I took some time last night to watch a special on ESPN - a 30 for 30 documentary on Stuart Scott. Find some more info HERE. It really got me thinking about things. It was emotional, reflective, powerful and to me, it directly connected to a post today from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie). The post reminded us that “small steps do matter”. Mark reminds us to “Live our truth boldly, stand in your honesty, and remember - your happiness begins the moment you stop shrinking who you are to fit who others want you to be.” All of us need the reminder that we can be who we are. But in order for that to happen, we need to continue to work on ourselves to be our best, to chase after what we've been called to do and to keep being difference-makers for others as well. Powerful thoughts rolling around here for me and I hope it helps you to connect to some for yourself too. Thanks for listening. I found a post that I've used before in my classes while teaching along with my players while coaching. This post came from The Winning Difference (@thewinningdiff1) and in the audio I share here in this episode, you can hear the passion, the love, the gratitude from Coach Jim Valvano. “The gift my father gave me every day of my life was he believed in me. My father believed in me, he believed in me when I failed. When I didn't measure up to my standard or someone else's standard he'd look me in the eye and he'd say you're going to make it,” Jim Valvano. There are so many instances of the importance of having belief in our lives. Head Football Coach and one of my teachers, Tom Mach from my high school, Detroit Catholic Central would always have this saying from when he started teaching at coaching at CC in 1976 and he still shares it when he speaks to students, players, coaches & educators today! It's his phrase that is just one of many things he's best known for: "the magic is in believing," a mantra that has inspired countless students to embrace the power of their belief in God, your family, your team, your loved ones, along with others. Finally in one of my favorite shows that I've ever watched, “Ted Lasso” starring Jason Sudeikis, has a main part of the series with his sign “Believe” that he hangs in their locker room and all the team / life connections that come with it. Do yourself a favor and find how to watch this show!! One thing for sure, is from all of this I need to do a much better job in believing in others along with believing in myself even more. The world sure could use more of this of us believing & encouraging others.
Jeff Wald, author of The End of Jobs and CEO of WorkMarket, examines how robots and AI are creating the fourth industrial revolution—a massive power shift from workers to companies that mirrors past technological upheavals. Drawing from labor history, on-demand platforms, and regulatory battles like California Prop 22, Wald reveals why the lifetime employment contract was always a myth with average job tenure at 5 years in 1960 and 4.2 years today. He introduces the hard tech vs. hard human framework: thriving in automation requires either technical skills like software, AI, and data or human skills that machines cannot replicate such as creativity, empathy, and sales. Wald unpacks how income inequality, personal responsibility, and opportunity gaps threaten societal stability, why unions must reinvent themselves through movements like Fight for 15, and how lifelong learning became non-negotiable when skills now decay within 4-6 years instead of lasting a 30-year career. In this episode, Christina shows up at the end of a long day—post-walk, unfiltered, and debating whether she should even hit “upload.” But the story behind why she almost didn't post this one is worth the listen. She also pulls back the curtain on a behind-the-scenes disaster that nearly pushed her over the edge this week. Let's just say it involves a 35-minute recording, a message from her assistant, and a very real “I might cry” moment. Christina doesn't reveal every detail here… but when you hear it, you'll feel it.From there, she shares how her best podcast ideas actually come together—and why next year's episodes are about to look very different. Think: founders, CEOs, entrepreneurs, and some surprising conversations she can't wait to bring back. I came across a short but powerful (and truthful) post from Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) that reminds us all about something so meaningful. “If everything around seems dark, look again, you may be the light.” - Rumi. What an amazing and encouraging statement to always take with us wherever we go! I was watching a new show, Boston Blue and in the recent episode, one of the main characters brought up this fact that he needed to simply keep showing up to listen to and be there for others. To me, that is exactly what this post is all about. You may be the light that you think may not be around. Just keep doing your best. Keep showing up for others. You will make a difference for sure, even if you can't see it. Thanks for listening. I stumbled across a great post to share from Words of Wise | Mindset Coach (@Wordofwise_) and even though it's coming out later than I wanted to today, it still reminded me of some things that I needed to connect with. “To be successful at anything, you don't have to be special. You simply have to be what most people are not. Consistent, determined, and willing to work for it.” The key that jumped out to me was that we don't need anyone's permission for us to do the things we need to do. We get to choose if we are consistent. We are the ones that can say how determined we will be with the things we choose to do. We for sure don't need permission to have the willingness to work on things we find a connection too. For me, there are so many distractions out there that affect me as to how I use my time throughout the day. No more!! (or at least I need to try to have it happen not as often and keep going from there.) Thanks for listening. Classic post from Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11) where he shared a “Mindset Monday” thought. “Replace “Have to” with “Get to.” Jon shares with us: “Shift your perspective and realize it's not about having to do anything. Life is not an obligation. It's a gift. Focus on gratitude and you'll find yourself feeling blessed instead of stressed.” This was something that I needed to connect with and remind myself how important my mindset is. Thanks for listening. Enjoy Nate's interview on Martens Minute! GML will return this week. Nate Thurston, co-host of the Good Morning Liberty podcast and former guitarist for the band Darling Parade, joins me to share his powerful journey through alcoholism and recovery. He opens up about his struggles with alcohol and addiction as a touring musician, and how his alcoholism spiraled out of control as his music career came to an end, nearly costing him his life. With the support of his wife, Nate confronted his addiction, quit drinking, and rebuilt his life. Now seven years sober, he enjoys a happy marriage, hosts a successful podcast, and is a respected figure in the liberty community. His advice to those struggling with addiction: You don't have to commit to quitting forever today—that can feel overwhelming. Instead, choose each morning to stay sober for that day. In her early 20's, while studying history and comparative religion at Vassar College, she discovered meditation. She understood that there is a function, a formality and a fit to the universe and that yoga is a tool, a technique – a practice with repetition which gives us the opportunity to participate in life with intelligence and joy. Nevine started a daily practice in NYC with renowned yoga instructor Allan Bateman in the 1970s and became fully immersed in what would become her life's work. She began teaching yoga in 1978, and founded the Katonah Yoga Center in Katonah, New York in 1986. Nevine seamlessly relates her approach to yoga through comparing it to the likes of a musician. Her artful use of metaphor is one of her most well honed techniques when articulating her teachings, which are empowered by her practical approach to integrating the mind, the body and the breath. Nevine continues to teach both online and in person through her studio, the Katonah Yoga Collective in Bedford Hills NY and others throughout the community. I came across a very simple, yet once again - powerful reminder for all of us. This came from The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) where this total truth was shared: “Always find time for the things that make you feel happy!” I am reminded about that for a couple of reasons. One was my podcast from yesterday. Another is the reminder of making time to see and visit with the people that keep your soul smiling along with they help to keep the spark of your soul, on fire for life!! Walks with our dog are something that I love doing - that brings me joy. This podcast brings me joy. Helping & encouraging others brings me joy. Always looking to learn, grow and improve - every day - brings me joy. What is it for you? Thanks for listening. I get to see & reflect on these posts every day from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) and he shares his thoughts about the post: “A message for today… People are the greatest part of the journey. No dream is built alone & no success feels complete without the people who walk beside us. Value your relationships — they're worth more than status or success.” There are things happening every day that help this message and others, to sink in a bit more. When the things that happen affect us in a direct way, it's even more so. I've learned about the death of someone that so many people I know are directly connected to. All I will say is that this statement, this post, this truth - is what knowing this person was (and is) all about. To have people in your life like this - that's worth celebrating every single day! I came across this post from Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11) where he shared this thought: “You won't always feel confident. But you can always be courageous and take action anyway.” This fit in exactly with a podcast from Sam Crowley - you can find this episode HERE. Sam was talking about going through a rough time a year ago when he was stuck and he pushed through so that he could clear things up and pivot into a new direction for his life. So much to pick up from others like Jon and Sam. Everyone goes through “stuff” and we can get though our “stuff” with the help of others and the reminders to be courageous. Thanks for listening. Today's quick episode is all about the one thing most high achievers avoid but desperately need: space to think. So many of us stay busy out of habit, even when we say we want change. But your next level doesn't come from doing more—it comes from creating room for clarity, intuition, and the ideas you can't access when you're running nonstop.I'm sharing a powerful question I'm giving all my clients for 2026:If a billion-dollar CEO took over your business and life, what are the first three things they'd remove from your plate? To grow, you need four things: clarity, confidence, space, and delegation. And if you think you don't have time for any of this—I promise, your screen time says otherwise. Once again I found someone speaking to something from the world of sports that has a much bigger impact on what real life is all about. I found this from Coach AJ - Mental Fitness (@coachajkings) where he shared a video clip (find it HERE) of football coach Pete Carroll who said, "The thing about grit is real." "It's about competing, pushing yourself, striving to be your best, and what's really exciting is nobody controls this, but you." This is a very powerful reminder that grit isn't about talent or being lucky. It's about choosing to endure. To not quit. It's taking ownership. Nobody can keep score on this for you along with nobody can judge you either. It's up to ourselves to focus on these things that we have control over to be our best!! Thanks for listening. I found an awesome post from Aaron Babicz '93 (@DETROITCCAD) who is the Athletic Director at my high school Novi Detroit Catholic Central. He shared this post after our football team won the State Championship here in Michigan. He titled this “ALWAYS CLIMBING”, and it describes this quote - “How Lucky We Are To Wake Up And Try Again.” First of all there are plenty of people that didn't get to wake up today. The same will happen tomorrow and every day. What are you always climbing towards? This is way more than athletics (as much of sports is = Life Lessons). What do we get to try again with today? I know there are plenty for me to choose from, with gratitude that I get to look to work on today. Love this reminder! Take it to heart and see where you can connect with what @inkyjohnson reminds us too. “What fulfills me?” Powerful question to tie into what we get to do (choose to do) each and every day!! Awesome post from Gary Vaynerchuk (@garyvee) and on his #morningwalktalk that he shared HERE on Twitter / X. He reminds us that we will find what we are looking for. If we are looking for connections, opportunities, learning items, growth, positive news, inspirational things, etc., vs. negative news, anger, hatred, blaming others, etc.; we will find whatever we set out to connect with. Keep an eye on how we spend our time, what choices we make, who we hang out with, what our thoughts are, etc. Powerful stuff! Amazing stuff! Truthful stuff! Thanks for listening. I found another connection to the importance of us having more “light” in our lives and it comes from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) where he shares these thoughts about the importance of rekindling the light for others. “Such a message reminds me of Goodier's work entitled “Who Rekindles Your Light?” It calls to mind how we are blessed by the light of others though their love, care & concern. We too must reciprocate or pay it forward by serving to be the light for others!” We all need to remember this thought: “The greatest weapon against darkness is, and always has been light. Even one small light is stronger than the darkness.” Don't lose your connections to those people who help rekindle your light, your spark, all throughout life. Then also remember - rekindle other people's lights too! The world needs this now for sure. Plenty of dark times out there for us to help each other out with. Thanks for listening. Simple and powerful post from Gary Hensel (@gary_hensel) where he shared this: “The light you hold is brighter than any darkness. When in darkness be the light.” There are many times that there seems to be more darkness than ever and not just because we are heading into winter. There are issues and events going on around us and around the world where we need more light to shine brightly. There are many ways to do it and they do not have to be huge events. They can be small events that maybe only we see ourselves. The key is we all can add to turning on these lights in order to make things better. There seems to be events every single day that remind us of how important this is. Be the light! Thanks for listening. Found a super short post from Words of Wise | Mindset Coach (@Wordofwise_) for the second day in a row and this one is just as powerful as the other one. Great reminder for all of us: “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” When we take a look at the simplicity of this thought, we can usually see that whatever is going on in our lives - we are where we are. That is a good place to start as it's really the only place to start. We can keep learning and picking up new skills. We can improve by asking for help, seeking new information and putting action behind moving towards something we want to do. I love the simplicity of connecting to this thought. Hope you do too. Found a very fired up post from Words of Wise | Mindset Coach (@Wordofwise_) that reminds all of us that we can do great things that others can't take away from us. “You become unstoppable when you work on things people can't take away from you. Things like your character, habits, mindset, and attitude.” These are some of the things that we have total control over along with that we have a choice if we want to give up control of these things. Life and others will do a heck of a job trying to get us to change. We don't need to help them to cause us troubles. We can help ourselves out by having some intentional focus into these areas and for me, I know that I need to do this. When you sit back and digest this thought, it becomes a very powerful & inspiring mindset to have. Just a little bit more every day can make a difference. Thanks for listening. Started my day out connecting to an old friend, Sam Crowley and his podcast. He got me thinking about something that I needed to connect with - I need to be more curious about things that light me up! Listen HERE for this episode from him. Things that inspire and get me excited about my life. Things I want to help others with and to simply be the best me that I can be. There are so many things out there that I can find information from. Why not direct my focus a little bit more to find out more about those things that I want my life to be all about. I found a great reminder for all of us when it comes to creating something special in our life and the fact that there are tons of distractions out there that we need to filter through. From Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11) he shares this thought from his book “The Carpenter” - “To create something special you have to care more about what you are creating than the distractions vying for your attention.” Well, seeing that there are tons of distractions for all of us in our world today - I wanted to get this out there so we can start to maybe find ways to focus on what we want more than we focus on those distractions. For me, it's always challenging, but I'm working toward getting better with this. How about you? Thanks for listening. My guest today is Jeff G, privacy advocate and builder of censorship-resistant communication systems using Nostr and open cryptographic infrastructure. Jeff works on White Noise, a decentralized encrypted messaging project designed to remove single points of failure from private communication. We explore how the internet was built without native money and how that mistake created a surveillance economy where users became the product. We break down why “nothing to hide” is a psychological trap, how self-sovereign digital identity works through public-private key pairs, and why portable social graphs threaten centralized platform control. We also cover the global push for digital ID and CBDCs, the structural weakness of centralized messengers like Signal, and why real freedom now depends on rebuilding parallel, permissionless systems instead of trying to fix broken institutions.► If you got value, please like, comment, share, follow and support my work. President DJT How Andrew Jackson Freed America From Central Bank Control… And Why It Matters Now It's hard to believe the United States government was ever debt-free. But it happened once—in 1835—thanks to President Andrew Jackson. He was the first and only president When he became president, Jackson was determined to rid the US of its national debt. After all, debt enslaves you to your creditors. Jackson knew that being debt-free was essential to independence. This outlook resonated with many Americans back then. With that in mind, Jackson attacked the institutions and powerful people who promoted and enabled the federal debt. This included the banking elites and the Second Bank of the United States, the country's central bank at the time and precursor to today's insidious Federal Reserve system. Jackson couldn't squeeze the American people with a federal income tax to repay the debt. It didn't exist at the time and would have been unconstitutional. He also couldn't simply print currency to pay off the debt. Perpetuating such an insane fraud—which the Fed does on a massive scale today—likely never entered his mind. Instead, Jackson had to rely on tax revenue from other sources, mainly import tariffs and excise taxes, to pay down the debt. He also drastically cut federal spending and frequently vetoed spending bills. Jackson's determination worked. By January 1835, the US was debt-free for the first time. Unfortunately, it didn't last much more than a year. After that, the US would never again be debt-free—not even close. Revenge of the Central Bankers After Jackson succeeded in ending the Second Bank of the United States, anything associated with a central bank became deeply unpopular with the American public. So, central bank advocates tried a new branding strategy. It was presented to Ukraine with a Thursday deadline from Trump for acceptance, though he noted it wasn’t a “final offer,” amid ongoing talks in Geneva between Rubio, Witkoff, and Ukrainian officials. Regarding Marco Rubio’s involvement as Secretary of State, initial reports indicated he distanced himself from the plan during a phone call with a bipartisan group of U.S. senators (including Mike Rounds and Angus King), describing it as a “Russian wish list” rather than an official U.S. position, and clarifying it was merely a document passed along from Moscow. However, Rubio and the State Department later publicly reversed this stance, insisting the plan was “authored” by the U.S. with input from both Russian and Ukrainian sides, denying claims of purely Russian origins and calling such assertions “blatantly false.” This flip-flop has fueled criticism of incompetence and internal disarray in the administration, with European allies like Poland questioning the plan’s true authorship, and figures like Boris Johnson labeling it a “betrayal” and “military castration” of Ukraine. Marjorie https://twitter.com/DavidMarkDC/status/1992045897526456357?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1992045897526456357%7Ctwgr%5E83f270a88adb7ed9bdd1802c693cdb86d882337c%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thegatewaypundit.com%2F2025%2F11%2Fintriguing-detail-emerges-that-likely-explains-exact-date%2F Source: thegatewaypundit.com Current House Composition (as of November 2025) Republicans: 219 seats Democrats: 213 seats Vacancies: 3 (one Republican-held seat in Tennessee’s 7th district, and two Democratic-held seats in Texas’s 18th and New Jersey’s 11th districts) Total members: 435 (432 occupied) This gives Republicans a slim majority, allowing them to pass party-line bills with a bit of breathing room for absences or defections (needing roughly 217 votes in a full House for a simple majority). Impact of Greene’s Resignation Numerical Effect: Starting January 5, 2026, her safe Republican seat in Georgia’s 14th district will become vacant, dropping Republicans to 218 occupied seats against Democrats’ 213 (assuming no other changes, with vacancies rising to 4). This shrinks their effective margin to just 5 votes, leaving almost no room for internal dissent, illnesses, or travel delays—issues that have plagued the GOP in recent years with narrow majorities. Passing legislation could become trickier on contentious bills, as even one or two holdouts might sink votes without Democratic support. Temporary Nature: Georgia law requires a special election for House vacancies, typically scheduled within 2-3 months by the governor. Given the district’s strong Republican lean (she won reelection in 2024 by over 30 points), it’s highly likely to be filled by another Republican, restoring the majority relatively quickly. In summary, while the resignation tightens an already precarious majority and could complicate near-term votes in early 2026, it’s not a game-changer long-term. Republicans have navigated similar slim margins before, often relying on procedural tools or bipartisan deals when needed. https://twitter.com/ElectionWiz/status/1992360234913050627?s=20 https://twitter.com/mtgreenee/status/1992586669204070761?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1992586669204070761%7Ctwgr%5E63a82205206ed50771f6d6684add6a3453443c47%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thegatewaypundit.com%2F2025%2F11%2Fmarjorie-taylor-greene-responds-report-that-she-is%2F ending barrage of phone calls, Marjorie went BAD. I stumbled upon some thoughts about failure recently from a couple of great sources of learning about failure. Gary Vaynerchuk (@garyvee) recently shared a post where he reminded us that since we are human, we are indeed terrible at some things - but that doesn't mean we are terrible as a person. When we lose at something - meaning we fail at something, that doesn't mean we are a loser or a failure. The mindset and perspective on this is HUGE! It's temporary. It's an event when we fail, it's not something that defines us as a person. A clip that is shared by Coach AJ Mental Fitness (@coachajkings) where he shares this video from Coach K where he says, "In order to get better, you change limits." "When you change limits, you're going to look bad and you're going to fail." Failure isn't a destination, it's a checkpoint. It means grit, courage, and choosing to endure. Listen to the confidence in Coach K's voice here as he is explaining from the little bit that I am sharing. This is a great reminder for all of us when we fall down. Thanks for listening. In this milestone episode #300 of the Demystifying Mental Toughness Podcast, David Charlton is joined by former Newcastle United defender and current Assistant Loans Manager Peter Ramage. In the second part of our conversation Peter shares powerful insights into what truly drives progression and resilience in young footballers. Peter discusses the importance of personal responsibility in career development highlighting how top performers take ownership of their learning, habits, and mindset. Through examples such as golfer Matthew Fitzpatrick and Harry Kane, he explains why success is never defined solely by minutes played, but by growth, adaptation, and the ability to fight for a place. A major theme throughout the conversation is the redefinition of success on loan spells. Peter emphasises that adversity, periods of not playing, dealing with pressure, or competing for a spot is often the very challenge that shapes long-term success. He also explores the dangers of external hype, the importance of staying grounded, and the value of breaking performance down into controllable actions. Listeners gain a behind-the-scenes look at loan player support, including emotional wellbeing, communication, and the powerful role of peer-to-peer mentoring. Peter also reinforces that speaking up and asking for help is not weakness, it's a critical part of thriving in football. >> Key Takeaways Success Isn't Linear: Loan spells and tough periods are vital learning experiences, not signs of failure. Take Responsibility: Growth accelerates when players own their development, behaviours, and mindset. Stay Grounded & Speak Up: Managing hype, living in the present, and asking for support are essential parts of sustaining performance. A little different episode today, right from the heart. The story today is about the power of relationships and the times throughout our life where they come back to us so that we can continue learning and growing. BIG shoutout to an incredible former student and player that is connected to this story and the powerful & inspiring lessons that she is still teaching me today! This one is one of many lessons that connect each and every one of us to each other. Sorry for the emotions and trouble talking - that's one of many things about who I am that I'm proud of. Share with me any connections that you have to this as I need to keep learning, getting stronger and have the ability to be inspired to keep teaching others. Thanks for listening. I really enjoy seeing these posts from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) every day where he always offers some form of encouragement. “A message for today … A reminder: growth takes time, patience & courage — especially in moments no one sees. Every small step you take now is building a future you'll be proud of. Keep going even when it's hard. One day, the future you will be so grateful you didn't give up.” This is something that I see connecting with so many people in today's world, including myself. Little things, small steps in our everyday choices can make a huge difference - even if at the time we are taking those small steps, we may not see it. The quote he posts that goes with his thoughts above, helped me to see that I am not alone and that I need to share this message for today. I also was reminded from a former student and player of mine that posted a very similar post about going through tough times and sharing that we are not alone along with the little steps she keeps taking in living her best life. Take this with you and share it with others. Thanks for listening. In this powerful episode, Christina Lecuyer cracks open her personal playbook—hundreds of pages of lessons, mindset shifts, and real-world strategies that have shaped her success. She dives into the simple daily habits that create extraordinary results, like the underestimated power of a daily walk, taking action before you feel “ready,” and reframing anxiety into fuel.Christina also gets real about personal responsibility, the mindset behind true integrity, and why setting boundaries is non-negotiable if you want a life aligned with purpose. If you're ready to stop playing small and step fully into your potential, this episode will light a fire under you. If you enjoyed this episode, make sure and give us a five star rating and leave us a comment on iTunes, Podcast Addict, Podchaser and Castbox about what you'd like us to talk about that will help you realize that at any moment, any day, you too can decide, it's your turn!
Haven't shared much from this guy in awhile and this one struck me as something I needed to get out there. Coach AJ - Mental Fitness (@coachajkings) shared this from legendary football coach Nick Saban, "Complacency creates a blatant disregard for doing what is right." "Success is momentary, it's not continuous." We are reminded from Coach AJ as he shares some of his thoughts connected to this - “Success hinges on doing the work, while complacency is full of indifference. • It erodes your discipline. • It affects your focus.” This got me thinking about the truth in my life when I become complacent, it takes a bit more effort, energy and decision making to get going again. I've always had a challenge to focus in my life, but when I do, I can get things done. I'm seeing this clearer now as I get older that I need to have “intentional focus” in my life a bit more to accomplish things I want to do. The discipline I had to have in order to get up every day, prepare myself for teaching & coaching; well, those reasons (not working now) are not there any longer. They have been replaced by other things. My focus has been on me and my health battles, instead of so many other people along with the thousand of decisions I had to make each day. I was listening to Mitch Albom's “Tuesday People” Podcast (@wetuesdaypeople) and you can find the recent episode - click on: “The Words We Wished We'd Spoken” (Episode 242) and he was sharing some thoughts that he has gotten from many people on his book tour for “Twice”. His new book is another homerun for him and I would agree with so many others that have read it. It's one you will get you thinking about your life and the changes you can make in it. One of many things he brings up in this podcast is the fact that we do have time to tell people in our life that we love them or that we are sorry. It's been the overwhelming response by people to getting a second chance at something in life. Mitch reminds us that we have 525,600 minutes in a year and that saying we love someone or apologizing to someone, can be done in a minute (for the most part). Don't put these things off my friends. Talk about motivation!! Go out there and get this done! Thanks for listening. Just saw this post that had a great connection to today (Monday), but really it's any day that this will work with. From POSITIVITY (@PositivitySaid) - “Monday: New day. New week. New Mindset. New focus. New start. New intentions. New results. Make it a great one.” Now this simple little post helped me to see not only some options for making this day a great one, but helping to make my future a better one too. These choices are not just for today. They can obviously last for a while. Awesome reminder that was connected to a text I got in a group chat from Coach Dave that was sent to our Difference Maker group. Take this post with you every day. From the School of Hard Knocks (@theschoolofhardknockz) on Instagram, I caught a quick interview of a billionaire where he mentioned something his dad told him - “We grow old to soon and wise too late.” I think that is so true. Wisdom comes with experience and obviously experience comes with age. Experience also comes with taking action in life. That is something all of us can do more of for sure, especially for me. Part of growing old too soon is that time flys by and this person also mentioned that spending time with family & loved ones is something that is really important as we can never get it back. I came across a powerful reminder from TeacherGoals (@teachergoals) and this reminds us that “Character counts”. The quote is something that I know I need to focus on a bit more and I know that our world would be much better if we all connected with this more too - “I'm not impressed by your looks, money, social status or job title. I'm impressed by the way you treat other human beings.” We have plenty of examples, sad to say, of so many people not connecting with this thought. How about we help to change things to help others. Remember, our time on this planet is short. I know I need to use my time a bit better for sure. How about you? Thanks for listening. Amazing post from Clint Hurdle (@ClintHurdle13) which got me thinking about a few things. This post sums up how all of us can do more and be more for others. Clint shared this: “Every morning when my feet hit the ground, my first thought is: Lord, let me be a simple man in a complex world. Let me be a source of encouragement for others. Let me be some light for others. I tip my hat to my son Christian for challenging me to share positivity beyond my email list which nearly 10,000 people read daily. He said, "Dad, you have no idea what social media can do." His advice was simple: "use Social Media to share what you've done, not what others should do." I don't have all the answers. I'm just a simple man in a complex world trying to share experience, strength, and hope.” Just imagine if we can not only put out more encouragement, hope, compassion, empathy, joy, etc., online - but also with our words & actions in the real world with others! Instead of the ugly & condemning words, judgement, hate, lies, etc. (this is tough typing one handed). We don't need to have all the answers, but we need to try to be better and do better towards others. Thanks for listening. In this episode, Christina Lecuyer gets real about clarity, boundaries, and choosing yourself—especially when the holiday season starts pulling you in every direction. If you've ever struggled to say no, felt guilty prioritizing your needs, or found yourself overwhelmed trying to make everyone happy, this conversation is one you'll want to hear.Christina breaks down what it means to be “selfish” in a way that's actually healthy, empowering, and necessary for a life that feels aligned. Because when you're clear on what you want, you not only show up better for yourself—you show up better for everyone around you.
I found a post on FB from someone new and I connected with it right away. It's from Sam Demma and he shares something that one of his high school teachers shared with him that is very relevant for all of us to connect with. “Small consistent actions” were the three words that his teacher shared with him. The question he asked the class was “what do these people have in common?” He had written many famous people's names on the board before this. These words are not only meant for famous people. They are meant for all of us. Again, the clip that I'm sharing shares this story much easier than I ever could. Check it out HERE. Thanks for listening. I came across something that really hit home for me. This post from Gary Hensel (@gary_hensel) reminded me that “Somebody didn't wake up today, but you did. That's enough reason to stop complaining, and that's enough to be thankful for. Never let your troubles blind you to your daily blessings.” Recently I went to a funeral service for a longtime family friend, finding out a former student of mine recently passed away and most recently a neighbor and good friends of ours - lost a family member very quickly. I know it happens every day and that it is a true part of life. But, I needed a reminder about the “me complaining” part. Many times I lose sight of the reality of life and what others are going through. I think that empathy is a skill for all of us to keep working on, once again this really goes for most of our “leaders” in our country today for sure. Thanks for listening. This was the post that I spoke about from Friday's show and it comes from Greg Berge (@gb1121) where he shares his video from an NBA legend, Doug Collins. “Too many kids today are afraid of failure.” Doug Collins reminds us that “Failure isn't the end. It's the lesson. It's how you grow, learn, and get tougher. Every champion has failed; they just refused to stay there.” Now of course it hits differently hearing the clip instead of me just talking about it or reading the quotes. The big motivating factor from this lesson is that since we all fail, every single one of us, many times a day - this should fire us up to see the opportunities we have to grow, learn, improve, etc., every single day! I know that I need to hear this lesson again as I tend to forget the chances I have to really improve myself and my life, whenever failure hits. Another big truth… This is not just for kids. I was reading my “Daily Reader” from John Maxwell on my Kindle app, and yesterday's lesson was about making failure your best friend. I love how easy he puts part of this. John mentions “When you are able to learn from any bad experience and thereby turn it into a good experience, you make a major transition in life. For years I've taught something that I think gives useful insight on the subject of change: People change when they… Hurt enough that they have to, Learn enough that they want to, and Receive enough that they are able to.” Thinking about these true statements got me thinking not only about myself in each of those three, but also the fact that others are there too. I want to focus on helping others to receive more encouragement to help them get through the first two parts. Another thought from John Maxwell, where he picked up this from Jim Rohn: “Don't let your learning lead to knowledge; let your learning lead to action.” Hey, don't get me wrong, knowledge is great - but what do we do with that knowledge? Those ideas? Those thoughts? Putting them into action is the key and when that action leads to us getting better, along with helping others to get better too, well that is a great place to be. I know I need to continue putting more action into my life and looking to make a difference in the lives of others. I found another clip that I wanted to share, but I'll save that for Monday. I found this from Ball is Psych (@BallisPsych) and it's a great reminder for all of us in life and I know it's something I need to keep working on for sure. “You are in control of your life. There are four things you can control every day of your life: attitude, work ethic, how you treat others and how you treat yourself.” — Pat Summitt. Coach Summit was right… We do have some things that we can control and for me, it's something that I need to focus on. I'm starting to get some ideas for my word of the year for 2026 and it's going to be connected to Intentional. My attitude needs work on for sure, every single day! My work ethic is something to still improve, even though I'm not “working” every day anymore. How I treat others?? Wow.. that's one for sure that I need to improve upon… always! The last one, how I treat myself, well that one has been on my “to do list” for a very long time. I see that all of these are connected to living my best life, so once again I'm up for the challenge to keep getting better. Thanks for listening. I listened to John O'Leary's podcast yesterday, entitled “Breaking Down The Walls” for his Monday Moment episode #825 (click the link HERE to listen to it - really gets us thinking about things.) Please, check out the movie - Soul On Fire. You will walk away fired up for connecting to things a bit differently in your life's journey. Having a bit more gratitude in life in place of connecting to cynicism, anger, complaining and hate; can take us into a much better direction. From this episode - “My friends, any fool can criticize, complain and condemn. It's common and trends among the critics of the world. But in choosing gratitude instead, walls crumble, hope is restored and lives are transformed. Today, let's release our bend toward cynicism and instead ignite a spirit of gratitude. It will change not only your world, but those you encounter in it.” In a time where there are so many troubles - many created to divide - let's find some ways of not only leaning more on gratitude but also to take a look at our perspective on things in life. This can help us to see our lives differently. Maybe with more hope, passion, energy, willingness to not quit, along with wanting to help others along with helping ourselves to simply do better in all that we do. I listen to all of John's podcasts and they always get me to not only think differently, but to also see things a bit differently too. I am inspired after every episode and with that inspiration, I am trying to put action into living my best life. Thanks for listening. In this episode, Christina Lecuyer gets real about a moment that hit harder than she expected — being called a “life coach.” What seemed like a simple label sparked frustration, self-doubt, and a deeper question of identity. Christina opens up about what it's like to feel misunderstood in your work, why certain words can trigger old insecurities, and how to move through emotional reactions instead of letting them define you.She shares the inner work she had to do: realizing where the anger came from, why proving herself mattered so much, and how she reclaimed her voice and confidence in the consulting space. This episode is for anyone who has ever felt misjudged, underestimated, or boxed into a version of themselves that didn't feel true.If you're in a season of redefining yourself, this conversation reminds you that growth is rarely clean — but always worth it.
