And So, She Left: Wisdom from Women Beyond the Corporate World
Despite her success, Jessica Cerato still struggles with self-doubt. After spending 15 years in corporate HR roles, including time on Wall Street, Jessica took a leap of faith and pursued her passion for numerology, a field that delves into the hidden meaning behind numbers. However, her journey certainly wasn't without struggle, and Jessica finds herself grappling with imposter syndrome, especially when it comes to connecting with corporate-minded individuals. To help Jessica take on these challenges, we welcome back Erin Schnarr, President of the pay equity solutions company CompenSage. Erin's own entrepreneurial journey is filled with moments of doubt and imposter syndrome, making her the ideal mentor for Jessica. Together, they dive deep into strategies for overcoming imposter syndrome, embracing their identities as entrepreneurs, and learning the importance of trusting one's instincts instead of simply referring to hard data. Learn more about CompenSage and Jessica's numerology practice. In this episode, we cover:How to network with others as a pioneer in your fieldThe underlying instability of the corporate worldThe importance of learning to trust your gutAn amazing Wall Street story about making instinctual decisionsHow to effectively scale your specialized, one-on-one practiceRisk taking, what it involves, and how to do it effectively Quote of the Week:"The difference between 'risk' and 'reckless'...is knowing when to walk away from the slot machine." - Jessica Cerato Hosted by Katherin Vasilopoulos. What do pirate mini golf, pet hospitals and a late 90's pop song have in common? All of it happened at this special place.49th Street Galleria or The Fun Dome was a unique place that found it's way in to the hearts of Utahan's starting in 1983. While the building has undergone changes, renovations and failed business opportunities over the years, many will never forget the fond memories once forged at this location. Also joining us on this episode is a longtime friend and fan of the podcast, Matt.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thisisaplacepodcast/Facebook: This is a PlaceEmail: thisisaplacepodcast@gmail.com
The story from Azorean folklore about a sorcerer who turned his life around. He became a priest, helped his people flee, and then faced a choice when his old life came hunting for him. The creature is a dirty dish towel named the Shirouneri. Like most towels it's actively trying to show you just how much it hates you. The story of Faust and his infamous deal is one that has survived for hundreds of years. Beginning as whispers in Germany in the 1500s, it grew to plays and, most famously, a play by the German writer Goethe, largely considered to be one of the greatest works of German literature. The story has been done and redone, and the phase Faustian bargain is still in use to this day. In today's episode, we're getting back to the very beginning - to the legends behind the masterpieces, and the story of a doctor who just wanted every question answered and desire granted. Was that too much to ask? If you don't mind trading your soul, apparently it's not too much to ask. The creature this week is the onocentaur...a sad donkey centaur that needs to put down whatever he's carrying in order to run like a weird little bug. -- Sponsors: Test prep for standardized tests doesn't have to be stressful, boring, or expensive. On the late Mike Singleton and the importance of Midwinter and The Lords of Midnight, his two great works. After switching from high school English teaching to professional game development in the 1980s, Mike quickly rose to the top of the industry. His games pushed the limits of what was possible, and he routinely crafted worlds that were way ahead of their time. Here, based on archival research and old magazine interviews, I present part of his incredible story. NRIs or non residential Indians are often hated on in their home countries for several reasons. Getting trolled online or during a conversation, for commenting on an occurrence back home is becoming more common by the day. With this podcast, I question this hostility towards people going and exploring opportunities in different countries and why we cannot be united as a country on basic logical concepts.
