    Ivy Insights

The Act Two Podcast is by far the screenwriting podcast I most eagerly anticipate each week. With its funny and relatable hosts, Tasha and Josh, it strikes a perfect balance between discussions of the craft of screenwriting and industry topics. Unlike some other podcasts, they never come off as preachy or too cool for school. Instead, they feel like loyal friends who not only entertain but also provide invaluable advice and guidance that I didn't even realize I needed. This podcast truly stands out in its ability to deliver both entertainment and helpful nuggets of wisdom.

One of the best aspects of The Act Two Podcast is its hosts' genuine passion for writing and their deep understanding of the craft. Tasha and Josh are serious writers who dive into the nuts and bolts of what it's actually like to be a working writer in Hollywood. Their "pitches" series alone can save aspiring writers years of hard lessons. They offer practical insights into breaking into the business and share valuable information about how to navigate the industry as an entry-level writer. This podcast is like having access to a treasure trove of insider knowledge.

While there are many podcasts about screenwriting out there, few cover the practicalities of breaking into the business quite like The Act Two Podcast does. It provides a much-needed perspective from writers who are hustling and surviving in apartments rather than sitting comfortably in mansions. The authenticity of their experiences shines through, making this podcast relatable to those starting out in the film industry.

In terms of drawbacks, it would be great if The Act Two Podcast could feature more interviews with established professionals in addition to their focus on emerging writers. Although they discuss industry topics, hearing directly from experienced veterans could offer different perspectives and insights that would complement their already excellent content.

In conclusion, The Act Two Podcast is a refreshing and necessary addition to the landscape of screenwriting podcasts. It offers aspiring writers a realistic view of what it takes to succeed in the industry, while also providing valuable advice and guidance. Tasha and Josh's passion for the craft shines through, making this podcast a must-listen for anyone interested in pursuing a career in screenwriting. Highly recommended.
