Professor, Coach Ray, with another lesson and it's all about a similar connection from my last show.   It centers around the old saying about Rome not being built in a day.  The patience thing comes into play for sure, but so does doing the work (laying the bricks).  This got me jacked up and inspired.. In part 2 of 3, I continue the conversation with Dr. Chavonne as we  discuss the importance of setting boundaries and making conscious choices in relationships affected by alcohol consumption. We emphasize that boundaries are a means to protect oneself and are not about controlling or judging the other person's behavior. We explore how to navigate situations where one partner's drinking habits cause discomfort and suggest ways to address these challenges without resorting to ultimatums.Key Takeaways:Boundaries in relationships are about protecting yourself, not controlling the other person's behavior.Setting boundaries involves making choices that prioritize your emotional well-being.Ultimatums should be reframed as personal choices rather than threats.Examining your own needs and triggers before addressing your partner's behavior can lead to more productive conversations. It's essential to own your decision to stay in a relationship and focus on the reasons that matter most to you rather than trying to change your partner's behavior. Please check out Dr. Chavonne and all of her amazing offerings including the episode Matthew and I recored for her podcast about our experience in her program, the Marriage Upgrade. When confronted with how to change, most people become overwhelmed before they even begin. Such questions as: How do I change? Where do I start? and What should I do? - being vague in nature - become the starting place for a quick ending. When you can't define a path or see things as manageable most people quickly give up. This is a truth around anything from changing careers, growing a business, working on a relationship or even just wanting to improve a personal habit. If you talk to Cody Smith, however, he will tell you that change happens incrementally. Although it's good to dream and to surround yourself with people who are where you want to be, you also must realize that many of them got to where they are with perseverance and time. HOWEVER, if you truly want to be where they are, and can envision yourself there, you don't need to worry about how or how long, you simply need to take small steps. Because one small step leads to another step which ultimately leads to traction, change, and the place you really want to go. What's stopping you from that new job, more purposeful business, better relationship or better you? Pretty much you and the ego-driven sense of failure in thinking you have to have arrived before you even begin. Cody's Habit Tracking system can help you change that, and to start a real path to change, progress or success one step at a time.

In an increasingly relative culture, it seems like personal responsibility is increasingly absent.  We see this in our coworkers, our friends, perhaps even in our spouses or significant others.  Maybe we have even been told that we ourselves lack this.  But why is personal responsibility important?  Does it really hurt if we don't share the same sense of responsibility as those around us?  Here, the Paradigm Switch examines what personal responsibility is and whether it is important that we in Christ demonstrate it.

In this first episode of a three part series, I welcome my personal marriage coach, the brilliant Dr. Chavonne to discuss navigating relationships and alcohol change. We explore the complexities of relationships and how they can impact personal growth, especially when dealing with alcohol-related changes. Dr. Chavonne shares insights on making changes within a partnership, managing a partner's reactions, setting boundaries, and emphasizes the importance of running your own race when it comes to personal transformation. This episode is a note taker and goes beyond just intimate relationships Key Takeaways:Individual Journeys: Making changes related to alcohol should primarily be an individual journey, even within a partnership, as each person has their unique experiences and reasons for change.Managing Partner's Reactions: When one partner starts making changes, the other may rebel or react differently. Patience and acceptance are crucial during the adjustment period.Transitions and Boundaries: Recognize that transitions are part of personal growth. Setting boundaries and allowing an adjustment period can help maintain harmony in the relationship.Tolerating Negative Emotion: It's essential to build the capacity to tolerate negative emotions without relying on changing circumstances entirely for emotional well-being.Non-Attachment and Authenticity: When discussing changes with a partner, do so authentically but without attachment to their immediate understanding or acceptance, allowing them to process at their pace.Don't miss the next two episodes where we dive even further into the dynamics of navigating love and alcohol. Ep #227 - Anxiety comes in waves. Anxiety can set up camp and be in me for weeks on end. The variables that create these feelings are just as infinite as the human experience. Whether it be during a new habit's creation or waking up realizing that 73 days has become 1 while I was sleeping - taking responsibility for my actions and results, and the thoughts and feelings floating (or rampaging) inside of me at any moment are mine and mine alone to work through.  In this week's episode I discuss how I manuever through my anxiety, start (and restart) new streaks, how I make new habits, and, most importantly, why I believe it imperative we all accept responsibility for the life we have and are creating - because in the end handing over our power to someone else isn't gonna right our path. In this episode, we're chatting about business as a spiritual practice, ethical marketing, and cultivating a reciprocal relationship with one's business with frequent podcast guest Kat Lee. Kat shares her experiences with various businesses and how they have shaped how she does business today. Lindsey and Kat explore the concept of the Dao, a guiding principle, and its application to business and life. They emphasize the cyclical nature of business, with seasons of growth and contraction, and how these phases can lead to greater alignment and clarity in one's business. Additionally, they touch upon the importance of support and containment, especially for those with a more expansive and watery nature. They discuss the importance of incorporating earthy practices to provide containment for emotions, using a nature analogy of riverbanks to illustrate the need for boundaries and strength. The conversation also delves into the drawbacks of fast-paced, high-pressure business growth and the need for a sustainable, long-term approach. The idea of foundational work and flexibility in business development is likened to homesteading and the careful planning and adaptation required to manage land effectively — without immediate gratification. It underscores the value of slowing down and being open to pivoting when necessary. Kat shares about her one-of-a-kind group coaching program Business Alchemist Mentorship (BAM), which focuses on business as a spiritual practice and developing a reciprocal relationship with your business. The program covers various aspects of entrepreneurship, including clarifying values and ethics, finding your niche, conscious marketing, and more. Have you considered how your philosophical beliefs shape your outlook and decisions? Prioritizing self-improvement can get lost amid hectic schedules and life's demands. However, self-reflection can begin at any time, creating infinite opportunities. It starts by investing the time to get to know ourselves, our world, and our history. This week, we hosted a philosophical thought leader and author, Mark Gober. Mark offers a thought-provoking perspective to help navigate the world we find ourselves in today. You won't want to miss this mentally stimulating episode of the Future Generations with your host, Dr Stanton Hom!   Quotes: "I think you're right, that philosophy is fundamental for all of us, even if we don't realize it, because it determines the compass that we set for our life." – Mark Gober "Ignorance is one of the problems, not in a judgmental way, but objectively. If people knew and processed things, there would be no choice but to adjust life in a beneficial way." – Mark Gober "So what liberty means, relative to statism, is that the services that the government provides, they can be provided by people in a voluntary marketplace, with competition." – Mark Gober Key Takeaways: Philosophy is one of the most important things governing your life, even if you don't realize it. It shapes your point of view and the way you want to live. Your path is set by what you believe and what you value. Don't let your busy life stop you from taking the time to self-reflect.. Give yourself time to learn about yourself and realize how important it is to question and improve your outlook. You can start this journey at any time. Find out the truth about how the world works. To make good choices and determine your life's purpose, you need to know about the world around you, your place in it, and your history. Understand that liberty and personal responsibility go hand in hand. Taking responsibility for your actions and decisions is essential for personal growth and well-being.   Highlights/Timeline: [01:46] – How did Mark start his writing journey? [11:21] – Mark shares the most prominent challenge humanity faces today [17:22] – How does Mark's background relate to the synergistic connection between truth and liberty? [30:01] – Does worldview affect how a person perceives health and their life choices? [40:17] – What is Mark's driving purpose and mission? [46:43] – What can people do to move towards truth and liberty?   Conclusion: Self-awareness and critical thinking help shape what we believe and what we do. You think you know what love is? Of course you do because it's what it is to you - what it feels like, looks like, sounds like, smells like. But what IS it REALLY?  Is it a feeling? Is it an experience? Is it simply everything all at once...the convergence of energies that will alter your existence, even if only for a brief moment in time? If you ask me, love is the highest vibrational force in the universe. It can explode, implore, impart, include and revere anything. It is the greatest gift you never asked for and the most painful thing to experience when you believe you've lost it.  But ask Scotte Burns, and he says it's not a feeling at all. It's more about connection and ways to bridge a gap between another person and what's happening inside of you. For love, according to Scotte, is all about the embodiment of a power in you and the way someone else brings up the gift of that power inside.  In the end, love is only and ever inside of you, waiting to flow into the next experience you have. It really doesn't matter if the experience "feels" good or bad. Love is the energetic essence of your being and when you deny it's there, or believe it's only a fleeting feeling, you may be missing out on the greatest loves of your life.

Take The Business Breakthrough Quiz here Key Points Covered: My personal journey of taking things personally in my business and its negative impact. The realization that taking radical personal responsibility is the key to achieving desired results. My story of transformation through new knowledge, coaching, self-love, and gratitude. How unresolved issues manifest in different areas of our lives. The importance of reconnecting with our passion and purpose in business. Building a business is a challenging personal development journey that requires self-growth. The power of radical personal responsibility in achieving extraordinary results.  "When you take things personally in your business, it's your brain's way of ensuring that you stay committed to your fears and perceived limitations. When you take radical personal responsibility in your business, then you can see everything purely as data. And only one of those ways is gonna get you the results that you want."   In today's episode, I share my personal story of how taking things personally in my business led me down a destructive path and how I made a radical shift towards personal responsibility to turn things around. It was not an easy journey, but it was transformative. I started my business as a personal trainer in 2012, initially just for fun and to make some extra money. However, I soon became obsessed with metrics and social media. I constantly worried about class attendance, numbers, and money. I overworked myself, gave too much away for free, and used alcohol as a coping mechanism for my anxieties. But then, I had a breakthrough moment when I realized that I wasn't my thoughts. This realization opened up the possibility of defeating my demons and taking control of my mindset. Through further learning, coaching, and self-acceptance, I began to change my story.I discovered that unresolved issues can manifest in different areas of our lives, like different outfits of the same underlying problem. It was crucial for me to reconnect with the passion that drove me to start my business in the first place and focus on the people I wanted to serve. Building a business is not just about strategy; it's a journey of personal growth. Taking radical personal responsibility means seeing everything as data and not attaching personal meaning to it. It means showing up for ourselves and continuously learning and adapting to achieve extraordinary results. So, if you're ready to shift from taking things personally to embracing radical personal responsibility, this episode is for you. Let's dive in and start building the mindset and skills necessary to create the business and life you truly desire. Remember, the key is to implement what you learn immediately and experience the personal breakthroughs that will transform your business. Take The Business Breakthrough Quiz

Dr. Noam Shpancer joins Unlatched Mind to delve into the complex interplay of technology, mental health, and personal responsibility. Dr. Shpancer, a clinical psychologist and professor, provides valuable insights into the challenges posed by the modern digital landscape, particularly concerning the mental well-being of young people. Our conversation began with an exploration of how excessive choices, a byproduct of advanced civilization, can paradoxically lead to dissatisfaction and stress. Dr. Shpancer introduced the concept that having too many options can often result in decision regret, as we are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of choices we face in various aspects of life. One significant contributor to this phenomenon is the proliferation of technology, particularly smartphones and social media. Dr. Shpancer pointed out that the introduction of cell phones coincided with rising levels of anxiety and depression, suggesting a potential link between technology use and declining mental health. He explained that heavy users of social media are more susceptible to negative mental health effects, as the platforms are designed to maximize user engagement by presenting extreme and agreeable content. Our conversation then shifted to the broader societal context, emphasizing that the responsibility for addressing these issues should not rest solely on individuals or parents. Dr. Shpancer highlighted the need for both top-down and bottom-up efforts to create a healthier technological environment. While individuals should be empowered and educated about responsible technology use, there must also be societal regulations and rules governing technology usage in specific contexts. Just as smoking was made uncool through social pressure, similar tactics can be employed to reduce excessive phone and screen time. Furthermore, Dr. Shpancer likened the challenge of moderating technology use to managing other aspects of life, such as food consumption. Both technology and food are essential for survival, but excessive use can be detrimental. He advocated for finding the right balance and purpose in technology use, just as one would with food. Technology can be a valuable tool for business, education, and connection when used mindfully. Throughout our conversation, the concept of "dial issues" was introduced. Dr. Shpancer explained that many challenges in life are not binary "switch issues" but rather dial issues. This means that moderation and finding the right level of use are essential, similar to adjusting a dial to control light or volume. We should aim to dial down our technology use to a functional level while considering the purpose and type of our usage. In summary, Dr. Noam Shpancer's insights shed light on the challenges posed by technology in the modern world, particularly its impact on mental health. Our conversation underscores the importance of striking a balance in technology use, combining individual responsibility with societal regulations to create a healthier technological environment. Ultimately, technology can be a valuable tool when used mindfully and purposefully, contributing positively to various aspects of our lives. I realized I am confused about accountability. I think of accountability as responsibility, self-responsibility or personal responsibility vs. ultimate accountability. Can you shake out this confusion for me? I can understand taking responsibility regarding one's conditioning, but then I can't put my arms around ultimate accountability as something other than self-responsibility, which it must be since there is no self. Thanks so much for the help through this confusion.

In this engaging podcast discussion, Jos Willard and I focus on new coaches and how they can thrive in a competitive coaching landscape. The concept of "coopetition" takes center stage, challenging the common belief that there's a shortage of clients. Once we understand there is actually an abundance of clients then we realize why we benefit from specialization. We also cover the need for coaches to understand that coaching and running a coaching business require distinct skill sets and mindsets so that the road to success is easier to navigate. Highlights:· The podcast shines a light on the intriguing "law of coopetition," which argues that there are plenty of coaching clients to go around, dispelling the scarcity myth.· Coaching is a vast, multi-billion-dollar industry with numerous niches, offering plenty of room for coaches to carve their own paths.· It's crucial to differentiate between trained coaches and those with certifications but lacking coaching skills to further support the growth of this profession and adhere to professional standards.· Coaching associations like the ICF play a role in setting coaching standards and guidelines.· Coaches need to understand that coaching and running a coaching business require distinct skill sets and mindsets.· Three personas within business owners—the entrepreneur, manager, and technician—are discussed, highlighting the need for coaches to switch between these roles effectively.· Newer coaches are advised to assess their current business model, client attraction strategies, and find a mentor or coach who aligns with their style and goals.· Embracing change and trying new approaches is vital, avoiding analysis paralysis.· Overcoming fear and resistance to change is a key part of a coach's journey to success. Ep #225 - In today's chaotic world, we often lose sight of the value of real communication, personal responsibility, and the importance of taking our time—especially crucial when navigating the journey from sobriety to recovery. Let's explore how these three elements become the cornerstone of any successful recovery story. Effective communication is vital in any recovery journey, as it helps prevent misunderstandings and conflicts. We're all leaders in some aspect of our lives, and clear communication is key for leadership. More importantly, it's essential for managing complex emotions like anger and despair, which can derail recovery if not properly addressed. Taking personal responsibility is central to a successful recovery. Owning your story helps break the toxic cycle of blaming, complaining, and making excuses. It empowers you to shift from seeing your past as a "wasted life" to viewing it as a source of wisdom and purpose. Acknowledging your ability to shape your life creates an empowering narrative for your recovery. Slowing down can actually speed up your recovery. While acting on impulse may seem brave, it can also be reckless and counterproductive. Adopting mindfulness and awareness techniques allows you to assess situations more clearly. This aligns with themes from our previous episode, "Time Wasted or Wisdom Gained?", emphasizing that slowing down is a key component of a successful recovery. Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now. It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN. Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, head the call! ******************************************** I know you enjoy the show, so PLEASE SUBSCRIBE, RATE, AND REVIEW on your preferred streaming app or click this link to review on iTunes - Let's spread the word about our show TOGETHER!    Your simple action of rating and reviewing does wonders in helping others find the show.   Thank you so much for listening and being a part of my tribe and this wonderfully supportive community. Living Joyful and Well

Today I am talking about taking control of YOU. Have we become soft as a society? Many people will say we have and that we are going down a path of self-destruction. It's my belief that we can change that trajectory by simply taking back our individual power and being our personal best! Don't allow someone on the outside to tell you that you have to do this or that- take your power back and take control of you. Remember, your health and your fitness are YOUR #1 job as you age!JOIN 'Team IronMom Life' on Facebook HEREEnjoy your day!!

Saw this thought online this morning and I did a FB life on it too - Saying Yes to things that can benefit us and focusing in on those moments.  It also has us doing a bit more of saying No to other things too.  But I've been trying to be a bit more conscious about these moments a bit more recently and I like what's going on.  What can you start saying Yes to?   Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.
