Flood & Fury. This episode, Mike and Tim sit down with author Dr. Matthew Lynch, to discuss his banger of a new book, "Flood and Fury: Engaging Old Testament Violence." Dr. Lynch is an Associate Professor of Old Testament at Regent College. He sits down and talks the VOXers through how to engage in healthy criticism when approaching ancient texts filled with violence and fury. How have we messed this up? For example, what message from Genesis do the author's want us to walk away with? How do these stories operate? How are these stories told and how are they to be received? Which lenses do we use from our seats in 2023?? How do the authors communicate who God is within these stories and who is the actual villain??? It's a great conversation with a great new friend. As always, we encourage and would love discussion as we pursue. Always feel free to email in questions to hello@voxpodcast.com, and to engage the conversation on Facebook and Instagram. I was sitting here for about 1/2 an hour trying to work out what I wanted to talk to you about today... is overwhelm. It sucked. I am super tired after a massive weekend of sun and laughter and amazing company. I am tired in a way that feels like a full belly and lots of great food type of tired... not 'this is the worst thing ever' type of tired.... But I have also felt quite overwhelmed this morning. When I'm tried I know that I can FEEL like everything is spinning around in my head and it's a bit like I'm in a pit of quicksand and it's dark and I can feel like I can't grasp a single thought, no matter what I do. If you're anything like me or have felt like this... then I'm here to let you know it's not just you, you're not a failure, you're not alone and IT'S OK! I thought I'd talk about this today and share what I personally do to combat this. - #1 is I rely on my routine I still get up at 5.30a, I do my client calls at 6a, I walk a few kms on the tready then go to the gym with my husband. Movement for me gets the endorphins rolling and makes me feel good. I'm obsessed with growing my spaghetti arm biceps and being as strong as I can be... so for me, this morning routine serves two purposes: #1) It gets me moving and gets the endorphins going and #2) It makes me feel good to know I've achieved ONE THING towards my goals. - #2 have some structure. I make sure that I do things ritually and cyclically every day. This provides me with much-needed structure so I can get into the flow zone. I follow this acronym close to every morning: MAVENS. Money Tracking, Agenda checking (my calendar), Voxers checking and responding, Email focus: get my inbox to zero unread emails and reply to all, Notification checking and address anything there and then I allow myself some Scrolling time. - #3 I look at what are 1-3 things you want to actually achieve today? Achieving things - be it small or medium or big things - makes me feel good. Again, it releases those feel-good endorphins. and do that. Then, I think of the next thing that feels aligned and that I can ACHIEVE. Achieving things - be it small or medium or big things - makes me feel good. Again, it releases those feel-good endorphins. Let me know your biggest take away from this :) I trust it helps. ---> Want my personal help with this? STAND UP, STAND OUT and help the millions of people you're here to help! YES YOU! This is the first step. And the second, actually, all rolled up into one kickass fabulous package! Let's do it https://join.nicolamoras.com.au/visible-immersive-experience

How To Use "Kinda Like" Bridges With Your Hook

If you want an unfair advantage over all your competitors, use this… On today’s episode Russell talks about what a “Kinda Like Bridge” is and how you can use them in presentations to help people understand a concept. Here are some of the other awesome things in this episode: Find out Russell’s process of testing out new material before taking it to a large audience, like the 10x event. Hear an example of a kinda like bridge, and how Russell could use it. And find out how you can also use a kinda like bridge to encourage excitement during a presentation. So listen here to find out what a kinda like bridge is and how you can use it in a presentation. ---Transcript--- Good morning everybody, this is Russell Brunson. Welcome to the Marketing Secrets podcast. Today we are streaming from my closet. Hey everyone, alright, I’m literally in my closet right now trying to pick out clothes for the day and I totally want to wear my nude squirrel shirt, some of you guys don’t know what that shirt is. But when we did the bubble soccer event and we launched the viral video, there’s the whole joke from the gold prospector where he’s like, “I paint nudes. Squirrels that is.” And so we have painted nude squirrels in our office everywhere, it’s like this big funny joke. So we have these nude squirrel t-shirts, which is like my favorite shirt. But my wife hates it. We were watching a video last night from our trip to San Francisco and I had my nude squirrel shirt on the whole time and she’s like, “Why do you wear that shirt, I hate it.” I’m like, “Ah, it’s my favorite.” Anyway, so I can’t really wear it, because I’m going to be hanging out with her a lot today. So I’ll default to something not as cool. Anyway, I’m in the closet today because I’m getting ready and I wanted to kill two birds with one stone and share with you something that I’m working on. So a lot of you guys know last year I spoke at the 10x event and we sold 3 million dollars in 90 minutes. What? Which is crazy. Next year I’m speaking, and sorry this last year there were 9 thousand people at the event. This year, moving forward, there’s supposed to be 35 thousand at this year’s event, which is completely nuts. Yet, it is what it is. It’s going to be insane, I’m so excited. So we’ve got 35000 people and I’m doing a presentation, actually I get to speak twice. I’m giving two presentations, but I gotta kind of craft it for the audience, and make it different because I don’t want to do the same presentation every year. So I’m trying to think, what’s it going to be? And next weekend I’m speaking at one of my buddy’s events. I don’t speak at many events anymore, but there are super awesome people, inner circle members, they are Justin and Tara Williams, they are some of my favorite people, and so I agreed to speak at their event. So what I’m doing is I’m rebuilding a presentation because their people are all like real estate investors, so it’s a little different market. It’s very similar though to Grant’s people at the 10x event, so I’m going to be, basically I’m creating this presentation and then I’m going to be testing it out here. Testing my material, if you’ve been paying attention you know what I’m talking about. I’m testing my material, I did a whole podcast episode about that, that’s why I said that. Anyway, I’m testing my material here for what I’m going to be giving at the 10x event, if it works well. So that’s kind of what I’m doing, so yesterday we were trying to figure out a title for this presentation and literally, it was like, I think I spent 8 hours just to figure out the title. So for those of you guys who are like, “I can’t figure out any of my presentation, Russell, this is really hard.” Just know that even for me, I’ll spend 8 hours just figuring out the title, because I can’t even start building slides until I have a title. Anyway, yesterday we finally figured out the title. And it was after going through a bunch of Voxers with Justin and he was talking about how real estate investors are kind of in the stone age, he’s like, “This thing you’re going to be showing them is going to give them all an unfair advantage where they can literally come into the future before everyone else.” And I was like, “Oh my gosh, that’s the title. It’s an unfair advantage. This is the unfair advantage. Sales funnels are the unfair advantage.” So I started thinking through it that way. Sorry there’s an echo in the bathroom as I’m walking back and forth, getting things ready. Anyway, so I start thinking about from an unfair advantage, that’s the direction, that’s the hook, that’s the angle. What this presentation is going to be is like unfair advantage. And I started going deep like, “Okay, what are other things that are unfair advantage? What does that look like? What would that be?” Because I’m trying to find a lot of like analogies, and like kind of like bridges, it’s kind of like this, it’s kind of like this. So this is how my brain works, I’m sharing this with you guys out loud because I’m hoping this will be helpful for you guys who are trying to create your own presentations, like what’s the process Russell goes through. So now you know, unfair advantage, that’s the big thing. I’m going to be giving you guys an unfair advantage. Sales funnels are the unfair advantage. I started thinking, what are stories, other stories that we know about unfair advantages? And the first one that popped into my head was Back to the Future. Do you remember Back to the Future where, maybe it was Back to the Future part 2. Yeah, it was part 2. So in part 2 Biff gets the time machine right, and he sees it, and what he does is goes to the store and buys an almanac of all the sports scores of all the things in the future. So he gets that and goes back in time and gives younger Biff the almanac and says basically, “Here’s all the sports scores for the next 50 years, you can go and bid on all these teams and become the richest man in the world by gambling on them.” So Biff does and becomes hugely famous because he has the unfair advantage. He knows who’s going to win every single game. And when you know who’s going to win, from a betting standpoint, you’re just going to win everything. So that’s kind of how it was for Biff, so there’s a story I’m going to be able to share. “okay, I’m giving you guys an unfair advantage. Think about this….” And I’m going to tell this whole story about Biff and about that, and that’s kind of like what this is. You’re getting this unfair advantage. It’s funny, when we were doing the presentation for, we did one called Funnel Builder Secrets and we went through the whole database in Clickfunnels and found all the different, we found what funnels are working the best, how they work, and did a whole presentation. Like, “Here’s the one’s that the funnels are doing the best. If you’re trying to figure out which funnels to build, here they are. This is where almost all the money inside of Clickfunnels is being made with these funnels.” So I shared that and I was like, okay what’s that like? And I was kind of thinking, “What’s it kind of like? What’s it kind of like?” and then I was like, “Oh, it’s kind of like if Larry and Sergei, the founders of Google were to like open up and be like, “Hey you guys, just so you know, this is the actual algorithm…” and just giving you the algorithm, that’s what this is like. It’s me giving you the algorithm. That’s what this presentation is all about.” Which get’s people excited and kind of hooks them. So for you, when you’re kind of doing that, first off, spend 8 hours or however long it takes to figure out a really cool hook. And then the first thing is thinking what it’s kind of like, what is this kind of like? This is kind of like Larry and Sergei giving you the source code so you know exactly how to get on page one of Google every single time. That’s what I’m doing today with these funnels. Or this unfair advantage is kind of like, do you remember in Back to the Future part two where Biff went back through time, got the almanac came back, bid on all the sports scores and became the richest man on earth. That’s what this is kind of like. I’m giving you guys this unfair advantage where you’re able to go, where your competitors will be there soon, like eventually, like maybe the next year or 5 years or 10 years, all of your competitors would be doing this. But you’re here today, and you’re getting this unfair advantage before everyone else. And because of that, think how much you can capitalize on that? So that’s what this is all about. The first step, figure out the presentation, the title, the hook, the angle. What’s the hook? Then it’s like what’s the kind of like bridges that make it like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is what I’m getting.” I look at the 10x event last year where I did my Funnel Builder Secrets webinar. I didn’t start out by like, “Let me show you how to build a funnel.” I talked about, I had my hook and went immediately into Roger Bannister and the four minute mile and how the four minute mile was broken by him, and it’s kind of like this. “I’m going to break the four minute mile for you guys today, so you see it’s possible, and you’ll be able to go out there and do inside of your market.” And I shared the whole Roger Bannister story upfront. So that kind of like bridge that bridges this thing from the very, very beginning, that’s the key. So for me, this next presentation is the unfair advantage and I’m pumped about it. I’m going to be thinking about a million different kind of likes. It’s kind of like this, it’s kind of like this, it’s kind of like this. And it weaves throughout this entire presentation. So that is what a kind of like bridge is, you guys. I use kind of like bridges every time I try to teach a complicated concept, or I share the concept and people are like, “What’s he talking about?” “Oh well, it’s kind of like this…” and you make it simple, kind of like something they already know, but I also use kind of like bridges to encourage excitement of the thing they’re about to learn about. “So here’s the overarching hook, boom. It’s kind of like this…” And then people are like, “Oh my gosh, I see the future. I see what’s happening. I see this is why it’s exciting because man, that would be cool if Biff came and gave me the almanac of all the sports scores. That would be amazing. So if this is kind of like that, I’m pumped, I’m excited, I’m ready to race to the future.” Alright, that’s all I got you guys. I’m going to go finish getting ready for school. My little man, Aiden, he won an award today, or this week. So we’re going to go to an assembly and see him get an award for being a courteous student. So yay for the little man, he’s being very courteous. I love him. But Collette made him wear pants today, instead of his normal sweat pants or whatever, made him wear real pants, and he was super upset. So hopefully he will calm down and be happy because he’s going to be so cute getting his little award onstage. I love him. Alright, thanks everybody and I’ll talk to you guys soon.

Understanding the “Pride Cycle” can keep your business protected from yourself. On today’s episode Russell talks about the pride cycle and how he stays humble. Here a few of the amazing things in this episode: Find out what the pride cycle is and why you have to go through it to learn how to stay humble. Hear how Russell keeps himself humble so he doesn’t have to go through a third crash. And find out why sometimes pride isn’t the reason for your crash, you just needed to go another direction. So listen here to find out how to keep yourself humble in your business so you don’t have to be humbled. ---Transcript--- What’s up everybody? This is Russell Brunson and welcome to a late night Marketing Secrets podcast. Hey everyone, I’m in my home tonight, right now. My wife and my kids are asleep, I’m about to head to bed. I still got kind of a stuffy nose. Monday my cold went away, then Todd and Ryan and Karen and Nick and a bunch of people flew into town this week to do a big hack-a-thon, working on some new updates in Clickfunnels, Clickfunnels Actionetics MD, and a bunch of just insane, cool things that we’ll be showing at Funnel Hacking Live, and we basically pulled two all nighters in a row and low and behold my cold came back. So now we have official proof that sleep does correlate to if you’re going to get sick or not. So yeah, you should sleep more often. So tonight we actually went home early, it’s a little after 10, so I’m going to get some sleep tonight, which I’m excited for. But I wanted to share a quick message with you guys that I thought was really cool. I was catching up with my Voxers with my inner circle members and answering them and I had a really cool conversation tonight through Voxer with one of my inner circle members. He’s a Clickfunnels member, Two Comma Club winner, and an inner circle member his name is Akbar Sheikh. A lot of you guys may know him, he’s very prominent in our community. And it was a really cool conversation. I’m not going to share the whole thing, first off, just confidentiality with my clients, second off, it doesn’t matter. Kind of the end result of what we talked about ended up being really cool and I thought I would spend a little bit sharing it with all of you guys because I think it’s important. So Akbar was talking to me, he basically was talking about business owners and entrepreneurs have success and a lot of times they stop being humble. There’s a concept called the pride cycle, so those who went to seminary like I did, there’s a concept called pride cycle and this is how the pride cycle works. So first is you are humble and you’re eager to learn and try to grow or whatever. And because you’re humble, you start having success. You start learning and growing and developing and you go in this circle. So those who are listening, you can’t see my finger, but those who are watching, I’m making a circle with my fingers. It started kind of going up, having success, start learning and more good things happen and all the sudden you get to the very top and boom, you’re having success. And what happens when we start having success, we start drinking our own kool-aid and becoming prideful and start thinking, “Man, I am amazing.” And what happens at the top of that, this is the backside of the pride cycle. So then the Lord, or whoever it is, humbles you and basically you become humble back at the very bottom, and you cycle, and then hopefully you’re sufficiently humble where you can learn and grow and start this process up again. You go up and then you get to the top of the cycle, and then usually people at the top become prideful and then they crash again. So this is the pride cycle. This is happening around all day long. It’s been happening since the beginning of time. You can see it with political leaders, religious leaders, you can see it in people, humans, anyone in your own life, you’ve seen it. I guarantee you’ve see it. If you step back and look at your own life, you’ve seen the pride cycle. It’s a true thing that’s happening. So we were talking about that, I think people a lot of times ask me, “Russell, how do you stay humble with things happening.” Because I’m scared of the pride cycle. I’ve gone on the full loop and the bottom is not very much fun, so I’m trying to figure out how I stay up here. And the thing that I know is that when you’re prideful, you have to crash. If you believe scripture, it says, “The Lord will have a humble people, either you will be humble or he will humble you.” So I’m like, okay I’m going to be humble, because I don’t want to be humbled, that sounds horrible. And it’s interesting, the next thing I kind of told Akbar was about, I had a friend that was in Mexico on this marketing thing and I was talking to this guy that became a friend later, and he’s super wealthy. He buys and sells businesses, and makes a ton of money. What’s interesting, we’re talking and he wanted to hear my story so of course, as most entrepreneurs do I tell him the highlight reel of how cool I am. And he’s like, “Oh, not impressed.” I’m like huh. And he asked me, “So have you always just had success?” And I was like, I kind of told him, “Well, twice I’ve pretty much bankrupt my companies.” And he’s like, “Well tell me that story, that story sounds more interesting.” So I kind of tell him the story and then he’s like, “Good, good.” And I’m like, “What do you mean good? That’s not good.” And he’s like, “No, you’ve cycled. I will never work with an entrepreneur who hasn’t cycled at least once.” And I was like, “What do you mean cycled?” and he said, “You built a company that crashed. If you haven’t cycled, you’re still going to drink your own kool-aid, read your own bio and believe it. It’s not going to be good.” And I was like, oh how cool is that? First off, cycling sounds way cooler than failing, but second off, I was just like, how interesting, it’s the pride cycle. He only works with people who have at least cycled once, because they’re sufficiently humbled that they’ll listen to advice and they’re going to grow. So Akbar and I were kind of talking about this, and then his message back was like, “I’ve been down at the bottom, but I’ve gotten to the spot where I’m kind of at the top. I don’t want that to be part of my story. I don’t want the crashing part of my story, what do I do?” So I just wanted to share this piece of advice, because this is kind of what I told him and I think that it’s important for all of us to think about. So what I told him, first off, from a business, basically I learned….because he asked, “Is it about diversification? Is that the key?”and I was like, “Well, kind of.” I believe in diversification in some things but not your business. I think everyone should go…whatever your business is going to be, you should go all in. You shouldn’t diversify your business. I think having multiple businesses is the fastest way to destroy your business. And I know that from personal experience, from a decade of it. So this is not me just philosophizing, this is me doing a lot of businesses and none of them could grow. Having a sole focus, you’re not diversifying your businesses, you’re diversifying the pieces around your business. Where are the singular failure points? For me, my first time, or my second big business crash was, I was running on one merchant account and that was it. So it was like, diversification of merchant accounts to protect myself, so if this goes out and this goes out, I have protection. So that was number one. Diversification of traffic sources, yesterday’s podcast I talked about the Facebook slap, it’s coming. If all your eggs are in the Zuckerberg basket, you could be in trouble. I know so many people that all their eggs were in Google’s basket, it was PPC, and PPC shifted, businesses gone. When then it went to SEO and SEO’s shifted, businesses gone. Diversifying your traffic source, you need to make sure you’re doing traffic from at least two sources. If you have a sales person, at least two sales guys. If you’ve got a programmer, at least two programmers. Diversification inside the business to protect, but not diversification of your business. You shouldn’t be doing 5 different businesses. That’s the opposite of good. So that’s number one. And then number two, is trying to remain humble. And it’s hard sometimes. So it’s like, I need to keep myself sufficiently humble, because if not I’m going to be humbled. So it’s like, what does that mean? For me it means praying to God, it means not being a jerk. It means remembering that it’s not me, it’s an amazing team of people. It’s remembering that the only reason I’ve been given these gifts and these blessings is because there’s a purpose for it. I’m trying to help other people and if I lose sight of those things, my head can grow fast. And I understand, I have a fat head anyway, I can’t wear hats. This is actually a true story. I can’t wear hats because I have a fat, the circumference of my head is enormous. I’ve tried my whole life to wear hats and I can’t. You’ll never see me in a hat ever, because my head’s so fat. So my head will continue to grow and swell, so that’s number two. Just being aware of where you are on this pride cycle. If you are sufficiently humble, that’s good, stay there. And then as you start having success, try to stay humble because it’s hard. Number two thing was, I look at all the people that I know, over the last 15 years of doing this, and I’ve seen people go through this cycle. The ones that don’t make it back up are the ones who are too prideful to learn. It blows my mind. Between Christmas time and now I’ve had three friends who have had businesses that have crashed, that have come to me saying, “Russell, I see what you’re doing. Is there any way I could come to your office and just shadow you and see what you’re doing so I can understand and get my business back up?” and all of them are close friends and I was like, “yeah, I would definitely be game for that. But first you gotta read my two books. Read Expert Secrets and Dotcom Secrets, because that’s the foundation. So read those, then let me know and you can come.” So I told them that, and none of them have read the books and won’t come. They won’t learn. I’m like, are you kidding me? I feel like at this time of my life, I’m at the top of my game. Again, this is me when my head starts to swell. I don’t think there’s a lot of people who understand marketing better than me, at this point, marketing and sales. Not because of a big ego, but I’ve dedicated a decade and a half to this right, at a high level. Super intense, super immersion, super not just theory, but testing and testing. I don’t think there’s many people who know more than that. But I also think there’s more people that study more than me. I still study because I want to stay sufficiently humble. I’m always learning. I’m in mastermind groups, I pay other people for coaching, I have multiple coaches happening all the time. On my phone, if I was to show you my iBooks account, I have I would say conservatively at this point, probably 350-400 thousand dollars in courses on my phone that I listen to every single day. Old school stuff, new stuff, I’m always trying to learn because I don’t want the market to shift and me be left behind. I need to be sufficiently humble so I can continue to learn, so I can see what’s happening, be aware of the trends, be aware of the evergreen things that are never going to shift. I’m always learning. Partially for me and also, I heard Rick Chefren say this one time, “I get paid to think for a lot of people. That’s why I have to learn and study because I’m sharing with other people and I’m thinking for other people.” I feel an obligation to that too. I have a lot of people following me and listening to me, and I need to consume and learn and keep on top of the game so I can continue to get back. Because I get paid from my tribe to contribute back. So that’s number two. And then the third thing is sometimes we need to cycle. Sometimes it’s not always because you’re prideful, sometimes you’re just going the wrong direction. I look at my business over the last 15 years, I was running in a direction, and I thought it was right at the time, maybe it was right at the time. I learned a lot of things and met a lot of people and we served people the best that we knew at the time, and then everything crashed because that thing shifted. And then I started this direction, running, running, running the best I could, the best that I understood. I made a lot of mistakes but I met amazing people and I learned and learned and learned and built this thing up and then it crashed again, and then it shifted. I look at during those times, during the crash, I was just devastated. I thought I was doing the right thing, I thought I was doing what I supposed to be doing, but it didn’t work so apparently something was wrong. A lot of times, like with me, it’s not because you’re doing something wrong, maybe God needed you over here, but you were running this direction. So he had to force this thing so you’d be humbled enough to listen, to move. And then boom, humbled enough to listen and be able to move again. I look at my life now, I look at the path, I look at the people that I met because of these things that I wouldn’t have met otherwise, that have built Clickfunnels. I met Todd because of a crash here, I met Dave because of this, I met Brent, I met John, I met all the people on my team, Ryan, and all these amazing, and I mean there’s so many people on my team, I could go on for hours. But those people, I picked up each of those people during these journeys, these ups and these downs that became a part of our team that made the foundation that we needed to be able to build Clickfunnels. I look at now, my life, I’m like, can you…those things were necessary. So sometimes you can be doing everything right but you just have to trust God. God may need your business to crash for him to get you to where he needs you at. And it’s just being okay with that. In fact, I was talking to, who was it the other day? Someone the other day, about that in my own life. I was just like, Clickfunnels is awesome. I love it, I believe it’s my mission. But maybe this might not be the end mission. Maybe there’s something I’m supposed to do over here. What does that mean? I don’t know yet, I just need to pay attention. I try to be sufficiently humble so that when it comes it’s like, maybe the business crashes, maybe I need to sell the business, maybe I need to keep it forever. I don’t know, just trying to be humble enough to listen so we know. What’s the plan, where we’re trying to go. So it’s just stepping back and putting our faith in God and saying, look, I’ll go where you want me to go. I’ll do what you need me to do. If you need this to end, that’s okay. What am I going to learn from this? Where am I going to go from here. So anyway, I hope that helps somebody out there who’s listening. Because it’s pretty cool, pretty special. So there you go. There’s the pride cycle. This is seminary, early morning seminary. I didn’t go to early morning seminary. It’s seminary 101. But that’s what happens. So for you guys to understand, where are you at in the pride cycle? Are you at the bottom, are you humble? It’s so awesome, cherish that, study, learn, grow, stay humble, and then as you start coming up towards the top, stay humble because that crash is never fun. But if you do crash, understand there’s a purpose for it. Hope that helps you guys. I appreciate you all. Have an amazing night. I’m going to get to bed, get a couple hours sleep before the morning waits, a few hours. So much fun. I’ll talk to you guys soon. Bye.

Click above to listen in iTunes.. Here's the Pattern I've Noticed 'the Greats' Following... What's going on everyone. This is Steve Larsen, and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. Announcer: Welcome to Sales Funnel Radio, where you'll learn marketing strategies to grow your online business, using today's best internet sales funnels. And now, here's your host, Steve Larsen. Steve Larsen: Hey, you guys, super excited for this episode here. I've got somewhat of a treat here. This is a little bit different. One of my buddies, Ben Willson, totally the man, been friends forever with him, actually made my first dollar online with him, while I was in college. He's the man. Anyway, he and I chat all the time, super good friends, and he had a question about content creation strategies and how to go about doing it in a way where it doesn't suck up your entire life. What I wanted to do is drop in a Vox conversation that we had about that very topic. So what I'm going to do is I'm actually ... I have the Voxers right here, and I'm just going to drop them in right here, so you guys can hear them. It is a little bit long, but I think the strategies that I say in here should connect a lot of dots for people and help people understand more about how we can produce so much content in such a little amount of time. This is literally how I am doing it. There's more of this that I'm implementing personally, as well, my own processes. Honestly, when you start looking at about how all the gurus actually create so much stuff, most of them are doing variations of this, if not this exact same thing. So let me go ahead and go over to the episode here, and please let me know if you enjoyed this, and give a shout out to Ben Willson for asking the question and sucking this information out of me, because sometimes I don't realize some of the things I'm doing. I'm just doing them. You know what I mean? So this was helpful. Ben Wilson: What am I doing? What am I doing? How should I say this. I spent eight months creating my first info product before I ever sold any of it. You know that I mean? Eight months, and it sucked, and I thought I was doing it the right way, but it was the total wrong way, because I still had not hung around Russell to realize what he actually was doing. Now, though, I know exactly how he does it, which is awesome. The way he pumps out so many freaking products ... because he has a hold. I mean, granted he's got a graphics guy. He's got a video guy. He's got a Facebook guy. He's got this. He's got this, whatever, but he's still the main creative, you know? He is. He's still the main innovator of products there. What I've noticed, watching him, is that ... so I spent eight months creating that first product, and no one bought it for months after it was done. Instead, and this is the scariest thing on the planet, but it is ... How should I say this? Dude, he sells stuff before he ever, ever starts creating it, and it's the way he rolls it out, and he pre-frames it with everybody, so they know that it's not ready. He says, "Hey, look," two weeks from the time that it starts ... I'm sure that, I've talked about this on my podcast before, so you're probably like... That's how, though, like "Hey, it starts in two weeks. Part of the early bird pricing is we're going to give a little price drop as a thank you. It's $9.97 to join." Then one week out, "Hey, it's one week away, $9.97 to join, early bird pricing." Then on the actual day, "Hey, guess what? It's actually, opened today, but we're still accepting the early bird pricing deal," right? Then a week after you've opened the cart. "Hey, good news. You guys don't have to wait like everyone else did. You can get started right now, for just $9.97." Same thing two weeks in. "You don't need to start. There's already two modules that are already done in there for you." But really, what you're doing is, so that's the surface level that everybody sees but what you're actually doing and this is how I build Secrets Masterclass what you're actually doing is you put an ask campaign onto every single module, so you know at least what the models are gonna be but they're not created yet. So on every single module you have an ask campaign. So let's say the first module was about how to drive Facebook ads and module number two is about how to talk to people on the phone, I don't know I'm just making stuff up. Let's say module number three is about whatever. You would go and you would say, "Okay, I'm so excited for this module with you guys." Sorry, "So excited for this module with you guys." Module number one's going to be all about Facebook ads just so I make sure I've got the content correctly, addressing your needs. What is your number one question or challenge about Facebook ads right now? And they're, when they go through and answer it they're giving the freaking content that they're asking you to create. It's funny because I usually go way past what they're expecting, way overboard. I have totally done that on this [inaudible 00:05:17] products thing. 100%, you know what I mean? Because I'm building stuff that they didn't even know existed, which is fine 'cause I'm going to use it in other areas, but I won't probably sell it like this in the future. Anyway, so that's one way as far as rolling out courses and you probably, I mean you probably know that, I'm sure. Here's another way, I'm just going off the top of my head, like here's several ways of repurposing content like an absolute beast. So we'll have, do you know the difference between, this is also one of the major keys, it's the difference between an opportunity switch and an opportunity stack. If you, I know you've read "Extra Secrets" but, when it's an opportunity stack, those are way easier than opportunity switches, with an opportunity stack and we're just doing like one off sales when they're, "Hey we should sell this," but it's not like a continuity, it's not like easily continuity based thing like, Funnel Immersion, do you remember that? I don't know if you ever saw that but Funnel Immersion was like the back archives of all the treatings he had done for his inner circle. So like 300 bucks. It was amazing. And on day two it was like $400 for the same content. On the third day it was $500 for the exact same content because on the fourth day it closed out and you still can't buy it. If you go to Funnelimmersion.com you still can't buy it but what it did is it let us create a product. Sorry. It let us create a product and get paid for the creation of the product. Okay he doesn't like to create content without getting paid for it. So he always sells it first and then he goes out and he creates the content second. So it's the same kind of thing so all he did was he had these pre-created things and all I did was I aggregated them and we sold it, it made 300 grand in like three days it was ridiculous and we closed it out but now what we know is that that offers awesome. So it becomes a very easy upsell in other funnels. So, I can't remember which funnels I'm part of right now, but you can't buy it on the open web, which is awesome because it's let us say in the pitch now, on the first OTO, "Hey this is literally not available on the internet." You know the back archives of X, Y, and Z is $300 and we know it converts well because it sold so well so he'll take these one off products and make them the upsells inside other funnels where it makes sense to have that thing. And I'm trying to think what other ninja strategies or content tips. The repurposing thing that is totally, I'm sure that's kind of self, I'm sure you've done that before too. That's why I like [inaudible 00:08:20] so freaking much, oh my gosh, I just create one podcast episode and it blasts all over the place on youtube and video platforms and also, tons of social medias and the blog and, it just gets repurposed like a beast. It's kind of cool because if you can get your own content strategy down it lets you feel to the rest of the world your like, a hundred guys. When your just like one or two. Here's another cool strategy that I'm actually gonna start implementing it, especially as I go solo. Dude, I know you've noticed content creation takes for freaking ever and it's a huge pain in the butt so I'm gonna start doing what I've seen a lot of other inner circle people do and actually I've actually already been doing it to a smaller degree. And that is a lot of these guys will bash their content in a serious way. Sorry, dude I'm yawning like crazy, I gotta go to sleep soon. [inaudible 00:09:24]at like 2 AM I gotta go to bed now but anyways so what they'll do is this. They will find themselves a graphics guy and like a general social media manager person. Kay, and what they do is and this is what [John Lee Dumas 00:09:44] does, JLD, entrepreneur on fire, I got to listen to him, got to talk with him, he's a cool guy. They will schedule all of their interviews for their podcasts for all of their content creation or every video they're gonna shoot for that, for the next while, you know, three months even and his team gets it transcribed, takes a picture from it to turn it into a meme, they turn it into a podcast, they turn it into a blog post, into an Instagram thing. Anyway they repurpose it into every platform that you can even conceive in a week's time. So first of all it gets passed to this person and they create a meme out of it. And then they hand it off to the next person and they get the next one and they create it out of the meme out of that one and they hand it off to the next person and this next person what they do is, and this is these ridiculous content generating machines that they put together. Yeah, they don't have to spend all the time creating all this stuff. They spend several days at the beginning of each month. John Lee Dumas, I know he does, he told us that he does his interviews the first two days of every month. So they'll only be one hour interviews but they'll be back to back to back to back. He's like they're killer days. They're good days but they're killer. He's like, "I'm totally rocked by the end of it, but then I hand it off to my team they do the editing, then they put it all together, and then they drip it out. Every single day for the next ever." I mean he podcasts literally every day that's like JLD's thing but that's how though, that's how he does it. Stu McLaren, for his membership sites. Dude that dude makes $627,000,000 a year on membership sites that he only actually spends two weeks a year creating. Most people don't know that. Isn't that crazy? So what he does is his membership sites are heavily based on interviewing experts and each month they get a new expert interview, they get a blog post, they get a behind the scenes thing. A lot of cool stuff and the persons paying them $27 a month or something like that and it could be about recipes. Whatever. What he does is he'll fly in twelve different experts and he interviews them all in a single day and he creates all the content and all the models, all the courses, everything over the next week or two and then it's constantly, it's dripped out, so it's evergreen for each person that comes in and he's set for literally a full freaking year and ... it's behind the scenes of all these guys doing all their content in course generating that has been, it really opened my eyes. To think through, like so I'm gonna start doing that because I got a business to freaking run man. But I got to talk to my audience. I try to podcast at least twice a week that's what I want to do though. Dude publishing has changed my life for that one so I can't not publish. Ben Wilson: Not publishing feels like I'm taking away future of thousands of thousands of dollar per day for my self. Because if I publish and I just make a- Steve Larsen: I'll text her to... Ben Wilson: A following out of it like, I think publishing is as powerful of a skill as... because if you can get publishing down, dude some of the worst YouTubers out there have no idea what they're doing at all but they have these gigantic followings. They don't know how to build funnels, they have no idea how to monetize anything, but they get these massive, massive followings, really, really quickly because they figured out how to publish and be an attractive character and tell stories, which is mostly what it is, it's just story telling. And ... anyway that's seriously what that is though. But that's what I've, anyways that's what I've learned. Here's another cool little tidbit, when these guys go and create courses, so they'll go, they'll go usually whatever easiest to create the actual content that's the medium that they'll go for so like, I do podcasting cause it's really freakin' easy for me to repurpose that stuff and... and turns it into a video for me as it's getting publish, which is awesome so I don't have to make a video. So Russel will film an entire module or even an entire course in a single sitting sometimes. He's got so much backlogged content that he doesn't totally need to do that anymore so well I'll just take and pick and grab different things and repurpose from other courses and, you know what I mean like, I do that all the time. That's what Secrets Masterclass is. And then we filmed a single intro video for each module in just a single shot but what these guys will do though for their courses, they call it thud factor. Okay thud factor is if you were to take a book and drop it on a table from a foot high, like what kind of thud does it get so this is an actual thing called thud factor. I think this comes from Danny Kennedy or something like that. But what they do is this, is when they go and create these courses that put things together, it's the same reason ... Anyway let me tell you the thing and then tell you how I'm doing it. Cause I totally have been, which is awesome. But what they'll do is, they'll go film the whole course, they'll take that, they'll get it transcribed and turn it into a workbook, or a news letter or transcriptions, they'll take the videos, they'll put it into a member's area but they'll also take the videos and put 'em into, they'll put it into 12 thumb drives, it could easily fit on one thumb drive but that takes away thud factor. Kay, in the workbook it would make fiscal sense to print double-sided. They don't. They print single-sided because it's thicker and you have more thud factor. So when you get these boxed sets from these people. You open it up and we all consume content in different ways. I never read blogs, I'm shocked when people read mine, I know it's good to have so I do it. Right? Cause there are people that will read it so someone will each out and say, "Hey, I was reading your blog," and I was like, "Wow I forgot I had one." It's all part of the system I put up. And, "This sounds awesome, X, Y, and Z," but like they've never heard my podcast. They're just reading transcriptions from it. Anyways it's fascinating stuff. Russel has all these box sets, all over his book shelves and what they are is their swipe files to him, meaning it's some guy who had awesome thud factor so they went out and it's this right there's a, first there's an actual iPad that has the course pre-loaded on it or you could listen to it on your computer and there's twelve thumb drives with all the courses spread throughout there. Or if you want there's a notepad where all of it has been transcribed and you get a huge massive, three ring binder and it honestly it could have fit on a two inch three-ring binder but it looks so much better it's on a four to six inch reading binder, you know what I mean? And so you get this box that's huge because what they're trying to create inside the person's mind is finality. If there's finality in the brain, right that gives the warm fuzzies to a buyer that they have found a solution, that they've arrived, they come home, that there's no more reason to look anymore cause I found home. So that's how they're doing that. That's just a whole bunch of different content generating strategies man, when it's all said and done it's all about batching it and especially if you're regularly publishing, it's about batching it. If you're course creating it's usually about selling it first so you know it actually sells and then creating one module at a time with them. So that first group that comes in with you is creating a content with you so that everyone that follows up afterwards and is buying afterwards you know that its awesome content because it was basically user created, they just don't know that. Anyways that's pretty much it though. And then they look for ways to duplicate themselves so live QnA calls are amazing, group QnA not one on one. One on one QnA calls to be sold at for a higher ticket price, higher up in the valley ladder. The group coaching QNA calls are awesome because you can record those, get them transcribed, you can give the audio, you can turn it into a video and make a youtube series out of it. You can take that and get it transcribed and put it into a monthly news letter with, "Hey this is the groups'-" dude, tons of people do that kind of stuff and I used to think it was kind of a joke honestly but it is ridiculous how powerful it is. And like there's tons of people who won't ever get on the QnA calls but they will listen to every single replay. You know what I mean? 'Cause that's how they consume content. I don't ever read blogs, I watch youtube videos and I listen to podcasts. That's how I consume content. I don't ever answer my phone and that's ... it's all about this concept that Russel talking long a Vox man sorry about this. I hope this is okay but it all revolves around a concept called conversation domination, I can't remember who first said that but, we wanna dominate every single channel, dominate every single conversation. Gary V taught that back in the 1950s there were like three different channels. NBC, ABC, and whatever alright there weren't that many and the reason Tony Robbins is Tony Robbins is because back when there was only three channels in the TV, he had ads on every single one of them. That's like how he blew up. Right, I mean that's why he's so big. He dominate, I know it wasn't the 50s but 60s or 70s or something like that. That's why he's Tony Robbins because he dominated those channels and so Gary V teaches that the phone is like the TV of the 70s. There's only three or four channels you got YouTube, there's Facebook, Periscope, you know, if anyone gets on it anymore, Instagram. Those are the channels. It's all about conversation domination so you make sure you are auto publishing to every single one of those platforms as frequently as you can because you'll dominate conversation, there's no other room for someone to even think about something else because you are literally dominating all conversation inside of it so that's why Russel publishes so freaking much. It's way more than a single person or follower or lover of ClickFunnels can ever consume and it's actually on purpose. Anyway, I'm probably preaching to the choir on a lot of stuff. I just, I love this topic because, it's a huge deal. It's a big deal. And it blows my freaking mind when somebody does not take publishing seriously because if they actually want to have a successful business, especially in the social media world, and they're not publishing, they're kidding themselves. I kind of scoff at it honestly, it's like okay. Like cool, this is just a wish for you then, it's not a real thing yet. You know what I mean like that's why I wanna, that's the kind of attitude I have towards people when they're like, "Well I don't know that I wanna be publishing," I was like, "Well, get ready to not make money then." You have to and anyway doesn't have to be crazy either, those are, a lot of those are extreme ways, the way I do it is I literally batch, I'll usually record three episodes at a time in my podcast of each one. I go send it, I get it all transcribed on one shot and I send it over to somebody and she turned it into a blog post and she uses this cool tool called SE Oppressor, which mimics Google algorithm so she can see how my blog will rank before we actually publish it, which is kind of cool. It fully works too, it's why Google Click Funnel my stuff starts popping up all over the place. It's totally worked. Just good, that was what I was going for. And then I give her a schedule to release it all on. That's kind of it. But because of... and how she's pushing it out it blasts to like 18 channels or something so. Anyway those are some long freaking Voxes man but anyway helpfully. Steve Larsen: It's Steven holy crap you that, just pieced it together. You just straight pieced it together. So I've heard a lot of the stuff before but in snippets and in little bits and everything like that. What you just packaged in the, those two boxes, that was mind blowing ... I feel like I owe you lots of money for those two Voxes because that was nuts. I actually, I legitimately I think I'm gonna transcribe what you just said and dude straight up, I would, you should easily just make that a podcast, I wouldn't even change it. Dude thank you for seriously taking the time to answer that question. I was literally what I was looking for and to the depth that I needed it 'cause like I said there's a lot of the information that's been said before but you connected the dots to a lot of things as to how you repurpose the contents and then how you go about creating the content and then repurposing it and dude you're a freaking rock star. That was a lot I literally have to listen to 'em again. Thanks for listening to Sales Funnel Radio. Please remember to subscribe and leave feedback. Hey, what's going on everyone? This is Steve Larsen and you're listening to Secret MLM Hacks Radio.   So, here's the real mystery. How do real MLM'ers like us, we didn't cheat and only bug family members and friends, want to grow a profitable home business? How do we recruit A players into our down lines and create extra incomes yet still have plenty of time for the rest of our lives? That's the blaring question and this podcast will give you the answer.   My name is Steve Larson and welcome to Secret MLM Hacks Radio.   Guys, I always feel like life's too short to be boring or not excited, so hopefully my little cheesy intros are okay with you, but it's just that I don't want to ... you know, life's too short. I just believe in grabbing it by the tail, so ... grabbing it by the horns.   Anyways, guys, I hope you're doing fantastic. Lot of stuff's been happening over here. I've been creating my offer. I've been building stuff and putting things together for the actual launch of Secret MLM Hacks, the actual program that will help you to auto recruit people into your down line. I've already been using it. I've actually had several people already been using it and it's been working, which is very exciting. I'm excited for you guys to have it once it leaves beta.   Just so that you guys know where I am with the actual launch of it. Like I said, it's in beta. "Steven, why don't you just release it right now? Please give it to me right now." Well, several reasons; number one, anticipation is a great tool. No, but for real. I almost said for serious. Been watching ... I can't remember that movie. Anyway, whatever. Anyway, the reason though is because anytime I go launch any kind of product online, like I said before, my background is in direct response and internet marketing. Anytime I launch something online it's much like a movie. You know, the last movie that I saw with my wife was Wonder Woman. She and I went and we watched Wonder Woman, we go to the movie, but before we ever went to the movie, we heard about it, right? We heard that the movie was happening. How did we hear about it? Well, there were movie previews six months in advance. Huge, huge lead time for everyone to hear about it and hear the buzz, right? It's the same rinse and repeat Hollywood model over and over and over again.   So, before my product comes out ever, I always want to create some buzz. I want to make an event out of the launch. I want people to understand, "Hey this is cool," right? Pay attention. What I've been doing over the last little bit is I made a list of the top 100 MLM influencers. Period. Regardless of the MLM, regardless of anything else, regardless of their level in their MLM. I want to know who the top 100 MLM influencers are. What I did is I went and I wrote a letter to them.   I decided that I would tell my story; so I went through and I told my story. In fact it would be kind of cool, you know, let me read this to you guys real quick here. It's actually, you guys are probably going to recognize some of this real quick. So, I'm going to read some of this real quick just so you guys know what I sent to them, because what I want to have happen is when I launch this thing, I want to have these huge influencers go out and say, "You know what? Steve Larsen's product's so cool. I want to go ahead and I want to ask my down line to use it also." You know what I mean? But you don't just walk up to some girl and ask them to marry you on the first day, right? It's the same principle, you guys.   I want to develop a relationship with these people. I want them to know that I really do care about them. I want to solve legitimate problems for that individual so that they like me; so that they go out and when I launch the product, that they're like, "Hey, I do want my whole down line to see this. I do want everybody to go check this out. I do ..." You you know, and so it's all about creating value. It's all about relationships. It's all about ... but I don't just do it over the phone. I hate talking on the phone. Just is a personal preference of mine. Whenever people are like, "Hey can we talk on the phone and chat about it?" I'm always like, "No, that's why I built my system to auto recruit people." Again, it's not that I'm anti-people. It's not that I'm totally antisocial, it's not that I'm taking the person out of MLM, taking the human element. That's not it at all. It's just that's the ... I've chosen to not take people in that way.   I'll do video conferences with tons of people at once, but going one-on-one, that's not why I built the system. That's not the reason I built it, and honestly, you've probably felt the same way, right? Do you wish ... there was a very ... he's a very famous internet marketer, his name is Russel Brunson, I'm friends with him and one day, he said, "The difference between going from six to seven figures is actually not that big of a mind shift. It's not a matter of working more hours." It's not. He said it's actually a mindset shift in focusing on instead of just selling one person at one time, how can I sell a ton of people at once? That's how you do it. You got to reach masses. It's got to go critical mass. It's got to go big.   I'm not saying that you got to take your product and just go blast it out all over the place. There's certainly ethical, cool, awesome, value-creating ways to go do it. But that's the reason I built the system that way. It's the reason I don't really do phone calls that much, ever. Phones just freak me out in general. I'm not a good guy on the phone, which is funny because I used to be a telemarketer. Anyway, so, I've been going out to all these Dream 100 people and I've just been trying to create a relationship with them. That's what we call them. I call them the Dream 100. The concept comes from a book called Expert Secrets and another book called Dotcom Secrets, fantastic books. All I do is I go through and I made a list of all the top 100 influencers. I could send an email to them. I could go and send them a tweet, but everybody does that. I get probably 20 a day right now just in Facebook, not including texting and phone calls and Voxers and Skypes and, you know, just on Facebook are now probably 20 a day. I can't handle it, right? It stresses me out, so I don't want to do that to these guys too.   What I decided to do is I went and I wrote a letter. It's a series of about five or six letters that I'm going to be sending out to them. I just sent the first one out a little bit ago. Then a few weeks later I sent the second one, then a few weeks later, which is where we are right about now, I'm sending the third one, which is about right now in a few days here, which is awesome. Just we got to finish the packaging part of it.   Anyway, this is what the first letter said, it said, "Hey, name," you know and I personalize it a little bit, too. I didn't want to just rinse and repeat for everybody, I wanted to actually create real value for these people. I said, "Hey, I can't believe I'm writing this. I'm Steve. This is totally from left field. I just wanted to pick up the mic," and what I did is I didn't just want to send a letter either, I wanted it to be a bulky package. I wanted it to be something that causes the curiosity, you know? I wanted them to look at the package and go, "Oh, that's different. Who's this? Who sent this to me?" So what I did is I wrote this letter and it said, and there's a little microphone in there; a little toy plastic microphone. It was really kind of funny. It said, "Hey, I just wanted to pick up the mic-" get it? "and say that your success is inspiring. Please know that my thanks is very sincere; so thank you. I hope to shake your hand in person one day, because giants like you got me going four years ago," which is so true.   I said, "My first month at MLM four years ago I was a bit of a disaster, but the flip side calls that an education, so, ha! At the start we were in college, newly married, new city, no jobs, dead broke. I couldn't provide for my new bride which greatly challenged my sense of manhood. To top it off my wife started staying in bed all day for weeks. I finally got her to confess to me that she'd only been eating one meal a day, so that I could eat and have energy in my classes. Holy-" insert expletive. "Lost, I clamored for some way just to make sure that we could eat, much less stay in our overpriced apartment. In a flurry of desperation, I found out student loans around the corner but not available for four to six weeks, but I'm going to die in the next week was my dominant thought.   Humbled, lost, beaten, I decided to call my dad begging for an advance of money which I'd pay back when the student loans came in. In a locked room I asked him. There was a long pause, 'Son, no. If I give you this, you may not exhaust resources you didn't know you had.' His exact words. Very wise. We both cried, yet the fire in my gut to make this happen was insane and gave me huge edge. I really didn't know how we'd make it through those weeks and I don't know how I actually did make it through those weeks, but like a sprinter grasping at a single breath, I started trying to make money in any way I could think of. In three to six month rotations, I seemed to try everything; stocks, options, residential real estate, commercial real estate, two summers of door-to-door sales, telemarketing, ebooks, freelance website building, diamonds- yup, smartphone insurance, affiliate marketing, internet traffic driving for Paul Mitchell schools, study, try, repeat.   The pros, I was learning far more on my own than any of my actual marketing classes. The cons, a little money came in here and there but nothing, crap; nothing really big, crap. Then, one day a buddy called me and said, 'This dude's going to help us make a bunch of money,' and three-wayed me in. You know the MLM pitch. Reluctantly and pushed, I joined the MLM at the pleading of my buddy and then finding out that my wife was pregnant. I was pumped to have a kid, but terrified at how to pay the cost; still broke. Ugh, MLM. If I'm going to do this crap, I'm going to tear after it. That was my honest thought, so I literally went door-to-door on our main street for five weeks. I recruited 13 people/businesses ... and they did nothing. I was constantly distracted in all of life, because all I could think of was, holy crap, how did the big MLM'ers actually do this and really make money? That question became my pure obsession.   Again, I hit the books, courses, podcasts." Just like you guys now. "In order to simply live, I joined the army in college but got into trouble for sneaking in finance books and selling a lot and selling other soldiers on my MLM. None of them actually joined after all, though. Six months later, I was back at home. Yet again, it was 2:00 a.m., class in just five hours. I started reading an MLM ebook, as was routine at this point. How do I vet out people who aren't willing to hustle? How do I get people to come to me? How do I change my bait? Then it happened, like a ray of light in a dark room, a single idea hit me between the eyes. It was one concept that changed my life and my family's. A concept that gave me the fuel and ammo to figure out the last piece, the missing link. I barely slept that night. That was three and a half years ago. Anyway, sorry to talk about myself so much. I'm glad my dad said no. I just wanted to say hi and mention how much I truly respect you for what you've accomplished and the real inspiration you probably didn't know you've been. Looking forward to that handshake."   Anyways, that's the letter that I sent to them. I sent that letter to them for the sole purpose of introducing myself. That's it. I'm not asking for anything. I'm not sending them to any link. I'm not telling them to go anywhere. I literally am just trying to get that individual to go, "Hey, this Steve Larsen guy is kind of cool." When you go ... and the reason why I'm bringing this up, is because I'm about to launch this product called Secret MLM Hacks and you all know that, but I'm going out creating relationships before I ask people to buy.   The problem that I had when I first joined MLM is that I went out and I did exactly what my MLM upline was telling me to do. They literally did not let me leave the room until I wrote a list of 20 of my friends and called them in front of them. It seriously was the most awkward thing in my life. I know I've mentioned this before, but I know that there are damaged relationships because of those phone calls. What was so challenging and what was so hard was I didn't know what else to do. There was nothing else to do, but the problem was that I ... I mean, I hadn't created a relationship with the person strong enough in that area, in the business area; they were my friends, they were my family, so of course there was a relationship, but it was out of context. They weren't wanting to join my MLM. They weren't actually wanting to actually go and be pitched on something, and it got really, really frustrating really fast.   So, all I'm trying to say in the purpose of this episode is that when you go and you start to actually try and recruit people into your down lines, if you're doing it the way of calling people up, which is fine, I just don't do that, or if you're doing home meetings, which is fine, I just don't do that, or hotel meetings, again, I just don't do those things. I do it a- I know [inaudible 00:12:33] through the system that I build on my own, that's how I do it and it works great. When you go out and you actually start to try and sell the product, when you're trying to launch your MLM business, don't spam people. Don't go out and try and ... I mean, it makes us feel ... it makes my wife and I feel- we get approached all the time to join MLMs. I don't want to join a MLM. I'm already in one and I love it. You know, that's the reason I don't try and get you to join mine. It's not like a ... it's totally a soft pitch and that's how you got to look at it for how you're approaching your own people as well.   When you go out and ... man, make a list of the people that you wish were in your MLM, your actual down line, and start sending them cool packages. Get their address, find it somehow; send them letters, send them cool stuff. Send them things that are pattern interrupts. Don't just start calling them over the phone and blast them all over the place. Don't go and ... ugh, do not go on Facebook and start saying how much you love working from home. You just started most of you, like ... you've [inaudible 00:13:40] that your home office is your living room. Is that because you can't afford something else? Oh, that means that you really don't have any cashflow? You know what I mean? I'm not trying to put salt in the wound, I'm just saying that's how it looks to everybody else. Everyone's calling the bluff on you. Everyone knows, everyone sees.   The easiest way to go about doing it, create a list of the top 100 people that you wish were in your down line, then start creating relationships with that individual. Ask yourself the question, "How can I provide value for that individual before they even know that I'm in an MLM?" That way when it comes back around, there's going to be a time where you can bring it up, and you can say, "Hey, look, I just want to tell you about it. It's totally cool if you're not interested, though." Guys, that same strategy is what I'm using on other people who I'm not even trying to get them into my MLM. That's just one of the ways that we used to promote products, because all it takes is a few of those people to say yes. They promote it to their followings, you know, people with their internet followings, and it makes a ton of money. That's the way that we do it. It's exact same thing with MLM. So, that's all I'm saying. Go ... do exactly what [inaudible 00:14:47] write out a huge list of people that you wish were in your down line, but my gosh, understand that most of them aren't going to join, especially right off the bat, if at all, and that's fine. You got to mentally be prepared for that.   Second of all, go create the relationships first. Provide real value for the individual. One example real quick then I'll end the podcast real quick. There was a guy who went out and I could tell that I was on his list, like he wanted me to join. Now, I ended up not joining but I was able to help him in some cool products. What he did was insane. He went and he bought one of my online products. When he did it, he did it for the sole purpose of hiring an outside coder, which he did, who went and on his own dollar, went and made all these improvements that I didn't even know you could make to my current product. You know, this is a side product. It's not my main one, it was over on ... you know, and he went and all he did was he just was like, "Hey, I hired this coder and he added these cool extra features in for you. By the way here it is, and also, I made a whole really cool video startup guide to walk people through how to set it up so that you don't have to worry about it with your own support team." He was like, "Here you go, you can set it up. It's all yours totally for free." I was like, "What the heck? Who are you? Are you kidding me?"   You guys, that product still makes me a ton of money. Do you know how much value that individual has provided for me? Anytime he reaches out to me, I answer now, amidst all the noise, amidst all the people that are out there trying to get me to do something for them, to promote a product, to join a down line, to buy there [inaudible 00:16:23] to do whatever, get samples, anything, amidst all the people, when that guys says something, I know that he cares about me. I know he cares about my success as well and you need to do that. You got to care about the success of the other person that you're trying to recruit in your down line. It's same exact ... more than you may even be thinking, this is a relationship business. So go create that list. Go create a relationship with them and then, after you have the relationship, and after you've provided value to that individual, then, then talk about your MLM, then talk about the opportunity.   Alright guys, that's all I got for you. That's what I'm doing right now as far as the launch. Stay tuned next episode so you can see what's happening. You can follow the launch for this thing. It's pretty sweet. Again, the reason I'm doing this is because I want you to be able to copy me and do it for your own down lines.   Alright guys, talk to you later. Bye.   Hey, thanks for listening. Biz Women Rock
Lessons From the Emergency Room

Biz Women Rock

We came into the Emergency Room with my daughter on Sunday, knowing something was seriously wrong with her.   Four days and 3 night later, we’re sitting at the precipice of a discharge, going home with good news.   If you have ever been in the hospital with someone you love, you know that it is a vortex...normal life doesn't exist here and time works completely differently than it does in the outside world.   Which is why since Sunday, I have been understandably unplugged from my normal business workings. I've had to reschedule with clients, podcast guests, podcast interviews (so grateful for the grace and understanding of each of these ladies!) and have overall been absent on social media.   Always one to want to share lessons, I thought long and hard about what I could possibly share with you about this experience that would actually be meaningful to you.   I could talk about the power of delegating…   ...because with just a few messages and Voxers, I was able to give my team what they needed to make sure Biz Women Rock was still moving while I was tending to my daughter.       I could talk about how vital great systems are to run a successful business…   ...because oh my goodness, is a hospital a ripe case study for old school and new school systems! Some that are high tech and mitigate errors (an ankle bracelet that had a barcode and QR code that they would scan anytime they took her blood pressure, did a test or conducted an exam like an MRI). And some that are really old and probably have a reason for still being used, but to the trained eye of an on-demand consumer, are obviously in need of updating (we seriously have to wait for the Doc to tell us test results in person? How about immediate communication via an online video conferencing platform so we can get results asap instead of waiting until she's here again tomorrow?).     I could talk about the power of niching…   ...because coming to a children's hospital instead of a general ER and hospital made such a huge difference! They specialize and therefore our experience was so much richer than it would have been otherwise. They had a play room where we spent a ton of time, an awesome red wagon that Sedona loooooved riding in, a playground we could go to in the courtyard and most importantly, doctors, nurses and care staff who deal with babies and kids all day every day.   I could talk about the power of FOCUS…   ...because there ain’t nothing like a health emergency that will make you massively shift your priorities in a millisecond.  All of a sudden, I knew exactly what the most important actions were, knew exactly how I needed to spend my time, knew exactly what I needed to do to and did it.  No hesitation.  No drama.  Just action.  (By the way, if FOCUS is something you need in your biz right now, check out the Make It Happen Mastermind HERE → http://bizwomenrock.com/mastermind)     But I'm not going to talk about any of those practicalities.     I'm going to share with you about the EMOTIONAL JOURNEY of the past few days.   Because all the achievements, to-do’s, goals, systems and strategies in business happen on top of this thing called your EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (“the capability of individuals to recognize their own and other people's emotions, discern between different feelings and label them appropriately, use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior, and manage and/or adjust emotions to adapt to environments or achieve one's goal(s)” according to Wikipedia).   And it hit me at 4am this morning, as I was was holding back tears as my daughter cried while they took blood from her one...last...time...that this entire journey of entrepreneurship forces us to uplevel our Emotional Intelligence BIG TIME.  That, just like a medical emergency, it puts situations in our face that will test us and that we have to deal with.  And we’ll either fail to rise to that test (ex: lose my shit with the girl who kept coming in and waking my daughter up to take her temp and blood pressure!) or we succeed with flying colors and oftentimes surprise ourselves by how mature we actually handle things (ex: not letting myself get overly fearful and worked up about anything I was speculating could be wrong with her).     But the point is that we face so many situations that call our emotional intelligence into play and it’s VITAL that we honor this and take the time to work on it and not just the practical strategies of business.       So many times during my 1on1 strategy sessions with clients, emotional stuff will come up that requires attention in order for forward progress to be made.     Last week’s podcast episode is a perfect example of this...I featured Biz Women Rock member, Allie Weitzel during a Live Coaching session and while we were working on her time management strategies, it became apparent that she was beating herself up and having a lot of negative emotions around the fact that she had just gone through a major blow in her business and was having trouble recovering quickly.  It showed up in the practicalities of her not being able to get everything done she needed to get done, but the root of it was this negative emotion that was keeping her frozen and unproductive.  And if this emotion wouldn’t have been dealt with, then no amount of strategizing could fix things!     WHAT EMOTIONS ARE UNDERNEATH YOUR ACTIONS (OR INACTIONS) RIGHT NOW?     As a brief exercise, I’m sharing with you a quick list of the common emotions that so often come up in business and that definitely came up for me in the hospital.  My hope is that you’ll take a look through them and ask yourself if you’re feeling any of them right now.  And, if you are, take some time to journal about it...perhaps you’ll uncover why you’re having that emotion and can deal with it head-on.  And, when you do, I promise you, you’ll be surprised by how quickly things snap back into place in your business!     FEAR:   By far the most common - and often hidden - emotion in business!  Fear can look like…   I’m afraid I won’t make the money I need to make I’m afraid I’ll look stupid trying to sell my products/service I’m afraid I’m not as good as “she” is I’m afraid I’m not good enough I’m afraid I’ll fail I’m afraid my clients won’t be satisfied I’m afraid I’ll make that painful mistake again   The tricky thing about fear is that it often isn’t obvious to us until we really do some digging.  Some triggers to know if fear is really what is underneath everything could be…   You keep putting off launching something (and have perfectly good excuses as to why) You refuse to hire help even though you desperately need it You are stop and go with your marketing because you want to do it “perfectly” You are not doing something you know you need to do in your biz (creating a funnel, investing in a program, coaching or a mastermind, growing into a new market, etc) You are “in a rut” and can’t get out     If you’re nodding your head at any of these, take some time to write in your journal about it and see where fear may be the root of what’s holding you back in your biz!     ANGER:   Especially if you’re someone like me who really enjoys being positive and friendly, it may feel strange to be really ANGRY.  Which means that you may not want to identify it if it’s there.  A few weeks ago, I kept blowing up at my husband (poor guy).  Yelling at him for the tiniest little things and even silently judging and cursing at him if he wasn’t doing exactly what I would want him to do.  I was also getting SO frustrated so easily with everything I was attempting to do in my biz.  If I couldn’t get an email out as fast as I wanted, I would blow up.  If I didn’t have my entire program fill up the moment I started marketing, I was livid.  If I didn’t get everything done I really wanted to, I was filled with anger.  I was ridiculously uncomfortable with this anger and I finally realized it was stunting everything for me.  So, I went to my journal and just started writing “I’m angry because…” and wrote 8 pages of all the things that pissed me off.  This process allowed me a safe space to BE ANGRY and have it be okay.  It also took the sting out of all those things because I was able to get it out of me.  And, ultimately, it helped give me clarity on what was actually going on (there were 2 or 3 things I actually was legitimately angry about) and it gave me an opportunity to deal with them.  And because of this exercise, I stopped yelling at my hubs and gave him a giant apology ;).  (Have I mentioned he’s a big fan of me journaling? lol!).     So, is there something you’re angry about?  Take a good look at it and spend some time letting yourself be angry.  Watch how doing that allows everything else to move right back into its groove.       OVERWHELM:   Okay, so this isn’t a legitimate “feeling,” but it is something that so many biz women feel very often that can negatively impact our growth, so I believe it’s worth noting.  Overwhelm comes when there’s too much in front of us.  Too much opportunity.  Too much to do.  Too much responsibility.  Too much information.     It freezes us.  It stops us.  And generally speaking, it spirals us down into feeling isolated, depressed and disheartened.     And our business suffers big time.     I had to work really hard at staying out of overwhelm while we were in the hospital.  Every time they ran a test, new results would come back that would take us in a different direction with a new set of possible reasons we were here in the first place.  My mind quickly wanted to skip ahead into the possible diagnoses, which would flood my mind with statistics, solutions and causes that would immediately got my heart beating fast while worry and stress took over.  It was too much and I had to quickly reel myself back into the moment.     When you’re feeling overwhelmed, here are a few hacks to get out of it fast.   Talk to someone.  Download what’s going on in your mind onto a trusted friend, colleague or family member.  The act of talking it out will help you make sense of everything and deflate the feeling of pressure from your thoughts.     Journal.  Write down what you’re feeling and why you’re overwhelmed.  It will give you that same sense of relief as talking to someone.   Write down your #1 priority.  Ask yourself what is the ONE THING that is most important for you to do and write it down.  Nothing else.  And then go to work getting that one thing done.  That’s it.     Write a brain dump of the to-do’s in your head.  I’m not a huge advocate of a giant “to-do list,” but sometimes, getting all those thoughts or ideas or action items down on paper helps you feel like you’ve gotten ahold of them and it’s a great starting point for you to then prioritize your activities.     Be present and focus on the next best step.  Stop thinking about the big picture and be present in the moment.  Just focus on the next thing you need to think about.  That’s it.       JOY:   Holding my baby girl when we walked into our house for the first time in 4 days so I could put her in her own bed for a restful nap...that was pure joy!   Getting the first person to commit to the Make It Happen Mastermind and squealing in delight because I knew it was exactly what she has been craving to help her achieve her goals...that was incredibly joyful!   Helping a client during a strategy session create a business model that made perfect sense for everything she’s been building...total joy!   Getting on a Facebook Live and talking back and forth with you...pure joy!   We feel JOY a LOT.  Yet, as a direct contrast to these other emotions, we tend to let the feeling come up and then quickly move on, not giving joy the full amount of attention it deserves.     The most important thing to understand about the emotion of JOY is that it is the fountain of youth for your business!  It keeps you young and vibrant and excited about your mission.  The more you feel it, the more refreshed energy you bring to your tasks, the more positivity you bring to your day, the more creativity and inspiration surround you!     So, your job is to recognize joy, accentuate it and create MORE of it!   How have you felt joy in your business lately?  My guess is that if you make a list of all the moments of joy, you’ll be surprised by how many things you write down.  It may be a great way to get into a place of gratitude that will fuel your business into the stratosphere!!!       There is no escaping the emotions that are the foundation of our entire business workings.  And if we try...if we try to ignore fear or anger or overwhelm or joy and just work on strategy, then we’ve done ourselves and our business a giant disservice.     It’s only when we understand that this entire business journey is one with our emotional and personal development that we can start to really make some massive moves towards our visions!     PS: The above post was written the day we got home from the hospital.  I’m happy to share that my daughter is doing GREAT and playing around like the energetic toddler she is!  Thank you SO MUCH for your thoughts and prayers and good energies sent our way!       PPS: If hearing about the Make It Happen Mastermind perked your ears, find out more about it HERE (http://bizwomenrock.com/mastermind)...it’s the perfect combination of structure, accountability, support, strategies and ideas you need to ensure you blow your 2017 goals out of the water!

Your real mission is to gather people and serve them at your highest level. On today's episode Russell talks about having a gathering and how you build one. He shares the kinds of gatherings he already has, and how gathering gatherers can help build your business. Here are some of the cool things in today's episode: The different examples of gatherings you and your people can be a part of. And how what you are doing has an impact on someone else's life, which in turn has an impact on someone else's live and you have the ability to impact many more lives than you originally could. So listen below to find out how to gather and impact more people than you ever thought possible. ---Transcript--- Hey everyone, good morning. This is Russell and I am heading to, not the worst place I can go in the morning. The worst place would be probably the accountants, they're definitely the worst. Number two used to be lawyers, but my lawyer now is super awesome, so that's cool. Number three is the dentist, so I'm heading to the dentist right now, which is not my favorite thing, but it's that time. I got some weird thing on the left side of my mouth when I bite down. It really hurts, so hopefully they can fix that and I hope I don't have any cavities, but I'll let you guys know. But this morning, I woke up and had a coaching session with one of my coaches, Tara Williams, which was really, really cool. She said something that I thought was cool and it got my mind thinking and then more and more cool stuff started happening. But we're talking about the new book, and if I'm being completely honest there's a lot of stress and pressure on me right now. Even though the book's finally done, there's…of course I can't just sell a book you guys. I got all excited and had this idea for this Funnel Hacker Blackbox, which then meant I had a whole bunch of other stuff. And then there's a bunch of….anyway, a lot of stuff going together to make this, I want to make this buying experience when you guys buy the book, the most fun thing ever. I want you to be like, “that was so fun we should buy it again.” That's the goal. So with that we're just making a really cool funnel that would be really cool for you guys to funnel hack and then watch and learn and really hopefully model and use in your world. But we're talking, oh I almost turned left and I'm glad I didn't because there is insane traffic, and I'm already late for the dentist, so that was close. But what we were talking about is gathering. What we do is we're gathering people. So I think about each of your businesses, we talked about this from a list building standpoint, or from getting customers or things like that. Or I'd be putting products and services out there in the world. And you're doing that to gather certain types of people to you. That's the whole point of what we're all doing. We create some amazing things that cause value in the world and in people's lives. They get those things and then they gather to you. Ten year ago those gatherings were like, “Okay, well people are on my email list.” But there was no physical gathering. Then we started doing events and there was kind of a physical gathering of people. Now, I look at facebook groups and it's become kind of like the gathering spot. Most programs have a facebook group. We have that, we have our Funnel Hacker Group, which is all of you all. If you're not in that by the way, you should come. We've got 50,000 people in that now. 50,000, if you go to projectclickfunnels.com it redirects you to our facebook group. Because I couldn't remember how to get people there, so I bought projectclickfunnels.com. But there's 50,000 people gathered there together talking about what we're all talking about. And then there's, for different products we sell, like Inner Circle's got a different group. People are gathered together. We communicate and hang out in this group. So we're gathering. So for each of you guys, that's kind of big piece of this pie. How are you gathering people together so that then when they're together and they're congregated together, you can serve them in the highest way that you are able to. Those are your products and services and training and podcasts, and coaching and blah. Supplements, whatever it is you're selling, that's really the goal. Businesses become less transactional and is now more gathering people and figuring out how to serve them. That mindset shift is pretty big. There's these gatherings and what was kind of cool. We were talking about, with the Expert Secrets book we're gathering. That's, I didn't know this was my goal, but what's interesting, and even with the Funnel Hackers and Clickfunnels and stuff, I am gathering gatherers, which is super cool when you think about it. My goal is to gather all these people together and get them to start mass movements. That's the whole point of the new book. How to build your own movement of people you can change and inspire and help and serve.  So that's my goal, is to gather all the gatherers, which is insanely cool and a huge honor. As I'm just thinking about that as a calling or a mission or whatever you want to call it. It's a pretty cool thing. My job is to serve you guys so that you can gather more people and serve them. And hopefully during this whole process we have a little bit of impact on the world and we change people's lives and we make things better and give people hope and faith in the future and what's possible and make everyone's journey's here on the world a little bit better. It was interesting, I heard someone talk about this before. Tony Robbins at our event was talking about why we all do what we do. He said, “When it all comes down to it. We're doing it for feeling.” I was like, huh. How weird is that? We read books because the feeling, we watch a movie because of the feeling, we hang out with people because of the feeling we get. Feelings is what drives everything. It's the feeling that we're seeking, that we're trying to get. A certain feeling we liked in the past, or that we didn't like, we're trying to stay away from that feeling. And I'm not sure how this whole thing ties together, but when all is said and done, our goal is to gather people together so we can help them to feel good. I know that's simplifying, way over simplifying the whole thing. Or is it? That's kind of the thing. Why do I gather all of you guys together? I'll say guys and gals. Why do I gather you guys together? Obviously there's something I'm excited about and I'm sharing it. And it's a tool and a theology and thought process that helps you be able to share your messages. By me sharing it, I feel better. I feel happy. It makes me, it gets me excited, being able to share these things and seeing the light bulb go off in your heads. But then you gather people and you're not necessarily teaching what I'm teaching. But you're teaching your own thing. Maybe it's weight loss or fitness, I guess weight loss and fitness are similar. But whatever it is that you do, you're gathering people together and selling them products and services that make them feel good.  And that's kind of it. If you really boil it down. Anyway, I thought that was interesting. I just started thinking about that. How do we give people those good feelings? How do we make support better so that people have good feelings when they deal with it? How do make the product better so they have better feelings? It's all about feelings, that's what we're all looking for. That's why people fall in love, that's why they do drugs, on the positive and negative side, they're all looking to get a special feeling or to stay away from a feeling they don't like. Anyway, I thought that was interesting. I don't really know the point of my ramblings today other than I thought it was really cool to kind of look at this as each of us are gatherers. You're gathering people. You're gathering your tribe. You're gathering your people that resonate with you and your message and who you are. And then after you've gathered them, you can serve them, help them and you can try to effect their lives by making them have better feelings. Feeling better about themselves and things around them, about the future and all those things. What's interesting is that when people are happy they treat other people better, it's this huge compounding thing. It's like a ripple, I hate using that because if you guys listened to the podcast back from day one, back when we were working on the project Rippln, but it never went. That was the whole concept. Throw a rock into the middle of a pond, what happens? There's a ripple and it keeps going all the way out to the edge of the pond. And that's kind of what we're doing. We're gathering people together, give them this ripple in their lives and it goes out. It's kind of corny when you say, “We're going to change the world.” But we kind of are. Isn't that cool when you think about it that way? The thing you're doing has an impact and it changes somebody else's life and it changes somebody else's and it kind of ripples out. So anyway, with that said, I just wanted to state that everyone keep on doing what you're doing despite some of the pressure and stress and things that go into it. The ups and downs and failures and successes. All of those things are all wrapped into it. When all is said and done, what's the real purpose? We're gathering our people. Gather your people, they will come to you, the right people. And not everyone's going to come to you or me or anyone, there's people who can't stand me. Especially after some of my fun jokes and stuff recently. There's a lot of people who don't like me. That's cool. I don't mind. It used to bug me, but it's okay now. Because what is important, is my people, the people I am congregating will hear my voice, come to me and listen and I'll be able to have impact and hopefully cause a change and make their lives better. Like I said, my goal is to gather gatherers, and I think what fires me up more than anything is knowing that if I can affect you and help you gather more people, or serve more people at a higher level, if I can affect you and again, I'm not talking to everyone listening to this podcast, I'm talking to you. Yes, you the one listening right now. If I can affect you, to help people and to cause that gathering amongst your people, how cool is that? There's thousands or millions of people that you can affect, that I never could. Because my gifts aren't what yours are. But your gifts are special. And I don't want to, I think I might have bragged them yesterday because I'm so excited about it. But Brandon and Kaelin from Inner Circle, their numbers are insane right now. They're getting 500 people a day joining their program. 500 women a day are coming and they're helping these women look at themselves differently and lose weight and feel better. And usually what happens, I don't know about you, but when I get on a weight loss kick, what do I do? I tell my friends and family and spouse and kids and we all, it's a ripple effect that goes out there. And I can't do what Kaelin does. I can't do what Tara does. I can't do what….I'm trying to think of everyone in my inner circle. All the people we effect in the work, I can't do what you do. But if I can help you gather more people and serve them at a higher level, that's the key. That's my mission. Anyway, I thought that was kind of cool. I hope it helps you think about what you do a little bit.  And understand that that's the goal, gather your people and that could be through building a list, podcasts, groups, whatever it is, you're gathering people together and you're trying to serve them at the highest level possible. That's it, that's the game. When you do that, they're going to feel good. And when they feel good, people around them will feel good and it'll trickle down. Kind of cool. Anyway, I'm getting close to the dentist, but I'm still stuck in a lot of traffic, but I'm going to bounce, cause I am behind on my Voxers and my inner circle members need some responses, dang it. So I'm going to go catch up with them. Appreciate you all and we will talk soon.

The Gathering

Marketing Secrets (2017)

Your real mission is to gather people and serve them at your highest level. On today’s episode Russell talks about having a gathering and how you build one. He shares the kinds of gatherings he already has, and how gathering gatherers can help build your business. Here are some of the cool things in today’s episode: The different examples of gatherings you and your people can be a part of. And how what you are doing has an impact on someone else’s life, which in turn has an impact on someone else’s live and you have the ability to impact many more lives than you originally could. So listen below to find out how to gather and impact more people than you ever thought possible. ---Transcript--- Hey everyone, good morning. This is Russell and I am heading to, not the worst place I can go in the morning. The worst place would be probably the accountants, they’re definitely the worst. Number two used to be lawyers, but my lawyer now is super awesome, so that’s cool. Number three is the dentist, so I’m heading to the dentist right now, which is not my favorite thing, but it’s that time. I got some weird thing on the left side of my mouth when I bite down. It really hurts, so hopefully they can fix that and I hope I don’t have any cavities, but I’ll let you guys know. But this morning, I woke up and had a coaching session with one of my coaches, Tara Williams, which was really, really cool. She said something that I thought was cool and it got my mind thinking and then more and more cool stuff started happening. But we’re talking about the new book, and if I’m being completely honest there’s a lot of stress and pressure on me right now. Even though the book’s finally done, there’s…of course I can’t just sell a book you guys. I got all excited and had this idea for this Funnel Hacker Blackbox, which then meant I had a whole bunch of other stuff. And then there’s a bunch of….anyway, a lot of stuff going together to make this, I want to make this buying experience when you guys buy the book, the most fun thing ever. I want you to be like, “that was so fun we should buy it again.” That’s the goal. So with that we’re just making a really cool funnel that would be really cool for you guys to funnel hack and then watch and learn and really hopefully model and use in your world. But we’re talking, oh I almost turned left and I’m glad I didn’t because there is insane traffic, and I’m already late for the dentist, so that was close. But what we were talking about is gathering. What we do is we’re gathering people. So I think about each of your businesses, we talked about this from a list building standpoint, or from getting customers or things like that. Or I’d be putting products and services out there in the world. And you’re doing that to gather certain types of people to you. That’s the whole point of what we’re all doing. We create some amazing things that cause value in the world and in people’s lives. They get those things and then they gather to you. Ten year ago those gatherings were like, “Okay, well people are on my email list.” But there was no physical gathering. Then we started doing events and there was kind of a physical gathering of people. Now, I look at facebook groups and it’s become kind of like the gathering spot. Most programs have a facebook group. We have that, we have our Funnel Hacker Group, which is all of you all. If you’re not in that by the way, you should come. We’ve got 50,000 people in that now. 50,000, if you go to projectclickfunnels.com it redirects you to our facebook group. Because I couldn’t remember how to get people there, so I bought projectclickfunnels.com. But there’s 50,000 people gathered there together talking about what we’re all talking about. And then there’s, for different products we sell, like Inner Circle’s got a different group. People are gathered together. We communicate and hang out in this group. So we’re gathering. So for each of you guys, that’s kind of big piece of this pie. How are you gathering people together so that then when they’re together and they’re congregated together, you can serve them in the highest way that you are able to. Those are your products and services and training and podcasts, and coaching and blah. Supplements, whatever it is you’re selling, that’s really the goal. Businesses become less transactional and is now more gathering people and figuring out how to serve them. That mindset shift is pretty big. There’s these gatherings and what was kind of cool. We were talking about, with the Expert Secrets book we’re gathering. That’s, I didn’t know this was my goal, but what’s interesting, and even with the Funnel Hackers and Clickfunnels and stuff, I am gathering gatherers, which is super cool when you think about it. My goal is to gather all these people together and get them to start mass movements. That’s the whole point of the new book. How to build your own movement of people you can change and inspire and help and serve.  So that’s my goal, is to gather all the gatherers, which is insanely cool and a huge honor. As I’m just thinking about that as a calling or a mission or whatever you want to call it. It’s a pretty cool thing. My job is to serve you guys so that you can gather more people and serve them. And hopefully during this whole process we have a little bit of impact on the world and we change people’s lives and we make things better and give people hope and faith in the future and what’s possible and make everyone’s journey’s here on the world a little bit better. It was interesting, I heard someone talk about this before. Tony Robbins at our event was talking about why we all do what we do. He said, “When it all comes down to it. We’re doing it for feeling.” I was like, huh. How weird is that? We read books because the feeling, we watch a movie because of the feeling, we hang out with people because of the feeling we get. Feelings is what drives everything. It’s the feeling that we’re seeking, that we’re trying to get. A certain feeling we liked in the past, or that we didn’t like, we’re trying to stay away from that feeling. And I’m not sure how this whole thing ties together, but when all is said and done, our goal is to gather people together so we can help them to feel good. I know that’s simplifying, way over simplifying the whole thing. Or is it? That’s kind of the thing. Why do I gather all of you guys together? I’ll say guys and gals. Why do I gather you guys together? Obviously there’s something I’m excited about and I’m sharing it. And it’s a tool and a theology and thought process that helps you be able to share your messages. By me sharing it, I feel better. I feel happy. It makes me, it gets me excited, being able to share these things and seeing the light bulb go off in your heads. But then you gather people and you’re not necessarily teaching what I’m teaching. But you’re teaching your own thing. Maybe it’s weight loss or fitness, I guess weight loss and fitness are similar. But whatever it is that you do, you’re gathering people together and selling them products and services that make them feel good.  And that’s kind of it. If you really boil it down. Anyway, I thought that was interesting. I just started thinking about that. How do we give people those good feelings? How do we make support better so that people have good feelings when they deal with it? How do make the product better so they have better feelings? It’s all about feelings, that’s what we’re all looking for. That’s why people fall in love, that’s why they do drugs, on the positive and negative side, they’re all looking to get a special feeling or to stay away from a feeling they don’t like. Anyway, I thought that was interesting. I don’t really know the point of my ramblings today other than I thought it was really cool to kind of look at this as each of us are gatherers. Marketing In Your Car

The daily template I built out this week to help maximize world domination. On today's episode Russell talks about making a template of a calendar that he's going to stick to this week. You will get to hear what his week will be like as he goes through his hour by hour plans. Here are some cool things you will hear in this episode: What activity is exciting enough to get Russell out of bed at 5 am. Find out how he is able to focus and move forward on projects for 6 hours everyday. And see how often he and his wife get to enjoy a date night. So listen below to hear how Russell is going to spend his week and why it would be beneficial for everyone to have a strict schedule. ---Transcript--- Hey everyone, good morning, this is Russell and today's the first day of school so today is a back to school special of Marketing in Your Car. Hey everyone, I hope life and everything is amazing. I appreciate you guys so much and so glad that you are listening and hanging out with us. I am excited today. Our kids started back to school, which means we get back to a normal schedule. No more staying up til midnight watching movies, no more sleeping in, no more anything. So today I was up early at 5 and I have been pounding through things. It's now 8:44 and I've lived an entire day. Now I'm heading to the office, which is exciting, it's been really fun. But what I did, and this is what I want to talk to you about because this is important. Yesterday I was like, I'm going to create a schedule and actually stick to it. And a lot of times we have our daily to-do's that we go through and we have our Google Calendar where everything is calendared out. But I wanted a framework that I could live my week around. So I was like, I don't know how to do that. I can't really do that in Google Calendar, I can't really do it on….I don't know. So I was like, I'm going to just make a framework in Excel. Now, I hate Excel, so this is good for any of you guys who are wondering, you don't have to have any Excel skills to do what I did because I did it without being good at Excel. But I opened up Excel and left hand side, I started breaking down time. And the morning, my morning routine is a lot tighter, minute by minute of what I need to get done. The afternoon is bigger time and then night is bigger as well. So I broke it down. For when I wake up, I got 15 minute segments, so 5:00, 5:15, 5:30, 5:45. 6:00, 6:15 like that all the way until the morning. So I did that on the left hand side. And on the right hand side I went Monday through Friday, because Saturday and Sunday are just different days. But Monday through Friday I want to follow a strict, stringent schedule. So I kind of build out the calendar, and again this is not something that shifts day to day, week to week. This is the template, then everything else kind of plugs inside of it. So I did that and then had the template, and then start breaking it down. It took a while, it took me probably an hour and a half, two hours. Kind of kept shifting things around, moving around, trying to find the perfect schedule for the perfect day. You can tell this life radio right, because I'm coughing in the middle. I apologize. So trying to do that, and if you guys listen to my podcast a little while ago about the Perfect Day formula from Greg Valentine stuff, and I kind of started building my perfect day, but it was hard to stick to it because I just kind of had it, but I didn't have a template of where things are plugged in. So anyway, after about an hour and a half yesterday, I had this template and everything fits. So my goal is this week, is to live the template perfectly and not deviate from it at all. I'll kind of give you guys an idea of what my template looks like. And everybody's is going to be different obviously, but this is what mine is. So Monday I start it at 5. From 5 til 6 I have funnel time. So I get up and work on my funnels, my projects, my books and things like that. I found that by leading the day with something that really gets me excited, where there's pure pleasure and no pain associated with it, it's easier to get up. When I have to wake up at 5 to go lift, there's pleasure associated with it, but there's also a lot of pain, so it was harder. So I'm starting my day with what I would want to do the most. So I wake up, boom from 5 til 6 on Monday is funnel time, and then from 6 til 7 we have weight lifting time, so that's when I head out to my gym and then invite anyone else who wants to come. Today was kind of fun, Brent and John both came, and Dave came and Steven came, and Dave's son came. It was a big party today. So that's kind of what happened from 6 til 7. And I'm trying to do this thing, I used to do it, where Monday I would do back and biceps, Wednesday chest and triceps and Friday would be legs, and the problem with that, I was talking to Alex Hormozi, one of our Inner Circle members and a stud. He talked about, he's like, “If you want to be good at anything in life, it's all about volume. You want to be good at marketing, volume. Just study like crazy and do a bunch of stuff. You want to get good at lifting, it's all volume. Right now you are lifting out each of your body parts once a week, you should do it three times a week.” I was like, alright. So today we lifted everything. We did a circuit, a heavy circuit. We did legs, back, biceps, chest, triceps. Kind of pounded all of them, which was really, really fun. I actually got done in less than an hour, which is cool. Super intense, just lifted hard and heavy and as soon as that was done, at 7 til 7:30, we've got a cryo session. So we jumped on over to the cryosauna, everyone wanted a freeze, froze, which is kind of cool. Then from 7:30 til 8:30, is my family time. That's about the time my kids are waking up. So I jump out and have breakfast with them, and then we got them ready, got school pictures and then they headed out the door. From 8:30 til 9 is Marketing in Your Car/driving to the office, which is what's happening right now. We're in the middle of this day, you guys are part of it. When I get to the office I've got about 15 minutes to kind of plan out what's happening, and then I have what's called NZT time. So NZT time, if you guys have been watching Limitless, the movie or TV series, both are amazing. If you do, watch the movie first and then go watch the TV series. But in there, there's this magic new tropic called NZT, where you take it and all the sudden you are in the zone. Unfortunately, there's not a real thing called NZT that actually works like it, but there's a thing called Keto OS, similar. It's got caffeine in it, it's amazing. And normally I was taking that first thing in the morning, the problem is that by the time I get to the office it had all worn off, so what's happening now is I'm bringing in my NZT, which is my Keto OS along with a bunch of supplements and stuff. So as soon as I get there, I'm going to plan my day and it becomes NZT time. Basically I'm going to drink the stuff, I get my caffeine boost, focus and it's my NZT time. So if you watch the TV show, Limitless, basically what happens is he comes in every morning, he takes NZT and he's got a 12 hour window where the NZT works and he's like a genius for 12 hours. So I'm going to do the same thing, except for instead of 12 hours it's closer to 6 hours. Take my thing and then it'll ….obviously it's not the same as NZT but it's like…..there's something really cool with rituals and with doing things to get yourself into a state. So I'm trying to create a state called my NZT state, which is like everything is focused. Boom, I take this drink and now I'm in focus mode. I'm out of reactive zone. I can't answer emails, can't check emails, can't do anything. Just gotta move forward on the projects. So it's, obviously there's a little caffeine boost, which always feels good. And I like drinking Keto OS because it tastes good and you get ketones in your body, a whole bunch of benefits. But it's more so the initiation of the state. If you've been to a Tony Robbins event, you learn how to get yourself in a state instantly. You learn how to create triggers and things to get you back into that state. So this is going to be my trigger. That as well as the song, Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, always gets me in a state. So I will drink that while I listen to that music and it will automatically get me in a NZT state, which is where I'm going to be most productive and I will work like crazy through my NZT state, which will be about 6 hours. It will be probably somewhere between 10 and 4. That's 6 hours right. Yeah, 10 to 4 will be my NZT state, which is all proactive, moving forward time, which will be amazing. About 4 I kind of go out of that. That's when I check emails, Voxers, catch up on everything. Then at 5 I shift to family time. From 5 til 9 is family time, so me and the kids are partying, playing, my wife as well. Reading scriptures, having dinner, playing. And then at 9 the kids go to bed. From 9 til 10 I've got scripture study time, which is going to be me in bed with some Biohacking device, so I've got all sorts of weird, crazy crap that Anthony's got me hooked to. Different lights and lasers and things so I'll be sitting in bed from 9 til 10 hooked up to lights and lasers as I read my scriptures, get my spiritual time in, re-focus, re-center. Then at 10 at night, try to go to bed, which is hard for me, but it's the only way to get up at 5. So that is Monday. Tuesday will be similar; the only difference is I'm not lifting on Tuesday. On Tuesday morning I wake up, I'm actually going to start with a float in the float tank for an hour. My float tank time is my gratitude time. So I sit in the float tank and I think about everything I'm grateful for, and not at a high level, but person by person by person. So my wife, my kids, each one of my kids. I think about each of them and be grateful for them, and then I go through my parents, my siblings, my staff, my team and I go person by person and think about what I'm grateful about each of these people for, until I fall asleep, which is usually what happens. Because I don't really know how to meditate and it seems weird to me and I don't really like the idea of meditating, but I do love being in the float tank. So when I'm in the float tank, that's what I do. I go person by person and think about them and what I'm grateful for. And when you wake up after that, you just feel good. So I got float tank in the morning from 5 til 6:15. At 6:15 I got my energy session with Tara Williams, so I'll be doing that for an hour, til 7:15. At 7:15 boom, that's when kids are getting up and my morning routine from that point Tuesday is pretty much the same. Wednesday will be very similar to Monday. Thursday I don't have an energy session, so I'm going to basically start the morning with funnel time for an hour, then do a float session. And then Friday is pretty much the same as Monday and Wednesday. The only difference is Friday at 4 I leave the office and I shift into date time. My wife and I have dates a couple times a month. Now we're going to make it where every Friday it happens, regardless.  I'm Mormon, so one thing we're going to do is try to once a month go to the temple during that time, and three times a month doing dates. Probably dates by ourselves, maybe inviting friends to dates. Basically every Friday night will be locked down to date time. There you go, there is my template for Monday through Friday. Oh, and one other thing. Thursday night from 9 til 11, I threw in wrestling time. So I'm inviting some of my wrestling buddies over and I will wrestle for 2 hours every Thursday night, which is something that feeds me and fuels me and gets me excited. So thursday night is wrestling time. So there's my template, its printed out and literally set in ink. You can't change it when it's set in ink, right? So I got it printed out, I'm carrying it with me and I'm going to try this week to follow that template to a t, as perfect as I can. The reason I sacrificed some things, it means The Bachelor in Paradise, I will not be able to watch it tonight because it wasn't on the template. I'll shift those things to Saturday, they'll be Saturday activities. Everything else that's fun that doesn't fit in those, I will shift those things to the weekend. Weekends I'll be more free. Weekends are all about for us, getting projects done and then playing with the kids and really just having fun there. And Sunday is more of a church, family time. So that's kind of the game plan. So I'll be, at least this week, trying to be perfect in the template. So I recommend for you guys if you don't have a template yet, to go build one. Again, it's not going into your Google calendar and blocking out hour by hour, because those are for your minute by minute things, that's what's happening inside your NZT zone or whatever those things are for you. For me, this is a template that's printed out that I can look at and say, “From this block this is where I need to be and what I need to be doing.” Anyway, I' m excited to try it out, and I'll let you know throughout this week how it goes. But that's what's happening. Hope that helps a little bit. That is my schedule and that's all I got you guys. I'm almost to the office, we're doing a marketing hack-a-thon this week during NZT time, and it's going to be fun. I'll be snapchatting and just grabbing some of the behind the scenes, so if you want to see what we're doing, come hang out over there. Alright guys, thanks so much for everything and we'll talk to you guys all again soon, bye.

Our kids started back to school, which means we get back to a normal schedule. No more staying up til midnight watching movies, no more sleeping in, no more anything. So today I was up early at 5 and I have been pounding through things. It’s now 8:44 and I’ve lived an entire day. Now I’m heading to the office, which is exciting, it’s been really fun. But what I did, and this is what I want to talk to you about because this is important. Yesterday I was like, I’m going to create a schedule and actually stick to it. And a lot of times we have our daily to-do’s that we go through and we have our Google Calendar where everything is calendared out. But I wanted a framework that I could live my week around. So I was like, I don’t know how to do that. I can’t really do that in Google Calendar, I can’t really do it on….I don’t know. So I was like, I’m going to just make a framework in Excel. Now, I hate Excel, so this is good for any of you guys who are wondering, you don’t have to have any Excel skills to do what I did because I did it without being good at Excel. You can tell this life radio right, because I’m coughing in the middle. I apologize. So trying to do that, and if you guys listen to my podcast a little while ago about the Perfect Day formula from Greg Valentine stuff, and I kind of started building my perfect day, but it was hard to stick to it because I just kind of had it, but I didn’t have a template of where things are plugged in. So anyway, after about an hour and a half yesterday, I had this template and everything fits. So my goal is this week, is to live the template perfectly and not deviate from it at all. I’ll kind of give you guys an idea of what my template looks like. And everybody’s is going to be different obviously, but this is what mine is. So Monday I start it at 5. From 5 til 6 I have funnel time. So I get up and work on my funnels, my projects, my books and things like that. I found that by leading the day with something that really gets me excited, where there’s pure pleasure and no pain associated with it, it’s easier to get up. When I have to wake up at 5 to go lift, there’s pleasure associated with it, but there’s also a lot of pain, so it was harder. So I’m starting my day with what I would want to do the most. So I wake up, boom from 5 til 6 on Monday is funnel time, and then from 6 til 7 we have weight lifting time, so that’s when I head out to my gym and then invite anyone else who wants to come. Today was kind of fun, Brent and John both came, and Dave came and Steven came, and Dave’s son came. It was a big party today. So that’s kind of what happened from 6 til 7. And I’m trying to do this thing, I used to do it, where Monday I would do back and biceps, Wednesday chest and triceps and Friday would be legs, and the problem with that, I was talking to Alex Hormozi, one of our Inner Circle members and a stud. He talked about, he’s like, “If you want to be good at anything in life, it’s all about volume. You want to be good at marketing, volume. Just study like crazy and do a bunch of stuff. You want to get good at lifting, it’s all volume. Super intense, just lifted hard and heavy and as soon as that was done, at 7 til 7:30, we’ve got a cryo session. So we jumped on over to the cryosauna, everyone wanted a freeze, froze, which is kind of cool. Then from 7:30 til 8:30, is my family time. That’s about the time my kids are waking up. So I jump out and have breakfast with them, and then we got them ready, got school pictures and then they headed out the door. From 8:30 til 9 is Marketing in Your Car/driving to the office, which is what’s happening right now. We’re in the middle of this day, you guys are part of it. When I get to the office I’ve got about 15 minutes to kind of plan out what’s happening, and then I have what’s called NZT time. So NZT time, if you guys have been watching Limitless, the movie or TV series, both are amazing. If you do, watch the movie first and then go watch the TV series. But in there, there’s this magic new tropic called NZT, where you take it and all the sudden you are in the zone. Unfortunately, there’s not a real thing called NZT that actually works like it, but there’s a thing called Keto OS, similar. It’s got caffeine in it, it’s amazing. And normally I was taking that first thing in the morning, the problem is that by the time I get to the office it had all worn off, so what’s happening now is I’m bringing in my NZT, which is my Keto OS along with a bunch of supplements and stuff. So as soon as I get there, I’m going to plan my day and it becomes NZT time. Basically I’m going to drink the stuff, I get my caffeine boost, focus and it’s my NZT time. So if you watch the TV show, Limitless, basically what happens is he comes in every morning, he takes NZT and he’s got a 12 hour window where the NZT works and he’s like a genius for 12 hours. So I’m going to do the same thing, except for instead of 12 hours it’s closer to 6 hours. Take my thing and then it’ll ….obviously it’s not the same as NZT but it’s like…..there’s something really cool with rituals and with doing things to get yourself into a state. So I’m trying to create a state called my NZT state, which is like everything is focused. Boom, I take this drink and now I’m in focus mode. I’m out of reactive zone. I can’t answer emails, can’t check emails, can’t do anything. Just gotta move forward on the projects. So it’s, obviously there’s a little caffeine boost, which always feels good. And I like drinking Keto OS because it tastes good and you get ketones in your body, a whole bunch of benefits. But it’s more so the initiation of the state. If you’ve been to a Tony Robbins event, you learn how to get yourself in a state instantly. You learn how to create triggers and things to get you back into that state. So this is going to be my trigger. That as well as the song, Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, always gets me in a state. So I will drink that while I listen to that music and it will automatically get me in a NZT state, which is where I’m going to be most productive and I will work like crazy through my NZT state, which will be about 6 hours. It will be probably somewhere between 10 and 4. That’s 6 hours right. Yeah, 10 to 4 will be my NZT state, which is all proactive, moving forward time, which will be amazing. About 4 I kind of go out of that. That’s when I check emails, Voxers, catch up on everything. Then at 5 I shift to family time. From 5 til 9 is family time, so me and the kids are partying, playing, my wife as well. Reading scriptures, having dinner, playing. And then at 9 the kids go to bed. From 9 til 10 I’ve got scripture study time, which is going to be me in bed with some Biohacking device, so I’ve got all sorts of weird, crazy crap that Anthony’s got me hooked to. Different lights and lasers and things so I’ll be sitting in bed from 9 til 10 hooked up to lights and lasers as I read my scriptures, get my spiritual time in, re-focus, re-center. Then at 10 at night, try to go to bed, which is hard for me, but it’s the only way to get up at 5. So that is Monday. Tuesday will be similar; the only difference is I’m not lifting on Tuesday. On Tuesday morning I wake up, I’m actually going to start with a float in the float tank for an hour. My float tank time is my gratitude time. So I sit in the float tank and I think about everything I’m grateful for, and not at a high level, but person by person by person. So my wife, my kids, each one of my kids. I think about each of them and be grateful for them, and then I go through my parents, my siblings, my staff, my team and I go person by person and think about what I’m grateful about each of these people for, until I fall asleep, which is usually what happens. Because I don’t really know how to meditate and it seems weird to me and I don’t really like the idea of meditating, but I do love being in the float tank. So when I’m in the float tank, that’s what I do. I go person by person and think about them and what I’m grateful for. And when you wake up after that, you just feel good. So I got float tank in the morning from 5 til 6:15. At 6:15 I got my energy session with Tara Williams, so I’ll be doing that for an hour, til 7:15. At 7:15 boom, that’s when kids are getting up and my morning routine from that point Tuesday is pretty much the same. Wednesday will be very similar to Monday. Thursday I don’t have an energy session, so I’m going to basically start the morning with funnel time for an hour, then do a float session. And then Friday is pretty much the same as Monday and Wednesday. The only difference is Friday at 4 I leave the office and I shift into date time. My wife and I have dates a couple times a month. Now we’re going to make it where every Friday it happens, regardless.  I’m Mormon, so one thing we’re going to do is try to once a month go to the temple during that time, and three times a month doing dates. Probably dates by ourselves, maybe inviting friends to dates. Basically every Friday night will be locked down to date time. There you go, there is my template for Monday through Friday. Oh, and one other thing. Thursday night from 9 til 11, I threw in wrestling time. So I’m inviting some of my wrestling buddies over and I will wrestle for 2 hours every Thursday night, which is something that feeds me and fuels me and gets me excited. So thursday night is wrestling time. So there’s my template, its printed out and literally set in ink. You can’t change it when it’s set in ink, right? So I got it printed out, I’m carrying it with me and I’m going to try this week to follow that template to a t, as perfect as I can. The reason I sacrificed some things, it means The Bachelor in Paradise, I will not be able to watch it tonight because it wasn’t on the template. I’ll shift those things to Saturday, they’ll be Saturday activities. Everything else that’s fun that doesn’t fit in those, I will shift those things to the weekend. Weekends I’ll be more free. Weekends are all about for us, getting projects done and then playing with the kids and really just having fun there. And Sunday is more of a church, family time. So that’s kind of the game plan. So I’ll be, at least this week, trying to be perfect in the template. So I recommend for you guys if you don’t have a template yet, to go build one. Again, it’s not going into your Google calendar and blocking out hour by hour, because those are for your minute by minute things, that’s what’s happening inside your NZT zone or whatever those things are for you. For me, this is a template that’s printed out that I can look at and say, “From this block this is where I need to be and what I need to be doing.” Anyway, I’ m excited to try it out, and I’ll let you know throughout this week how it goes. But that’s what’s happening. Hope that helps a little bit. That is my schedule and that’s all I got you guys. I’m almost to the office, we’re doing a marketing hack-a-thon this week during NZT time, and it’s going to be fun. I’ll be snapchatting and just grabbing some of the behind the scenes, so if you want to see what we’re doing, come hang out over there. Alright guys, thanks so much for everything and we’ll talk to you guys all again soon, bye.

Find out Russell's solution to being Voxed by clients at all times that were causing him to disengage with his family. And find out if Russell has yet achieved his goal of spending more time with his kids than he does at work. Listen below to find out how Russell cleared some of the stressful clutter from his life. ---Transcript--- Hey everyone. This is Russell, and welcome to “Marketing in Your Car.” Hi, everyone. Late night, just got back from the grocery store, heading home, and I want to tell you about something cool that I think I'm doing that I want to recommend to you guys to do, I think. [laughs] I'm pretty sure I am. I'm kind of stressing out about it right now, but I think that after I get through the withdrawal symptoms, this process is going to be awesome. As some of you guys know, we just had our book launch, Click Funnels launch, a baby, we have our live event coming up. We just moved offices, and we're about to move our house. All this change, and all these things, and it's been insane keeping up with everything. On top of that, we have all the normal things that we have to do, right? And for me, as some of you guys know through our coaching program, I give our higher-end clients access to me through Vox, so I get Voxers all the time. There's just all these things that are pressing on me, and it's like it's getting to the point where it's hard to bear, all of it, and so I've been trying to think, “How do I structure things differently so that I can get out from under this pressure?” I remember Dan Gable, who, those of you guys who know wrestling, he's like the Michael Jordan of wrestling. One time someone asked him about pressure, “How do you deal with all this pressure that's on your life?”, or they asked him if he believed in pressure, and he said, “Well I believe in it. It's there. I just don't choose to put myself underneath it.” I was thinking about that. I feel like I've been putting myself under enormous pressure, [laughs] and I have this horrible problem where I just say “Yes” to everything. I want to do all these things, because it's completely exciting to me. So I've been trying to weave things out and trying to simplify my life and everything. Anyway, over the last 24 hours or so, I've made some big jumps, like some crazy huge leaps, and I want to walk you through them, because again, I'm in the withdrawal process right now, and it's stressing me out, but I think it's going to be really good, long term. First off, the first step was email. I had to get control of my email. I have had the same email address for like 12 years. Everyone in the world has it. I'm on a million newsletters, a million different things, and right now, on average, I was trying to measure between that. I use a service called Sane Box, which takes all your junk and tries to filter it out and get rid of it before it gets to your inbox. But even with that, I get over a thousand emails a day hit my inbox, and between that and Sane Box, it's about 3,500 emails a day. It's insane. I don't even know how…if you ever emailed me and I didn't write back, that's probably why I didn't. It just gets so overwhelming, and every time I walk in, I'm just sick to my stomach. I don't even know what to do, and it just never goes away. It just keeps growing and growing and growing.[laughs] I've been so scared to not have it, like, “What happens if I miss an email? What if I don't see something?”, and so because I'm checking my phone a million times a day because email's coming in so fast that it's pushing emails off the screen, and I don't want to miss anything. Anyway, there's all this stress that comes from it. So my first thing I decided to do was I needed to kill my email address, which was crazy. I set up a new email address, and then I was like, “Well, I don't want to just tell everyone my new email address, because I'm going to start getting a million emails.” So what I did is I set up an auto-responder thing on my old email address, and I'm still going to have Kelsey, my assistant, go in each day and just browse, and make sure that I'm not missing anything super important like bills or things like that, who knows, whatever could come through. But now there's an auto-responder for emails on my old email address that pops up and says, “New email address — how to contact me inside.” You open it up, and it basically says, “Hey, I was getting 3,500 emails a day. I can't keep up with it. But if you're awesome, and I'm assuming you are, and you want to contact me, then this is how you can do it,” and I push them to a form to fill out. I push them to a Wufoo form, and basically the Wufoo form says, “What's your name, your email address, your Skype number, and what's your question?” When someone goes to that form, they don't have my new email address, but they can fill it out, and then I get that. Wufoo emails me the form that they got, so the form pops into my email address that says Name, Email Address, Skype, and their question. I look at that question. If it's something for me, I can respond if I want to, or if I don't, I can forward it to Kelsey or to Brent or to someone on my team to take care of it, and that person never gets to me. If it is someone that I want to hear from, then I can respond back to them, and then that person's got access to my inbox. I did that on Friday, before I left. It's Saturday night. It's been 24 hours, and it's been stressing me out because my email inbox only has three emails from people who've actually got the thing, filled it out. Two of them I didn't want to respond to, so I forwarded them to someone else, and then one of them was someone I wanted to. I responded to them, and that was it, and it's crazy. I even went back to my old email box, scanning through to make sure I'm not missing anything, but for the most part it's really refreshing. There's no one contacting me, and it's kind of stressing me out because of that, which is kind of cool. The next thing was Voxers. I've got my high-end clients on Voxer, which used to be really, really easy, but as we've grown, it's gotten more and more, and so I always try to get back to people really, really fast, and the problem is that means I'm answering Voxers all day long, all night long, all the time, and I just needed to get more control over that. So what I did is one of my friends from our Mastermind group — his name's Joe McCall — he bought me a new iPhone while we were there, which was super cool. He gave me this brand new iPhone, and so I turned this into my new iPhone. I've got a new install of Voxer on it, and I just gave this one to close people that I really needed to communicate with, people that I want instantly, like I need to have the contact with my wife, my team, things like that. The other phone, I kept on my Voxer conversations, and I kept it at my office. I didn't even bring it home this weekend. I don't even have it. People are probably Voxing me, and I don't have the ability to respond back to them. I'm going to respond back to them on Monday when I get to the office, and then I'll just have that at the office, and I'll do client work there, and then when I'm home, I don't do client work there anymore, which is kind of cool. That was the next barrier that I put up, and then the next thing is, my assistant Kelsey's been my assistant for four or five years. She's been doing the support role and assistant and things like that. Now I'm trying to make her more of an assistant. Each day, she comes in to my office, and the day, gives me a write-up of what's happening the next day, tells me what's in my inbox, who I've got calls with, what's happening. She's been kind of controlling my whole life. She's been checking my emails. She's trying to put up as many barriers around me and take care of me, so I don't have to stress out. She gets my lunches now, all these kind of things, so I can focus on what I do best, which is what brings the money in. The next thing I'm going to try to start doing is I'm going to try to start — because I don't know about you guys, but at the beginning of the year, I set a goal. One of my goals was to spend more time with my kids than I do at the office. So far, I haven't done that yet, but these are the first steps to get me to that point. Next, I'm going to start trying to spend more time in the mornings with my wife, maybe take her to the movies once or twice a week in the mornings. Spending more time with my kids — coming home a little earlier. Anyway, I'm trying to get this under control, and it's hard for me. I don't know if you guys are like me, serial entrepreneurs. This has been a hard, painful process. I totally keep checking my phone, and there's nothing there for me. There's no one to talk to, which is good. I've got to focus on who I love the most. As I said, I'm going through withdrawals right now, but I think, hopefully, in a couple of days I'll realize that nobody really needs to talk to me, that I'm going to be okay, and I will go have a chance to be more present with the people that I love and that I care about, and things like that. Anyways, it's kind of cool. I'm excited for it. It's painful right now, but I think it's going to be good, and I just want to recommend for you to do the same thing, to start putting up some barriers. Start making some rules. I remember Alex Mendosian, one of my first mentors, and one of the smartest dudes — just an amazing guy. I remember him telling me probably five or six times over the last 12 years, I've heard him speak about retiring your email. Once a year, he'll offer you an email address. I've never done it. I've been so scared, and I finally am doing it. I'm finally getting out from under that pressure, like Dan Gable said. So I can focus, and I can create better. I can be better, and be more, and I'm excited for it. I hope that this gives you guys permission to do that, to turn off your email. It took me a while to figure out the right way to do that, and I think that that way that I figured out works. It's really smart, and I think it's working really good. Again, we're basically vacation auto-responder messages back to them. It tells them to fill out a form. The form gets sent to me, and I decide if I want to respond or forward it to somebody else, and it's really simple and easy to do, and something that I recommend for you guys to test out and to try. Anyway, hope that helps. I am home with the groceries. I'm going to go in and be with my wife and my baby, Nora, who's probably still awake. Everyone else had better be asleep. [laughs] I appreciate you guys for listening. I hope things are awesome, and if you don't have your tickets to the Funnel Hacking Event, go and get them. It's going to be amazing. FunnelHacking.com is where you can get them at, and outside of that, I appreciate you guys, and we'll talk soon.

I even went back to my old email box, scanning through to make sure I’m not missing anything, but for the most part it’s really refreshing. There’s no one contacting me, and it’s kind of stressing me out because of that, which is kind of cool. The next thing was Voxers. I’ve got my high-end clients on Voxer, which used to be really, really easy, but as we’ve grown, it’s gotten more and more, and so I always try to get back to people really, really fast, and the problem is that means I’m answering Voxers all day long, all night long, all the time, and I just needed to get more control over that. So what I did is one of my friends from our Mastermind group — his name’s Joe McCall — he bought me a new iPhone while we were there, which was super cool. He gave me this brand new iPhone, and so I turned this into my new iPhone. I’ve got a new install of Voxer on it, and I just gave this one to close people that I really needed to communicate with, people that I want instantly, like I need to have the contact with my wife, my team, things like that. The other phone, I kept on my Voxer conversations, and I kept it at my office. I didn’t even bring it home this weekend. I don’t even have it. People are probably Voxing me, and I don’t have the ability to respond back to them. I’m going to respond back to them on Monday when I get to the office, and then I’ll just have that at the office, and I’ll do client work there, and then when I’m home, I don’t do client work there anymore, which is kind of cool. That was the next barrier that I put up, and then the next thing is, my assistant Kelsey’s been my assistant for four or five years. She’s been doing the support role and assistant and things like that. Now I’m trying to make her more of an assistant. Each day, she comes in to my office, and the day, gives me a write-up of what’s happening the next day, tells me what’s in my inbox, who I’ve got calls with, what’s happening. She’s been kind of controlling my whole life. She’s been checking my emails. She’s trying to put up as many barriers around me and take care of me, so I don’t have to stress out. She gets my lunches now, all these kind of things, so I can focus on what I do best, which is what brings the money in. The next thing I’m going to try to start doing is I’m going to try to start — because I don’t know about you guys, but at the beginning of the year, I set a goal. One of my goals was to spend more time with my kids than I do at the office. So far, I haven’t done that yet, but these are the first steps to get me to that point. Next, I’m going to start trying to spend more time in the mornings with my wife, maybe take her to the movies once or twice a week in the mornings. Spending more time with my kids — coming home a little earlier. Anyway, I’m trying to get this under control, and it’s hard for me. I don’t know if you guys are like me, serial entrepreneurs. This has been a hard, painful process. I totally keep checking my phone, and there’s nothing there for me. There’s no one to talk to, which is good. I’ve got to focus on who I love the most. As I said, I’m going through withdrawals right now, but I think, hopefully, in a couple of days I’ll realize that nobody really needs to talk to me, that I’m going to be okay, and I will go have a chance to be more present with the people that I love and that I care about, and things like that. Anyways, it’s kind of cool. I’m excited for it. It’s painful right now, but I think it’s going to be good, and I just want to recommend for you to do the same thing, to start putting up some barriers. Start making some rules. I remember Alex Mendosian, one of my first mentors, and one of the smartest dudes — just an amazing guy. I remember him telling me probably five or six times over the last 12 years, I’ve heard him speak about retiring your email. Once a year, he’ll offer you an email address. I’ve never done it. I’ve been so scared, and I finally am doing it. I’m finally getting out from under that pressure, like Dan Gable said. So I can focus, and I can create better. I can be better, and be more, and I’m excited for it. I hope that this gives you guys permission to do that, to turn off your email. It took me a while to figure out the right way to do that, and I think that that way that I figured out works. It’s really smart, and I think it’s working really good. Again, we’re basically vacation auto-responder messages back to them. It tells them to fill out a form. The form gets sent to me, and I decide if I want to respond or forward it to somebody else, and it’s really simple and easy to do, and something that I recommend for you guys to test out and to try. Anyway, hope that helps. I am home with the groceries. I’m going to go in and be with my wife and my baby, Nora, who’s probably still awake. Everyone else had better be asleep. [laughs] I appreciate you guys for listening. I hope things are awesome, and if you don’t have your tickets to the Funnel Hacking Event, go and get them. It’s going to be amazing. FunnelHacking.com is where you can get them at, and outside of that, I appreciate you guys, and we’ll talk soon.
