Over the last couple of years, the United States has been amplifying its divide over social disparities. In 2020, those causes have become central to the shared imagination of people, amplified of course by the sudden task of staying at home. During the last couple of weeks, the Supreme Court has decided on matters of social importance and delivered their judgment for the LGBTQ+ and DACA communities. In the coming weeks, the decision on early pregnancy termination also known as abortion and the choice for women to have this procedure done in the state of Louisiana will be tested with repercussions for the nation. So today, let us start with the story of Grace who shares with us her experience of pregnancy termination. -------------------------------- Patreon: patreon.com/disruptiveadventism -------------------------------- Thousand Fell: https://www.thousandfell.com/ Huge thanks to Podcorn for sponsoring this episode. The church is armed with mid-century tactics for evangelism and growth the church has mostly resisted the changing technological revolution that has taken place in the world. When I was in high school, I participated in a play about colonization at my school. I was portraying an indigenous person at the time and wore some of the sacred items from that specific group of the population in my country. I even had to wear makeup in order to resemble more closely the features of that indigenous group. Today, I see that episode of my history and feel shame because of how I treated someone else's cultural heritage. Shiphrah Fepulea'i guides us through the topic of Cultural Appropriation and how to respect and celebrate the cultural diversity of the world! _________________________________ Sponsors: AdvenTV: https://adventv.app/ Huge thanks to Podcorn for sponsoring this episode. I love debates. Don't you? New ideas, new solutions, common ground. Debates are usually between humans in order to solve human problems. Yet, what happens when the human and the divine have a debate? Can we win? Should we fight? Are we even allowed to questioned what the Divine says and does? Today on Disruptive Adventism, we talk about this topic and more with Matthew Korpman, a theologian finishing his studies at Yale Divinity School. In his new book, Saying No To God, he delves into the topic of the divine human relationship and how we must fight God and get blessings from him.
