Congratulations on your remarriage! How do you ensure that your finances are in order as you step into this next phase of your life?   Our hosts Stephanie McCullough and Kevin Gaines explore the vital legal and financial considerations of remarriage, from beneficiary designations to tax implications, with guidance from fellow Financial Planner at Sofia Financial, Janice Guinn!   There are legal considerations aplenty when deciding between cohabitation and remarriage. Money talks can often be the elephant in the room, but they're essential for maintaining harmony in marriage. A partner's reluctance to engage in these conversations could be a red flag. Financial transparency is key to building a healthy and lasting partnership.   Our hosts also get into the nitty-gritty on taxes and retirement plans, trusts and long-term care, as well as pre and post-nuptial agreements!   Key Topics: The Most Important Step: Discussing Your Goals and Expectations (04:10) Financial Obligations to Children and Parents When Remarrying (08:39) Joint or Separate Bank Accounts? Today on Bold Steps, Pastor Mark Jobe explains why our culture is so confused … when it comes to the subject of marriage. Many people say that love is based on your feelings … or on happiness.  And there's even a famous song that repeatedly reminds us that “All You Need is Love” … but is that really true?  Is love the only thing we need?  Or is there something else that's essential for a marriage to succeed? Mark has called this one … To Marry or Not to Marry is the Question.  And it's from our current series … Straight Talk on Singleness, Sex, and Marriage.Support the show: https://www.moodyradio.org/programs/bold-steps-with-dr-mark-jobe/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The story for our podcast today is one that we found online. It shares what can happen when the one you love, doesn't exactly love you back... Vocabulary: 1.某省 – Some province somewhere 2. 路费 – travel expenses 3. 嫌弃 – To dislike, to look down upon, to have a distaste for someone or something 4. 专科 – Technical Institute, Trade School, Junior College 5. 配不上 – To not be good enough for 6. 211 – Top-tiered university, such as Harvard, Yale, ect 7. 激动 – To be excited, thrilled 8. 癌症 - Cancer 9. 伺候 – To wait upon, to serve 10. 照顾 – To Take Care of, Look after, attend to 11. 大冤种 – a total doormat 12. 你别说 – You won't believe this... 13. Wǒ yī gāozhōng tóngxué tánle gè mǒu shěng nóngcūn de, nán de qù tā xuéxiào zhǎo tā, yī fēn qián méiyǒu, hái dé tā chū lùfèi, zài gēn tā yào jǐ kuài qián mǎi bǐng chī. A high school classmate of mine was in a relationship with a guy from a rural area in a certain province. The man went to her school to see her, but he didn't have a penny to his name and asked her for travel expenses, and then hit her up for a few bucks to buy snacks. But his whole family disliked her for being a trade school student and not worthy of a man who goes to a top-tiered school. Then one day this guy suddenly told my classmate that he wanted to get married. She was thrilled. Later it turned out that his father had cancer and needed someone to take care of him, so this guy had thought of her, his total doormat. And you won't believe this, but she really went there. After half a year of taking care of his father, this man still didn't marry her.

Like the time both of us were sick for so long that we couldn't record Catherine the Great Part 2 for this week's show but, instead, have this conversation between Beckett and Carol Wallace? Funny in a "well, that's a little different" way. In 2010 one of us- Beckett- wanted to hear a podcast like her favorite book of all time, To Marry an English Lord, by Gail MacColl and Carol Wallace, but couldn't find one. So we made one. In 2014 we had drinks with Carol Wallace. In 2015 this conversation was recorded and lived in a computer until now.

Lian Dolan and Julie Dolan are back with the first podcast of 2016.  News, talk, laughs and TV Re-caps. It's bittersweet to re-cap the last season of Downton Abbey on our segment Downton Gabbey, but as Lord Granthem says on this week's episode, "We're off. " All the fun, the fashion, the best lines and Carson's sex life on this week's re-cap. (TMI much, Carson?) While we agree that many residents of our favorite corner of England are a little grumpy this week, we have high hopes for Season 6, including rehab for Lady Cora and a break out year for Edith and Mary. Bring back Tom! Please.   Thanks to Audible for their support of Satellite Sisters. Try a Free 30 day trial at our special URL: http:///www.audiblepodcast.com/sisters  . We recommend the delightful social history To Marry and English Lord by Carol Wallace. To Marry An English Lord From the Gilded Age until 1914, more than 100 American heiresses invaded Britannia and swapped dollars for titles - just like Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham, the first of the Downton Abbey characters Julian Fellowes was inspired to create after reading To Marry An English Lord. Filled with vivid personalities, gossipy anecdotes, grand houses, and a wealth of period details-plus quotes and the finer points of Victorian and Edwardian etiquette - To Marry An English Lord is social history at its liveliest and most accessible.
