Hey Horror Fans!!!This week we are joined by David Joseph Craig and Brian Crano, the filmmakers (and real life couple) behind I Don't Understand You, a sharp and offbeat dark comedy about an American couple navigating the adoption process while on vacation in Italy. As tensions rise and misunderstandings multiply, the film explores what it means to stay connected when everything around you starts to fall apart...and turn murderous!!We talk with David and Brian about drawing from their own journey toward parenthood, how they approached the story's unique mix of humor and discomfort, and why they wanted to center a queer couple whose love isn't in question. We also get into the pitch perfect performances from Nick Kroll and Andrew Rannells, the grounding warmth of Amanda Seyfried, and the joy of working with Italian legend Nunzia Schiano. Funny, tense, tender, violent and totally original, this is a conversation you wont want to miss about love under pressure, identity abroad, and the messy beauty of trying to be understood sooo....COME HANG OUT!!!Follow Us on Social Media:Instagram & Threads: @mostlyhorrorpodTikTok & Twitter/X: @mostlyhorrorSteve: @stevenisaverage on all socialsSean: @hypocrite.ink on IG/TikTok, @hypocriteink on Twitter/XEnjoy this episode? It's time for some more slippy sloppy Second Helpings as Large Adult Choir Member Jackie Zebrowski brings us up to date on any, and all, things happening with her newest obsession because she's a Choir Girl now, and MJ loves that for her. Then we're jumpin' RIGHT into 'Hereditary' as MJ gives his breakdown on how extra NOT to watch 'Hereditary', with many a SPOILER to beLISTEN from 9:00.279 til around 25:49.522 or so: LISTENER BEWARE, YOU'RE IN FOR A SPOILER SCARY. Jackie highly suggests the Youtube series called 'Hereditary - The Complete Guide (Everything Explained)' by Youtuber Novum, which is a deep dive into the many little easter eggs and such. Eyerolls heard for miles as the genre 'Elevated Horror' enters the chat. MJ and Jackie want to 'BRIIIINNNGGG HHHEERRR BAAACCKKK', even if NO ONE WARNED JACKIE 'BOUT DEAD DAD UP TOP (except everyone totally did, but it was TOOOO LATE!). She's also super salty Henry and Ed got to interview the directors of previously mentioned movie for Side Stories, UGH. 'Eddington' is comin' out soon and it's gettin' weeeeeird reviews, but that won't stop Jackie's watchin' it! Jackie also received a wicked box of Aussie Snackies from some very nice people which leads to a MUTED JACKIE'S INTERNATIONAL SNACKIES @ around 1:10:54.579 til basically the end, but there's not really any munchin' noises. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been dubbed 'a weirdo' for talkin' 'bout his sons MAGNUM DONG as seen in 'The White Lotus' (S3, E1; 56min, 51sec), and MJ can't keep them HAWGS straight. Jackie started the Nick Kroll sitcom on Hulu called 'Adults' and it's makin' her reminisce with a tear in 'er eye, and THAT sends 'em BOTH down an "IM SORRY" bad youth behavior memory road. Then it's time to check in on them bitches from 'Secret Lives of Mormon Wives', AND HOW WILL MOMTOK SURVIVE THIS!!??! TLC's 'Polyfamily' is exactly what everyone expected. Kylie Jenner posted a specyspicy 'Sex and The City' meme 'bout B-Ball 'cause TimTims team lost, which bounces us right into some SPECTATOR SPORTS TALK! In this episode, GG Hawkins is joined by writer-director duo (and real-life couple) David Joseph Craig and Brian Crano to discuss their new film I Don't Understand You, a genre-bending dark comedy starring Nick Kroll and Andrew Rannells. The film follows a couple on a babymoon in Italy that spirals into chaos and violence. Craig and Crano share their process of fictionalizing their own adoption journey, balancing collaboration as married filmmakers, and navigating international co-productions. They also dive into the mechanics of shooting stunts, working with passionate collaborators, and sustaining a creative life while parenting. In this episode, No Film School's GG Hawkins and guests David Joseph Craig and Brian Crano discuss... How personal experiences shaped the emotionally charged and comedic tone of I Don't Understand You Transitioning from individual careers in acting and theater to collaborative filmmaking Tips for making international co-productions smoother, especially in Italy The logistics and artistry of filming stunts that are both shocking and funny Balancing parenting and directing, and how being a parent reshapes storytelling instincts Hiring passionate collaborators to elevate areas where you may feel less confident Why directors should consider editing or DP paths for a more sustainable career Memorable Quotes: "My films are like my ex-wives — I'm glad they exist and I never want to see them again." "We just decided early that on set, we would shoot everything and figure it out after." "Directing is like being eaten by crows — no one wants all of you, but everyone wants three bites." It's not unusual for real-life experiences to serve as an inspiration for a movie. That's the case with "I Don't Understand You," a collaboration between David Joseph Craig and Brian Crano, who wrote and directed the comedy horror starring Nick Kroll, Andrew Rannells and Morgan Spector. In this episode, hear from the directors and what led them to make the film, as well as both Kroll and Rannells. Speaking of horror, Stephen King has long been king of the genre, but some of his less-than-scary stories have made for some great film adaptations, such as "Stand By Me" and "The Shawshank Redeption." The latest, "The Life of Chuck" starring Tom Hiddleston, is gaining a lot of buzz as one of the top films so far this year. Hollywood Stories is back! The Ankler pod series returns, this time focusing on untold tales from the world of TV as shared by the people who work in its trenches. In this debut episode of season two, Richard Rushfield hosts a revealing, in-depth interview with four creative minds behind Netflix's hilarious, animated (but decidedly not-for-little-kids) hit, ‘Big Mouth,' whose eighth and final season drops on May 23. Comedians and co-creators Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg swing by to discuss their silly, simpatico partnership that dates back to first grade, their own anxieties from puberty, and how they used their celebrity pull to get Hugh Jackman, Jordan Peele, Paul Giamatti and others to sign on for appearances. Richard also sits down with veteran writers and fellow co-creators Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin, who explain why you can never go too far in pushing the risqué envelope and why ‘Big Mouth' could never in a million years have happened at a network. Says Flackett, "It would have been a different show." Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Emmy-nominated actor, comedian, writer and producer Nick Kroll says he's sad that his hit show “Big Mouth” is ending, but proud that it became the longest-running scripted series on Netflix. Like a dream-within-a-dream, the GEICO CAVEMEN TV SHOW was a 30-minute commercial with ad breaks. Justin and Steve look back at the Nick Kroll starring sitcom adaptation of one of television's most beloved ad campaigns. A sitcom that would also become a part of television history, but for the exact opposite reasons. Was the show just ahead of its time? Did CAVEMEN walk so TED LASSO could run? All the boys know for sure is that it has no business trying to solve racism. Through her twenties and thirties, comedian Jenny Slate couldn't find peace. By all accounts, she was succeeding. She earned a spot on Saturday Night Live, and became recognizable through her on-screen appearances next to actors like Amy Poehler and Nick Kroll. But she still felt stuck in a cycle of self-criticism and a pressure to always be on. Then she became a mom and it all clicked. Listen as Jenny shares why becoming a mom made her feel less desperate to get jobs, please others, and “perform her tricks”. In this episode of 9 to 5ish, Jenny shares: Why living in Massachusetts instead of Los Angeles is helpful for her creative work What traits her parents were most concerned about in her upbringing How leaving Saturday Night Live led her to a major learning about success Why perfection isn't worth aiming at, and how she unlearned doing that How the unconditional love she feels for her kid helped heal her own inner child A skimm of her new memoir, “Life Form”
