WolfTalk: Podcast About Audio Programming (People, Careers, Learning)
In this podcast episode, I was lucky to interview Oliver Larkin: an audio programming legend from the UK.Starting with a passion for music, going through Max, SynthEdit, PureData, then C++ to JavaScript and others, there is no audio technology that's not known to him. He has worked on projects with Arturia and Focusrite (among many more) and nowadays works for Ableton. He has conducted research in spatial audio, and has created successful plugins, like the Casio CZ-101 synthesizer emulation. He is most widely known as the co-author of Web Audio Modules and iPlug2: an C++ framework for creating audio plugins and web-hosted audio apps. It allows you to have a single codebase that builds various plugin formats out of the box, e.g., VST, AAX, and AU. Sounds familiar? That's because it is an alternative to the JUCE framework. With 20 years of experience in audio programming, he can be a role model for aspiring audio programmers. All this and more, including Oli's learning path is discussed in this podcast episode!Note: If you like the podcast so far, please, go to Apple Podcasts and leave me a review there. It will benefit both sides: more reviews mean a broader reach on Apple Podcasts and feedback can help me to improve the show and provide better quality content to you. Thank you for doing this
References https://www.radio-browser.info the site has good searching features, and even has a player. It has a map view that's cute but not too useful because it doesn't zoom in enough. Still fun to fly around the world and tune in simply by clicking the balloons, you should try it. Mobile apps that use this directory are found on https://www.radio-browser.info/users. The ones I've used are TuneFM (with ads, pay what you want (I think) to remove ads, but very good Android Auto), and Transistor (no Android Auto, otherwise perfect). Open Radio is pretty good but the Android Auto is buggy. I have not tried any others. The episode in which Ken Fallon interviewed one of the maintainers of Funkwhale was hpr3808. Some stations I've been listening to: Radio MEC: Brazilian state-controlled. Located in Rio de Janeiro. Plays more uppity stuff. Radio Nacional Rio de Janeiro: Brazilian state-controlled, located in Rio de Janeiro. Plays more popular music, football broadcasts. A good show comes on every saturday at 11:00 BRT. Radio Liga Samba: Samba. Kansas City Online Radio: an online-only Blues station. Seems to mostly syndicate podcasts.
WolfTalk: Podcast About Audio Programming (People, Careers, Learning)
In this podcast episode, I was lucky to interview Christoph Guttandin: a web audio developer from Berlin, Germany.Chris is a self-taught programmer with a formal training as an audio-visual technician. He's a freelancer who deals with playing back sound in the browser, sometimes on multiple computers simultaneously. He's a member of the W3C Audio Community Group where he gives feedback regarding the new standards. He's especially careful about the compliance of browsers to standard updates. He regularly answers questions regarding web audio on StackOverflow. He was a speaker at the Audio Developer Conference 2022.In the podcast, we not only discuss his background and his story of how he became a web audio developer but we also uncover how you can become one. I specifically ask him about the best resources on web audio programming and which languages, tools & frameworks to use.Note: If you like the podcast so far, please, go to Apple Podcasts and leave me a review there. Some people suffer physically when they encounter something like parallax scrolling or horizontally scrolling text. It can cause them nausea, dizziness, or other symptoms that can last for hours. These people can turn the "reduce motion" settings ON from the system level. As a developer, you have tools to respect that setting. In this talk, Eevis discusses why motion can trigger the symptoms mentioned above and what kind of animations can be problematic (this can be surprising for some!). She also shows you how to respect the user’s settings with the prefers-reduced-motion media feature. Presenter: Eeva-Jonna Panula

King David was guilty of shocking sins! But David experienced total forgiveness, and from a sinful relationship comes the lineage that brings us Jesus our Savior.
Josh started out trying to build a "GitHub for music." When that idea didn't pan out, he still wanted to do something with Web Audio and WebRTC. So he started building Zencastr, which gives podcasters the ability to record "double-ender" interviews in the browser.

Chris Lowis first showed up on my radar via an episode of the JS Air podcast. He was talking about the history and concepts of the Web Audio API to a bunch of Javascript-heads. He seemed equally comfortable talking about either audio or programming, and I knew he'd be a great interview for my podcast. I couldn't have been more correct. Chris has a great history; studying acoustics, working at the BBC and being involved with the standards groups that are pulling the Web Audio API spec together. The effort is starting to show some great results, with recent Web pages really lighting up some spectacular devices: synths, games and other goodies. Where you you go to find out more about this stuff? One place is Chris' home for his Web Audio Weekly blog: http://blog.chrislowis.co.uk/waw.html. This is the de-facto clearing house for new apps, devices and libraries that work with the Web Audio and Web MIDI specs. If you want a little more active call-and-response, you can check in on the Web Audio Slack Channel. Finally, Chris himself refers to the Mozilla Developer Network documentation as a great place to find out more about the details of web audio. Finally, when you are ready to do some coding of your own, you will probably want to take the Web Audio School: (online trial) http://mmckegg.github.io/web-audio-school/ (github download) https://github.com/mmckegg/web-audio-school Enjoy, and make sure you give some Web Audio examples a try!

The ability to manipulate audio in complex ways as part of the web page itself is yet another piece of the puzzle for using HTML + JavaScript to create complex experiences. Chris Wilson joins Jen Simmons to explain the Web Audio API and what it can do.
