If you missed out on watching They/Them (2022) when it debuted last summer, you better step up your pussies and get to it! While it doesn't actually feature any theys slashing thems like the title might have you believe, this conversion camp horror movie is well worth a watch. We're not saying it's good exactly — that's for you to judge — but there is definitely a lot going on here. For one, there's Kevin Bacon, a CLEAR REFERENCE to Friday the 13th. There's also a Jason Voorhees name drop followed by a pivotal pride month moment. On a new Spooky Tuesday, we're talking about all that and more as we explore the Glee Project vibes, surprise singalongs, and absolutely mesmerizing monologues.References:https://www.them.us/story/they-them-peacock-horror-movie-reviewhttps://www.out.com/film/2022/8/19/theythem-creative-queer-horror-film-fails-its-premisehttps://horrorpress.com/reviews/2124/review-they-them-is-a-problematic-yes-no/https://variety.com/2022/film/reviews/they-them-review-peacock-they-slash-them-1235324348/https://collider.com/they-them-review-kevin-bacon-john-logan-blumhouse-peacock/https://bloody-disgusting.com/editorials/3732262/they-them-how-the-conversion-camp-slasher-fails-to-meet-the-moment/https://bloody-disgusting.com/editorials/3731082/im-strong-enough-to-not-do-this-in-defense-of-polarizing-slasher-they-them/
Original release date: July 5, 2021. Actor Theo Germaine sits down with Cameron to discuss the steps of moving out of his hometown, being taken in by a burlesque troupe, and his focus on writing.
This week I spiraled out with actor, writer & activist Theo Germaine! (The Politician, Work in Progress, They-Slash-Them.) We talked growing up queer/trans in the Midwest, shame embodied as a lanky, hungry bear, the relationship between shame and surviving trauma, navigating sharing vulnerably about yourself when you're a public person, and sooooo much more. Plus, Theo tells a shame story about being impacted by negative reviews of a film they were in, which hurt extra hard because the harshest critiques came from their own queer community -and were basically the opposite of what Theo was hoping for. Today we welcome Deb from Queerstrology to give us all the basics of a natal chart! Deb thinks of astrology as a journey and your natal chart, the book. This book shouldn't have binary or orientation, but so much of astrology does. Deb couldn't find other astrologers taking the gender and monogamy, purposefully, out of astrology. So she decided to create it herself. That's how Queerstrology was born. Deb does her own research, design, creation, recording, and editing all the content for Queerstrology. She has read celebrities' natal charts like Margaret Cho and Theo Germaine. As a creator, she learns, and helps to teach others visually. Book your reading with Deb on her Linktree. Darwin Del Fabro, Brazilian actor and musician talks with Emmy Winner Charlotte Robinson host of OUTTAKE VOICES™ about the new horror film “They/Them” (pronounced “They Slash Them”) he's featured in. The slasher film is written and directed by John Logan and produced by Blumhouse Productions. “They/Them” had its world premier at the Outfest film festival in Los Angeles last month and will have its streaming premier on Peacock beginning August 5th. “They/Them” is a queer empowerment story set at a controversial LGBTQ conversion camp and stars Kevin Bacon as Owen Whistler the camp director, Carrie Preston as Dr. Cora Whistler Owen's wife, Anna Chlumsky as nurse Molly and joined by seven campers played by Theo Germaine, Quei Tann, Anna Lore, Monique Kim, Darwin, Cooper Koch and Austin Crute. The campers come from all different backgrounds. Kim (Anna Lore) and Stu (Cooper Koch) come from affluent families and are reluctant to address their sexual orientations. Then there's Quei Tann's Alexandra who faces being disowned by her family unless she successfully completes the camp's regiment and Toby (Austin Crute) who negotiated a free trip in trade for his stay as camper Veronica (Monique Kim) attempts to work through her bisexuality while Gabriel (Del Fabro) wants to feel accepted after being bullied for so long. As the camp's methods become increasingly more unsettling the campers must work together to protect themselves especially when an axe murderer begins covertly claiming victims and they must figure out if perhaps this butchering culprit could be one of them. We talked to Darwin about what he hopes “They/Them” will accomplish and his spin on our LGBTQ issues. Darwin Del Fabro is a proud queer Brazilian actor and musician. In Rio de Janeiro Darwin was featured in the original Brazilian productions of “Shrek The Musical”, “Fiddler On The Roof”, “The Wizard Of Oz” and appeared in the hit Brazilian soap opera "Ligações Perigosas" (based on Les Liaisons Dangereuses) and “Novo Mundo.” Darwin has recorded three albums including the cast recording of the Irving Berlin revue "Be Careful, It's My Heart", "Darwin Del Fabro in Rio” and the recently released “Darwin Del Fabro: Revisiting Jobim.” Currently he is working as a producer on another film with writer/director John Logan and very excited about his personal and professional journey that brought him to this moment with the network premier of “They/Them” now streaming on Peacock.
