Chairman Hoehn-Saric was nominated to the position by President Joe Biden in July 2021 and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate later that year. During the conversation Chairman Hoehn-Saric discusses the importance of consumer protection, particularly as it pertains to children—the ones most vulnerable to products that fail to meet basic safety standards. He explains how consumer products and drowning prevention efforts intersect: from recalling faulty self-closing hinges on pool gates, to educating society about the importance of pool safety.
