In this episode, Dr. Schmidt sits down with Adamo Notarantonio, DDS, FICOI, FAACD, a highly regarded cosmetic dentist, to explore the often-overlooked power of composite in aesthetic dentistry. While porcelain options often take center stage in smile makeovers, Dr. Notarantonio shares why mastering composite artistry is not only essential for delivering beautiful results—but also for becoming a true craftsman in cosmetic dentistry. From repairing fractured teeth on teenagers to fine-tuning provisionals, he explains how composite skills translate into superior patient outcomes and provides a deeper understanding of smile design. (Dr. Notarantion will be a speaker at AGD2025, July 9-12.) They also dive into the mindset shift required to build a fulfilling aesthetic practice—from ways to build skill and reputation to learning how to communicate treatment possibilities with patients without overwhelming them. This conversation offers practical insight, real-world advice, and inspiration for dentists at every stage of their journey. Dr. Notarantonio graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine (2002), where he received honors in removable and fixed prosthodontics. He is accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and received his Fellowship in the AACD in 2018. He is the current President of the AACD, Credential Examiner and Fellowship Chairman. Dr. Notarantio is a graduate and faculty of the Kois Center. He has received his fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has been published in multiple dental journals and lectures nationally and internationally on such topics as CAD/CAM dentistry, implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, composite dentistry, and dental photography. Tune in to hear how investing in your skills can transform both your dentistry and your career.

Annie Im, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is also the Program Director for Hematology & Oncology Fellowship program. Her research is focused in hematologic malignancies, drug development, stem cell transplantation, and graft-versus-host-disease. She received her medical degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine in New York, and then completed both her residency in internal medicine and her hematology/oncology fellowship from UPMC. “I think the most impressive thing is when a physician can make you feel like you're the most important person in that moment.” Encouraging us to go the extra mile for patients by being present, Dr. Annie Im joins us in this episode of the Medicine Mentors as we discuss the fine details of empowering patients by giving them our full presence. Tune in as Dr. Im spreads the message of staying present for all parts of our lives, reminding us that we won't escape the rush hour busyness of physician life but that by being present we can learn to find a balance that works for any given moment. Pearls of Wisdom:   1. Even though you might be busy in your day, your patients will remember you as you are in the time that you meet with them. So be sure to stay focused and present so they can feel like they're the most important person to you at that moment.  2. When finding a work-life balance, think of it like rush hour traffic. Sometimes it will be easy to balance things and move with ease, but it's important to know that there will be times in your career when work or your personal life will take precedence and need more attention. The key is to find balance in all of those phases. 3. Whether it's research, personal life, or career trajectory, mentors don't all come with the same expertise so be sure to find a variety of mentors that can help you in each part of your life.  4. The onus is on the mentee to reach out to a mentor so when looking out for hiccups in the relationship, stay empathetic and realize that a mentor will have their own business and may not tend to every need. Long lasting relationships require work but pay off in the long run. 5. Successful people are those that find their drive through passion. Seeing that extra patient and going the extra mile isn't just about dedication but also passion. When working passionately, things like burnout and work-life balance become easy.

In this episode, we dive into the importance of listening to your own needs and following your intuition. This episode is a must-listen!Can't-Miss Moments From This Episode:Uncomfortable truth: people are out here changing careers like they change their underwear… so why do you have to pick a thing and stick with it? No BS Interview on Digital Photography Episode #281 with Dr. Adamo Notarantonio If you want to be a good dentist, you need a digital camera — and know how to use it! In today's podcast, Kirk Behrendt brings in Dr. Adamo Notarantonio to teach you why. Not only is it a way to display your work, but it is also an effective way to communicate with patients and prospective patients. To learn about other benefits of good photography in your practice, listen to Episode 281 of The Best Practices Show! Main Takeaways: Work ethic leads to success. Put the time in. You need good photography in dentistry. Dentists need social media. Instagram is free advertising! Understand the materials you're working with to be a better photographer.  You will never be a good dentist without a digital camera.  Quotes: “One of my biggest pet peeve questions I get when I show my photos on Instagram is, ‘What camera did you use?' And I'm like, ‘Listen, I can physically send you my camera with my SD card, and you'll never take a picture like me. Why? Because you don't understand light. You don't understand camera settings.' You have to put the time and hours in to understand this to create the kind of work that you see that these guys create.” (11:28—11:52) “I don't know how anybody practices without a digital camera. I think you're nuts if you do. But if you can start getting into the artistic stuff, and it doesn't have to be crazy, the amount of advertising — I get so many patients from Instagram. And we used to spend $10,000 on 30,000 flyers to five local zip codes and get patients looking for deals, not looking for quality.” (15:59—16:20) “A lot of people will ask, if I post a composite, ‘Which composite?' That's really not the question you should ask. ‘What camera?' It doesn't really matter, to be honest. You need to understand how the composite I'm working with handles, what color is it really, how does it reflect light, and stuff like that.” (18:50—19:07) “If you're not taking before and after photos of your work constantly, which is what I do, how are you going to improve?” (23:31—23:37) “When you're able to display your work at the highest level, they come to you. You don't even have to do anything anymore.” (32:48—32:56) Snippets: Dr. Notarantonio's background. (03:32—06:32) Denzel Washington's garbage truck story. (06:56—07:58) How Dr. Notarantonio became successful. (08:16—12:26) Why photography is an important topic in dentistry. (13:01—16:39) His aha moment. (17:27—18:13) What dentists get wrong on this journey. (18:39—21:46) You need good photography in dentistry. (22:35—25:43) Photography as a communication style. (26:41—29:27) Taking risks. Today I am joined by Dr. Kimberly Kroll. We are talking about the Christian doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Christian theology claims that the Holy Spirit indwells believers, but the history of Christian thought has not made it clear what that actually means. Kim recently finished her PhD dissertation at the University of St Andrews on the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. In today's episode, we will discuss some of the key claims of the doctrine, and explore some different models of indwelling that have been developed by William Alston. In the next episode, Kim and I will chat about the work of Eleonor Stump, as well as Kim's own model of indwelling. You can find out more about Kim's work on the Holy Spirit here. Credits: Host: R.T. 04-04-16 - America's Political Turmoil, God's Hand needs to Intervine;  by Rev Franklin Graham - 2016 the year of a major shift in where the nation is headed William Franklin Graham III (born July 14, 1952), known as Franklin Graham, is an American Christian evangelist and missionary. He is president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and of Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief organization. Graham became a Christian in 1974 and was ordained in 1982. Franklin Graham is reimbursed $880,000 annually for his charitable and evangelical work.  Early years The fourth of five children of evangelist Billy Graham and wife Ruth Bell Graham, Franklin Graham was born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains near Asheville, North Carolina. As a teenager, Graham attended The Stony Brook School, a Christian private school on Long Island, New York, and finished high school in North Carolina. In 1971, he attended LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas, and was expelled from the school for keeping a female classmate out past curfew.[2] In 1974, he graduated from Montreat-Anderson College, now Montreat College, with an A.S.[3] and in 1978 from Appalachian State University with a B.A.[4][5] In 1974, 22-year-old Graham became a Christian in a hotel room while on a trip to Jerusalem. He was ordained in 1982 by the Grace Community Church in Tempe, Arizona.[3] He married Jane Austin Cunningham of Smithfield, North Carolina, in 1974. They have four children: William Franklin Graham IV (Will), born in 1975, Roy Austin Graham (1977), Edward Bell Graham (1979) and Jane Austin Graham Lynch (Cissie) (1986). Lynch is now married to the National Football League's Corey Lynch, safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Graham and his wife have five grandchildren. As a young man, Graham was actively mentored by two senior members of the Billy Graham Team; Roy Gustafson and John Wesley White. These men worked alongside Billy Graham and had a desire to positively affect the life and ministry of the eldest son of their longtime friend and colleague. Graham began conducting events for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in 1989 and became the CEO in 2000 and its president in 2002.[6] Each year, he conducts at least five Graham Festivals around the world as an evangelist associated with the BGEA. Since 1989, he has preached to more than three million people in 126 evangelistic events.[citation needed] On January 23, 1990, Graham was a guest on 100 Huntley Street. He went to Hong Kong from November 29, 2007, to December 2, 2007, to host the Hong Kong Franklin Graham Festival, the first major evangelistic rally in Hong Kong since its 1997 transfer of sovereignty, which drew more than 250,000 attendees.[7] Graham spoke at the 1999 Columbine High School memorial, and he also gave the opening prayer at the 2001 inauguration of George W. Bush.[8] Work with Samaritan's Purse and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association[edit] Shortly after becoming a Christian in 1974, Graham joined Bob Pierce, founder of Samaritan's Purse, on a six-week mission to Asia.[citation needed] It was during this trip that Graham decided to focus on world relief. In 1979, after the death of Pierce, he became the president of Samaritan's Purse. Graham now also serves as the organization's CEO, and heads efforts on behalf of the organization in more than 100 countries, including programs such as Operation Christmas Child and the "Children's Heart Project". Samaritan's Purse reported gross receipts of $414,031,085 during the 2010 federal tax year.[9] According to 2014 data, Graham is the highest paid Samaritan's Purse employee at $622,252 annually and leads other charities in compensation.[10] The preacher gave up a salary at the evangelistic association during the late economic downturn,[11] but the leaders urged him to accept compensation again and he now receives increased retirement contributions as well as a regular salary.[12] The evangelistic association reported 2013 revenues as $106.5 million and 2014 as $112,893,788 Host - Larry Barnett beyondbostonradio@gmail.com beyondbostonprophecy.com #bbostonprophecy
