For more than a decade, Rove McManus was one of the most familiar faces on Australian TV. Rove Live helped launch the careers of some of Australia's brightest talents – including Carrie Bickmore, Peter Helliar, Hamish Blake and Andy Lee – it attracted some of the biggest stars on the planet, and created viral moments before internet virality even existed. In 2026, after 25 years on our screens, the comedian is reliving the best, worst and most controversial moments from the TV hit in his new live comedy show. On this episode of the Stellar podcast, he shares the reason he first hired Carrie Bickmore, and the strangest complaints the show ever received, plus he reflects on why a show like Rove Live couldn’t exist today. Rove is currently touring Australia with his new comedy show Tonight’s Guest: Rove McManus (Tales From The Talk Show Trenches). In this episode of Leading You, Julie Hyde continues the conversation on leadership identity and explores one of the most important shifts high-performing women must make. Moving from being the dependable Achiever or Go-To to becoming the trusted Authority. Many capable women are rewarded for being reliable, responsive, and indispensable. But over time, these identities can quietly limit influence, visibility, and progression. In today’s fast-changing workplace shaped by AI, restructures, and leaner teams, relevance is everything. Julie shares a powerful client story of a high-performing leader returning from maternity leave who found herself misaligned and overlooked despite strong results. Nothing changed externally until she shifted internally. Within three months of repositioning herself, she was promoted. This episode introduces three forward-facing identities that support long-term leadership influence: the Author, the Anchor, and the Authority. It also unpacks why women delay this shift and what courage really looks like in practice. If you’re performing well but sensing friction, exhaustion, or stagnation, this episode will help you reflect on who you’re being rewarded for being and who you need to become next. Tanya Hennessy had just begun her seventh round of IVF when she joined the Stellar podcast last April. Just weeks after we recorded that episode, she found out she was pregnant. On December 20, five days before Christmas, Tanya’s long-awaited first child, a baby girl named Scottie – whose full name is Scotland Jack Poole – was born and she was thrust into the beautiful chaos of new motherhood, while dealing with the surreal realisation that she was finally holding her baby in her arms. In this episode of the Stellar podcast, Tanya shares the meaning behind her daughter’s unconventional name, explains why she waited so long to announce her pregnancy, and reflects on the complex feelings she is grappling with now that her dream of becoming a mother has finally come true. Tanya's new children's book Sunny And Storm (Penguin, $14.99) is out March 3 and available to pre-order now. Watch the full episode with Tanya here. Your child lies. You catch them. They double down. Now what? When an 8-year-old swears they didn’t sneak the TV or the treats (even with chocolate on their face), most parents panic about what it means for the future. In this episode of The Happy Families Podcast, Justin and Kylie explain why lying is normal, why punishment makes it worse, and how to respond in a way that builds honesty instead of fear. If you want truth without tears, this conversation changes everything. KEY POINTS Lying is a developmental milestone, not a moral collapse. The harsher the punishment, the better kids get at hiding. Shame damages relationships and kills honesty. Most lies are about avoiding trouble or getting access to something they want. The goal isn’t catching kids out — it’s solving the problem together. You’ll have this conversation again and again. That’s normal parenting. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE “Lying is not a moral crisis. It’s a teachable moment.” RELATED RESOURCES #846 An Honest Conversation [podcast episode] ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS Stay calm. Avoid lectures and threats. Say what you see instead of asking trap questions. Make it safe to tell the truth. Explain your concerns (health, sleep, fairness). Collaborate on a plan everyone can live with. You might know her as Ivy Forrester on The Bold And The Beautiful, the long-running soap opera that has been broadcast around the world for nearly 40 years. That role marked Ashleigh Brewer’s breakout in the US, after she first came to notice working in Australian children’s shows like The Sleepover Club and H20: Just Add Water, before joining the cast of Neighbours at the age of 18. But as you’ll hear in this episode of the Stellar podcast, at 35, Ash has lived just as many lives as a character on a soap opera. Last December, she got married, and as she reveals for the first time in this interview, she is entering her third trimester as she prepares to welcome her first baby. All this has coincided with a time when Ash has never felt more comfortable in her own body, because as she also explains, she struggled with an eating disorder for several years. Candid, raw and reflective, Ash also opens up on how she pulled together her low-key, no-fuss wedding day in just nine days, why sobriety was a key part of her recovery, and how how finding support from a strong circle of fellow Aussie expats and actors including Phoebe Tonkin, Samara Weaving and her one-time housemate and Neighbours co-star Margot Robbie helped her to heal. In this Best Of episode, I revisit some of the most powerful moments from my yarn with Nooky — a conversation that moves between music, culture, grief, and survival. We reflect on the making of his album with 3%, including the collaborations that shaped it and the intention behind centring cultural history and awareness. The iconic album artwork featuring Nicky Winmar stands as a defining moment in the discussion — a symbol of resistance, strength, and truth-telling in the face of racism. Nooky also speaks candidly about his personal journey through grief and addiction, and how community became central to his healing. His commitment to creating space for mob is evident through initiatives like We Are Warriors and his film trilogy centred on the black cockatoo — stories grounded in mentorship, culture, and passing knowledge to the next generation. We also touch on friendship, connection, and shared cultural spaces, including his relationship with The Kid Laroi, highlighting how community and identity continue to shape Indigenous voices in music. This Best Of yarn is a reminder of the power of storytelling — and how resilience, culture, and music can be tools for change, advocacy, and collective strength. What happens when you have the ‘perfect’ corporate job at a top-tier firm with a clear path to partnership, but deep down, you feel a pull towards something else? For Alex Marks, the founder of New York’s cult-favourite ‘Sushi Counter’, that pull wasn’t just a distraction - it was the catalyst for trading a high-flying legal career for a world of total uncertainty. Before she was serving thousands of rolls a day, Alex was a successful M&A lawyer at the top-tier firm Herbert Smith Freehills. She loved the late nights, the adrenaline, and the "in the trenches" camaraderie. But a dream transfer to New York became the catalyst for her pivot when she faced an immediate culture clash. Realising the US corporate world was an "individual sport" she didn't want to play, Alex was faced with a choice: Stay in a job that wasn't a fit, or risk it all. She chose risk. Pouring her entire $100,000 USD life savings into an idea, she quit her job and, a week later, signed a lease for a tiny shop to sell the Australian-style sushi she couldn't find anywhere in the city. In this episode of Pivot Club, Sarah Davidson speaks with Alex about this massive industry leap. They unpack the "messy middle" of her entire journey: From the "primitive" Excel model that convinced her to take the leap, to the humbling reality of hand-filling 50,000 soy sauce fish with a syringe in her living room. Alex shares the unfiltered story of how she navigated intense online backlash just one week after opening and how she scaled from a team of one (plus a supportive boyfriend) to a staff of 30. Join us for a raw and practical lesson in naive optimism, a look into the grit required to build a business from the ground up and a powerful reminder that sometimes, the fear of regret is far scarier than the fear of failure. What happens when you're not just climbing the ladder, but standing at the very top? For Lize Ratliff, that meant achieving her dream job as Head of Podcasts at Mamamia, after 10 years hustling to get there. Lize’s journey is a masterclass in pure tenacity. She started at 19 as an intern from a small country town, so determined to work for Mia Freedman that she "literally didn't leave”. Over the next decade, she climbed the ladder through nine different titles - from intern to Mia's EA, to the first-ever producer of No Filter - eventually becoming the woman running the entire 29-show operation. For Lize, the birth of her first child was the catalyst for an enormous change. Realising the demands of the job were incompatible with the life she wanted as a mother, she and her husband came to a terrifying realisation: they needed to ‘blow up their life.’ In a move that left many stunned, they both quit their high-profile Sydney jobs, moved to Newcastle, and Lize enrolled in a Master's degree to pursue a completely new career: As a high school English teacher. This is a raw and candid look at what it means to walk away from the top. We cover the creative job application that got her hired, the moment she crashed her boss's car (and kept her job), and the overwhelming "what have I done?" feeling that hits after you trade a high-prestige career for a student ID. Get ready to learn why sometimes, you have to "just jump.” THE END BITS: Want more from Sarah Davidson? Check out her podcast Seize The Yay. Discover more Mamamia podcasts here. What happens when you decide to take the leap with a dream you’ve been sitting on for years? For Lyndi Cohen, that dream meant pivoting into an industry she knew nothing about, long after she’d built her own successful empire. Lyndi’s first journey began after a decade-long battle with binge eating, leading her to build an anti-diet media brand from the ground up. She shortly evolved into who we now know as ‘The Nude Nutritionist’, becoming a renowned TV expert, author and app founder, helping thousands heal their relationships with food and body image. But one niggling idea wouldn’t go away...And now, Lyndi is making her most dramatic pivot of all. Leaping from the world of nutrition and landing herself straight into her very own fashion debut: launching a swimwear brand, Fearless. In this episode of Pivot Club, Sarah Davidson speaks with Lyndi about this massive industry leap. They unpack the "messy middle" of her entire career: graduating with no job prospects and using "SEO hacks to manifest a media career", to the $180,000 investment that was required to build a swimwear line from scratch. Lyndi shares her core belief that "the key to success is embarrassment" and why it's been essential for this new fashion venture. Join us for a raw and practical lesson in constant evolution, a deep dive into the strategy of scaling an idea and a powerful reminder that all the dots (even a high school fashion class) eventually connect, proving that you have to "do it terrified”. What happens when your entire identity is built on being the best in the world? For Jana Pittman, one of Australia's most famous athletes, the singular goal of Olympic gold was repeatedly torn away by devastating injuries and gut-wrenching losses. You might think her biggest pivot was swapping the running track for the bobsled, becoming one of the very few athletes in history to compete in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. But that wasn't it. Her real pivot was walking away entirely from being an elite athlete to become a doctor - all while raising six children. In this episode of Pivot Club, Sarah Davidson speaks with Jana about this massive career change. They unpack how you cope with failure when your mindset is "silver is the first loser", and how you go from being one of the best in the world to a complete beginner back at the bottom of the ladder, surrounded by people half your age. Jana shares the unfiltered story about how this profound pivot emerged from a period of intense personal and professional struggle - through divorce, miscarriages, failed exams and the financial lows of moving back into her own garage to make ends meet. Join us for a raw lesson in resilience, a look into the unseen "messy middle," and a powerful reminder that your lowest moments can be the fuel for your greatest chapter yet. This episode is in partnership with the Australian Government. In this episode of the Black Magic Woman Podcast, I yarn with the deadly Amanda Sibosado, a proud Wardandi and Bard woman, PhD candidate, and long-time sexual health educator. Amanda joins me from Whadjuk Noongar Country to talk honestly about sexual health in our communities — from the gaps many of us experienced growing up, to why STIs like syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhoea are on the rise. We break down what STI testing actually involves, why confidentiality matters, and why relying on symptoms alone can be risky. We also yarn deeply about shame — how it shows up, how our mob push through it every day, and how we can use that same strength to look after our bodies, have safer conversations, and support our young people. This episode goes beyond prevention and treatment, touching on healthy relationships, consent, boundaries, and the role we all play as parents, aunties, uncles and community. This conversation is for our young people, our families, and anyone who’s ever felt unsure or embarrassed about sexual health. Knowledge is power, testing saves lives, and our mob deserve culturally safe care. For trusted information and resources, visit health.gov.au/sti/first-nations. The Black Magic Woman Podcast is hosted by Mundanara Bayles and is an uplifting conversational style program featuring mainly Aboriginal guests and explores issues of importance to Aboriginal people and communities. Mundanara is guided by Aboriginal Terms of Reference and focusses more on who people are rather than on what they do. Sarah Abo was just four years old when her parents moved her and her younger sisters from Syria to Australia in search of a better life. Growing up in Melbourne, and rarely seeing people like her on TV, Sarah became determined to change that as she built a successful journalism career at SBS and then 60 Minutes. Then, in 2023, she was thrown into the deep end when she became the co-host of the Today show, alongside Karl Stefanovic. On today’s episode of the Stellar podcast, Sarah tells us how she’s navigated the intense media scrutiny that comes with the job, why she sees Karl as a “loving but annoying older brother”, and what it means for Australia’s diverse migrant community to see someone like her in their living rooms each morning. Then, while he was adjusting to a new, slower pace of life in 2025, Dave broke six ribs and punctured a lung during an AFL charity game in Melbourne. In this episode of the Stellar podcast, Dave explains why getting the sack from radio turned out to be a liberating experience, how he’s feeling almost six months on from his injury, and why he is turning his trauma into comedy gold for his new standup tour, COOKED. It's been just over a month since the social media ban has came into effect and we have some thoughts on it. Do we think it's working or will work? Do we think it will have a positive impact on children & teens? And how did our lives differ when we weren't exposed to social media at our finger tips 24/7? Patrick and I meandered (argued, laughed, disagreed) our way through the first TYP instalment of the year. A little “how was Christmas”, a little smut and bullshit (as always), a little regulation tech-talk and a little fear mongering about the imminent demise of humanity at the hands of AI. So, business as usual. Enjoy.websitesnow.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Erin Holland first stepped into the spotlight at the age of 24 when she was crowned Miss World Australia. In the 12 years since, Erin has built a career in which she wears many hats: classical singer, model, television presenter, brand ambassador and cricket commentator. It’s a workload that saw her board more than 130 flights last year, travelling not only the world but jetting between Sydney, where she’s based most of the week, and Brisbane, where she spends weekends with her husband of four years, Australian cricketer Ben Cutting. In today’s episode of the Stellar podcast, Erin opens up about her unconventional living arrangement, how she’s navigated the "old boys" club’ of cricket, and why she decided to open up about her fertility journey – even while she’s still in the middle of it. For support or information about pregnancy loss, visit miscarriageaustralia.com.au. You can follow more of Erin’s story on her Instagram. Watch the full episode with Erin here.
