Jade Dass was taking medication to treat her addiction to opioids before she became pregnant. Scientific studies and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say this leads to the best outcomes for both mothers and babies. But after Dass delivered a healthy daughter, the hospital reported her to the Arizona Department of Child Safety, which conducted an investigation and separated her from her newborn. “I just couldn't believe it, that people would act like this,” Dass says. “Like how they couldn't see—it's, like, you have no humanity if you're gonna take someone's baby.”To understand the scale of this issue, reporter Shoshana Walter, data reporter Melissa Lewis, and a team of Reveal researchers and lawyers filed 100 public records requests, putting together the first-ever tally of how often women are reported to child welfare agencies for taking prescription drugs during pregnancy. This week on Reveal, we follow Dass as she grapples with losing custody of her baby—and makes one last desperate attempt to keep her family together.Walter has turned some of her reporting for Reveal into a book about the addiction treatment industry, Rehab: An American Scandal, which comes out this month. Ever had an idea so specific that everyone told you it wouldn't work? Nelson Nigel heard that too, right before scaling his niche startup, Kidmoto, to over 60 cities across the U.S. Nelson is the founder and CEO of Kidmoto, a reservation-based ride service that provides pre-installed child car seats for families traveling to and from airports. After surviving a life-threatening train accident at age 13 and later working as a NYC cab and Uber driver, Nelson spotted a critical gap in the rideshare market – one that Uber and traditional taxis weren't solving. So, with just $600 and relentless energy, he built a solution parents now rely on nationwide. What Happens When You Build a Business Around One Clear Problem Most ride services leave families on their own when it comes to car seats, creating travel stress and safety risks. Nelson shares how identifying this single, overlooked pain point helped Kidmoto stand out in a crowded market. By going all-in on solving this one issue, he built a business that serves a specific type of customer better than anyone else. How to Grow Without Investors, Funding, or a Tech Background No VC backing. No glamorous startup story. Nelson built everything from the ground up – outsourcing tech, mastering content marketing, and learning to prioritize the right problems at the right time. If you've ever wondered whether you really need outside funding to grow, Nelson's story is proof that focus, grit, and great execution can take you further than you think. The crew is back this week with another episode. Join TRP as we kick things off with our usual around the horn segment. Next, Corey, Shawn, and Bill briefly discuss some local politics that directly affect our children's schools and safety. Then, the four of us go around and discuss our top five bucket list ideas. From extreme sports to destination vacations and everything in between. Each of us also discuss one or two things on our never to do bucket list.We finish up the show with a brief but in-depth look at the Academy award-winning and Golden Globe award winning movie, Conclave. This movie takes an in-depth look at how a new pope is elected, the logistics that go into this process, and the politics that shouldn't, but do, play a role. Our faith is a living thing precisely because it walks hand-in-hand with doubt. If there was only certainty and no doubt, there would be no mystery. And therefore, no need for faith. -Cardinal Lawrence: Conclave Don't forget to like, share, rate, and download the podcast on all of your listening platforms. This morning, the UK regulator Ofcom released its Children's Safety Codes. These are the regulations that platforms will have to follow to protect young users and abide by the Online Safety Act. Platforms will have three months to carry out a risk assessment and bring the codes into effect. Ofcom can start enforcing the regulations from July. The most significant aspect is the requirement for strong age verification. Anita Rani hears from Baroness Beeban Kidron, founder of Five Rights, an international NGO working with and for children for a rights-respecting digital world, and Ian Russell, Chair of the Molly Rose Foundation. Ian's daughter Molly took her life at the age of 14 after being exposed to harmful content online.A new report says 91% of organisations in the UK's women and girls sector have seen a rise in demand for their services, but only 52% expect to be able to meet it. The report - from Rosa, the UK fund for women and girls - also found that 1.8% of charitable giving goes to women's charities although they represent at least 3.5% of charities. Anita is joined by Rebecca Gill, Executive Director at Rosa UK fund for women and girls and Cecily Mwaniki, Director of Utulivu, who support Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and refugee women, girls, and their families in Reading.According to campaigners, people who have committed murder, manslaughter or stalking offences should be forced to live in restricted areas after being released from prison on licence. Anita is joined by BBC journalist Gemma Dunstan and law-change campaigners Rhianon Bragg and Dianna Parkes. 29-year-old Pippa White shares her daily life as a vicar to millions of viewers on TikTok. She joins Anita to discuss being a young woman in the Church, making religion fun and connecting with a younger audience.Presenter: Anita Rani Producer: Rebecca Myatt
