Long before anyone was a Belieber and Justin Bieber became a household name, Shani Gonzales was already a fan. This instinctive foresight and her unwavering self-confidence have been the cornerstones of her illustrious career, culminating in her present positions. Shani holds the dual roles of Executive Vice President and Managing Director at Warner Chappell Music UK and the Head of International A&R at Warner Chappell Music. Her track record in the music business is distinguished by her knack for signing and guiding some of the most influential artists of our time, including DJ Khaled, Juice Wrld, and Bibi Bourelly, who has penned hits for the likes of Camila Cabello, Rihanna, and Selena Gomez. Among the high-caliber talents she has played a part in developing are Labrinth, Justin Bieber, MeLo-X, Nate Cyphert (famous for his work with Florida Georgia Line), Nic Nac (linked with Chris Brown and DJ Khaled), Poo Bear, P2J (producer for superstars like Beyoncé, Doja Cat, WizKid), Saint Jhn, Travis Scott, and WondaGurl, known for her production work with Drake and Rihanna.   In her leadership capacity at Warner Chappell Music UK, and in tandem with her A&R international duties, Gonzales is pivotal in broadening the publisher's UK roster. She selects artists with a focus on diversity and has been influential in acquiring talents such as BOJ, Central Cee, Daniel Blumberg, Emma-Jean Thackray, Legendury Beatz, P2J, and The Snuts. Her advocacy for international cooperation has been relentless, ensuring that Warner Chappell Music's global network of esteemed artists works together harmoniously, fostering cross-border artistic partnerships.   Shani's extraordinary career achievements, while a product of her relentless effort, are also a testament to the influence of her Jamaican and Trinidadian heritage, thanks to her parents' unwavering support, open-mindedness, and nurturing.   In this discussion, we delve into the nuances of managing one of the leading publishing divisions within a major music company. We explore how Shani synergizes her seasoned judgment with the fresh perspectives of her team, even in areas where she continues to grow. And, we'll uncover her three key strategic plays. Some as young as six years old practice intricate styles on Barbie dolls until they are able to land a first client. This rings true for Serina Green – a self-taught 23-year-old hairstylist from Scarborough, Ontario. Growing up in the city’s east end, her styling abilities caught the attention of family members, neighbours and schoolmates alike. She occupied any space she could; turning anything from gym bleachers to the school’s cafeteria tables into a makeshift salon. Similar to the path of many creatives in pursuit of a dream, in 2018, Serina encountered two back-to-back life-altering near-death experiences within a 2-month span, changing her drive and passion for hairstyling from just something to do, to a livelihood. To date, Serina has styled hair for many recognizable figures such as WondaGurl who is best known for her work with industry heavyweights such as Jay Z, Travis Scott & SZA. She has also styled a series of the Toronto Raptors such as OG Anunoby, Eric Moreland, NBA shooting guard Andrew Wiggins of the Minnesota Timberwolves, former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman, and former Los Angeles Dodgers player Matt Kemp, just to name a few.Serina has her sights on growing her clientele and creating content that educates the masses on hair care specifically speaking to how choosing the right products, tools and following a routine can change the course of one’s hair journey.CONTACT: Instagram www.braidagyalrin.com Special thanks to Serina’s Friends & FamilyJoyce “Hillie” Green Rhea Green Sponsored by: National Co-operative Credit Union DominicaOriginal Music Intro & OutroTropikal Muzic Instagram Excerpts from "Keep Calm Podcast" for free non-copyright music available https://www.podcast.co/music  Black Island Girl Multimedia is an online magazine that profiles prolific women and female ran organizations who are of the Caribbean islands and identify as women of African heritage. We back baby! In this episode we have one of the filthiest up and coming superstar producers on the rise. He's from Toronto (surprise surprise.. seems like all of the awesome producers are coming from there!) With recent placements on Drake's "More Life", Uzi's "Luv Is Rage 2", Bryson Tiller's "True To Self" & more, 2017 was no doubt his break-out year. At 20 years young, what are the next steps as a music producer after just reaching these new milestones? We dig a little deeper into what life is like for Francis now, what it was like during the grind, his years of building a friendship with the amazing WondaGurl beats and how that relationship changed both of their lives and the importance of being open to collaboration.
