I had a great time interviewing star Josh Brener and director Cutter Hodierne for this film. It's a fun film, a new take on a heist film in the crypto world, with a fantastic cast, great storyline and is well directed. Check out Cold Wallet this Friday on VOD or in a theater near you. The synopsis of the film is…After losing everything in a cryptocurrency scam, a ragtag team of vigilante Redditors tries to kidnap the kingpin who ruined their lives. However, when the home invasion takes a turn for the worse, they find themselves victims in a sadistic game.Hot Buttered Rum (thespruceeats.com):Ingredients 2 teaspoons packed brown sugar 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened 1 splash pure vanilla extract 1 dash ground cinnamon 1 dash ground nutmeg 1 dash ground allspice 2 ounces dark rum 4 ounces hot water Cinnamon stick, for garnishDirections Place the sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and spices into the bottom of an Irish coffee glass or mug and mix well or muddle. Pour in the rum and top it with hot water. Stir and garnish with a cinnamon stick. Serve and enjoy.Cold Wallet Drinking Game:Drink when… you see snow or a bitter landscape. you see an animal head. you see an archaic weapon. the crypto (TULIP) goes up or down. someone looks at their phone screen. As always, drink responsibly and with others. Mother Nature is a motherf**ka! The Boys raise their glasses to those affected by the LA wildfires. Ricky's also feeling sore after an unpleasant medical procedure, Julian checks out a new rum drink, and there's a lot of borntdays to celebrate. Plus: Look the f**k out when British Randy's trousers come off!
Possibly the best way to enjoy Rum, according to Uncle Brad, is in a Hot Buttered Rum. It's warm, holiday spices, and who doesn't like the richness of butter? If you've never had one, don't get all judge-y on us, this is lights out good. UB gives us a fool proof recipe and Jules puts a time period appropriate twist on it with Applejack, pecans, and maple syrup. Stick around for the colonial history behind the drink and we answer @annagouboy's question, “what are some good bottle combinations for gift giving”. As músicas deste episódio são "Cats Searching for the Truth", de Nat Keefe & Hot Buttered Rum, e "Green Leaves, do Audionautix". Leia o blog do #ForadaPolíticaNãoháSalvação no site da CartaCapital. We are super excited this week to. have Erik Yates of Hot Buttered Rum as our guest on No Simple Road. Erik spent his Bay Area youth trying nearly every instrument and style he came across. Piano lessons, saxophone quartets, garage bands and folk songs had all weaseled their way into his life by the time he hit high school. College in Portland, OR, where he studied music and writing, brought new musical horizons, new conspirators (including classmate Nat Keefe) and a new project, Hot Buttered Rum, which would soon take over his life.We sit down with Erik to talk about his experience going to school in Western Oregon and the Bluegrass scene there, why, to him, bluegrass feels like the most honest music to play, how and why Hot Buttered Rum got their start, the ways in which playing music overlaps with ones personality, how the new album 'Shine All Night' came into being, how it feels to have your music released into the world for people to experience, and much more! For tour info, merch, music, and more, head over to: www.hotbutteredrum.netMake sure to check out the new album 'Shine All Night' everywhere you stream your tunes! No Simple Road Intro Music Created By ESCAPERFREE SHIPPING from Shop Tour Bus Use The PROMO CODE: nosimpleroadFor 20% off Sunset Lake CBD PROMO CODE: NSR20Make Sure to visit our friends at Fire On The Mountain for some amazing food at one of the 3 locations in the Portland area or one of the 2 locations in the Denver area!Check out the exclusive, limited edition SMARTWOOL / GRATEFUL DEAD collaboration HERE!!! Taraleigh and Leah chat with guitarist, producer, and master of beats Nat Keefe. Nat shares all the ways he is bringing live music to the people including being an original member of Hot Buttered Rum, his new electronic project BeatMower, intimate acoustic gigs strengthened by the pandemic, and as a producer of other creators' music. In addition, Nat talks about his travels documenting West African dances for the Awudome tribe in Ghana and collaborating and recording with Zambian and Rwandan musicians in early 2020 which he mixes for his Beatmower sets. Nat discusses how the social context plays a role in the live music experience and how all of these creative pursuits keep him firing on all cylinders. The three also discuss similarities in music and dance across cultures and what we can learn from traditional communities like the Awudome. Not to be missed is Nat's take on what makes a “hot show” and how everyone's participation is a part of that. For the “Did you Know,” Leah shares her thoughts and passion for live music participation for all involved, including fans, and Taraleigh offers an opportunity to notice what happens when you bring yourself fully to the experience in the “Daily Jam.”You can access the Awudome traditional dances that Nat discusses in the interview here: https://youtu.be/kAA_3t4xSdENat Keefe is known for bringing both joy and solace to the many thousands of people in his audience. In 1999 he co-founded the bluegrass band Hot Buttered Rum with Erik Yates, a friend he'd met three years prior when they were sophomores in college. Over the last twenty years they've lit up some of the best festival stages in the world, including Telluride Bluegrass, Newport Folk, Bonnaroo, Strawberry, Hardly Strictly, and High Sierra, though Nat will admit a personal highlight was performing the National Anthem before a SF Giants playoff game. To the delight of their fans, Hot Buttered Rum continues to write, record, and tour. Their latest album, “Something Beautiful,” was released in April of 2020.In February 2020 Nat traveled with Hot Buttered Rum to Rwanda and Zambia. Nat's community rallied behind him and raised $7000 for a new recording studio rig. He recorded several musicians in both countries, and these sounds comprise much of Nat's DJ dance music project, BeatMower. A BeatMower set is a mix of original sounds recorded in California, Rwanda, Zambia & Ghana, mixer- and laptop-controlled samples and loops, and vinyl turntable tracks, along with occasional musical guests who weave their own collaborative improvisations. Some like to call this original and provocative upbeat dance mix “Afrograss.”In addition, Nat has produced two-dozen records for other artists, including Kyle Ledson, Fruition, The She's, and many others. For Nat, producing – helping people refine and create their vision – is equally as important as performing. This podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Caitlin is back sharing another delicious cocktail. This time, she’s drawing inspiration from the traditional Hot Buttered Rum, using coffee. If you missed her first episode where she breaks down one of the most delicious cocktails we had all year, check out Season 5 / Episode 02. Enjoy this episode as we go Beyond the Drink… with Caitlin Smith. (cocktail recipe below) Warm and Fuzzy Makes 1 Drink This drink is inspired by my New England roots and the classic Hot Buttered Rum cocktail. I’ve switched it up to match my love for coffee. 1.5 oz Vodka, preferably vanilla flavored .5 oz Smoked Rum 1 Tablespoon Compound Butter (recipe below) .5 oz Pecan Syrup (recipe below) Hot coffee Combine the vodka, smoked rum, butter and syrup in a coffee cup and pour hot coffee over the top. Use a handheld milk frother to incorporate all of the ingredients into the coffee. Sprinkle crushed dark chocolate espresso beans over the top. Habanero-Piloncillo Compound Butter: Add one cup of water and two piloncillo cones to a small sauce pot or pan. Depending on your desired spice level preference, add 1-2 halved habaneros and simmer until the piloncillo is fully dissolved and then remove the habaneros. In a stand mixer or with a handheld mixer, start whipping 1 pound of softened butter. Slowly add in some of the habanero-piloncillo syrup, to taste, while still keeping the integrity of the butter. Pecan Syrup: 1 cup toasted pecans 1 cup dark brown sugar 1 cup water 1 cinnamon stick Add all ingredients to a small sauce pot or pan, bring to a light simmer and let reduce by about half. This episode is brought to you by Deep Eddy Vodka. Check out our Beyond the Plate Merch. Follow us on TW, FB & IG: @btplatepodcast / #btplatepodcast

We have all certainly earned a decadent treat this holiday season. While you could whip up a big bowl of Eggnog, there’s another traditional (and no-less rich) concoction we recommend: Hot Buttered Rum. This delicious mix of dark rum, hot water and—you guessed it—butter is historic and delightfully appropriate for the season. On this episode of the podcast Life Behind Bars, co-hosts David Wondrich and Noah Rothbaum are joined by award-winning Half Full columnist Wayne Curtis to debate the different methods of making Hot Buttered Rum and to discuss why rum has historically played such a significant role in holiday drinks and desserts. So fix yourself a cocktail and listen to this episode of Life Behind Bars. Cheers!Life Behind Bars features Half Full’s editor Noah Rothbaum and its Senior Drinks Columnist David Wondrich as they discuss the greatest bartenders and greatest cocktails of all time. It won the 2018 Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Award for the world’s best drinks podcast.Edited by Alex Skjong See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Follow along on our adventure of blind taste testing 7 different kinds of dairy and non dairy butters to see which one tops our list to use in our hot buttered rum recipe.
The boys are smack dab in the holiday spirit, so what better way to acknowledge it than a holiday spirit? They're knocking back Matt's signature hot buttered rum mix (Justin's using whiskey, but we forgive him). There's also a holiday bottle guide for those of you in need of ideas, and we've got some news from the Japanese whisky world. Bottoms up!
For far too long, hot cocktails have been lumped in with dessert drinks and made increasingly sweeter with honey, sugar, cider and even ice cream. But the classic recipes for these steaming concoctions are, in fact, not overly sweet—and quite delicious. So delicious, in fact, that it’s time to give hot cocktails another shot.On this episode of the award-winning podcast Life Behind Bars, co-hosts David Wondrich and Noah Rothbaum discuss the origins of these warming cocktails and how they have evolved over time, as well as share their favorite recipes for the Hot Toddy, Hot Buttered Rum and Irish Coffee. So mix yourself a drink and listen to this episode of Life Behind Bars. Welcome to Atlanta, Georgia and the 5th Anniversary of the Jeff Galloway Half Marathon Weekend! RUN This episode features Barb's 5K, the first race in our weekend celebrating the 5th Anniversary of one of our favorite races. We also got the chance to run with some great people from the Extra Mile Podcast Group. If you have not listened to the Extra Mile Podcast or Extra Mile Podcast: Galloway Edition, you are missing out. Kevin Gwin is the host of these two awesome podcasts about running and this group is so motivational. We ran through Piedmont Park. Although it was wet, raining, and very cold compared to Florida weather normally, we had a blast with these people and in the beautiful setting of the park. Barb Galloway even met us at the finish and congratulated us on finishing the race. We loved every minute! We hope you'll join us next year! EAT Whenever we come to Atlanta, we make it a tradition to eat at Trader Vic's. Home of the original Mai Tai, their food is also an amazing taste of the South Pacific. We had the Pupu Platter called Cosmo Tidbits on their menu. Ribs, perfectly battered and fried shrimp and delicious ribs from their unique wood-fired ovens that you can see as you sit and sip on your Mai Tai. We also had their delicious Morel Mushroom appetizer. It is a must-have from their menu. These appetizers are why we almost never get to the main entree. We also had a Hot-Buttered Rum as part of our dessert. Buttery, cinnamon, and sweet flavors warm you from head to toe. (I know this is the eating portion, but it was so good, I couldn't help but mention it.) If you come to Atlanta, come to Trader Vic's. Their entrees are also dynamite, but their appetizers are shareable and very filling. DRINK Right after Barb's 5K, we went to Orpheus Brewing. They hosted a special event celebrating Barb's 5K and letting us try their tasty beer. We had a Stout and a couple of sours they had on draft in a beautiful snifter commemorating the race weekend. We hope they continue this tradition for years to come because the after party had tasty beer and great runners to hang out with and celebrate. THAT'S A WRAP Thank you for watching! Here's hoping for a great second year of the podcast because of all your support! Please subscribe and rate us on iTunes. We would love to hear your feedback and need your help getting discovered as a podcast! Follow us on our website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

An interview with the inspirational ultra-marathon runner of the Endurance 50 Back in 2006 ultra distance runner Dean Karnazes performed an amazing stunt. Over the course of 50 days he ran 50 marathons in each of the 50 United States. An inspiring feat to be sure, running 26.2 mile every day and then traveling quickly by car to the next state and do it again. But what was especially interesting to Dean and me too with I spoke to him were the stories of the many people he met along away. Dean Karnazes is touring the country as part of The North Face Speakers Series. And in anticipation of an upcoming visit here to Madison, WI I'm treating you this week to a Joy Trip flashback from an interview I recorded with Dean in 2007. You'll be surprised how some who inspires so many can be inspired by others. You can learn about Dean Karnazes and his career in running online just visit the athletes page at the North Face.com Music by the band Hot Buttered Rum
