importance of always staying humble, looking to keep improving, and choosing kindness / love towards others and life in general. I was truly inspired and I hope you are too after listening / watching (see my Youtube channel). If you want to reach out to Abel, find him on Instagram: (@abelsancheziii) Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found an awesome post because the post had a picture of Jim Rohn on it with one of his many wonderful life lessons. This was shared by Mark C. Crowley (@MarkCCrowley) and his intro to the post was this: “It's a false dichotomy to think you can't care about your people and drive performance at the time. One doesn't come as a cost to the other.” He's right on target with this - caring about people helps out in so many ways in business and in life! We see way too many examples of what not caring is. Here are the thoughts from Jim Rohn: “Learn to be strong, but not rude; kind, but not weak; bold, but not a bully; thoughtful, but not lazy; humble, but not timid; proud, but not arrogant.” Wow! What a great formula for living our best life. Of course we can connect other things that lead to a great life - but these are wonderful pieces to add to our life's puzzle! Again, think of the many that are doing, saying, living, etc., the opposite of these gold nuggets. Keep getting better my friends. Keep striving to live your best life!! Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I came across a wonderful post from Kylie Riordan (@mindfulheal) where she shared this thought: “Leave the earth a better place because you were here, because you were kind, because you loved.” This directly connected to recent conversations with two of my former students, Abel and Eli'Ana - in fact both conversations are coming out soon in my “Sunday Conversations” here on my audio podcast and will be out also on my Youtube Channel too. These two inspired me, in fact here was my thought when I reposted Kylie's post: Coach John Daly (@coachtosuccess) “I was just reminded about this from two former students… Abel & Eli'ana!! Those two “kids” are wise beyond their years!” We do matter my friends and what we put out into the world does matter and does add up, even if we don't see it. Look to be kind to yourself, others, to nature, etc., along with loving yourself, others, life, your calling, your favorite things to do, favorite things to eat, etc. Once again, I mention this a lot, the world needs us to be connected to this since there are so many that are not connected. In fact, they do things the exact opposite. Follow Kylie's advice here my friend and it's echoed by my two former students who continue to teach this teacher, important life lessons that the world needs too. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I truly enjoy seeking new ideas, new ways of inspiration, new lessons, new people, etc., all with the idea of self improvement & personal development. Each and every day I CHOOSE to seek things out and learn from them. I then try to share some of them with you, my awesome listeners - where we both get to find new ways to keep growing and being the best versions of ourselves. This one comes from Dear Self (@Dearme2_) and the message is to “Focus on the future. Today's reminder: Only put energy into things you have a future with.” There are so many things to put our energy into today, but it's not all good for us. I continue to learn that I don't have endless energy to waste on things and people, that don't help me grow into the person I want to be and have the life that is worth having. Distractions have always gotten me to waste time that I shouldn't throw away. I need to make time for the things that matter (like Abel Sanchez reminded me in our talk). Take this message to heart and see where you can focus your energy in the areas you want to. Our time can't be wasted and then we expect to be in a better place in life when we do choose to spend it that way. Thanks for listening. In this episode, Dr. Jenni and Daniel sit down with Michele Weiner-Davis — internationally renowned marriage therapist, bestselling author, and creator of the Divorce Busting method — for a conversation about what most therapists won't tell you: that many marriages assumed to be over are actually salvageable, and that infidelity, while devastating, is rarely the real ending.Michele shares the personal story behind her solution-focused approach, including how her own mother's divorce shaped her commitment to helping couples find another way. Michele, Jenni, and Daniel dig into the questions betrayed partners feel compelled to ask — and which ones quietly keep the pain alive longer than it needs to. They explore the unfaithful partner's essential role in repair, why "just communicate" isn't enough, and what real healing actually requires from both people in the room. This is a conversation for anyone who has wondered if their relationship can come back from something hard — and for anyone who has been told it can’t. Ryan Michler breaks down what it truly means for a man to be "safe" in a relationship - and why most men get it wrong. Drawing from his own failed marriage, he explains how emotional volatility, inconsistency, and lack of self-mastery can erode trust at home. Ryan challenges the idea that safety equals weakness, arguing instead that it's rooted in strength, discipline, and control. He outlines practical ways men can become more grounded, reliable, and առաջնորդ-driven - through emotional regulation, clear personal standards, accountability, and presence. This episode is a direct, no-excuses call for men to lead themselves first so they can better lead and protect their families. “Send Coach John a message”I was listening to my friend John O'Leary's podcast today - his Monday Moments - and it was all about having new perspectives. I hope you want to check it out - find it HERE. The new perspectives come from lessons from the four astronauts that recently came back to earth from the Artemis II mission. John goes through some awesome and powerful lessons from this incredible trip to space. These lessons can encourage us in so many ways to remind us of how special being alive is really something to connect with. This ties into recent conversations with John O'Leary and guests from his monthly online zoom session that he had yesterday. Check out his entire website so you too can get connected to not only his great content, but also - Click HERE. Also there are connections to my chat I had with my former student Abel Sanchez - that chat will be coming out this coming Sunday. But our chat had a lot to do with how amazing life can be and things to connect with making it better. Great stuff all around us my friends. Just connect with it and pull what you need to make your life just a bit better. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”Found an amazing reminder from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) and it's all about telling us again to have a calm mind. “Stress tricks you into thinking everything's urgent. Breathe. Things are solved with a calm mind.” Simple thought for this one - as it comes out a day late - I needed this on Monday. Stuff going on, not horrible… just stuff to deal with. This helped me. I hope it helps you. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found this great post from Art of Thinking (@Art0fThinking) with the help of Snoopy (from the Peanuts cartoon). These 6 habits of happy people are things we should all strive for. They are: Don't Show Off, Talk Less, Learn Daily, Help Less Fortunate, Laugh More and Ignore Nonsense. Each and every one of these are things we can always strive to connect with more and more in our lives. There are many things that go with each of these as I share just a few of each. I hope to take these with me each and every day! Thanks for listening. In this episode of Friday Field Notes, Ryan Michler tackles a controversial but critical idea: what if free markets aren't the problem—but the proving ground for masculinity? Ryan breaks down how systems built on risk, accountability, competition, and earned success shape men into capable, resilient leaders. He contrasts this with the growing appeal of dependency-driven systems and explains why outsourcing responsibility may come at a deeper cost—your purpose, identity, and sovereignty. This is a direct, unfiltered look at what men lose when struggle disappears—and why the free market might be the arena men actually need. “Send Coach John a message”I found something that got my attention right away. It's a post from Bob Starkey (@CoachBobStarkey) where he shares this gem from Maya Angelou: “If you're going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can't be erased.” The size or fame of your legacy I think, doesn't really matter. The fact that you choose to live a life where you are conscious of your actions, what you do in life towards others and what kind of life you let be the example for the world to see …. That's what matters. This is something that I have always had in the back of my mind of how my life will be remembered. Now… as I get older, it's something I know I need to keep doing and keep getting better too. I want to just keep getting better as a human being, a husband, dad, son, brother, friend, uncle, neighbor, etc. Living a life to be proud of - that's a great thing to go after. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”Got back into my book that I'm trying to read every day… it's been a few days where I haven't kept that promise to myself, but yesterday's reading was BIG! The book is “Areté” by Brian Johnson and it's all about being our best. This particular lesson was about 3 Forms of Discipline. He gets this from a guy named Phil Stutz. There is “reactive discipline” where we are triggered by something happening and we choose our form of discipline at that moment. There is also “structural discipline” which is all about our every day habits that keep us going in our choices that we make. Finally, there is “expansive discipline” which is the most challenging of the three. This is the one that really ties into the fact that we have a choice in EVERY SINGLE MOMENT of our lives. If we are looking to become our best, we need to have more moments where we say to ourselves, “bring it on” to having challenging things to deal with and grow from. It comes down to choosing to keep learning and keep growing where we can keep getting better. All three of these help make us who we are along with who we are becoming and the direction to where we are going in our lives. Great stuff!! Thanks for listening. In this long episode, we look at several interviews conducted by notorious 'skeptic' author Michael Shermer on his podcast and "shitty YouTube channel", as it was memorably described by Rebecca Watson... After an introductory discussion of Shermer and his... ahem... chequered history (to put it legally non-actionably), we boggle at the decidedly low-energy Mr Skepticism as he interviews psychologist of abuse and gaslighting Jennifer Fraser PhD about her book about abuse and gaslighting and her own history of being abused and gaslit, all without breaking a bead of sweat. This is Michael Shermer, remember. Then we take in some lowlights of his unbelievably vapid conversation with store-brand Bari Weiss, Bari Weiss's wife, Nellie Bowles, who is just... insufferable. We conclude by voyaging fully into the sickness as we tune into a discussion Shermer had with rabidly Islamophobic Zionist neocon warmonger and racist reactionary crank Douglas Murray, all about how Islam is a 'culture of death' and maybe Israel accidentally did some bad stuff in Gaza but, y'know, that's war, or something. Big content warnings on this one. It's what I call a 'journey episode'. Not only is it over 2hrs long (we try to keep the length down but sometimes it's not possible) but all the way through it also raises topics that are very hard to deal with, including sexual and psychological abuse, and the manifold violent crimes of the state of Israel, including the Gaza genocide. And all through it, there is the personification of self-identified rational, logical, sceptical centrism nodding along like the libertarian reactionary and alleged abuser he actually is. I've made time stamps for this one, for ease of navigation or multi-session listening. The Intro to Shermer section starts around 13:50 The section dealing with the Fraser interview starts around 24:11 The Nellie Bowles bit begins around 1:04:00 And the Douglas Murray section starts at around 1:31:00 NOTES: Rebecca Watson, "So I'm in the Epstein Files" https://www.reddit.com/r/behindthebastards/comments/1p1noab/so_im_in_the_epstein_files_rebecca_watson_on/ Rebecca Watson, "Epstein Files Reveal How Pathetic Richard Dawkins and Others Really Are" https://www.reddit.com/r/behindthebastards/comments/1p1noab/so_im_in_the_epstein_files_rebecca_watson_on/ PZ Myers, "What Do You Do When Someone Pulls the Pin and Hands You a Grenade?" What if the biggest source of your suffering… is the story you’re telling yourself? Thomas Thatcher, author of The Tack Philosophy, shares the life-changing philosophy that helped him move from deep emotional suffering to true freedom. After battling depression and feeling overlooked by his own family, Thomas realized it wasn’t just what happened to him, it was the story he created around it that kept him stuck. After feeling overlooked in his family business and spiraling into a painful narrative about his worth, Thomas found himself stuck, until one simple metaphor changed his life: the Tack Philosophy.
