Incredibly happy with the response to TPS this 2026. 3 months in and 3 amazing guests. A special thank you to everyone who's locked back in this year. I hope the music has been enjoyed and the interviews have been insightful. Anyway March brings us our next guest and as ever I am honoured to host this man. I first connected with EVIL what feels like a decade ago when I first discovered Intelligent Dirt. He actually designed my first ever piece of graphics for what became Teddy Colour and I still treasure it to this day. Hailing from Paris but now representing the South Of France alongside Holymane. Holding down the sound in two cities I would almost crown the capitals of Dirt. Marseille & Montpellier. I was lucky enough to visit these incredible cities back in 2024 and host a show at Piñata Radio. Needless to say the trip ended up pretty wavy, but is one I will never forget. It's been an honour to know & support this artist for so many years, and now an even bigger honour welcoming him to the TPS spaceship. As always with the format of the show. You can catch this month playlist & mix from myself, followed by a short interview with EVIL, and then finishing off with his guestmix. Thankyou all for your continued support. Stay blessed & keep your eyes peeled for next months guest. Discover - EVIL -

Buying a Home in France: Lessons from a Real-Life House Hunt in the South of France is the focus of this episode of the Join Us in France Travel Podcast. Annie Sargent chats with Juliana Linssen and her husband Craig about their journey from California to Provence and what it's really like to search for a home in France. Listen to this episode ad-free They share what drew them to France in the first place. They talk about lifestyle, food, and the appeal of the South of France. They also explain how they narrowed their search to beautiful villages in the Var and the arrière-pays, in places like Seillans, Fayence, and Montauroux. Annie, Juliana, and Craig walk through the reality of house hunting. It's not always easy. Inventory can be limited. Listings can be confusing. And homes can be very different from what buyers expect. They also share a big moment. They had an accepted offer, then had to walk away after discovering structural issues. It's a tough lesson, but an important one. They also talk about financing, timelines, and the role of language. You don't need perfect French, but it helps. And patience is essential when buying property in France. This conversation is honest, practical, and full of insight. It's useful if you're dreaming about moving to France. It's also fun if you just love discovering beautiful places. If you're curious about what it really takes, press play and listen now. Jane Austen had six brothers, but her older brother Henry was her favorite. Kind and witty, Henry has long been appreciated by Austen fans for his devotion to Jane and his championing of her novels. But Henry was a fascinating figure in his own right, capering through risky financial schemes and marrying an enigmatic French countess before ending his days as a hard-working curate. Highly successful at times and nearly bankrupt at others, Henry's colorful and turbulent life helps us better understand Jane's life and works. In this episode, Jacke talks to author Christopher Herbert about his new book, Jane Austen's Favourite Brother, Henry, which tells the illuminating and inspiring story of a special sibling relationship. PLUS Jacke shares a letter from a 22-year-old Australian reading his way through Europe. AND author Nicholas Jenkins (The Island: War and Belonging in Auden's England) discusses his choice for the last book he will ever read. Gerard Bertrand had not been in Los Angeles for a few years. He comes every 4-5 years to put on a Master Class of the wines of the Provence. You see, he has been a major force in bring the wines from the area to the notice of the wine world. He forms biodynamicaly but keeps his ear to the ground as to what the market place is asking for. I was fortunate enough to catch him with a spare 40 minutes before he was on-stage exposing the virtues of his families heritage. Who knew that a winemaker could wax poetic about geology, spirituality, and diplomacy all in the time it takes to swirl a glass? Listeners tuning in to this episode of Wine Talks will discover that Monsieur Gérard Bertrand is no ordinary figure in the wine world—he's a philosopher in vintner's clothing, a passionate steward of the land, and a tireless advocate for capturing the "footprint of the vintage" in every bottle. Step into an illuminating conversation where you'll learn how wine is so much more than fermented grapes; it's an evolving tapestry of soil health, family tradition, and a vehicle for cross-cultural connection. Bertrand shares generational wisdom gleaned from his father, delves into the radical promises of biodynamic farming (think 47,000 links of underground life, not just a vineyard full of grapes), and reveals why wine's emotional resonance surpasses any other beverage—anchored, perhaps, in what he calls “the grace of God.” You'll hear why true excellence in winemaking isn't an accident, but the convergence of balance, intent, terroir, and soul, shaped over years of patience and experimentation. Beyond the vineyard, Bertrand explores wine's role in diplomacy and spirituality, reflecting on its unique ability to bring people together across religions, continents, and centuries. If you're curious about what it takes to move from an entry-level “good” to an “exceptional” glass, how the moon and microbial life can change the soul of a vineyard, or why pouring a bottle becomes a kind of ceremony, this episode offers a rare, intimate look. Prepare to have your notions of wine expanded, your sense of ritual deepened, and your next bottle charged with new meaning.

Bandol is arguably the most important appellation in Provence at the southeastern tip of France. Although it makes white, this very small region is known for its ageworthy reds and rosés made mainly of Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Cinsault.   In this show I review the long history of Bandol from the Greeks to the real estate agents of today, and talk about the various terroirs in this appellation. I talk about the grapes, why Mourvedre makes such a big difference in allowing the reds and rosés to age, and some ideas of flavors, producers, and how long to age these wines. From the Rosés of Southern France by Liz Gabay, MW and Ben Bernheim   Since these are rosés that can age and ones that have more robust flavors, I wanted to do this show in the winter. I think it's good for us to think about different ways to look at pink wine, especially high-quality pink wine! And considering Bandol a multi-season wine is a great step in that direction!     ________________________________________________________________ Full show notes and all back episodes are on Patreon. Become a member today! www.patreon.com/winefornormalpeople _______________________________________________________________   Check out my exclusive sponsor, Wine Access.  They have an amazing selection -- once you get hooked on their wines, they will be your go-to!
