It's mid July, which for baseball, means it's the All-Star Break. A great player and coach, Clint Hurdle (@ClintHurdle13) shared this super easy thought for all of us to connect to. “Be a friend. Be a helper. Be kind. That's it.”  In fact, I mentioned in today's episode how I need to reach out to a couple of people - I need to pause this and do that…. There, I feel a bit better reaching out to a few people.  This formula is an easy one to follow. For us to look out to make it a part of our interactions with others, but for sure we need to do the same for ourselves too!  Always things for me to work on to keep getting better & I like it like that.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.

When I saw this post, it reminded me that courage can be quiet and not always a loud roar, but it also signaled to me that I can be (and need to be) more courageous in my life for sure.  This came from The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) where it was shared - “Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day, saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.'”  Sometimes it's the most courageous thing we can do and it's probably something that nobody else will realize… but we will. I found a post that really got me thinking about things and there are some thoughts of mine that come with it too. (of course there is, that's what my show is all about)  This one came from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) where this reminder was posted for all of us, and I can see that it covers all humans, just about every day!  “You're being tested because you're evolving. This is your turning point. Don't let it break you.” Since we are changing all the time as we get older and time goes marching by, we have multiple opportunities to keep getting better and not to give up and quit. It makes sense to not only have awesome people around us that inspire us, but also that we spend our time going after or creating things that “fire us up”! Spending our time doing things that are a part of our reason for being alive!!  That helps us for sure not to want to get broken or to quit.

Again, amazing like always I see a post of something when I need it the most. Late yesterday I found out a former student of mine passed away. I know his family well as I also taught his two siblings. His two parents are a big part of the school community where I taught for 30 years. The post came from POSITIVITY (@PositivitySaid) where it was an image of 3 framed pictures on the wall over a couch. The three pictures each had a part of a quote that went together. There were three main words and smaller ones underneath. It went like this: “GRATEFUL for the small things, FOR the big things & EVERYTHING in between.”  In my tearful reflections over this happening, I thought of the conversations I had with this student and members of his family over the years. Lots of laughter and love along with a few tears here and there too. It also reminded me how blessed I have been to have ALL my former coworkers, students, that community, etc., that poured into me in so many ways, that my life became better from all of it.  Please - continue to think about ways where you (we) can simply just keep focused on getting better along with treating each other with more love, kindness, empathy, compassion, etc. We need each other to look out for each other and help each other to be our best. When we keep working to be our best, we all benefit in so many ways.  Sending lots of love, prayers, positive thoughts along with a little action behind things to keep getting better - all to his family, his many friends and our school community.

I found a post that fit exactly with what I did yesterday with one of my best friends. From Seek Wiser (@SeekWiser_), “Proof the best things in life are free: Sunrises, Sunsets, Hugs, Conversations, Love, Waking Up, Nature, Laughter.” The breakfast that I had with one of my best friends, Scott, got me thinking about the fact that I've been through all the items on this list (and more) with him throughout our lives. I've also been blessed to have others be a part of this list too. There are so many other things that are free in life - recognizing them along with being lucky enough to share them with others, is a key to what I think is a very happy & fulfilled life. Going through this list on this episode, really got my emotions going as I'm seeing (again), how blessed I really am. When I connect things like this list to special people in my life, I get inspired & feel a tremendous amount of encouragement.  Scott helped to remind me of both again as I shared some breakfast time with him.  Find those things that are “free” in life & not only connect with them for yourself, but also look to connect them to others in your life too.

Life is a journey, not a competition.” Just imagine - like my good buddy Coach Rich Bowers told me and my leadership students so many years ago, life is all about creating “win - win” types of relationships - and if we had more people looking to create those!! I just came across one of the simplest, yet strongest reminders for life and it came from Mind Essentials (@Mind_Essentials). This simple thought for all of us is: “When you get tired, learn to rest - not quit!” - Banksy. In today's busy world with so many things going on, it is really easy to keep pushing ourselves. There are moments for sure where we need to pause, take a deep breath, rest and then keep going. In order to be our best, so we can be our best for others and chasing after our dreams and goals; we do need to take moments of recharging so we can feel like we can keep going. I found this message to be really comforting. I hope you get comforted and inspired by it too.

Right off the bat when I saw this, I mistook it for someone else and after I recorded this episode, I realized this was not the sports broadcaster that I thought it was.  My apologies for mixing this up.  Steve Keating (@LeadToday) put this out there:   “If you're not making progress then you're probably not making anything else either.”   This post got me thinking and connected this to another item I just ran across and that is the podcast from John O'Leary where he interviewed his guest, Kyle Scheele. It's a powerful episode - liste to it HERE.  The main post from Steve was that it was connected to a quote from Benjamin Franklin, which said:  “Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.”  The reason this popped up on my radar was that both connections reminded me how important it is to keep going in life. To keep learning new things along with to keep putting in effort in life because of the new things.  I really advise you to listen to that podcast from John O'Leary as there were so many things in there that inspired this podcast & inspired me too!!

Found a double stacker today with some good reminders for all of us. The first one came from Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) where this was shared: “Allow yourself to shine without the desire to be seen.” As I was sharing some thoughts here in this episode about this post, I started to share something else from a post I also shared - this one came from Mind Essentials (@Mind_Essentials) where this thought connected:  “Do everything with a good heart, expect nothing in return, and you will never be disappointed.”  Both of these tie into the thought of “do good anyway.” No matter what is happening - nobody is telling you thank you, someone you helped didn't help you, your kind heart is not getting you noticed, etc. Also, there will be the arrows that get shot at you - the negativity, hatred, anger, lies, etc.  Again, do good anyway! The world needs more of it for sure.

Found this powerful reminder that is right on target for all of us. From Psyche Wizard (@PsycheWizard) where they shared this: “Your discipline is your product, your name is your brand, your habits are your investments.”  Each of these are certainly things that I am still working on, and really, always will be.  My discipline is something that is always on my stove cooking away. Since that ties into whatever “products” I put out there to the world, building up my name is part of that too.  My brand is my name for sure and since my habits are part of who I am, my future is sown with those habits. Found a great connection to today's message, and it simply came from me going to a doctor's appointment along with running an errand. I saw the post from Inspiration & More (@LifeWithJohn) where this thought about happiness was shared:  “Happiness is not about longing for things that you don't have; true happiness comes from inner peace. It also comes from inner peace. It also comes from appreciating your life and people around you. Happiness is something that you cultivate from within.” -Sangeeta Rana.  This really hit home with me and reminded me of the simple fact that happiness is indeed a choice.  Too many people going around complaining (I am one of those people plenty of times - trying to get better though) so I know how easy it is to do it.  But, I've been working on not letting others cause me to do it.  I know I have to work at not complaining, so for me it's an everyday battle.  I do know it's worth it for sure. I found a great short reminder about what we can do instead of seeking revenge on someone.  This person puts out some great stuff, thanks Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) for this:  “A wise man said:  Don't seek revenge. The rotten fruits will fall by themselves.”  Those people who are out there causing you problems - just remember, they are causing troubles for others and mainly themselves!! Don't waste your time trying to get back at them as we all have to remember, they live with themselves!!  All the “crap” they are putting out in the world, all comes back to them. We can rest easy at night knowing we don't have to live with them and that we are investing in ourselves to be our best; while they are using all of their time putting out seeds of anger, negativity, hatred, lies, etc. Don't give them a second more of your energy!!

Another awesome post came across my “tele-type” this morning from Seek Wiser (@SeekWiser_) which reminded me of a few things. This post shared these great thoughts: “Make it a habit to talk about blessings more than burdens.  When you spread positivity, the Universe blesses you with even more blessings.  Close the window that triggers you, no matter how captivating it is.  Be disciplined about what you entertain. Where focus goes, energy flows.” These things on this list screamed at me to keep working on them - for my sake and the sake of everyone that needs me to be my best.  I think if you look at each of these statements for yourself, like me, you will find plenty to keep working on yourself, in order to be your best. I found these three things that made sense to me about how I can keep getting better.  The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) reminds all of us that “Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.” The first thing that got my attention is that all three of these are things that I know I can work on and to keep looking to improve. When that happens, I know that the people that I love and care about, will get my best version of myself - which in turn will help them in different ways. Little things like this can help us throughout our lives.

Wow.. what a fun one this one was to put together. I tried a video recording along with recording the audio on my phone. The video will be on my Youtube channel so I can put it out there and start to do some different things. Not sure what all of those are, but I'm trying them for sure.  The idea from this episode mainly came from a former student of mine, Rynn Foster who posted this awesome picture of a sunrise with the thought: “One day we'll all be a sunrise in someone's life, a beautiful sunrise” That got me thinking about the fact how special that will be having someone remember me when they look at a beautiful sunrise (or sunset too), along with the fact that it got me thinking about family and loved ones that are no longer here or those that I have not seen in a long time.  There were a lot of emotions with this post when I saw it as my day got started out thinking about things in a more positive way, wanting to get better for myself and for others - especially in today's negative, angry and hateful world. Rynn helped to remind me of what I want to focus more on - I reached out to her and thanked her for this and it reminds me of one of many things that I love about being a life-long educator.  My students / players / coworkers have always been difference makers for me and for many of them, it's been happening throughout my whole life!! Fired up about this message today as it hit me when I saw it (again) and as I was sharing from my heart, it lit another spark inside of me too.  I hope it does the same to you too. Who started this spark?  It was Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) where he shares his reflections on the quote that he shared with this post: “A message for today … It's never too late to begin again. Regarding your mistakes? They're lessons, not failures. You're allowed to rise, rewrite & rediscover what truly feels like you. There's no expiration date on becoming who you're meant to be.”  I absolutely dialed into his message about “no expiration date” - and it obviously made an impact on him as he pulled it from the quote too. Very powerful episode to not only share with others, but to give some feedback on too. Yes, I am writing some things down as I told you I was going to do…

Today I found another great reminder that it seemed was posted just for me and it came from Liminal (@Liminal1988)  where it was shared that “After a certain age,...” we should really be responsible for our lives and where we are at. We can stop blaming our past, others, our mishaps, mistakes, etc., and realize we are where we are due to the choices we have made up until that point. Love the line that “you can either take ownership of your life or become a prisoner to excuses.” This is really not a surprise to me, for I agree with it 100%. This was eye-opening for me. When I came across this post from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) which shares a great idea as to what inner peace is all about. This reminded us that: “Inner Peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions.”  The first thing that came to my mind was the fact that I need to work on this a lot more and that every day brings us many times where we have to deal with other people and events that make it tough.  But then as I was recording, I thought about that and I took the view that I'm getting plenty of opportunities to strengthen this “muscle” of choice - and that's how I'm going to get better! I can't complain about these people and events - they are going to be there no matter what! I can focus on using them as moments / lessons, where I can get better! That was a very powerful mindshift for me. Life is all about getting better, whenever & wherever we can.

Saw a fantastic list that got me thinking about things that not only money can't buy, but also realizing these things are more valuable than money AND they are all things that I (and maybe others) need to keep getting better with.  From Power of Positivity (@LIVEpositivity) This list here shows “Things money can't buy: 1. Manners 2. Morals 3. Respect 4. Character 5. Common sense 6. Trust 7. Patience 8. Class 9. Integrity 10. Love.” The other thing that I noticed about this list is that the world needs more people living more and more in their everyday lives.  Also remember that since there are not many people living these - when we do live things on this list, we end up looking better - all thanks to those that choose not to be examples.

This book is one that I know I will be recommending to many people. As I  continue to read Jon Gordon's latest book, “The 7 Commitments of a Great Team”, the lessons that are available for all of us remind me that I need to simply just work on getting better every single day. I hope, since you are listening to this podcast and probably others, that you want to keep improving too.  In this final part 5 of 5 Ways to Stay Positive, this one is titled “Talk to yourself. Don't listen to yourself.” Remember there is the acronym of LIGHT for these 5 steps and this is the final one, the “T”.  This is one of my favorites because I need this reminder every single day!  Instead of letting my own negative & self-defeating voice direct my day, I need to talk to myself and be my own biggest encourager & cheerleader!!  Since we are the thoughts that we think & believe, we might as well be thinking and believing our best!!  I can't believe the negative ones, I need to connect with & live out the positive ones. Nobody is going to do this for me, I need to speak these into existence into my own life.  Love these reminders of these 5 lessons.

This book is a good one. As I  continue to read Jon Gordon's latest book, “The 7 Commitments of a Great Team”, the lessons that are available for all of us are powerful and life-changing.  In part 4 of 5 Ways to Stay Positive, this one is titled “Have Faith.” Remember there is the acronym of LIGHT for these 5 steps and this one is the “H”.  When it comes down to it, Faith helps us to connect with the idea that things are going to get better. Of course we need to understand that challenges will come along in life.. Many of them of course… but we also need to understand (and believe) that we will overcome them.  Love this line from the book - “Trust that struggle leads to strength and setbacks lead to comebacks.” This is something that I need to work on for sure. John O'Leary (https://johnolearyinspires.com/) says it all the time, that we should believe that “the best is yet to come.”   Thanks for listening.

As I gladly continue to read Jon Gordon's latest book, “The 7 Commitments of a Great Team”, I am fired up about continuing to gather so many life lessons. In part 3 of 5 Ways to Stay Positive, this one is titled “Get To.” Remember there is the acronym of LIGHT for these 5 steps and this one is the “G”.  This one is right to my heart as Jon reminds us about when we find ourselves complaining - which I still need to work on - we need to remind ourselves that we “get to” do things in our miracle of life, instead of “having to do” them.  When we are able to focus on Gratitude, we can move from being selfish, frustrated, and stressed to more of an attitude of gratitude, appreciation and abundance.  I love this reminder: “Research shows that you can't be stressed and thankful at the same time. If you are feeling grateful, you won't feel stressed.”  He is 100% on target. I just need to do it a bit more often, every day!! I am working on it so it becomes more of a habit.

As I continue to read Jon Gordon's new book, “The 7 Commitments of a Great Team”, I continue to pick up so many life lessons. In part 2 of 5 Ways to Stay Positive, this one is titled “Inside Out.” Remember there is the acronym of LIGHT for these 5 steps and this one is the “I”.  Jon reminds us that the real truth and power of our lives comes from inside us, not from the outside world. I love this point that he brings up that as we create our life from the inside out, it's all about our spirit, our soul, our passion, and our power from within us. This is why it's always so important to keep working on ourselves, all throughout life! Keep improving, it's the way to go!!

If you're struggling with manifesting money, love, or success, it might be because you're spiritually blocked. In this powerful throwback conversation, David Ghiyam, co-founder of Mary Ruth Organics and leading Kabbalah teacher, reveals the ancient spiritual principles that govern abundance and why most people unknowingly sabotage their own manifestation. David breaks down: – Why your soul chooses specific challenges to accelerate your growth – The two biggest spiritual blocks preventing you from receiving abundance – How judgment creates karmic debt and keeps you stuck in painful cycles – Why competing desires sabotage your manifestation (and how to align them) – The spiritual flywheel: creating unstoppable momentum in 24 hours – How childhood trauma and family dynamics shape your vessel for receiving – The difference between punishment-based religion and true spiritual transformation This isn't your typical manifestation content. David shares profound insights from Kabbalah that explain why some people effortlessly attract success while others struggle despite doing "all the right things." He reveals how taking complete responsibility for your reality and transforming your spiritual baggage opens the floodgates to receiving everything you desire. Whether you're an entrepreneur, parent, or anyone seeking deeper fulfillment, this conversation will shift how you understand success, relationships, and your soul's purpose. #kabbalah #manifestation #spirituality David Ghiyam Instagram: @davidghiyam ==== Thank You To Our Sponsors! I just got started reading Jon Gordon's new book, “The 7 Commitments of a Great Team”, and it's got some powerful lessons in it. Since teams are always a part of life, and it's not just sports, I wanted to share these 5 parts of Staying Positive. Over the next five days I'll be sharing some of my thoughts from his book.  He's all talking about “living LIGHT.” I'll explain what that means throughout this coming week. To start us off,  part 1 is all about “Love instead of Fear”. He brings up a couple of great points. Jon reminds us that Love puts a shadow on fear and helps to get rid of it.  Fears are out to weaken us, put limits on us and strikes doubt all around us. Remember, Love is a choice! Contrary to what some people think - love is a big-time strength, not a weakness like some people think. I feel bad for those people that think it's a weakness.

From a classic difference maker that has helped millions of people, this longtime golden advice comes from the great Jim Rohn and it's shared by Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) where Jim reminds us to “Go for the pain of discipline, it weighs ounces. The pain of regret weighs tons.”  Every time I hear or read this quote, it hurts. I have let things go for a long time where regrets are starting to get bigger. I've known it for 25 years or so on things that I wanted to create, go after, build, try, etc. All I can do - all any of us can do, is to use today to do something about those things. The discipline to do something today will be for sure easier than to try it later as we get older. Lot's of personal reflections for me here in this one. Hope it helps you too.
