In this episode Neel sits down for the second time with Stephen Heiner, who previously appeared on episode 108, when he had just newly moved into a Catholic seminary after having been location independent for a decade. This was Neel's "6 month checkup" on Stephen. Neel and Stephen discuss: - Stephen's frame for freedom, i.e. discipline = freedom, and how stability has given him productivity, but also another way to do what it is he wants to do - how much the Four Hour Work Week influenced Stephen's trajectory since he first read it in 2008, and why it's still the number one book he recommends to this day - the relative recent appearance of "retirement" as a concept and how if you're doing what you love and you know why you are doing it, retirement will not be something that preoccupies you If you enjoyed hearing Stephen's views, you might enjoy his YouTube channel, where he does book reviews. Why could no one but Christ make full reparation for our sins? 9. Why is the satisfaction of Christ of infinite value? 10. Was it necessary for a perfect satisfaction that Christ should suffer such indescribable torments? 11. Why, then, would He suffer so much? 12. From what has Christ redeemed us by His sufferings and death? 13. What more has Christ gained for us through His sufferings and death? 14. What is, then, our belief concerning Jesus Christ, when we believe the Mystery of the Incarnation? 4. What do we mean by saying Jesus Christ is also true man? 5. How many natures, then, are there in Jesus Christ? 6. Are there also in Jesus Christ two wills distinct from one another? 7. Are there also two persons in Jesus Christ? 8. Why is the Incarnation of the Son of God attributed to the operation of the Holy Ghost? 9. From whom did the Son of God take His human nature? 10. Why is Mary called ‘the purest of Virgins'? 11. Why is Mary called ‘Mother of God,' since Christ took only His ‘human' nature from her? 12. Do we believe that, therefore, Mary is equal to God? 13. Had Jesus Christ also an earthly father? 14. Why did the Son of God become man? 15. What virtues does Jesus teach us by His example? 16. What example does Jesus give in particular to young people? 17. Our lives are filled with limiting beliefs. Some of those beliefs keep us stuck in a rut, at a job we don’t love, trudging toward a retirement that isn’t guaranteed. In this episode, Stephen Heiner shares how reading The 4-Hour Work Week forced him to challenge his own limiting beliefs. While the lessons didn’t sink in right away, sixteen years later, Stephen has discovered his ikigai. Roughly translated, ikigai means “reason to live” and is one of the Okinawans’ 3 secrets to a long life. Find out what limiting beliefs are holding you back and how to find your ikigai in this week’s episode of Everyday Lessons Every Day. In this month's episode of Work of Human Hands host Stephen Heiner and guest Father Anthony Cekada tackle one of the longest and most important chapters in the book, Chapter 12, which addresses the Canon of the Mass. Father begins by addressing what a "canon" is, why the change to the term "eucharistic prayer" was so important, and then also speaks about the prefaces and the sanctus, the necessary bridge to the Canon from the Secret, which is where we finished our last episode. Father addresses the vileness with which the would-be reformers speak about the Roman Canon ("outdated," "superstitious," "folkloric," among other terms) and more importantly, why changing THIS part of the Mass was so very important. After a long winter's nap of nearly half a season, Work of Human Hands returns to the airwaves to finish its companion run to Father Anthony Cekada's recently back-in-print master study on the changes to the Mass brought on by the Second Vatican Council. In this episode host Stephen Heiner discusses Chapter 9 of Father's book, which was once, in large parts, a slim book called "Problems with the Prayers of the Modern Mass" that sold tens of thousands of copies when in print for TAN Books. This chapter (and episode) addresses the fact that 83% of these prayers were revised, and that not only the style but the content was revised, specifically the removal of: - "negative theology" - prayers for the dead - despising of the present world and life and mention of: - merits of the saints - miracles with new additions of: - ecumenism Should you wish to obtain a copy of Work of Human Hands to follow along, you may do so at SGG Resources: https://sggresources.org/products/work-of-human-hands-by-rev-anthony-cekada Original Air Date: May 7, 2015 Show Run Time: 1 hours 3 minutes Show Guest(s): Father Anthony Cekada Show Host(s): Stephen Heiner Season 4 Sponsor: Novus Ordo Watch http://novusordowatch.org/ Episode: https://www.truerestoration.org/season-4-work-of-human-hands-episode-8-the-new-orations/ Work of Human Hands: https://www.truerestoration.org/category/radio/work-of-human-hands/ Subscribe: https://www.truerestoration.org/member-signup/ Work of Human Hands℗ is a Production of the Restoration Radio Network. On the 3rd anniversary of the establishment of Restoration Radio we welcome back Father Anthony Cekada to discuss the recent episcopal consecration of Jean-Michel Faure by His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson. The new bishop was a classmate of Father Cekada's and was in his graduating class of ordinands. While Father Cekada shares some personal insights into this new bishop, he goes into the action taken and how it is situated within the Church law and teaching. Father also discussed the reactions of the SSPX, the Vatican, and various other media outlets while offering his own thoughts as to the significance of this action. Stephen Heiner is the host for this program which is provided free of charge by the Network in commemoration of its 3rd anniversary of existence. Many Traditional Catholics, particularly since the advent of Jorge Bergoglio, have wondered how it is possible to pray "in union with" known heretics - be they "declared" or otherwise. But Catholics don't make decisions based on feelings; They base them on Church teaching and precedent. In this episode Father Anthony Cekada walks through what the "una cum" prayer is and why it is in the Canon, why we can not "opt out," remain silent, or "withhold consent" during that portion of the Mass, and the implications for naming a notorious heretic/apostate in that part of the Mass. If you are struggling with this issue or have never heard of it before, this is an episode that is well worth a listen. We never expect to "settle" a matter on Trad Controversies, but we do hope to put out some important points of reflection so that the Catholic of good will can go on to research and pray on his/her own to come to proper conclusions. Join us as host Stephen Heiner is accompanied by Father Anthony Cekada, Assistant Pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio as they discuss this deep issue on this month's episode of Trad Controversies. In this episode of Trad Controversies, Father Anthony Cekada addresses the "Home Alone" issue. "Home Alone" is a term that was coined by Father Cekada many years ago which describes this position held by a minority of Catholics which use proof texts from Canon Law to denounce Catholic priests currently living their lives as priests - providing sacraments and offering Mass - as doing something illicit and immoral and as such, they should not be approached for reception of the sacraments. As a result, those who hold this position choose to stay home and refuse to assist at Mass or receive sacraments from any validly ordained priest. While in the early days of the traditional Catholic movement, confusion about jurisdiction, the role of a diocese during a worldwide apostasy, and the proper application of epikeia could lead some to this position. In taking a serious look at the documents, Canon Law, and an appeal to basic Catholic sense should help most to overcome all of the objections of the "Home Alone" crowd. Join host Stephen Heiner as he asks Father Anthony Cekada, assistant pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Roman Catholic Church to explore the reasoning of "Home Aloners" and has Father explain why such a position cannot be considered a Catholic one. A new addition to Restoration Radio this season, Trad Controversies tackles controversial and sticky issues that Traditionalists often have to deal with either during or after their recognition that the Novus Ordo Sect is not the Catholic Church. In this introductory "zero" episode, host Stephen Heiner asks His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan and Father Anthony Cekada why they think "trad controversies" occur in the first place and then go on to deconstruct a particular controversy from the 1990s in which some Catholic faithful were asked to sign a "loyalty oath" as a condition of receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. More than twenty years on, the clergy who were involved with this affair reflect on the matter then and now, and give those honestly searching for answers a template for how to examine other trad controversies that we will deal with this season. This month on The Root of the Rot, host Stephen Heiner and guest Bishop Donald Sanborn discuss various programs to water down Catholicism, all in the 20th century and all before Vatican II. These programs all work within the new "religion" of Humanitarianism, which has as its two central doctrines the denial of a transcendent God and the affirmation of an immanent God. Humanitarianism seeks to achieve its goals by transforming existing religions so that they profess the same creed by setting aside doctrinal and dogmatic differences. The Universal Brotherhood of Humanity beckons. Learn more about how Catholicism turns its back on such nonsense. The Root of the Rot returns to the airwaves this month as His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan and host Stephen Heiner try to clarify where our modern problems originated. This episode focuses on the years between 1866 and 1905, years in which Italy was unified (by stealing the Papal States from the Holy Father, and ultimately, from all Catholics), Germany was unified (at a massive cultural cost to Catholics), and France underwent ongoing aftershocks of the effect of murdering their king and overthrowing God. The bishop delves deeper into how these issues influenced American immigrants at this time, who very much wanted to be "accepted" in their new, Protestant-majority country. If you want to continue your education on the bigger issues that inform the doctrinal problems that plague us now, listen to this episode! New for Season 4 of Restoration Radio, Stephen Heiner will sit down with His Excellency, Bishop Donald Sanborn and discuss a number of encyclicals from the time of Pope Gregory XVI all the way to Pope Pius XII. While not intended to be a comprehensive analysis of each encyclical, nevertheless each episode will examine important points of each encyclical both within the context in which they were written and what pertains to us in our present time. But before we can examine these encyclicals, in the introductory episode the Bishop explains to us how encyclicals originated, to what degree(s) they are considered infallible, and who should study them (hint: you!). While this series will be subscriber-only, meaning, a la carte downloads will not be available, this episode, as is the case with all "zero" origin episodes, is free as a way of previewing the show for the season. In this episode of Francis Watch, Bishop Donald Sanborn returns as a regular guest, joining Fr Anthony Cekada and host Stephen Heiner to discuss the ongoing demolition of Catholic ideas within the structure of the Novus Ordo Sect, which masquerades to the world as the Catholic Church. Rorate Caeli (hysterically, as usual) refers to this document as the "most shocking to ever come out of Rome." - Francis' preference for nations to give up their sovereignty - His ideas that "it does not matter how you live your life" - The "ecumenism of blood" - Calls to the Swiss Guard to embrace religious diversity as "human wealth" - A review of the so-called "Declaration of Truths" signed by Burke, Schneider and three other prelates, which is really a series of varying rebukes against teachings of Francis - A review of the open letter accusing Francis of heresy You won't want to miss the second Francis Watch of 2019 - it's a barnburner! In this episode of Francis Watch, Bishop Sanborn and Father Despósito complete a mini-series focused on a forensic examination of the so-called “pontifical” document Amoris Laetitia. This episode goes through chapters 4-7 and 9. Chapter 8 was dealt with extensively in the first episode. If you have not heard the first two episodes in this mini-series, you can do so here and here. On this episode of Francis Watch, we will take three very timely and critical topics and have a discussion of each. We will close out the month of June by taking on three topics: 1. An analysis of Bergoglio's first 100 days. 2. Privacy and Government spying. 3. End of life: euthanasia or extraordinary means? All three of these topics have been in the news as of late and it is important to hear Catholic commentary on them.
