Welcome to the aural pleasurezone: I Feel For You also known as a podcast, where we ponder and chew the cud of life and all its wonder and delicious weirdness. A thing you can, or might listen to, perhaps whilst somewhere tedious. Or on the move going about your day with elegant and regal splendour.…
Have you ever felt it's time to get up and out of a job, relationship or situation? But then start questioning or doubting yourself? Worrying that quitting somehow makes you a failure? I feel you. I've been there too. So in today's podcast i wanted to share a personal story, from my time of living and working onboard a superyacht in Monaco… Yeah, i know, it's weird isn't it? I often get asked about my past lives, and despite there being lots of cringe moments in this one (enjoy!), i wholeheartedly own them as they very much make me who i am. So I hope this story inspires you to appreciate all of the learning moments that have brought you to where you are today. Also, i hope it serves as a reminder and/or a prompt learning to tune into and trust yourself and your own inner guidance system so you can hear what you want. What you really want. (Ps not a timely clickbait spice girl reference because, well…) And the importance of making space and time to connect with yourself, often. I love you. And i hope there aren't too many gross references to bodily fluids in there!
In today's podcast, a rebroadcast of an episode i originally made in 2017 (BABY ME!) but it still feels relevant, for this moment. We're exploring how to "be". Things i spoke about: The magic in BEING (or pausing/loafing/liming/creating space) The "busy" neurosis Body wisdom How do we make being sustainable and realistic for us? Check in exploration Being vs Doing Feelings and presence Morning pages Making it real I really hope you enjoy the show! And if you do, please consider subscribing, and maybe even rating the show on iTunes so other likeminded good people can find it! Leave me a review and remember to leave your social handle so i can thank you directly! ❤️
In today's podcast, we're exploring how to take a holiday when you can't take a holiday, with lots of low to no cost ideas to rejuvenate your cells, wherever you are. I'm sharing something i wrote in 2018 which feels….apt at this time we're in, global pandemic and being at home… if you, like me, are yearning for a different perspective, i hope there's something here for you to lift your spirits. Many of us social distancing still, or exploring re-emergence. I really hope you enjoy it.
Todays podcast episode is a rebroadcast of a rebroadcast called ‘new year, new meh', which, at this moment still, wildly resonates with me, and wonder if it might do the same for you. Whatever time of year, and whatever season you're in, I hope this meets you where you are, and offers you encouragement, care and support. Whenever you 'celebrate', honour or mark a new year, just wanted to share a reminder that every day - every moment in the day - offers us the opportunity to start again, to begin, again, as many times over as we need. This episode is very much about new year and how we can take the pressure off of ourselves and recognise that we get to choose. We get to choose how we show up, and how we step into this newness with intention and realness in ways that feel GOOD, as opposed to making ourselves feel a bit crap for not keeping up, or not doing the things that we wanted to do, whatever that may or may not be.
In today's episode I'm setting the scene for transitions; Transitioning the season, transitioning something in life, you can apply in whatever way that feels good to you. This is a chapter preview from the audio book of my online programme ‘Take care of you: Autumn', an interactive and immersive journey to nurture your creativity and well being and inspire you through the season. i'm so excited to be running this autumn programme for the 5th year in a row (!) - I can't quite believe it. Thank you to everybody who has joined the journey, and welcome to those of you considering it. It's a self paced programme where you get to choose your own adventure (like the books in the 80s, but this is also a multimedia book thing) and it includes:
hello my friends, equinox greetings!
In today's podcast, some words of encouragement for those of you on the road with your creative journeys. Perhaps you're an artist, perhaps you are someone who is working multiple full time jobs and doing your creative stuff on the side. Maybe you are living and working with limitations. Perhaps you are someone who is in this world and feeling a little bit out of place. Especially if you've received ‘hate' or criticism or whatever for simply ‘doing you'… I hope these words can offer you some courage and maybe, some remembering.
In today's episode, I'm taking you with me to a balcony in the South of France. Outside - at last! I'm sharing some ideas about wonder and describing leaving home for the first time since March 2020 to return to this old homeland of mine (featuring James Baldwin) and the inevitable interconnected experience of being a working class artist… There's an offering / prompt later in the show too, and I'd love, if you feel like it, for you to share your response with me, so we might be able to create a space for each other! Thank you for listening! Here's some reminders: 1. Find the multimedia transcript here ✨ → https://dionne.substack.com/p/re-emergence-a-balcony-in-the-south 2. Come and join the conversation, read sweet offerings and share your response to the prompt for us to explore here in the community discussion thread
I originally wrote part of this podcast for my blog in January 2019, which bubbled up following conversations in more ‘mainstream' platforms about the abuse of minors. I hate this is ‘relevant' again, cause for Survivors, it's never been a trend. Last night, i attended a community twitterspace discussing recent (but decades old) conversations around yet another person and their enablers, which, due to them being ‘high profile' and thus granted power via systems in place, have continued to harm. I heard and felt the pain of many who bravely shared their stories, calling for change. I hate that we are still here. Calling out. Stepping forward and speaking up (and all the energy it takes to do so). Ever-hoping for change. I send all Survivors of abuse much care and healing. Please find resources over on my substack (dionne.substack.com), and feel welcome to share your own in the comments so we might be able to support one another.
in today's episode, if you make it to the end, apologies in advance for the Celine Dion interlude! It's- it's all…it's HAPPENING! It stayed in the edit! HERE WE ARE! Episode 86 and we're letting it all hang out and it's ok, we're friends, right? Or maybe not, we're just getting to know each other. Consensually. Always. Very important. Ok. this is one that's close to my heart. As always, i love to hear from you, how you're doing, and what you'd like to hear in this landscape. Feel welcome to reach out, leave me a voice note, and/or add your comment below. There's a transcript and some additions to the text I originally wrote over on my Substack, which has been altered with a very poignant Prince gif + extras from my additional comments from this podcast recording ;)You can check that out over here → https://dionne.substack.com/p/how-can-we-make-wellness-and-self?s=r PS I'm back on the road this summer 2022 - hopefully! Hope to see you there! More on that coming, especially if you're subscribed to my Digest → http://dionne.space/digest Thank you for being here, take care of you
In today's podcast episode…we're going on an artist date! Well…kind of. I'm talking about this tool as a potential portal for your own wonder and delight. A way to ignite or restore your soul, perhaps charge your creative spirt, as well as nurture your yearnings and desires. We're in the pleasurezone, baybeee!
In this podcast i'm sharing some storytime moments on what's been going on lately. Acknowledging the deep wisdom that can come from the darkest moments. Closing the ports and bringing things back to your centre. It's really been a practice in trust, (unlearning) hyper independence and (unlearning) masking. also practicing not hiding and taking up space through boundary explorations. playing with easy up, easy down resilience-building. and expression that feels safe (this is the sticky bit, but i'm invested! ) So staying with what is, practicing tenderness, compassion and acceptance for what is, essentially doing the best i can with what i got! And as you might expect, i also share some ideas 4u to explore, whether you're experiencing something similar in resonance or just want some evergreen tools. i really hope this podcast helps support you in remembering who you are, as well as offers some free space for exploration. And I also want to honour space for not needing to Do (capital d) or leap into self improvement with this or any idea I share. You know that though right? This life pie is a daily practice, a process, of being. Although, on our little walks through the world, we are interconnected. Interdependent. So to anyone else on the journey, i really hope that you might feel encouraged or comforted to allow space to dwell in your own process, to close ports if need be, and to bring it all back to your centre. As always, a reminder, this podcast pleasure zone is a conversation. I love to hear from you, so feel welcome to leave me a voice note, or contact me through → http://dionne.space And also, if you dig this episode, I'd really appreciate you sharing the love with your people (and animals!). Cause I love resonance and magic and spells by word of mouth, so whether that's you sharing the podcast, tagging me in your socials to share (I love a screenshot or video from where you're listening from), or leaving me a review which helps other likeminded humans find the show, I'm deeply appreciative to connect with you. Grateful that you're here! I hope you enjoy the show. This episode is for those of you struggling with the darkness of the winter months, who might be low on energy, motivation, struggling to keep up, or just generally have a case of the winter blues. - For those of you who suspect its something more that the winter blues, I recommend you reach out for help to feel better. Head to your doctor, speak to a therapist. Reach out for help. I'm not a therapist and this podcast isn't a substitute for therapy. In this episode I'm offering some tools and inspiration + practical ideas that are hopefully helpful in shifting your state. This is a rebroadcast of episode 24 that I made last winter(and an earlier broadcast from 2018), when I certainly needed to pep talk myself during the cold dark days. I hope it serves you to lift your spirits and to remind yourself of who that hell you are. Find all links and resources mentioned below or head to the show transcript on my blog for more! As we traverse these wild times, we're talking about re-emergence, negotiating boundaries and body wisdom - aren't we always? How do we stay centered as we negotiate boundaries when the news is constantly changing? What staves off the spiral? How do we feel safe and free? I have some ideas! So in today's podcast we are regulating our nervous system babyyyy with an embodiment chew! ”Whats that you might ask?” possibly with a screw-faceIt's a mini exploration and practice we can do together, with some storytime seasoning of course!”Why a chew?!” I don't know, i guess it's cause i don't like telling people what to do, rather, invite them to explore something in their own way, adding their own seasoning. Whatever happens on this journey, i hope it will meet you where you're at, and invite some spacemaking. And you know, i always love to hear from you, so reach out to me! Love, Dionne x and it wouldn't be right if i didn't share a visionboard of my personal pleasure: Find Prince exploring embodiment (in my mind) outdoors in the shownotes via www.dionne.space/podcastepisode/75 A reminder we get to tap into practice anywhere, anyway. enjoy!
i spent so long wondering what i could possibly to say to you, as i've been putting off sharing this podcast with you for so long. The reason? Well, some life stuff but really, truly, i think i was scared of sharing it. i've been scared of making any public moves lately. a lot behind curtains, camera off, hidden places. in that process of processing, needing time to figure out what i wanted to say, then getting so tied up in worrying i'm waiting to say the thing, and suddenly weeks go by. If you're in my Patreon gang, you probably have a gist of what's been going on, ‘cause i've been sharing there, but nowhere else, but i'll level with you. i recorded this podcast in one take as a stream of consciousness conversation with you in my head. does that sound weird? i was going to post it as it was then deferred - default mode took over help- wanted an intro. wanted it to be neater. perfect. which is impossible right? i wanted to hide but knew and know i have to be seen. we all do. that doesn't of course mean we have to scream or shout for attention. rather, that we will be seen, whether we realise it or not. whether we are shy or not. whether we hold back or not. is this making any sense? i wanted to explain. over-explain. i'm kind of doing that, but hopefully with purpose, to demonstrate the process! dear listener. if this resonates with you right now, i hope it comes with all the love and encouragement you can imagine. i want for us all to be free, in all ways, always. trust what you know and feel to be true. *** This episode was recorded on 6th may 2021 mid teacher training in a park with nature. ********************* Thank you to my Patrons for supporting me making this podcast and for keeping a majority of my work free! In today’s episode we’re revisiting the archives - self care and wellness for spring. It’s a deep dive my friends with what i hope is a feast for you to explore. We cover topics including: → the seasons and their impact on us → Ayurveda and how it can support us to find balance → we explore how we can sync up with the seasons - especially useful during transitions and when times feel weird - hello! → i share some things to consider and think about when exploring taking care of yourself in the springtime - lots of practical tips whether or not it’s spring where you are → we talk about fluids and mountains (not a euphemism!) → what a wu tang clan song has to do with immunity → we talk a bit about body stuff. the weird but real pressures. → we get into immediate ways to support yourself and shift your state - things you can do right now! → we talk about the paradox of balance and how to reframe it for real life → we also have some real talk about meditation and the challenges of it. So for those of you who don’t have a meditation practice, or those who might be pulling a face at me right now like, meh, whah? I really hope that bit is helpful. → I’ve got a treat for you as well: there’s also presents from me peppered like little bits of seasoning throughout this episode, free presents, which i hope will aid as an extra booster when exploring this stuff i want us all to be as well as we can be… you know? and right now, over a year into lockdown for me at least...i started social distancing on 12 march 2020 and i’m recording this on 18 march 2021… hello fam. hello friends. miss you very much. So yeah. i hope this offering is useful. And after listening through to it as i was writing a transcript for it, i realised it’s still applies and can be relevant despite lockdown, so think of this as a big distanced hug from me. and let me know how you go eh? i always love to hear from you. Today’s episode is based on a piece i wrote 16th February 2021 and was reflecting on my 40th year, pondering why i get energised around my birthday, and wondering whether fear was motivating me. So we talk about ageing. And societal pressures as we grow older, and i share some insights gained from trauma-i mean “learning moments and experiences” i’ve had on the journey. Lol. I hope you’ll find it an uplifting and hopeful episode. With love and thanks for listening. From this 41 year old by the time you hear this! Thanks for supporting the show! Hi my loves, i hope this finds you as well as can be. Today i’m sharing ideas about surviving these times with joy, rest, ease and tenderness. First off, thank you so much for listening to and supporting this podcast, special shoutout to my Patreon Fam who help make this possible. And if anything resonates with you in this episode, please feel welcome to pass it on and perhaps even share it with a friend, maybe take a moment to like and review the show. It means so much and i’d really appreciate it! Today’s episode is based on is a piece i wrote for VOKS magazine in Norway around September 2020 and…. you know, it was quwhite a year! I felt i wanted to offer some more words on rest, something i’ve been exploring on my own journey and as many of you know who listen to this show, rest has been a major part of my work and offerings since 2010, but to be honest, longer than that. And for a taste, you can head back to the 90s and early 00s with me in a previous podcast i’ll link for you in the shownotes. I am certain this journey has been a lifelong learning moment, for me at least, and i expect it will continue to evolve, and i really hope that some of the ideas that i’m sharing today might be useful in supporting someone out there to feel more at ease with their own relationship with rest, as well as offer some tips in how we can access this necessary tonic, particularly during these times. I believe rest is a powerful liberation practice, not just for ourselves, but for our communities. So i hope this envelopes you in soft duvets of tenderness. Lets you soak in your own rest fantasies and encourages you to make them accessible and real. I really hope you enjoy this episode. Recorded on the beach, 1st December 2020. 2020 has forced us to reexamine our relationship with a lot of things so expect swirls on topics including work worth + value productivity rest feeling enough guilt consumerism freedom inequality social media how we're in relationship with people + things etc. + questions like: how are we in relationship with work? how are we in relationship with ourselves? how do we feel enough? what do we value? what do we need? what are the non negotiables? how are we consuming? what is it we’re actually doing? - i’m more interested in that question as opposed to actually labelling something so that i can sell something and package it up (more here https://dionne.space/about ) hbu? and the crux: how can we live our lives with less tension? share your thoughts on any or all of the above via a swirl below! xx ps there’s a bit of wind early on but it eases off! More on my life in Monaco in podcast episode 23!
It’s hard and it’s real and we can’t ignore the hard sh✨t. But staying with ourselves and acknowledging (if possible what’s there. What hurts? What can we do about it? An offering: Stay with yourself. Find ways of being with yourself in a tender, loving way. Don’t feel you have to do something about things immediately and take on every single thing causing anguish and despair or anxiety. Ask, "what small adjustment can i make to offer myself some space and support?" Let's show up for ourselves and each other.
“ (…) when you're working on repatterning something or unlearning or learning something new or learning a new way of being in relationship with yourself, which is everything to do with sleep and rest, right? It's about allowing, it's about enabling yourself or giving yourself permission to step into this new place, this new relationship, this new way of being, - if you're approaching that with a tension, with a kind of hostility, it's not going to feel so good. There's just going to be pure resistance, pure bumps along the road. If you're at least starting from a place where you're just being tender and kind and as sweet as possible with yourself, i truly believe that it offers more space, more receptivity if you like. Because when we're open, we're more able to receive right? When we're contracted and closed off and maybe defensive, it's not so easeful. So, there's your challenge” Rest is the topic of this episode, which of course is vast, many of you who have been coming to my public yoga + movement + meditation events and talks over the last 10 years (10 years baybee!) will know that there's always ground to cover, but today, i thought it might be helpful for us to review our relationship with rest. Particularly at this moment in time. Expect a creative activity later in the show (of course) but as with everything, it’s optional, but if you’re into it, have a pen and paper handy or whatever you like to use to take notes. ...Should i wheel out that old dictaphone episode now? lol. In this episode I’m taking you outside with me for my first walk since self isolating. I’m sharing nostalgic musings, stories moving from a council estate to the countryside and ideas about we can practice touching feelings of freedom. Expect wanderings around topics like our inner child, cultivating your own safe spaces, memories and feelings. Hope it offers you inspiration, solidarity and a moment to hang and connect together, wherever you are. And wherever that is in the world, i really hope you are as safe and nourished as you can be. Maybe you’re coming back from a time away... Maybe you’re just going through something at the moment and don’t know what the answer is and don’t know how to move forward... or Maybe you’re in a process of healing from something challenging and you’re looking at ways to come back home... ...and for me, creativity is THE ONE! There are many things that are great, but many of you know, for the last 10 years, much of my work has been about implementing creativity into everything so if you’ve been to a yoga + movement event, or perhaps you’ve been to my art installation in Bryne or creative coaching so you’ll know all about that. So, here's an ode to how you can use creativity to overcome a setback. With some suggestions, a present (a zine!), a playlist plus more tools and tip to support you reconnect to all that you are!
Shoutout to emotions! Shoutout to nostalgia! Shoutout to melancholia! Shoutout to big life questions squaring up whilst wanting to weep and hide! Shoutout to laying in bed for hours hoping to sleep but instead be haunted by big life questions! Is this...40?! It’s my birthday on Saturday i mean Sunday lol. I say that cause i’ve been talking about turning 40 for the last 2 years. Think it’s mainly due to the surprise of actually, possibly making it here. The sheer relief of being fully-fledged Auntie age, whatever that is (think i’ve been Auntie since aged 9 actually, this is factually incorrect, more like 8 years old, 1988, tracksuit bottoms squashed into pixie boots and ski leggings around the low heel of my pixie boots..i'm not sure on the reason why i remember these garment moments in particular, perhaps it’s the working class angst of obsessively knowing everything in my wardrobe, be they hand-me-downs or gifted from loved ones. Also, this pixie boot-ski-legging “style moment” is a nod to my ultimate style icon, Nan, Phylis, or Philomena, depending on how boujee she would feel on any given day...) i digress..... I am embracing this season of my life with…. Gratefulness - mostly. Wonder - at how the hell i’m still here. Inquisitiveness - at where the next chapter will take me. Disbelief - at the many lives i’ve led so far and the white guy blinking face of how hard i have grafted to be right here and now. You know what that is? That’s growth.
In today’s episode, Ketil and i are sitting down to chew the cud, talking about our most recent project collaboration, HAUGTUSSA: Eit skogsbad, an art installation we made in Bryne, Norway.
2019. We made it! ✨ First just a note to say thank you for all your support. To each and every one who listens to this podcasts, sends me messages, leaves reviews and so on to support this labour of love which i create with love and send to you to hopefully offer you some space and freedom on this wild rollercoaster we call life! Whether or not you celebrate new year now, just wanted to share a reminder that every day every moment in the day offers us the opportunity to start again, to begin again. This episode is very much about new year and how we can take the pressure off of ourselves and recognise that we get to choose. We get to choose how we show up, and how we step into this newness with intention and realness in ways that feel GOOD, as opposed to making ourselves feel a bit crap for not keeping up, or not doing the things that we wanted to do, whatever it is. Instead we get to reframe, and connect in more meaningful and feel-good ways. This is a rebroadcast of episode 4 with a new intro i recorded yesterday after walking on the beach where i met my crow friend (Geoffrey)!
I’m not a therapist and this podcast isn’t a substitute for therapy. In this episode I’m offering some tools and inspiration + practical ideas that are hopefully helpful in shifting your state. This is a rebroadcast of episode 24 that I made last winter, when I certainly needed to pep talk myself during the cold dark days. I hope it serves you to lift your spirits and to remind yourself of who that hell you are. Find all links and resources mentioned in the shownotes or head to the show transcript on my blog for more! In today’s episode, I’m sharing a meditation with you, which is taken from Take Care of You: Autumn, a self paced online creative coaching programme exploring autumn, self care and creativity. The programme is running over the next couple of months, and features: * Exclusive yoga, movement and meditation videos. * Downloadable/streamable meditations. * Creative prompts and activities. * Heaps of resources, tips and information from my studies and practices over the last 20 years. We also explore: * How to ride out the transitions at our own (slower, more gentler pace) as we sit in the shadow for more hours of the day. * How to boost our immunity and take care of ourselves in sustainable, realistic and accessible ways. * How to reconnect with what we need, and show up for ourselves. * How to stay inspired, or find inspiration after a period of feeling disconnected. * How to explore pleasure, throughout the programme journey and beyond. and more. in a nutshell. Are you ready to be inspired by someone great? Someone who is out here on these streets living their life, being free by being completely and utterly themselves? Well, you are in the right place my darlings! And it’s one from the road, literally! I was lucky enough to catch the frank bowling exhibition at the tate britain last week, in its last days. Frank is an artist, and a caribbean king, born in guyana, in 1934 - and fyi he’s a pisces, to paint a picture, a february one um, yes! When he was really young, He moved with his family to new york, then new amsterdam - shoutout to colonialism, not, Then to the uk, again, colonialism and it’s hunger for coin eh? And whilst in the royal air force in 1953 he happened upon the national gallery with a mate who was also into art. And he had a moment. He was in his feelings as he soaked up artists like gainsborough, constable and turner. And it inspired him to study art - in a few places like Chelsea School of Art and the City and Guilds of London Art School, before winning a scholarship to the Royal College of Art alongside David Hockney. Another artist i dig. So frank was into colour. I mean, big time. Those of you who read my blog probably saw me post about Franks work a while back, in anticipation for this show and probably can imagine his work- if not, i’ll put a link for you in the shownotes to check out, alongside a new blog post featuring some moments during and after the show so feel welcome to head to my blog dionne.space if you fancy a visual to this episode. Because i’m sharing some dictaphone moments- cue alan partridge - ah ha! Following the show. I still feel drunk from this experience to be honest, not just the beauty of the work he created, but i feel so nourished and encouraged by parts of his story i didn’t know about, and wanted to bring you with me, you know? To share it and some excited thoughts and unhinged feelings and musings with you, which i really hope you’ll find inspiring too! I also have a special guest with me, Darling Desta, language afficionado and brilliant teacher, musician and oh so many things, who was my art date, dream conversation buddy, and fellow colour lover! Thank you so much desta for taking me - i appreciate you and your brilliant mind! Check out her links in the shownotes, where i will hook you up to her socials etc. So expect a dive into topics like particularly to do with working with limitations and age and colour and peaches and new york and norway and the WORK and house prices and what the hell we are here to do in the world! Expect ambiance from Landan town! And some singing! Hope you dig! *********** I love to hear from you, requests for show topics, thoughts, etc, so please reach out to me. Today's episode is a short, but hopefully effective one, and is for those of you who know what it is to occupy this weird space between holding grief and seeking joy. It’s in reference to recent news events but also addressing the times we live in, when news, newsfeeds and difficult stuff can feel so overwhelming that it can be hard to know what to do and how to get back to yourself so you can be most useful. I don’t know about you but when i hear about something horrific or witness terrible things in the news, it puts me in this weird state of hyper anxiety and numbness. It's hard to do anything at all. So i’m sharing 5 things that help me come back to my centre when occupying so many spaces and carrying so many feelings simultaneously. I also invite you to add your own so we can provide inspiration for others out there who are having a difficult time. Really hope this is useful. Let’s get into it. *********** I love to hear from you, requests for show topics, thoughts, etc, so please reach out to me. Today is an episode which is part July journal come pep talk come learning moment around the theme of body wisdom. The first part of the show i’ll update you on what’s been going on lately, and the second i’ll share a piece i wrote back in april 2019 which felt relevant, and i wanted to share it with you in the hope that it resonates and encourages you to pay attention to your own body’s wisdom. Cause it has a lot to say! I’ll also be sharing how i’ve been doing that, and how you might explore that in ways that work for you. So whether your body feels like a stranger, a friend, an enemy or a vague distant relative, i really hope this will be useful and empowering for you to reconnect with yourself, and all the wisdom that you contain so you can feel more free to be more you! *********** I love to hear from you, requests for show topics, thoughts, etc, so please reach out to me.
