This recording was delayed until Monday morning because life is better with Andy by Brendan's side! Andy's in the dumps following the Illini's loss to Kentucky in the Round of 32, but his spirits were lifted by Tiger Woods hard-launching his relationship with Vanessa Trump on Sunday night. Brendan and Andy unpack all aspects of Tiger's post, from the bizarre caption to the posed photos prominently featuring the Sun Day Red logo. After a quick spin through Vanessa Trump's Wikipedia page, the two move on to the golf, where a "lost" Viktor Hovland ran down Justin Thomas to win the Valspar. Brendan is fired up about how great the PGA Tour's Florida Swing was and imagines Luke Donald is thrilled with back-to-back wins from European Ryder Cup stalwarts. Andy shares some appreciation for Viktor Hovland's openness with the media when discussing his struggles and compares how Hovland and JT played the final few holes down the stretch in different ways. It was a week of viral moments - Billy Boy showed off some ambidextrousness, making a birdie after hitting his approach left-handed, Adam Hadwin broke a sprinkler with a club slam, and Patton Kizzire perfected the "putter punt." Elsewhere in golf, Dick Mansell won on the DP World Tour, the Sunshine Tour is back in the Coetzee Zone, and Miguel Angel Jimenez secured his second Champions Tour win of the 2025 season in California. There's also plenty of chatter about the PGA Tour's DMCA habits, which are back and possibly better than ever! Things wrap up with some March Madness talk following Andy and PJ's trips to their respective regional sites to watch their teams lose in the second round.
Sports Lead Nick Tatham sits down with Sunshine Tour Commissioner Thomas Abt to discuss the event's highly anticipated return to Durban Country Club. From February 27 to March 2, the world's top golfers will converge on Durban. Listen in to hear all about the revamped course, the star-studded lineup and the significance of the tournament.

On Episode 36: Heinrich Bruiners Heinrich Bruiners is back! This time we talk about his recent win at the Stella Artois Players Championship in the Sunshine Tour event at Dainfern Golf Estate. We also talk about how golf biomechanics, club fittings and golf coaching can have an impact on your swing and how genetics can play apart in your golf game. Heinrich opens up about his past and how he corrected his mistakes to get to the point where he is back in the winers circle and what an inspiration "Chasing The Sun" is to South Africa. Heinrich Bruiners is a personable young man from George with a wonderful talent who made a breakthrough in his career when he won the Vodacom Origins of Golf Sunshine Tour event at the tough Euphoria Golf Estate and the Stella Artois Players Championship. By all accounts his table tennis skills were something to see, but golf is where his passion lies and as a junior he competed successfully with the likes of Brandon Grace and he represented the Southern Cape as a junior provincial golfer. In this episode sponsored by Golf Tips Checker Craig was joined by the prolific winner from South Africa Shaun Norris who over a 22 year pro career has amassed a whopping 11 Professional Wins at all levels including a stunning 6 wins in Japan a country he deeply adores and looks forward to getting back there in March! We catch up with Shaun after a long break since Dunhill Champs at Leopard Creek as he explains the signs of fatigue that kicked in towards the end of the season coming from Japan & SA. Shaun turned pro in 2002 & won his first event in 2005 on Tarheel Tour then followed it with success on Sunshine Tour! A career that has spanned DP World Tour/Challenge Tour/Asian Tour/Tarheel Tour & 7 events in the inaugural LIV season it is the Japanese Tour where Shaun has had massive success winning at least 1 event from 2016-20 including a national championship & won twice in 2021 including a Flagship event on the Japanese Tour to stamp his authority as one of the best in the country. Shaun explains his love with the Japanese way of living, the culture, the food & the beauty including Mount Fuji! In 2022 at Steyn City Shaun would win on the DP World Tour for the first time beating fellow countryman Dean Burmester to win at -25 shortly after that Shaun would be approached by LIV Golf with an offer of playing the first 7 events of the inaugural season which he would accept and tells us about how the difference between LIV Golf & normal Tour Golf are. In this latest episode of Chasing Pars Golf Podcast in association with Golf Tips Checker Craig is joined by Sunshine Your sensation & 2x winner Ryan van Velzen who phones in from on site of tomorrow's Sunshine Tour event at Mediclinic Invitational where its a strong field with the likes of Jacques Kruyswijk, Oli Bekker, Danie van Tonder, Benjamin Follett-Smith amongst those playing on the Sunshine Tour this week. Ryan talks us through his journey to the Sunshine Tour via winning twice on Big Easy Tour as an amateur while turning pro in 2021. While first coming on the Sunshine Tour it was none other than multiple time winner on the tour Jaco Van Zyl that took Ryan under his wing and gave him the guidance on what to do and what not to do. Ryan is a 2x winner on Sunshine Tour after winning twice last year at Limpopo Championship after Jaco Prinsloo doubled the last to hand Ryan his first win at that level. Ryan along with good friend Luca Filippi would win together at Bain's Whisky Ubunye Team Champs in the process Luca winning his maiden Sunshine Tour title. In this episode of the podcast which is sponsored by Golf Tips Checker Craig was joined by 2x Sunshine Tour winner & new 2024 DP World Tour card holder Pieter Moolman, a player with one of the saddest and devastating stories. Pieter is from Ekerhulani in Gauteng just short of Johannesburg in South Africa, started playing Golf at 13 & would go be a member at Benoni Lake Golf Club. Pieter won 2009 South African Boys, competed at Duke of York Champions & was represented at every age group from 16 for Eastern Gauteng. Pieter is a 2x Sunshine Tour winner having won 2022 Fortress Invitational & 2023 VOG KZN and describes himself as a massive petrol head that has owned lots of different Audi's while he also fixes and modifies his own Cars. Turning Pro in 2011 Pieter would play on the Sunshine Tour in 2012 as well as some Big Easy Tour events and would describe the opening 4 years as a pro as a struggle having lost his Sunshine Tour card in 2015 having to go back to Big Easy Tour to play well again to win back his privileges on Sunshine Tour. Over the past couple of seasons on Sunshine Tour have been much better with multiple Top 10's including 2 wins, 2 2nd's 3 3rd's as well as some top 20s on European Challenge Tour. We go over why South African Golf is in a good spot with so many talented players down to different foundations in the Country and Pieter predicts in the next 5 years there will be 7 South African Major wins while I think 3 South African Major wins. In the last part I let Pieter go through one of the most horrifying experiences in a terrible event that would rock his world forever when travelling back from Durban with his then Girlfriend they would have a major car accident with the driver going near head on where Pieter would suffer injuries such as a Fractured Pelvis & his partner would suffer injuries as well as the Drivers wife but unfortunately the driver of the other vehicle would tragically pass away from the injuries & we discover the lasting impact that this had on Moolman's approach to life going forward. A seriously hard hitting last 15 mins or so of the episode where it would cause a lump in the throat at one point. Very sad but Pieter believes he was given this lucky chance. We find out stuff about Luca through the quick fire round then later find out about his amateur successes and later Sunshine Tour successes in 2023. Cape Town born Luca originally played Tournament Golf at Age of 9 at Atlantic Golf Club having played all of the sports growing up. A big part of Luca's develop was being in the presence of the great man himself Ernie Els who specifically took him in at the age of 14 through the Els Foundation which funded Luca's Junior & Amateur career until just before turning pro in 2020 Luca mentions how accommodating Ernie was with him. Now a part of the GolfRSA brand owned by Dunhill owner Johann Rupert we see how some of the best talents in South Africa have won at all levels in the last 5 years. As a Junior Luca Filippi would be selected for 2017 Junior Presidents Cup side captained by Trevor Immelman alongside close friends Jayden Schaper & Garrick Higgo as well as the enigmatic Christo Lamprecht! Luca would also play big events such as 2017 Junior World Cup in Japan for South Africa, 2017 Junior Players' Champs, British Amateur 3 times (17',18',19) and would win the iconic South African Amateur Champs in 2019. Luca turned pro in 2020 & takes us through some of the toughest times of his life in that year starting out on Sunshine Tour before the world shut off for Covid. 2022 would be better with a highest finish of 2nd at Blue Label Challenge the week after his mother was in hospital so it was very emotional. In 2023 Luca would have a whole host of Top 10 finishes on Sunshine Tour with persistence finally paying off alongside good friend Ryan van Velzen at Bain's Whisky Ubunye Champs pairs tournament which resulted in Luca's 1st pro title then would go on to win 2023 Blue Label Challenge for his 2nd not long after. A genuinely brilliant guy with the talent to really compete at a higher level. Give this a listen for some laugh, some serious & some honest chat about Luca's career. On Episode 29: Jacques Blaauw And Heinrich Bruiners (Pro Golfers) A great inside from the two professional golfers on what goes on behind the scenes. Jacques Blaauw Jacques began learning his trade as a 10 year old boy out of Boschenmeer Golf Club in Paarl, and took to golf immediately. Making his way steadily through the junior ranks, he received a scholarship in 2007 to attend the USA's Oklahoma City University, from which point his game flourished. He won the 2007 Texas Intercollegiate Championship, before returning to his native South Africa the following year to conquer the local Amateur ranks. During 2008, he won both the SA Amateur Strokeplay and Matchplay, along with the Free State/Northern Cape Open. In the same year, Jacques represented South Africa at the Eisenhower Trophy in Australia and captained the SA four-man team for a once off test match against France. Jacques was later named Golf Digest and Compleat Golfer's amateur of the year for 2008, and decided it was time to turn pro. Since gaining his card for the Sunshine Tour in 2009, Jacques has enjoyed steady finishes in the order of merit, never finishing outside the Top 60 and recording career earnings in excess of R1 million. Jacques already has numerous Top 5 finishes to his name, and his maiden victory is surely not far away. In his spare time, you're likely to see Jacques working out at the gym or playing Xbox, and listening to David Guetta. His dream is to play at Augusta, and like many, considers Ernie Els and Tiger Woods to be his role models. Heinrich Bruiners: Heinrich Bruiners is a personable young man from George with a wonderful talent who made a breakthrough in his career when he won the Vodacom Origins of Golf Sunshine Tour event at the tough Euphoria Golf Estate. Heinrich is such a story. He grew up in an environment that gave him access to various sports and as is so often the case he was pretty good at all of them. By all accounts his table tennis skills were something to see, but golf is where his passion lies and as a junior he competed successfully with the likes of Brandon Grace and he represented the Southern Cape as a junior provincial golfer. His continued success saw him being awarded with national colours when he made the South African junior team that played in Japan. This week's episode of Scrambling with Dylan Otto features professional golfer Hunter Epson. Golf was always something Hunter did growing up, but he was really invested in soccer and ice hockey as well. Once he started to realize that he could go practice on his own and create his own success, he gave golf all of his attention. He started playing in a lot of local junior events in the Long Beach area like Toyota Tour cups, SCGA events, then a few AJGAs. He started his college career at Pepperdine University where he was making the lineup, but felt he needed a school that better fit him as a player so he went in the transfer portal. A couple months later he found himself coming back to where he was born and raised... Long Beach State University. He was a main contributor to the team over his years there and had quite a resume there. Hunter is currently a couple years into playing professional golf and has played on mini tours, PGA Tour Canada, and most recently gaining full status on the Sunshine Tour. He's looking to get the season underway in South Africa and potentially get into some big events. Enjoy the show!

Host Carl Lewis and golf punter Wade Pretorius preview the Hero World Challenge & SA Open Championship with Wade providing his best bets for both tournaments this weekend. SA Open Dating all the way back to 1893, the South African Open is the second oldest National Open in the world, with only the Open Championship, which was first staged back to 1860, dating back further. The South African Open has been co-sanctioned between the Sunshine and DP World Tour since 1997. Last year's edition was also scheduled to be a co-sanctioned event but due to COVID-19 travel restrictions in place in the UK from South Africa the majority of DP World Tour players withdrew and the event was revised as a sole-sanctioned Sunshine Tour event. Dean Burmester's very decent recent form figures in his homeland, reading 4-2-1-43-4-2-18-2, include his two fourths in the last two editions of this event and he's been in reasonable form this year with an 11th placed finish in the Open Championship and a fourth in the Sanderson Farms Championship on the PGA Tour the highlights. His prestigious length off the tee should be an asset this week but his very recent form is a bit disappointing, reading 37-32-MC-54, and I'm happy to swerve him. Branden Grace, who won the first of the two editions staged in 2020, has been plying his trade on the LIV Tour of late and to some success too. Grace won the LIV Golf Invitational Portland in July and after a quiet spell he finished inside the top-ten at the Nedbank Challenge last time out in what was his first appearance in his homeland since he won this title almost three years ago. Charl Schwartzel also plays on the LIV Tour now he too has tasted success, winning the first event staged there - the LIV Golf Invitational London in June. Schwartzel is still looking to win his national title for the first time but he hasn't played in the last couple of editions of the event either so taking the title can hardly be described as a burning desire. World Hero Challenge The PGA TOUR pops back into the frame to squeeze in one more event before the new year. This week's field is capped at just 20 golfers who are guaranteed four rounds of action and at least a couple OWGR points for their effort. Last year's winner, Viktor Hovland, scooped up 48 OWGR points last year while last-place finisher, Jordan Spieth, grabbed 2.4 points for his showing. The Course The host venue this week is Albany, an Ernie Els design that was established in 2010. Albany is unique as a desert-links style setup that almost looks like a video game creation. The scorecard shows a par 72 that stretches out past 7,400 yards. The course is unique in the hole-by-hole layout as there are five par 3s and five par 5s. It's a good balance as the abundance of par 3s puts an emphasis on smart and steady iron play while the par 5s often reward the elite drivers. On top of that, a pair of driveable par 4s also put a premium on controlling your metals/woods. Off the tee, golfers will see generous landing areas but plenty of sand and other trouble (bushes) waiting to gobble up errant tee balls. Water is in play on five holes. For turf, this coastal course features wall-to-wall bermudagrass that can be very tricky at times, particularly around the greens. Looking at the scoring environment, the weather dictates how low they can go at Albany. Bubba Watson won the 2015 edition at 25-under but the other five Albany champs have finished at 18-under or 20-under. That's probably tougher than you might expect for a resort course with five par 5s but that goes to show how the plethora of par 3s and a few tough par 4s help offer a good scoring balance.

Newly appointed Sunshine Tour Commissioner Thomas Abt has taken over at one of the most precarious times in sporting history. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on sport in general, and on golf in this case, is likely to be profound. Holly G is in the studio with guest host Kevin Sternett, assistant pro at Golden Bear Club at Keene's Point, and Social Media pro Will Perry, EVVUS. Former writer for the Orlando Sentinel Jeff Shain, the Island Packet Hilton Head, S.C. and PGATour.com, calls in to talk to Holly about Branden Grace's win at the RBC Heritage on the PGA Tour. Jeff had the opportunity to sit down and discuss Bryson DeChambeau who just turned pro and is already a third of the way to gaining the FedEx Cup points he needs to get his special temporary PGA Tour status. DeChambeau is a big believer in the science and art of golf and the marriage between the two. He has single length irons and most of his bag of Cobra Puma Golf clubs the same length. Holly and Jeff also discuss DeChambeau's clubs. Kevin talks about the 70-degree plane that DeChambeau uses for all his clubs which is not typical of any golfer. Jeff said that although Branden Grace might be new to the U.S. viewers, he has already won 10 times overseas. He also talks about Luke Donald coming close but not winning lately especially at the RBC Heritage each time he competes there. Holly catches listeners up on some of the headlines going on around the golf world. SwingClick Golf, Liesel Niehaus, International Sales director and Mike Quinn, former Sunshine Tour player and Managing Director for SwingClick, talk with Holly about the featured product on the Golf Insiders. Liesel said that the SwingClick can help your game in several ways, but the basis is that it helps you complete your backswing. Sometimes we lose our rhythm and timing. Mike and Holly talk about Jordan Spieth losing his rhythm. With the SwingClick you hear 3 audible clicks that help create the muscle memory with your swing. Everyone's swing length is different. No one size fits all for the top of the backswing. The key is to find the top of you backswing and that is where if you swing properly, the SwingClick makes the first audible click at the top of your backswing. The second audible click is at impact and the third click is after complete follow through. At the PGA Show this year, SwingClick launched the SwingClick PLUS which is a sleeker, more aerodynamic model. Holly talks to Mike and Liesel about Phil Mickelson's mission to have people play the game golf for a lifetime and do it injury free using a less violent swing. The SwingClick can help develop a smooth, slow methodical swing. Mike said that Sam Snead played golf at an advanced again and was successful because of his smooth, non-violent swing. The emphasis is not always on distance but accuracy. Holly talks to Mike about Grace's win and is 14th in the Official World Golf Ranking. Fellow South African is getting better and better and Ernie Els has a lot of faith in Branden's ability. Mike said that Grace is getting better as he is getting older. SwingClick PLUS is available at www.AMAZON.com, (search SwingClick) and enter the code "HOLLYG33" to receive a 20% discount on the SwingClick PLUS. Make sure to follow the Golf Insiders on Facebook and Twitter. Dr. Bob Winters, Sports Psychologist from David Leadbetter Academy, Mental Conditioning Coach and renowned author, calls in to talk to Holly G and the crew about Ernie Els' 7-putt at the Master's on his first hole. Dr. Bob says that there are two types of "yips" Type 1 and Type 2. Dr Bob talks about "freezing" while putting. The brain is always looking for something new and a new product or new method usually helps you fix problems with your putting and your swing. Els said he got his hands higher and changed his grip. Dr Bob said that for the brain it's like laying down mental train tracks. When you have a break in the "train tracks" it throws your game off. The key is to have a solid routine. His latest book is "Mistake Free Golf." Todd Lewis, The Golf Channel, calls in to wrap up the show and speaks with Holly G about Branden Grace's win at the RBC. Holly later asks Todd about Curtis Reed, Mr 57. Very few people have been able to bring their success from a "lower tier tour" to a major tour. Great little side story to watch, Todd talks about a chance meeting with Bryson DeChambeau last year at an Irish restaurant in San Francisco. SMU, DeChambeau's collegiate team at the time, was playing in a local tournament and DeChambeau came up and introduced himself to Todd. Not too long after that, DeChambeau won the NCAA Championship and the U.S. Amateur Championship. Todd and Holly also talk about Phil Mickelson and his unraveling at the Masters this year. Todd said that Mickelson commented that he didn't manage the course at Augusta well this year, which was disappointing since Mickelson was doing really well leading up to the Masters. Holly also talks to Todd about Rory McIlroy and his recent admission that he has some mental hurdles to overcome before he can win at Augusta. Holly closes the show asking Todd when Tiger Woods might return ... it will probably be after the U.S. Open this year.

Match play competition between the USA and the International squad begins Wednesday night with Korea being 13 hours ahead of the USA in time. Jay Golden, Winter Pines Golf Course in Winter Park, Fla., and PGA Instructor, calls in to the show to talk about one of his students on the Web.com Tour earning his PGA Tour card for the 2016 season. Jay is the swing coach for Rob Oppenheim who suffered heartbreak in the 2014 Web.com Tour Championship finishing 26th and just missing his PGA Tour card by one spot. This year Oppenheim finished in the final spot, #25, and was the last player to earn his Tour card for the 2016 PGA Tour season. He was 28th when he finished and got in his car with his family and left. His phone started going crazy with all of the texts he was getting saying Congratulations, "You're No. 25." So he turned around and drove back to the golf course. Jay said that Rob is 35 and never quits. A Rollins College grad, Oppenheim lives in the Central Florida area. Jay has been working with Oppenheim for years now. Jay also caddied for Rob for half of the tournaments this year which is invaluable is a dream as a coach, Golden said. Jay said watching Rob hit on the driving range and then watching him play in the tournaments and how he reacted under pressure really helped Jay be a better coach for Rob. Jay's advice is that if you are going to be great at one thing in golf, be a great putter and then also be good at chipping. Mike Quinn, Managing Director Swingclick and former Sunshine Tour player in South Africa calls in to talk about South Africa and their golf programs. Mike said the weather is nice year round, the golf courses are great, and the competition is very tough and those are some of the reasons why the South Africa turns out several great players. Mike and Holly talk about some of the top South African players on the Tours now. Ernie Els, Louis Oosthuizen, Brandon Grace, and others. Holly also asks Mike about how match play is different than stroke play? Does it benefit the International Squad? Why do you think that the USA does so well in the Presidents Cup as opposed to the Ryder Cup? Mike talks about Swingclick a swing training aid that helps with your rhythm, timing, tempo with an audible click at each of the three major points of your swing: backswing, impact and follow through. Australian Dean Hernden, professional caddie for LPGA player In Gee Chun who won the 2015 U.S. Women's Open, calls in live from South Korea to talk about the President's Cup among other things in golf. Dean is an Orlando resident. He said that an advantage for the US team is that they know one another a lot better than some of the International players do. There are 5 rookies on each team. Holly asks Dean about Jason Day a fellow Australian. Dean said that Jason is a very humble guy. Steve Eubanks, Global Golf Post, calls in to wrap up the hour of intelligent golf talk. Holly asks Steve about the President's Cup and the players on each team. It's never 1, 2 or 3 players on your team that cost you the tournament, it's the 9th, 10th and 11th players on each team. Holly reads what Jordan Spieth said recently about the differences between the Presidents Cup teams and the Ryder Cup ... it seems that there is a bit of a difference in the USA's team rooms for the Presidents Cup as compared to the Ryder Cup teams. Spieth said that the US is confident and somewhat cocky in the Presidents Cup setting and not as relaxed for the Ryder Cup. Steve and Holly talk about South Korean PGA player Sang Moon Bae who is playing in his last event has to take a break and serve his time in the military as do all South Korean men.
