It was a busy week in golf to end May and kick off June. Scottie Scheffler did his thing as expected once he was lurking on the leaderboard and pulled away on the weekend to go back-to-back at Jack's place, Muirfield Village. The world number 1 looks primed and ready for Oakmont and the upcoming U.S. Open. Speaking of U.S. Opens, the women went to Erin Hills in Wisconsin and faced some fiery green conditions and incredibly slow play for their championship. Nelly Korda made a run, but ultimately it was Maya Stark who came away with the victory, earning her first major title. June 2nd is the longest day in golf as it is sectional qualifying around the country for the U.S. Open. We will dive into some of the great stories and also see who will not be heading to Oakmont for this years U.S. Open. Where does good golf live? That is the question that Chad Dietz was looking to answer when he started Foreward Golf. When Chad couldn't find golf clubs that satisfied him, he started his own company. Foreward Golf irons look to fill a void in the golf club industry by giving players a variety of options that fit them. What sets Foreward Golf apart from other companies is their process. Chad created a fitting process that players can use to find any brand of golf club that works for them. Foreward Golf is brand agnostic and they are committed to getting golfers fit into the clubs that work best for them, regardless of what brand that is. The Foreward Golf fitting process involves 8 elements that can affect the golf club and the golf swing. After going through the fitting process, you will get a prescription into what golf clubs, shafts and grips work best for your swing. Typically overlooked due to its lack of star power, the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld provided an amazing final round on Sunday filled with drama. Journeyman Brian Campbell bested rookie Aldrich Potgieter in a playoff for his first win on the PGA Tour. In a true David vs. Goliath matchup, the PGA Tour's longest hitter, Potgieter, was bested by possibly its shortest hitter Campbell to win the event. Campball is only averaging about 277 yards off the tee this season while Potgieter is number one in driving distance on tour, averaging over 320 yards off the tee. Potgieter struggled with his short game all day, and while Campbell also had his struggles, he did enough to get into a playoff. On the 2nd playoff hole, Campbell hit a tee shot into the woods and what looked to be a certain loss, but the golf gods had other plans and spit his ball back out into play and he would up making birdie to win the playoff and punch his ticket to Augusta National and the Masters, as well as a two year exemption on the PGA Tour.
