This week on the show, Jeff's audio is crap, but the conversation is great! John kicks us off with a mini-review of Steven Soderbergh's “Black Bag”, starring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender. Once he gives his thoughts, we gripe about filming expenses in LA and the US as a whole and compostables before getting to our featured conversation, “Dial ‘M' For Murder”, the Alfred Hitchcock classic. Our second time visiting 1954, we give you some context by reading some film facts and trivia, American facts and trivia, and then get to the show. Our phone number is 646-484-9298. It's the last episode of March but the first episode of Spring. So go find something to do outside next Friday evening. Join your local protest and help save our country before it's too late. Don't forget to take the necessary protesting gear. Water, signage, camera, and some ear buds so you can listen to RPGrinders while fighting fascism. This week's episode had to start and end early for personal reasons. To save time there was no news segment. Coincidentally, the Break was actually early to the show. We are all sure those two things are not related. Even though it's a shorter show, the Grinders try not to cut out anymore segments. To keep it short, each Grinder has one quick movie review but only one of the movies was good. Who was the lucky viewer? Did Break make the right decision my watching a movie that flopped at the box office, Morbious? Or maybe Eric was the lucky one when he watched the first Looney Toons movie that hasn't gotten the shaft from the WB in a long time, The Day the Earth Blew Up? Or perhaps Frank got to enjoy a new horror classic, Little Bites? A short show will always have one guarantee, there will always be Stinko's. It's everybody's favorite segment so it would be rude not to include. Unfortunately, the Stinkos are growing ever dim by the weak. The American government has fully embraced fascism and innocent people are suffering. Due process and court orders are being ignored. Innocent people are being hunted by a government funded terrorist organization. A country built on immigration is treating its immigrants worse than it treats White Supremacists & clients of Epstein. Even though this episode is short, the Grinders closed out the show with not one but two Driver's Seats. Or was that two Panic Zones?? Who knows, but at least both Frank and Eric came prepared... well, Eric came prepared. What does Eric have in store for everyone? I'll give only one hint, Dark Souls. The Grinders will be back the first week of April. Until then, spend your valuable time doing something truly useful. Like reading my self-felating podcast descriptions or even listening to the show itself! Oh and maybe do some protesting or something, but mostly just read my words and tell me I am awesome. Yes, I am kidding! Seriously, yes. It was a joke. Still don't believe me? Fine. How many times do I have to write "I am not a narcissist." on the chalk board before you believe me?
This week Sean talks about being sick and getting a new bed, we discuss Daredevel: Born Again, Ian has seen The Day The Earth Blew Up and Sean reveiws The Electric State and a documentary about Coby Bryant, plus we discuss the Steelers off season and so much more
The week on the show, we welcome back our music sponsor and artist in residence, DASEIN, using John's crap audio to discuss Spielberg's 2nd of 4 (at least) WWII epics, “Empire of The Sun.” The random year generator spun 1987, a year we visited to discuss Bertolucci's “The Last Emperor”, but we still gave you some set-up of what was happening around the world to add context to why in the hell two movies about empires set in China were two of the biggest movies of 1987. Dave also opens the show discussing Bong Joon Ho's “Mickey 17” in a mini-review where he states whether this movie can hang with previous episode features “Parasite” and “Memories of Murder”. Our phone number is 646-484-9298. It accepts texts or voice messages. 0:00 Intro; 7:14 “Mickey 17” mini-review; 14:26 Gripes; 19:47 1987 Year in Review; 50:41 Films of 1987: “Empire of the Sun”; 1:47:16 What You Been Watching?; 1:57:31 Next Week's Movie Announcement Additional Cast/Crew: Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, Michael Monroe, Christian Bale, John Malkovich, Joe Pantoliano, Ben Stiller, Miranda Richardson, John Williams, Kathleen Kennedy. This episode is a justification for the Stories Are Soul Food manifesto. First, Brian makes Nate react to the worst SASF episode from last year; then, Brian makes Nate react to the 2025 Golden Globes winners (The Brutalist, Emilia Perez, The Substance, Flow, etc.); and lastly Brian makes Nate justify the importance of story in a time when everybody else seems to be crazy. Kinda seems like we should be focusing on more important stuff than narrative, right? Nate describes 2025 as the year of living next to the insane asylum -- what can we do with our own lives when your neighbors are coloring on all their walls? Nate says story is not only part of the answer, it's the solution for how you, your spouse, and your kids are going to get through these "interesting times."

Hell. It makes us all uncomfortable, so much so that we tend to make light of it by joking about its existence. We can thank Gary Larson, the creator of The Far Side Cartoons (do a quick Google search and enjoy a chuckle), for providing us with some of the most humorous depictions. Humor makes hell less scary. For me personally, I was surprised by how much the Saturday morning Looney Toons cartoons influenced my depictions of hell. It was always underground, with fire, and some person in a red suit with horns running around chasing Bugs Bunny with a pitchfork. Again, it made hell palatable. Little did I know, Looney Toons grabbed their ideas from fourteenth century Italian author Dante and his epic work, Inferno. This poem depicts Dante's journey through the nine concentric circles of torment in hell. This has been the standard for how many people, maybe even you think about hell. Unfortunately most of it is not how the Bible describes hell. What does the Bible say about hell? Even more specifically, what does Jesus teach on hell? On Sunday we are going to examine how the Scripture depicts hell. We will focus on these three themes: - What we know about hell. - Why hell is necessary. - How to ensure you don't go there. As uncomfortable as it may be to wrestle with this topic, it is one we need to push into and understand. Here is the good news: Our loving God provided a way for no one to ever experience hell. To learn more, make sure and listen to part seven of Asking For A Friend.

His teachers may not have appreciated Mel Blanc's humor and talents, but Portland radio listeners sure did — and later, so did generations of Bugs Bunny fans. (Portland, Multnomah County; 1920s, 1930s) (For text and pictures, see http://offbeatoregon.com/o1112c-voice-of-looney-toons-mel-blanc.html)
Well that's burst the bubble a little bit hasn't it? Ten man Fulham fell to their first home defeat of the season, as Newcastle slaughtered our makeshift side time and time again. In the end, a 1-4 scoreline was quite a flattering one, as we had Bernd Leno to thank for the margin of victory not being wider. In this episode, we react to the defeat, discuss Nathaniel Chalobah's disastrous red card and answer some of your questions. There's also a look at Tom Cairney, and whether it was a mistake to overlook him for this match. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
