Je suis particulièrement ravi d'ouvrir ce numéro avec un groupe "coup de cœur" (dès leur 1er album "One Step Closer" en 2023) : PLEDGE OF HEALING. Ravi et honoré de l'exclusivité car le duo formé par Claire et Cyril, revient avec un single qui sort seulement demain (25 septembre) sur toutes les plateformes (avec en plus une superbe vidéo). Ce titre : "Paradox" est un 1er extrait de l'album à venir dans quelques mois et que j'ai également eu l'honneur d'écouter cette semaine. Et je peux déjà  vous dire qu'il n'est pas tombé dans l'oreille d'un sourd ! Dès la 1ère écoute, l'émotion est là mais comme tout bon album prog il se doit d'être dégusté et écouté à plusieurs reprises pour en révéler toutes ses saveurs ! Le duo orléanais post-prog se positionne entre trip hop, electro et métal. J'y ai en effet retrouvé des sensations agréables telles que j'entends chez Mostly Autumn, Archive voire Tears For Fears (mais au féminin !) Merci à Claire et Cyril pour ce "Paradoxe" en avant-première, juste pour vous auditeur.ices de SUN !  Mais on n'a de toute façon pas fini de reparler de l'album que j'ai hâte de vous faire découvrir dans quelques temps et sans lire dans les astres, je prédis à ce futur opus un excellent accueil. Le duo a énormément travaillé pour en arriver là, et ça s'entend…  Soyez à l'affut !  L'industrie du disque est cynique. Si les artistes aujourd'hui ont plus facilement la possibilité de s'auto-produire, le plus dur est d'émerger de la jungle alors que dans les années 80, il fallait mieux signer chez une "major" si on caressait l'espoir d'être diffusé. Il fallait aussi parfois accepter quelques concessions. En 1981, l'album "The Wall" sorti deux ans avant est encore dans toutes les têtes, et son adaptation cinématographique d'Alan Parker est sur le point de sortir. Alors quand le batteur du groupe, NICK MASON,  veut prendre sa casquette de producteur (comme il l'a d'ailleurs déjà fait avec succès notamment pour "Rock Bottom" de l'ex Soft Machine Robert Wyatt), pour la musicienne de jazz américaine Carla Bley (décédée il y 3 ans), les requins du business n'acceptent de sortir le disque que sous le nom de Nick Mason. Bon, Carla Bley, autrice et compositrice de l'album profitera effectivement des retombées commerciales des ventes boostées par l'étiquette "Nick Mason de Pink Foyd", il faut parfois ravaler son amour-propre dans ce milieu impitoyable. C'est donc bien en réalité un album de Carla Bley produit par Mason mais sous son nom "Nick Mason's Fictious Sports" dont il s'agit avec, cerise sur la gâteau, un chant assuré par le fameux Robert Wyatt produit en son temps par le même Mason (mais Wyatt avait alors assez de notoriété pour le sortir sous son nom). Extrait de cet album, véritable bijou (et c'est bien là l'essentiel ! ) à (re)découvrir …. A la rentrée 2025 je rendais hommage à Rick Davies, fondateur de Supertramp. Un an déjà… Mais il y avait aussi une autre personnalité impliquée dans la création de ce groupe : ROGER HODGSON recruté par petite annonce et qui deviendra le "faiseur de tubes" de la formation, celui dont le grand public a retenu les chansons et la voix, jusqu'à son départ début des années 80 pour entamer une carrière solo ponctuée seulement de trois albums studio jusqu'à ce jour. Faut dire que le musicien s'était cassé les deux  poignets en bricolant chez lui après "Haï Haï" en 1987 et qu'ensuite il lui faudra tout le soutien de ses proches pour se remettre en selle. Quelques concerts fin des 90's puis une rencontre miraculeuse a lieu avec l'auteur compositeur nantais Alan Simon qui lui demande d'interpréter le Roi Arthur dans son projet de Rock Opéra "Excalibur" qui sort en 1998 aux côtés de musiciens de haut vol (tels que les Fairport Convention, Angelo Branduardi, Tri Yann, Malicorne ou encore Dan Ar Braz et j'en passe), avec une narration de "Merlin" incarnée  par Jean Reno ! Roger et Alan n'en resteront pas là puisque l'ex-Supertramp, outre sa participation aux représentations live de ce premier volet d'une longue saga en devenir, va s'installer chez le musicien nantais (à l'époque dans la région de Clisson au sud de Nantes) pendant deux ans au cours desquels ils vont façonner ensemble (Roger auteur-compositeur interprète et Alan en qualité de producteur) , le tant attendu et inespéré 3ème album studio de Hodgson : "Open The Door",  une vraie petite bombe à la croisée du prog, de la pop et de la world music. A mon humble avis le meilleur de l'ex-Supertramp. Depuis lors  (2000), malgré une période de forte activité scénique, aucun autre album original à signaler. L'artiste est rare, alors savourons un extrait de ce véritable chef d'œuvre  !  A ma connaissance, il s'agit d'un 1er album solo pour PAT WYREMBSKY , que vous connaissez peut-être sans le savoir si vous avez écouté le groupe Orion dont il fût membre fondateur en 1975 avant de participer par ailleurs à d'autres projets. Ce talentueux multi instrumentiste nous propose une œuvre ambitieuse ayant pour titre "Orwelllia Opera" comme "Orwell" et "IA" donc, et en effet, le propos de cet album tourne autour de l'essor de l'intelligence artificielle et de la surveillance de masse décrite par Georges Orwell dans "1984" . Ajoutez les problèmes écologiques et climatiques flagrants (et encore la version digitale de l'album était publiée avant cet été catastrophique). Un album fort et direct (mais avec des respirations je vous rassure !) dont la version CD vient de paraître et que je vous recommande chaleureusement pour exorciser tout ce gloubi-boulga !!  Plan social chez KING CRIMSON en 1973 ! En effet Robert Fripp s'entoure de nouveaux membres avec l'album "Lark's Tongue In Aspic"  : le regretté John Wetton tout juste libéré de chez "Family", David Cross, Bill Bruford, rassasié de "Yes" et Jamie Muir. Evidemment cela change le son du groupe, dont il reste malgré tout encore des saveurs d'avant-garde. Un extrait dans cette émission et une pensée pour Mr Fripp qui nous a fait une petite frayeur il y a quelques mois, victime d'une attaque cardiaque en début d'été alors qu'il allait jouer en Italie. Il se remet tranquillement,  80 printemps tout de même pour la "papa" du rock progressif !  L'Italie a un rapport particulier avec ce genre musical qui nous occupe chaque semaine. En effet nombre de groupe éphémères dans les années 70 y ont recueilli le succès d'un album ou deux avant de disparaitre pour revenir occuper la scène en se reformant au XXIème siècle. Pas tous évidemment, mais il y en a quand même pas mal, je m'en suis rendu compte en papotant et en lisant la littérature spécialisée de Louis De Ny que j'avais eu la chance de recevoir dans l'émission il y a un peu plus deux ans maintenant. Tel est donc le cas de MAXOPHONE, avec un unique album éponyme paru en 1975, devenu référence dans le rock progressif italien mais qui, outre une version anglophone de l'album, restera unique, le groupe ne faisant plus parler de lui avant de revenir sur scène, mais pas en studio, au début des années 2000. Dommage car il y avait là un énorme potentiel mais cela dit, on ne pourra jamais leur reprocher d'avoir fait l'album de trop !        Direction le Canada avec l'un de ses groupes mythiques, j'ai nommé RUSH !  L'opposé de Maxophone, puisque ici, pléthore d'albums durant plusieurs décennies jusqu'à la disparition du batteur de la formation en 2020. Neil Peart en ayant été par ailleurs auteur et compositeur quasi unique, le sort du duo restant était semble-t-il scellé jusqu'à ce qu'il décident de rendre hommage à leur regretté camarade en repartant en tournée. C'est l'allemande Anika Nilles qui a décroché le poste prestigieux derrière les fûts et les retours semblent plutôt élogieux pour la jeune femme qui doit faire face à une sacrée pression (bon l'Allemagne, les fûts, la pression, vous me voyez venir !!!, je sais c'est cliché… ) D'ailleurs la tournée internationale de Rush passera aussi en France (pour une fois on a de la chance ! ), mais attention une seule date, ce sera à Paris le 19 février 2027 à la Plénitude Arena, si Céline a fini de vider sa loge ! En attendant je vous propose un extrait de "Roll The Bones" paru en 1991. Groupe éphémère des années 70, mais à la différence de leurs collègues italiens, ils auront eu le temps de commettre plusieurs albums : GRAVY TRAIN. Enfin seulement 4 galettes sorties de cuisines et je vous propose le service ultime de 1974 "Staircase To The Day", enregistré dans les fameux (et fumeux!) studios du Manor, là ou à cette période la propriété acquise par Richard Branson venait d'avoir été le terreau de création notamment pour un certain Mike Oldfield,  Kevin Ayers, Gong, ou encore pour notre Magma national  !     Plus au nord et plus contemporain, les suédois de SULPHUROUS SEA, nouvelle formation crée en 2024, très active car en magasin déjà trois albums et un single ! Pour amateurs de rock progressif instrumental, atmosphérique et cinématique, le tout d'inspiration du début des 70's. Comme quoi, c'est dans les vieux pots… Extrait de leur dernier album "Flake Of A Memory" sorti l'année dernière.      Justement je n'en ai pas fini avec les seventies et quelle formation  ! Trois musiciens audacieux d'une incroyable dextérité, les célèbres EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER avec ici un extrait du mythique "Brain Salad Surgery" de 1973, leur 4ème opus mais le 1er sur leur propre label "Manticore", générateur d'une énorme tournée pour le groupe au faîte de sa gloire !  Un incontournable du rock progressif de cette période !  L'émission aura été un série d'alternances entre les "pointures" du genre et les artistes émergents avec en clôture une toute nouvelle formation anglaise nommée LIMINAL SKY et dont les membres proviennent en partie du groupe Messenger. Un  album inaugural intitulé "All Tomorrow's Dakness". Un titre somme toute représentatif de l'ambiance mélancolique de ce post rock à la beauté sombre et désolée, à l'instar de son visuel. Oui dit comme ça, on croirait un disque pour déprimé ! Mais pas du tout, c'est tellement beau ! Et puis, on n'est pas dans le grand carnaval de Patrick Sébastien !  Allez je vous en offre un extrait (de l'album, pas de Patrick Sébastien !!) AMAROK, chaque jeudi, à 20h

Eight months after the Conservative movement issued a public apology to interfaith families for historically treating them as a threat to Jewish survival, the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards (CJLS), the rabbinic arm of the denomination, released a new set of Jewish legal rulings delineating both the possibilities and limits for including interfaith families in Jewish religious and ritual life, entitled “Gateways Into Jewish Living: Guiding the Conservative/Masorti Rabbi in Supporting Families with Non-Jewish Loved Ones”. Two findings make this story of particular interest to Canadian Jews. First, as of 2019, Conservatives comprised the largest denominational affiliation among Canadian Jews, totalling 33 per cent of the population. Second, more than 35 per cent of married Jewish Canadians under the age of 40 have a non-Jewish spouse. While the rulings did provide concrete ways for rabbis and congregations to welcome interfaith couples and families, critics are frustrated that the CJLS said that rabbinic officiation of interfaith marriages remains beyond the pale of permissibility under Jewish law. Defenders say that the rulings deal with how interfaith families can build a Jewish home, raise Jewish children and celebrate life-cycle events—the things that make up Jewish life every day outside of the wedding. The publication solidified a number of practices into Jewish law for the first time. For instance, non-Jewish parents “may and should” be included in English blessings on the bimah during their child's bar or bat mitzvah. They may not receive an aliyah to the Torah—recite the official blessing before a Torah reading—but may accompany a partner to do so. A Jew may not sell their hametz, leavened bread products, to their non-Jewish spouse. A non-Jewish spouse may perform “labour” that is typically religiously prohibited for Jews to do on Shabbat, as long as it's not directly asked for by the Jewish partner, though a young Jewish child may ask them to do so. This Is Why You Don't Open the Door for Strangers

There is something you have been avoiding. Not a conversation or a decision but a place. The place inside yourself where you keep the things you do not want to feel. The place where you put the experiences that were too big for you to process at the time. The grief. The fear. The betrayal. The loss. The moments when the world shifted and you did not have the tools to hold what was happening and so you put it somewhere else. Somewhere you did not have to look at it. Somewhere you could function around. Somewhere that was out of sight and therefore out of mind, or at least that was the idea. But the place is still there. The things are still in there. And they have been waiting for you. Waiting for the day when you would finally be ready to look.

Several fixtures in Delaware state politics have announced they won't seek reelection this year, some after decades in their seat. Their decisions to step aside leave room for new faces and the possibility a seat could flip to the other party.Incumbents opting to leave has become a bit of a trend in the First State.
