PAPERTOWN refers to the town of Canton, North Carolina, whose economy revolves around a local paper mill, owned by Pactiv Evergreen. The town's got less than 4,500 people and 1,200 of them work for the mill. When Pactiv unceremoniously announces the mill's closure within a few months, the town reels, scrambling to understand how their lives, businesses, schools will be affected by the ripple of the mill's absence. Director Jeremy Seifert d. oesn't harp on an elegy to this way of life, rather focusing on the communal bonds that remain. It strips away the bond of coworkers into something more human, something stemmed out of common culture and neighborliness. As America increasingly becomes a post-industrial nation, what is to come of these often rural manufacturing centers? How does economy influence sociology?---PAPERTOWN is currently playing at Mountainfilm 2026 in Telluride, Colorado.Listen to my interview with director Jeremy Seifert hereFollow The Movies on Instagram & LetterboxdThrow a couple dollars in the tip jar!
On this episode of the Give Me Liberty Podcast, Ryan Helfenbein sits down with Sarah Gabel Seifert, founder and CEO of EveryLife, America's first pro-life diaper company, to discuss motherhood, America's collapsing birth rate, and the culture's growing hostility toward family and children. Sarah shares why she launched the “Rethink Pregnancy” initiative alongside pro-life OBGYNs, how modern feminism has taught women to fear motherhood, and why pregnancy is not a burden to escape but a gift from God. The conversation dives into:The anti-family agenda in corporate AmericaWhy companies funding abortion contradict their own customer baseAmerica's demographic decline and collapsing birth rateThe spiritual and physical benefits of motherhoodPain, sacrifice, and purpose in family lifeWhy “find God, get married, make babies” is becoming a countercultural messageIn a world that increasingly treats children as obstacles and pregnancy as a disease, this episode is a bold defense of life, family, and God's design for men and women.

In Session 331, I sat down with Dr. Ben Seifert to talk about some of the most challenging — and important — work happening in applied behavior analysis today: supporting individuals with severe problem behavior. Ben shared his journey into the field, beginning with his early experiences at Lindamood-Bell and later at BACA under the mentorship of Carl Sundberg and others who helped shape his clinical perspective. Along the way, we discussed what originally drew him toward working with clients who many providers often avoid, and why he remains deeply committed to ensuring that all individuals have access to meaningful, compassionate support. We spent a good amount of time talking about trends in the ABA marketplace, including the growing difficulty families face when trying to access services for older learners or individuals with significant behavioral challenges. Ben offered thoughtful commentary on how insurance systems, staffing pressures, and private equity may be influencing the types of services many organizations are willing to provide. Ben also shared several fascinating clinical stories that highlight the importance of long-term relationship building, careful observation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. One particularly memorable discussion centered around learning to identify subtle behavioral indicators of physical discomfort that would have been easy to miss in a traditional assessment framework. Toward the second half of the conversation, we shifted into supervision, staff training, and burnout prevention. Ben made a compelling point that supervisors should think of new staff members almost like new learners — people who require shaping, reinforcement, feedback, and support rather than immediate criticism when challenges arise. We also talked openly about clinician mental health, psychological safety within organizations, and the importance of creating environments where people can ask for help. Finally, Ben shared advice for newly certified BCBAs, including the importance of collaboration, humility, and learning from the frontline staff who often know clients best. This was a thoughtful and deeply practical conversation that I think clinicians, supervisors, and graduate students alike will get a lot out of. In this episode, we discuss: Ben's path into behavior analysis Early mentorship experiences at BACA His early career experiences at the Central Texas Autism Center What led him to found Collaborate ABA Why severe problem behavior services are becoming harder to access Insurance and marketplace pressures affecting clinical care The importance of interdisciplinary collaboration Clinical case examples involving subtle behavioral indicators Long-term relationship building with clients and families Supervision strategies for supporting RBTs and frontline staff Staff burnout and mental health Advice for newly certified BCBAs Reach out to Ben on LinkedIn, or follow Collaborate ABA in Instagram! For Episode 173, Chris and Alex introduce the films of Michel Ocelot with this close look at the filmmaker's successful animated adventure film - loosely based on a West African folktale - Kirikou and the Sorceress (Michel Ocelot, 1998). The discussion into the film's articulation of magical realism, power, and struggle features special guest Lewis C. Seifert, who is Professor of French and Francophone Studies at Brown University. Lewis' research interests encompass early Modern France, gender and sexuality studies, folk narratives, and the environmental humanities, and he is the author of Fairy Tales, Sexuality, and Gender in France, 1690-1715: Nostalgic Utopias (Cambridge University Press, 1996) and Manning the Margins: Masculinity and Writing in Seventeenth-Century France (University of Michigan Press, 2009). Listen as the trio reflect on hyperrealism, Ocelot's expressive and experimental pictorial styles, and the structural influence of fables upon the narrative; registers of innocence and intelligence in the depiction of Kirikou; tensions between the individual and the disassociation of community, alongside the function of empathy and superstition within the status of magic; and the possible risks of reading Kirikou and the Sorceress through a predominantly orientalist and essentialist lens. **This episode was produced and edited by Menelik Thaim-Lee* **Fantasy/Animation theme tune composed by Francisca Araujo** **As featured on Feedspot's 25 Best London Education Podcasts** **As featured on MillionPodcast's Best 10 UK Animation Podcasts and Best 60 Movie Podcasts in the UK**

This episode of Rethinking God with Tacos is a raw, live-recorded conversation exploring some of the most difficult theological questions—wrath, hell, suffering, justice, and human brokenness—through the lens of a God who is fundamentally love. Recorded at Grace Orlando for the Sacred Undoing Conference, the throughline is a radical reimagining of God not as a distant judge but as a restorative presence, whose “wrath” is the fiery, healing force of love that seeks to destroy everything in us that is not of love's kind, without ever harming our true identity. Through stories, humor, and honest dialogue, the conversation challenges traditional frameworks around sin, sacrifice, church, and judgment, reframing them as misunderstandings rooted in separation thinking, while inviting listeners into a deeper vision of union, restoration, and a God whose relentless affection aims to make us fully alive. We have our semi-finalists as the last episodes of the drama series that is the Super8 stage concluded with a double feature overnight as South Africa put away Zimbabwe and India got home in their game against the West Indies. The India x West Indies was a virtual quarter-final decided by one man as Sanju Samson played the innings of a lifetime to anchor India in chasing down 199 in the final over. In a game that hung in the balance for so long a few key moments here and there proved the difference as Baldy and Raj broke down terrific batting performances by both sides. In an interesting aside Baldy and Raj break down the balance of the Indian side going forward as Axar went unused with the bat and only five bowlers were used. Is there another gear that India can go to with a tweak to their lineup? For the West Indies this concludes a terrific tournament for them - they've come oh so close to a semi-final berth but it is India that is through to the semis against England. We also recap the South Africa x Zimbabwe encounter. South Africa made several changes all of which seemed to pay off against Zimbabwe as Maphaka and Nortje made telling inroads with the ball early. Sikanda Raza did everything to keep Zimbabwe hopes alive but South Africa proved too strong with too many options in the end. Looking ahead to the semi-finals. What needs to go right for New Zealand to get ahead of South Africa? Baldy seems to think that Phillips will have something to say. The showdown at the top of the order between Seifert and Allen versus the length bowling of Ngidi and Rabada looms as a key moment. For India and England, which superstars from either side will step up in what promises to be an enticing affair? Will we see the best of Buttler and Abishek who have been quiet all tournament? We'll be back in your feed again tomorrow with the next instalment of our T20 World Cup coverage. What if the most countercultural thing you could do right now was say yes to family? In this deeply affirming conversation, Ginny Yurich sits down with Sarah Gabel Seifert, co-founder and president of EveryLife, to explore why children are gifts and how slowing down to raise them can become the most life-giving self-care of all. Sarah and Ginny invite listeners to rethink modern scripts about career, timing, and what truly satisfies. One night, Sarah Gabel Seifert fell asleep and had a dream that would change the course of her life. She found herself in a factory in a war-torn land, stumbling into a room filled with empty cribs and women on operating tables. When she awoke, she knew: God was calling her to a mission. Years later, that mission took an unexpected form when He placed on her heart the idea to found a pro-life diaper company.
