Cameron Young got it done on Sunday at TPC Sawgrass for his 2nd career win on the PGA Tour and biggest of his career yet to date. The current number 4 player in the world used a birdie on 17 and a huge drive on 18 to catapult him to a one shot victory over Matthew Fitzpatrick, who missed an 8 footer for par and the tie on 18. Ludvig Aberg held a three shot lead midway through the round but collapsed, opening the door for Young and Fitzpatrick to duke it out down the stretch. Golf is a crazy and brutal game, even for the best in the world. Shane Lowry found that out this week at PGA National for the Cognizant Classic. With a three-shot lead on the 16th tee, he flared an iron into the water, which resulted in a double bogey. On the 17th tee shot he did it again, which allowed Nico Echavarria to take home the title. Anthony Kim completed a stunning career comeback this weekend as he bested Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau by firing a final round 63 to win going away at LIV Adelaide. For Kim it was his first win since 2010 on the PGA Tour and was a heartwarming story of overcoming injury, addiction and other things he has been battling. He showed the swagger we all remembered as he poured in put after put to win. On the PGA Tour, Collin Morikawa made a final hole birdie to hold off Min Woo Lee to win the AT&T Pebble Beach by a shot. It was professional golf's party week and we sent Tim down to Arizona for the Waste Management Phoenix Open. He took in all the festivities and is gonna fill us in all the wild stuff he saw in Scottsdale. Chris Gotterup got his 2nd win of the season in a playoff over Hideki Matsuyama and a bogey on the last by Matsuyama sent it into a playoff, which Gotterup birdied the first playoff hole for the win. Scottie Scheffler made a run the last three rounds after an opening round 73, but he came up a shot short. We will give our reactions to the event and focus on some young players that stood out again and should get serious consideration for the Presidents Cup team. Patrick Read won again on the DP World Tour, his second victory in three weeks. This all but locks up a 2027 PGA Tour card for the former Masters champion. Justin Rose blew the doors off the rest of the field this week at Torrey Pines to win his 13th PGA Tour title of his career. Rose started the week hot posting a -10 (62) on the North Course and kept the good play going en route to a record breaking performance in the event with a winning score of -23. Dundonald Links has hosted both the mens and womens Scottish Opens in the last decade and is also used by the R&A for final qualifying for the Open Championship. Mark Rivard, the artist behind Charcoal Golf joins Mike and Tim on the Break80 Podcast this week. Mark brings golf course architecture and holes to life through a blend of charcoal, watercolor, sharpie and colored pencils to create a mixed-media and urban twist on classic golf architecture. The unbelievable two-year run by Scottie Scheffler continues this week as the U.S. Ryder Cup team members played in Napa Valley in the Procore Championship. With his 6th win this season, Scheffler joined only Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods on the list of players to win 6 or more events in back-to-back seasons on the PGA Tour. Ryder Cup team member Ben Griffin had a chance to force a playoff with Scheffler, but 3-putted for par to lose by a shot. World number 1 amateur Jackson Koivun had his fourth straight top 10 finish on the PGA Tour, while handling the stress of playing in the final group. 11 of the 12 members of the European Ryder Cup team played in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this week. Ironically enough, the hottest player on the planet not named Scottie Scheffler took the title. Alex Noren, who is a vica captain for the European team beat all of the Ryder Cup members en route to his 2nd BMW PGA Championship. With European captain Luke Donald making his 6 captain's picks today, the teams are set for the Ryder Cup later this month in New York at Bethpage Black. The European team is essentially the same as the last Ryder Cup in Italy, with the only exception being that Rasmus Hojgaard is on this years team instead of his twin brother Nicolai. The United States team has been set for about a week now, with the big talker being captain Keegan Bradley opting to not pick himself to play. The United States team will look to keep the run of home teams winning the Ryder Cup. The podcast guys played a round at the historic Keller Golf Course in the Twin Cities and had a round for the ages. Keller Golf Course has hosted two PGA Championships and also was the host venue for the St. Paul Open, which was played for many decades on the PGA Tour. The group had 20 birdies, including a couple improbable ones from Timothy after hitting into a nature area, Jeff making 8 birdies and still shooting even par and Mike with a bogey-free 65. Fleetwood remained steady as other players including Patrick Cantlay and Scottie Scheffler faded down the stretch. Fleetwood's victory gets the monkey off his back after years of near misses and collapses while leading PGA Tour tournaments. Now the attention of the golf world shifts to the Ryder Cup and American captain Keegan Bradley. Will he pick himself this week as a playing captain? It was another win for Scottie Scheffler as he took the BMW Championship for his 5th win of the year and he keeps his incredible 3 year run on the PGA Tour going. Even though he didn't have his "A" game, Scheffler was able to chase down a shakey Robert MacIntyre early on Sunday and shut the door with a dramatic chip-in birdie on the 17th hole at Caves Valley on Sunday. We will talk about the ramifications of the BMW Championship on the Ryder Cup and Tour Championship this week at East Lake as well as other topics surrounding the PGA Tour. LIV Golf finished their regular season as Jon Rahm won the regular season title, without actually winning an event. We will discuss how it could possibly happen that Rahm wins, eventhough Joaquin Niemann won 5 events. The United States Amateur Championship headed west the last couple of weeks as the men played at the Olympic Club and the women at Bandon Dunes. Young has dealt with heartbreak and struggles closing out tournaments, but with a commanding lead he could cruise to victory in the last PGA Tour regular season event of the year. Happy Gilmore 2 was finally released with dozens of cameos from various stars and much of the cast back from the original, it broke records for Netflix viewership in its first week. We will dive into our thoughts on the movie and the cameos in it. Kurt Kitayama went on an epic heater over the weekend to win the 3M Open Championship. Kitayama made 20 birdies or better on the weekend in route to his first title since Bay Hill in 2023 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. We will discuss the week at the 3M and where players stand heading into the final regular season event before the playoffs. Lottie Woad won in her professional debut at the Scottish Open at Dundonald Links. With this win, her win at the Irish Open and strong finish at the Evian, we pose the question: Is Lottie Woad the best womens player in the world?
