On this episode of B.T.G.S. Radio, today's hottest and coolest new music station on Stationhead, host Kathleen Masciana welcomes her former high school technology teacher, Ms. Tina Perretti, to break down New York Governor Kathy Hochul's sweeping new “bell-to-bell” cell phone ban for public schools. The ban, set to start next year, will require all K-12 students to keep smartphones and internet-enabled devices put away for the entire school day-including class, lunch, and study hall-with exceptions only for medical needs, learning disabilities, or translation support. Hochul's goal is to eliminate digital distractions, curb compulsive social media use, and tackle the student mental health crisis, insisting that “we need classrooms where young minds can flourish, and that means eliminating once and for all the digital distractions that steal our kids' attention.” Kathleen, who supports the ban in classrooms for helping students focus, shares her reservations about restricting phones during lunch and study hall-she sees these as free time when students should have more autonomy. She also voices concerns about emergency communication, questioning how quickly kids can reach their families if phones are locked away, a worry echoed by students and critics statewide. Drawing from her own experience as a blind college student, Kathleen describes how her university leaves phone rules to professors; in some classes, she must keep her phone off and her Apple Watch in Schooltime Mode, but she's allowed to use her tablet and braille computer for accessibility, staying in touch with family via WhatsApp. This firsthand perspective highlights both the challenges and workarounds for students with accommodations under strict device policies. As the conversation unfolds, Kathleen and Ms. Tina debate whether it's practical-or even fair-to enforce a total ban during all parts of the school day, and discuss how schools can balance safety, focus, and freedom while ensuring parents can always reach their children. Tune in for a nuanced, real-world look at how the new phone ban could reshape school life, and what it means for students, teachers, and families across New York.

January 2025 updateNow that Amp has ended, a lot of what would've been my podcast energy (before Amp) has started to stack up. I have done shows once in a while on Stationhead, but I really feel like the podcast format is better for me. I will miss being able to play music to go along with my theme , but this format of driving and talking to the phone about my thoughts is very familiar and more comforting. So, welcome back to my personal journal, a.k.a. the Leslea show. Since this app records video, I will also be uploading to YouTube.

With seven Grammy Awards under his belt, Forrest Robinson has built quite the musical career for himself. He's toured as a drummer with bands India.Arie, Victor Wooten, Randy Crawford, Joe Sample, TLC, Ray Parker Jr., The Crusaders, Fifth Dimension, and Arrested Development to name a few. He has also performed live on “Saturday Night Live,” “Late Show with David Letterman,” “Good Morning America,” and many more. Forrest is also the drummer in Phil Collen's (Def Leppard lead guitarist) blues-rock-n-soul band Delta Deep. On the night of January 8th, 2025, during the devastating California fires that ravaged tens of thousands of acres, including the entire city of Altadena, Forrest's home he shared with his wife Paige, was razed to the ground. This included his music studio, revered drum set ‘Gretchen,' all his musical instruments, and vital computer equipment. Forrest and Paige evacuated their home the evening before, as directed, wearing only the clothes on their backs carrying their small pup. 'The Shoutout Music Appreciation 101', a weekly radio program on the Stationhead music platform and it's dedicated listening family, the TSO Audio Crew, have unified with the creation of this GoFundme to get the attention of many to help us assist Forrest who has been a dear friend, thoughtful person and masterful musical talent. We love you Forrest. https://gofund.me/6df08dc7https://gofund.me/6df08dc7

B.T.G.S. radio today's hottest and coolest new music station on Stationhead discusses about the Day One app
Kathleen Masciana is my summer college intern. She's a sweet and smart college gal with an impressive list of credits. She insists on calling me Miss Nigro. I keep telling her to call me Debbie. Kathleen who is blind, aspires to be a radio and podcast talk show host. She posted her first attempt at hosting a talk show on YouTube on ‘BTGS Radio' on Stationhead.com. 'BTGS Radio' stands for Blind Techie Geek Speaks. Kathleen's a self-proclaimed technology geek. That's what she loves reading about, thinking about, learning about. So I gave Kathleen an important job to fulfill her internship. I told her to go do research and contribute each week live on my ‘Trending Tuesday' show, a report on the trending technologies that are helping make life easier and more interesting for those with disabilities. This way I help her get real time experience on the air and she helps me stay informed and educates my listeners. Kathleen is also a beta tester for Apple, and she tests pre-release software to see if there are bugs or issues before a software debuts. “So, what I do for Apple, I test pre-release software before it's out in the public. And I want to make sure all the bugs are out of it. So, the software's untested. And I have to check everything, like what new features are in it. Like, for example, in iOS 17, there was a feature called Personal Voice. There was a feature called Personal Voice that was released back with iOS 17. And now with iOS 18, there's a twist. This feature is now integrated with voiceover and spoken content. Really? Yes. Mainly, Personal Voice is designed for people that are at risk of losing their ability to speak. For example, Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease. He had to use a synthesized voice from a computer program. But if this feature was released in his time, he could have created a voice that sounds like him with 15 minutes of training, and you have to read 150 phrases to complete the process. And it takes about one night for everything to process, all the voice recordings that you make.” Fascinating! Kathleen uses a Braille computer, an iPhone, an iPad and other devices with voiceover. She and I communicate by texts which on her end are read out loud to her through a voice over screen reader. As for her live debut, she did great, however I did tell her I wanted her to sound a little ‘peppier' when she talks on the air because good energy attracts other good energy! Her second report on my show was on the latest ‘apps for the deaf'. Because Kathleen videos our audio interviews on ‘her end' you can hear her doing my show on her own You Tube station. Hope you feel the good energy of this collaboration in reading this post. Here's the podcast of Kathleen Masciana's first live segment reporting in on The Debbie Nigro Show. The Debbie Nigro Show Airs Weekdays 11-12 Noon EST in the NY/CT area on 1490 WGCH Radio. You can ‘Listen Live' from anywhere in the world on WGCH.com

In this episode, my friend Sherry Thomas and I are talking ‘Eddie and the Cruisers', the 1983 cult classic film about a fictional early 1960s rock ‘n roll band on the rise that virtually disappeared from the airwaves after their lead singer, Eddie Wilson, supposedly died in a car wreck following a dispute over the band's experimental second album, which was never released. Almost 20 years pass, and Eddie and the Cruisers are back on the charts, thanks to a renewed interest in ‘60s pop culture and music, and a journalist decides to go on a mission to find out what really happened to Eddie and the unreleased album. Enjoy Sherry's and my conversation about our experience with the film—first as teenagers when the movie debuted, then again recently, as adults—and our lasting love affair with not only the movie but also the soundtrack by John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band. I should warn listeners that there will be spoilers in this episode. Ep 125: In this episode Stationhead co-founders, Murray Levison and Ryan Star speak to Editor Joe Sparrow about the platform's role as a gathering place for superfans, and what fans are seeking in a platform that mixes music, community and commerce. Superfans are well know for their all-encompassing support of an artist, and their desire to form a community to celebrate them. Stationhead started out as a kind of live radio platform that would allow users to play music and talk around the songs, and has changed its path a little to become even more oriented around fandoms. Now, fans gather around stations to geek out about an artist's music and chat about. them – with some artists joining in on the broadcasts for things like release parties. Joe talked to Murray and Ryan – who is also a successful artist in his own right – about what fans want and what Stationhead is doing to give it to them. SHAPING SUCCESS -GUEST HOST WOLF KAYWhile Wes enjoys his vacation, join guest host Wolf Kay as he embarks on his first podcast experience. Wolf discusses his mindset for achievement by briefly talking about his struggles as a salad farmer in West Texas. With the unpredictable weather, the farm didn't produce enough product for profit. His mindset plummeted. He didn't like his life with the failure of the farm that season and his most recent divorce. He told people he was ok, but he wasn't. He wanted to change that. On his road to getting better, he found many options but no clear path to follow unless it is known with what one needs help. If it isn't known, counseling is a good beginning. Since Wolf couldn't find an option to help him, he decided to create one. He built his success by starting the Positivity Conduit. His first journey into this conduit took him to the radio where he created a show on Stationhead called Sensible Coffee. There he discusses the Positivity Conduit. On the radio he discusses the five pillars of the positivity conduit: 1. Self-awareness where one learns to do for himself for starters. 2. The Triad of Health which is the mind, body, and spirit. If one is out of sorts, the others suffer as well. The triad of health works as one. 3. Having gratitude is important, and writing in a gratitude journal helps keep it in perspective. 4. Acceptance is accepting the circumstances. 5. Compassion is having compassion for others and oneself.Wolf points out that it's impossible to be positive all the time. Life has ups and downs. It's not just about being positive, but the key to success and happiness is about being grateful and realistic in certain circumstances. Wolf is writing a book about the Positivity Conduit which is a handbook showing people multiple approaches to a more positive life. It will be easy to navigate to the part that is needed at any given time. For example, it may be needed to work on the Triad of Health and Compassion for oneself at the same time. In the future, Wolf would like to take the Positivity Conduit to podcasting. Guest hosting for Wes gives him a taste of podcasting and help him with goal setting for future podcasts. #shapingsuccess #westankersley #swc #successisdefinedbyyou #motivationmindset #successcoachCheck out our sponsor The Warriors Collection for coffee, gear and more use code TANK at check out for a special Discount! https://warriorscollectionbrand.com/ Check out our sponsor Tattooed and Successful @tattoedandsuccessfulco use code TANK at check out for a special Discount! https://tattooedandsuccessful.com/Support the showFor merchandise, podcast and youtube: westankersley.com Check out our sponsor The Warriors Collection for coffee, gear and more use code TANK at check out for a special Discount! https://warriorscollectionbrand.com/ Follow Shaping Success https://shapingsuccesspodcast.buzzsprout.com/ Email Wes@westankersley.com for guest ideas or to be on the show!
I wanted to come on here to first say thank you to all of my Vibers for all of the love and getting the podcast to such an amazing amount of listens, especially for the last vibe! That vibe is at 2700 downloads alone! Y'all are amazing! There is so much that has happened. A new podcast called R&B love talk has been made as well as a new home for vibes & slow jams. I now want to ask if you all could come over to another platform: Stationhead and have the same amount of love for the podcast there as you do here(yes you have to download another app). The reason I chose Stationhead is because I can play all the music I want without being copy-written! Stationhead now is the place where I am the most consistent; however if you want me to continue on this journey I will do my best to do so. Again thank y'all so much for the support it's truly appreciated! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/vibes--slow-jams/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/vibes--slow-jams/support

This week's guests are Justin Parker and Amanda Drange of The Cage! A couple of years back I was a co-host of a show called “The Cage” with Justin and Amanda on an app called Stationhead (check it out if you don't know.) We had the best times meeting up on a weekly basis and discussing music, pop culture, and whatever else we felt was worth the time. But more importantly, we were therapy for each other and it's a friendship that I know will last until we all hit the dirt! In this episode of Fred Talk, we discuss mental health, business, failing as a necessity, and a whole bunch more. I hope this is the first of many episodes because, in the end, it just means I had a great time with two people I hold dear to my heart.
