The first chapter can make or break a reader's engagement with a story. We as writers must craft brilliant opening pages in order to hook those picky readers, so let's study the stories of others to see how they do it! Firstly, I apologize for that two-month break, fellow creatives. Blondie broke her leg a couple of days after my August podcast, and it's been a whirlwind of doctor and therapist visits since then. Now that we're finally finding a new rhythm with school and recovery, I can return to my library's New Release shelf to see what's happening! And Blondie helped me pick this one, too.
Did you know that Shopify currently powers over 10% of all e-commerce in the United States? Astoundingly, the platform has processed transactions amounting to over half a trillion dollars. Shopify, a juggernaut in the e-commerce space, is making significant strides in establishing a new paradigm for retail—one that marries flexibility and scale with the cutting-edge innovation we've come to expect in sectors ranging from AI to headless commerce. In this episode of Tech Talks Daily, I had the privilege to chat with Bobby Morrison, the Chief Revenue Officer at Shopify. I learned more about what differentiates Shopify is its commitment to enabling millions of businesses to maintain control over their brand identity, customer relationships, and data. This conversation is crucial as enterprise retailers grapple with rapid technological changes and ever-increasing customer expectations. To cater to the complex needs of enterprise customers, Shopify offers three distinct 'flavors' of its platform, each designed to empower retailers to tailor their approach to customer engagement and operations. This level of differentiation is particularly critical in a market that is increasingly competitive, enabling retailers not just to survive but thrive. One of the episode's pivotal moments was our discussion about Shopify's recent extension of its Shop Pay feature to enterprise retailers outside its ecosystem. With over 100 million opted-in users, Shop Pay is revolutionizing the checkout process, boasting the internet's best conversion rates. But, according to Bobby, this move is not merely a feature addition; it's part of Shopify's broader strategy to alleviate some of the most significant pain points that plague enterprise retail. In addition to this, we also delved into headless commerce—a buzzword that has piqued the interest of many in the retail industry. Bobby demystified the concept, describing it as a technological shift and a strategic approach that frees up resources. It allows retailers greater control over the front-end customer experience, thereby aligning with the broader trends of customization and differentiation. Another subject that stood out was the issue of latency. Shopify has mitigated this challenge through its globally scaled infrastructure, boasting over 150 network edge points of presence worldwide. According to Bobby, this approach has significantly reduced latency, contributing to higher conversion rates than competitors and aligning with the idea that 'latency is pollution' in the e-commerce world. As we look towards the holiday season, a critical period for retailers, Bobby touched upon how Shopify is positioning itself to aid enterprises in their preparations and to navigate the forthcoming challenges. His insights suggested a focus on agility, scalability, and leveraging data analytics to make informed decisions. Whether you're a retailer, a tech enthusiast, or just someone interested in the colossal shifts taking place in the retail industry, this episode provides a nuanced understanding of both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
The Unfathomable Odyssey of Flight 914: A Timeless Enigma UnraveledEmbark on a captivating journey through the annals of time and space, as we grapple with the perplexing tale of Flight 914. Imagine a sun-kissed morning on July 2, 1955—families, businessmen, and lone travelers board a plane in New York City, destined for the balmy shores of Miami. Only, they never make it. The plane vanishes off radars, evaporating into thin air and leaving behind a void filled only with questions. But wait, the enigma doesn't end there. Fast forward to 1992, in Caracas, Venezuela—a plane touches down. Its design is archaic, its call sign? Flight 914. Astoundingly, the passengers and crew are trapped in a time capsule; their watches, calendars, even their food, are artifacts from that fateful day in 1955. Unaware of the years that have passed, they are prisoners of their own timeline.Conspiracy theories abound—Was this a governmental experiment gone awry? An unintended consequence of Project Chronos, whispered among the corridors of clandestine operations? Or perhaps, an encounter of the extraterrestrial kind? Delve into the recollections of passengers who experienced odd dreams filled with cryptic symbols and otherworldly voices, adding layers to an already intricate mystery. But hold onto your seats; just when answers seem within grasp, the plane and its occupants vanish again, deepening the enigma to unfathomable depths. The mystery of Flight 914 continues to elude, and it serves as a chilling reminder that when you look up to the sky, cosmic riddles are ceaselessly unfolding, leaving us to ponder—what other secrets does the universe harbor?Dive in. Question everything. And remember, the next time you gaze at the sky, you're looking at an expanse filled with unsolved mysteries, much like the haunting tale of Flight 914.Support the showSexy Voice Guy - Voice So Sexy, It's Criminal | sexyvoiceguy.comApple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sexy-voice-guy/id1540619762Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1XqPQBuNWRzj3Ri2UFEZ9L

Criminals stole at least a trillion dollars during the pandemic. Astoundingly, none of the additional $80 billion allocated to the IRS is earmarked for reducing fraud or even catching the thieves. Instead, the additional funding will be used to harass honest taxpayers in the name of catching tax cheats. Why would DC do this? Find out in this week's Chairman's Report.
Do you know with FirstLink was? If you'd asked me that question before our interview on this episode of Plain Talk with Jennifer Illich, the executive director of the group, my answer would have been...sort of? I knew FirstLink existed. I knew it handled calls from people in distress. I mostly thought of it as a suicide hotline. What I learned during our interview is that this group is doing profound work. In 2022, they handled 85,681 contacts to their 211 and 988 hotlines from people in crisis in various ways, from needing to be connected with assistance programs because they can't pay their heating bill to people who need emergency intervention because they're on the verge of suicide. That's an average of 234 calls per day. Astoundingly, they handled almost 54 calls per day just relating to suicide. FirstLink got a big boost in funding from the North Dakota legislature this year, and it's money well spent, not just because of the work the organization is already doing, but also the work they will be doing. One of the new initiatives Illich told me they're working on is coordinating with the 911 call centers to transfer calls about suicide to them. Currently 911 operators almost always dispatch law enforcement to these calls, but many times that's not necessary or even helpful. The folks at FirstLink are trained to handle those calls and can take work off the backs of law enforcement officials who can then use those resources elsewhere. As you listen to our interview, remember that if you need help, whether it's with thoughts of suicide, or financial problems, or employment problems, you can call or text 211 or 988 (it doesn't matter which) and get help. Also on this episode, we talk about some rank hypocrisy with broadband funding in North Dakota, as well as Gov. Doug Burgum qualifying for the RNC's first presidential debate in August.
Welcome to episode 77 of the Football United vs Soccer City podcast. Firstly I would like to sincerely thank all of the interviewees, listeners and the football community of the Illawarra, Australia and around the World who download this podcast. Additionally I would like to say thank you to the brilliant people who contribute, comment and reminisce on the social media pages.Walter Chichkan is our interviewee in episode 77. He was born in the Ukraine in 1938 and after surviving World War II, his Family came out to Australia on the 1st of August 1949. He grew up in the football village of Balgownie and it is here that his football career started at Balgownie Public School. After a period of time Walter then played fullback with the historic Balgownie Club in U14s and in U16s. Although he wanted to play in the goalkeeper position like his idol and big brother Victor, Walter was highly successful in representing his district and state at fullback in junior representative teams.Walter joined Woonona-Bulli in the State League as a 17 year old in 1955. He broke into the first team that year playing nine games as a defender. Astoundingly in 1956 Walter then became the first grade goalkeeper for Woonona-Bulli, an amazing transition, which fulfilled his ambition of playing in goals. In 1957 and 1958 he continued to play for Woonona-Bulli, however in 1959 he re-joined his hometown club Balgownie in state league and played here until 1962.After a year off in 1963 Walter then played goalkeeper at Helensburgh, Wollongong Olympic, Coledale and lastly with Fairy Meadow where he retired in 1971. In 1972 he became a referee in the IDSA competitions and did this for a year. In 1977 he joined the Fairy Meadow SC as a committee member. Walter was with Fairy Meadow until 1986 and he was a large part of their success in the late 1970s in the IDSA competition and in the 1980s in the NSW State league competitions. Plus I briefly speak to Walter about coaching his son and other players at Balgownie Junior Soccer Club.I appreciated the opportunity to record and listen to Walter's football journey. I have sincere respect and thanks for the time Walter gave up to do this interview and for allowing me into his home. And I must thank Walter's son John for setting up the interview and for transferring 1950s Illawarra football film into digital files. Please note it is John's voice you can occasionally hear in the background during the interview. Please enjoy episode 77!

THE Leadership Japan Series by Dale Carnegie Training Tokyo, Japan
Society approves titles and status, especially in Japan. We rise through the ranks and following the Peter Principle, we peak at our upper level of incompetence. On the way up, we pick up titles and accrue status, respect and credence amplified through the power of our title. Our personal power though could be suddenly exposed as bogus, when we get up to open our mouths in public. This is one of those “The Emperor Has No Clothes” moments, when all is revealed, and we are found severely wanting. I was at a function recently and one of the bureaucratic elite in Japan was there to give a keynote presentation. You generally get to become an elite official in Japan because you went to the right elementary school, middle school, high school and then University. The reason these were the right schools up until University, is because they have the absolute best system in place to help you be a legend in memorization, rote learning and test taking. At University you take a couple of years off, before you start cramming for the national selection exam, where again memory and exam technique are the most rewarded skills. You join a Ministry and work like a dog for a squillion hours every day, for years, simultaneously looking for a powerful patron to whom you can pledge total loyalty. After decades of glacial progress, you emerge a grey haired, elite official. Now part of the bureaucratic upper crust, you are often called upon to represent your organization and speak in public and the whole edifice comes crushing down. This was the case with this official – sent out into the firing line to promulgate the new way forward for his political masters, to impress everyone with the potency of their new policies, to win adherents to the path forward. Total fizzer. Why? Because he spoke without energy or passion – nothing to indicate he felt at all impressed with his own recommendations. He looked down at his papers and hardly glanced at the audience. The opportunity to make eye contact, to combine words with the power of his face and to use the tonal variations available to his voice, were in total absence. He was a truly dull correspondent and we were completely dulled to his message. There were no converts that day. He could tick the box though – the task was completed, a total failure, but completed. Astonishingly, during the post speech Q&A session, he perked up like a man really engaged – sadly it was only sustained for 30 seconds, but it showed he could do it. So why didn't he do it while he commanded the stage? No concept and no appreciation for the immense power at his beck and call, I would proffer. His self-concept seemed to be that he was just a grey bureaucrat, whose job was to be grey and boring. Obviously he had received no training or preparation for his task. So his brilliant university pedigree meant little when he was publically outed at the podium. He was a total failure as a communicator, he became a message killer, a brand assassin instead. Was he an exception, a one-off, the runt of the litter among the bureaucratic ranks of the gifted, great and plausible public speakers? No he was typical of that bevy of elite officials, who are mainly acquired status and have almost no personal power projection. Another vaunted profession is that of the elite government official who works in the foreign service. This has been a bad week for me, as I suffered more of the same, this time from an Ambassador. You would think that given the high profile nature of their job, they would be experts in promoting their countries. No, this was another national reputation suicide effort. Monotone, weak voice sputtering forth Ums and Ahs aplenty, with no engagement with the audience. A voice that sounded so very weary and where the last three to four words in every sentence, just slowly petered out. The energy and tone just subsided, guaranteeing the key message was a total downer, regardless of the actual content of the words. Was this a one off – just the Ambo having a bad day? No, I have seen this gentleman in action on many occasions and there is a scary consistency to his public speaking murder of his country's brand. He is not unusual – in my 37 years of survey here, I have found that most Ambassadors are hopeless public speakers. Yes, yes, there are some exceptions, but they just prove the rule (send me a list of more than 10 Ambassadors you know who are any good?). Do these career diplomats get proper training in the art of public speaking? Astoundingly no! They become elite government officials due to their ability to write cables and reports, which usually almost no one reads, by the way. They have large analytical abilities and very big brains. They can really shine in small meetings, where they can one up their rivals and be the smartest intellect in the room. So they get promoted and then get propelled to the front of the stage, handed the mic and away they go into ineptitude, writ large under lights, in front of the assembled masses. The good thing is that all of their colleagues are equally hopeless, so it seems normal to them. The fundamental error is they simply don't value having a skilled public presentation facility. The worst public speaking experience of my diplomatic career was giving a speech on behalf of one of our Ambassadors. I was “our man in Osaka” and had to deliver the speech on his behalf. The talk was in Japanese, which was no issue, as I had given around 400 public speeches in Japanese. The content however was challenging. There are four main types of speeches – to inform, to persuade, to entertain and to impress. Foreign Ministries around the world, tend to love the data dump, inform variety. This automatically leads to lots of dull information being imparted. Why they don't go for the persuade type is a bit of a mystery to me and all countries seem to make that selection. I absolutely gave it my best shot to liven it up, while sticking religiously to the approved Ambassadorial text, but what torture it was! Imagine when you combine dead data with a dead delivery? You have a massive bromide of winter surf Hawaiian North Shore frightening proportions, thundering down to bludgeon unsuspecting audiences into stupefaction. This is what we usually get from elite Government officials and it doesn't have to be like that. There are some bright spots of hope though, even in Japan! Previous Ambassador Motohiko Nishimura, who I met in Osaka in the mid-1990s, during his posting to the Kansai (yes, Kansai is considered a foreign country by Tokyo, so they have to send an Ambassador down there), was skilled and excellent. English or Japanese, it did not matter, he was the consummate diplomat in the sense he could use his speaking power, to capture an audience and have them love Japan. He finished his career as Ambassador to Portugal, and I am sure he was a tremendous asset for his country in creating support for Japan there. Hello to all of you elite officials and aspirants out there, stop boring us all to death, get some proper training and represent your Ministries with aplomb. Boys and girls – be ambitious? No be persuasive!
The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 2: Justin Goodman—Senior Vice President for Advocacy & Public Policy at White Coat Waste Project—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss one silver lining of the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill: it will cut funding for foreign labs like the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Astoundingly, as of now, the institute remains eligible to receive U.S. tax-payer money. On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited President Joe Biden in the Oval Office—but why was he wearing a sweatshirt? Shouldn't he have thrown on a jacket and tie? In a new Wall Street Journal editorial, journalist Simone Goa hypothesized that Chinese officials may suddenly be embracing less strict COVID lockdown policies because the government is “running out of money.” Gao calculates that the annual cost of “nucleic-acid testing” could potentially “exceed $240 billion.” While speaking at a school board training event, Governor Ron DeSantis vowed to work tirelessly to get more conservatives elected to school boards throughout Florida. DeSantis also introduced an updated version of the “Freedom Blueprint”—which would end the automatic withdrawal of union dues for teachers.
The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (12/21/2022): 3:05pm- On Tuesday evening, the U.S. Senate advanced a massive $1.7 trillion spending package with a bipartisan 70 to 25-vote—less than one day after it was unveiled. At 4,155 pages, how was any Senator able to read the bill in its entirety before voting? 3:25pm- According to The Daily Wire, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) “requested at least 19 earmarks totaling more than $60 million in the $1.7 trillion bill.” Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) called the process by which the omnibus bill was advanced in the Senate an “abomination.” 3:40pm- Vincent Kolber—Chairman of RESIDCO, a transportation equipment leasing company—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his recent Wall Street Journal opinion editorial, “How Much Washington Really Owes: $100 Trillion.” Kolber writes that, according to calculations from the U.S. Treasury, “[t]otal liabilities were $34.8 trillion at the end of fiscal 2021. The Treasury reported assets at $4.9 trillion. Simple arithmetic brings us to the net position, negative $29.9 trillion. But this accounting leaves a lot out. Social insurance net expenditures calculates the difference between the expected future liabilities of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and similar programs over the next 75 years and the income these programs are expected to generate during the same period under current law. The Treasury reported these unfunded liabilities at $71 trillion at the end of fiscal 2021. That brings us to the alarming milestone. Add the net position of $29.9 trillion to the social insurance net expenditures of $71 trillion, and you find that they topped $100 trillion.” Read the full article at: https://www.wsj.com/articles/how-much-washington-really-owes-100-trillion-debt-social-insurance-expenditure-medicare-medicaid-treasury-11671571955?mod=opinion_lead_pos7 4:05pm- Justin Goodman—Senior Vice President for Advocacy & Public Policy at White Coat Waste Project—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss one silver lining of the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill: it will cut funding for foreign labs like the Wuhan Institute of Virology. DeSantis also introduced an updated version of the “Freedom Blueprint”—which would end the automatic withdrawal of union dues for teachers. 5:00pm- Dr. E.J. Antoni—Research Fellow for Regional Economics in the Center for Data Analysis at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to break down the most egregious earmarks (and there are many) in the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill advanced by the U.S. Senate. 5:10pm- On Wednesday, U.S. President Joe Biden held a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Biden has promised to supply Ukraine with a $1.86 billion security assistance package. During the press conference, Biden emphasized the package would include defensive weapons only. 5:35pm- Listeners weigh-in on funding war between Ukraine and Russia—what's the limit? And what's our end goal? 6:00pm- If the Biden Administration is as committed to stifling Russian aggression as they claim, why aren't they doing more to expand the production of domestic oil? It would undoubtedly damage Russia's economy and limit their ability to spend militarily. 6:20pm- The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board noted that embedded within the 4,155-page omnibus bill is authorization to further empower the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)—specifically giving it expanded control over the cosmetics industry. 6:45pm- Senator Rand Paul released his own, hilarious version of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
During this second week of Advent, the candle we light on the advent wreath represents faith. And there's a lot of faith required in this passage we're discussing today from Isaiah 11:1-10.It's that one that begins, "A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a branch will bear fruit." When you look at a stump, you don't usually see new trees growing out of it. A stump is usually dead, and you're just waiting for it to decay. This represents David and his kingdom and his family line. But Jesus is a really unexpected surprise.David's line had appeared to be done for as the last of the Davidic kings had been carted off to Babylon. Then they return, and there are a few of them that try to set up the kingdom, but they fail and they're under oppression. But Isaiah speaks of a shoot that will bear fruit. So, you know, Jesus. He is not what people expect. He's a surprise. In the passage on the wedding in Cana , there is wine that is saved for the last. That's kind of like Jesus. It's a description of Jesus. This wine is amazing, intoxicating, and flavorful. Where did this come from? That wine is like this shoot coming out of the stump of Jesse. And so, in Jesus, something that was lost is being restored. Even something that people were hoping for comes to us in a marvelous way.Jesus arrives in the fullness of time. He's unexpected and He's better than anything we could imagine. That's the faith that this passage is indicating-Jesus is something you've never seen before. The Messiah's kingdom is so much more than we can get our heads around. He's going to bring wisdom and order to all of creation. We're going to see an end to things that we thought were never going to be possible. This Advent, respond to the invitation to groan along with all creation, to groan for Messiah's Kingdom, to groan for Jesus, and for His glory to be revealed. The words He longs to speak to you are astonishingly and astoundingly good. On this week's episode of Keeping Kids Safe, Karen and Megan speak with Amber Rollins, the Director of Kids and Car Safety—an organization dedicated to raising awareness of “the dangerous social practice of leaving children unattended in or around vehicles.” Astoundingly, Kids and Car Safety is the only organization in the country collecting data on child fatalities resulting from accidental, in-car abonnement. But the phenomenon of children being forgotten in vehicles doesn't seem to predate 1990. What was the change that led to this crisis and what action needs to be taken to reduce risk? This is a must listen to episode for anyone who has children or grandchildren in car seats, or knows anyone who does. Kids and Car Safety is a non-profit organization. Max and Karl wrap up their (surprisingly emotional) discussion of 2021's Pig. This movie took both of us by surprise. Astoundingly good.Patreon.com/QuillAndFilmMeasuringFlicksPodcast@gmail.com
The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Show (10/11/2022): 3:05pm- On Tuesday, the United States Supreme Court vacated a decision that required undated mail-in ballots be counted in Pennsylvania. The court's ruling is likely to result in a Republican-led lawsuit challenging the legality of Pennsylvania's current mail-in ballot policies, specifically the validity of undated ballots. 3:20pm- Rich rummages through an Audacy garbage bin after finding a news article sitting on top that he thought was interesting…did he find more potential show prep in the trash? Or did he only find germs and tetanus disease? 3:45pm- State Senator Doug Mastriano—Republican Candidate for Pennsylvania Governor—joins the show to discuss his campaign, a recent Trafalgar Poll that has him down 2-points and within the margin of error of Democrat candidate Josh Shapiro, and how rising crime rates in PA's big cities like Philadelphia could potentially sway the election in his favor. 4:05pm- Former Democrat Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard announced that she could no longer remain a member of the Democrat Party—citing the party's widespread embrace of “wokeness” and “racializing every issue.” Gabbard also objected to what she considers a pro-war mentality. 4:15pm- While speaking with CNBC, JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon explained that he believes a recession is likely to occur in the next six to nine months—stating that the Federal Reserve waited too long to raise interest rates. Dimon went on to implore the Biden Administration to drill domestically instead of relying on Saudi Arabia and OPEC+ for energy. 4:30pm- Justin Goodman—Senior Vice President for Advocacy & Public Policy at White Coat Waste Project—joins the show to talk about his organization's monitoring of medical testing on animals, particularly of the United States government which is the single largest funder of animal testing in the world. Goodman reveals that, according to investigations, Dr. Anthony Fauci and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) distributed tax dollars to EcoHealth Alliance which performed gain-of-function coronavirus research involving bats at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Astoundingly, the Wuhan Institute of Virology remains eligible to receive U.S. tax dollars for gain-of-function research. 4:50pm- While speaking at the 2020 Advancing Excellence in Transgender Health (AETH), Dr. Jeremi Carswel—the director of the hospital's Gender Multi-Specialty Service at Boston Children's Hospital—revealed that doctors are handing out puberty blockers to young children like “candy.” Although an advocate for gender reassignment procedures, she conceded that she was sometimes worried that “in this field” it can be “dangerous” how easily doctors are “swayed” by their patients. Audio from the conference was recently unearthed by Breitbart. 5:05pm- On Monday, the New York Times published a piece titled, “Biden, Storyteller in Chief, Spins Yarns That Often Unravel,” in which they documented President Biden's habit of “embellishing” his stories. Rich relives some of Biden's greatest lies. 5:25pm- In Washington Post Magazine, reporter David Montgomery examined what might happen if Donald Trump was to become U.S. President again in 2024. Predictably, Montgomery layouts a dystopian vision—often hysterically exaggerated. 5:40pm- What's on Matt's Cut Sheet: JD Vance obliterates Tim Ryan during Monday night's debate, Jen Psaki avoids questions while on Meet the Press, Kamala Harris rambles on late night, and Greta Thunberg is back…but is she less woke?! 6:05pm- Last week, President Joe Biden spoke at a Volvo factory in Hagerstown, Maryland and addressed domestic manufacturing and the economy. During his speech, Biden accused Republicans of hoping for an economic downturn and blamed the financial struggles of the middle class on “trickle down” economic theory endorsed by the political right. But as Stanford Professor & Economist Thomas Sowell points out, “trickle down” is not a legitimate economic theory nor has anyone (economist or politician) ever advocated for it. “Trickle down” has simply morphed into a derogatory term for lowering taxes—which, according to data, has historically resulted in more revenue collected by the federal government with wealthy Americans paying a larger percentage of overall tax revenue. In “Trickle Down Theory and Tax Cuts for the Rich,” Sowell writes, “[t]he facts are unmistakably plain, for those who bother to check the facts. In 1921, when the tax rate on people making over $100,000 a year was 73 percent, the federal government collected a little over $700 million in income taxes, of which 30 percent was paid by those making over $100,000. By 1929, after a series of tax rate reductions had cut the tax rate to 24 percent on those making over $100,000, the federal government collected more than a billion dollars in income taxes, of which 65 percent was collected from those making over $100,000.” 6:40pm- Daniel Turner—Founder & Executive Director of Power the Future—joins the show to discuss OPCE+ announcing it will reduce oil production by 2 million barrels per-day and the Biden Administration's subsequent decision to potentially ease sanctions on Venezuela with the intention of ultimately importing more oil. Turner explains that American oil production is significantly “cleaner” than production in countries like Venezuela or Iran. So why not just rely on domestically produced energy? 6:55pm- Who Won Social Media? + Zeoli's Final Thought
Justin Goodman—Senior Vice President for Advocacy & Public Policy at White Coat Waste Project—joins the show to talk about his organization's monitoring of medical testing on animals, particularly of the United States government which is the single largest funder of animal testing in the world. Astoundingly, the Wuhan Institute of Virology remains eligible to receive U.S. tax dollars to conduct gain-of-function research.

Astoundingly, in the New Testament Jesus says that He did not come to abolish the Old Testament Law. Instead, He came to fulfill its purpose. Pastor Cody reminds us today that the Law was always a good thing. If we think that Jesus came because the Law was bad, we are mistaken. And yet, by fulfilling the Law, Jesus has given us something better. Pastor Cody explains that the Law was limited in that it could reveal sin, but could not solve sin. But Jesus' sacrifice has the power to save us from our sins.

Today I talked to Sanjiv Chopra about his book Coffee the Magical Elixir: Facts That Will Astound and Perk You Up (Bookbaby, 2021) 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed globally everyday. Coffee has a myriad of health benefits the overwhelming majority are which not known to the lay public and even physicians. There has been a plethora of research published in peer reviewed scientific journals attesting to the health benefits of coffee. They are mechanistic explanations and often a dose dependent benefit. Coffee drinkers have a lower risk of seven common cancers, cirrhosis of the liver, type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's Disease, and many other common ailments. Astoundingly coffee drinkers, both women and men have lower total and cause specific mortality. Telomeres are caps at the end of our chromosomes that protect the chromosomes from sticking to each other and from fraying. Shorten telomere length implies accelerated cellular aging and is seen in mothers of chronically disabled children and care givers of folks with Alzheimer's Dementia. Longer telomere length is seen in individuals who exercise, meditate, are on the Mediterranean diet and those who drink coffee. Here is a mind boggling fact. Increase caffeine intake is linked with shortened telomeres, while increased coffee intake is linked with longer telomeres. Coffee has thousands of constituents and it is not caffeine that confers the health benefits. Learn more about your ad choices. Jesus said we should pray like children. Children don't think about how they approach, whether they are using the right words, or whether their parents are pleased with them. They just ask. Astoundingly, that's the beginning of learning to pray.

Got a question for the trio? - https://zfrmz.com/uLtjhyBskV96PY6eJfaIhttps://propertyplanning.com.au/propertyplannerbuyerprofessor/In this week's episode Dave, Cate and Pete take you through:Market update1. Cash rate rises by 50 basis points, but the sky's not falling inThe RBA raises the cash rate by 50 basis points to 0.85%, with an expectation that rates will increase by the same amount next month as well. However, this is no reason to panic. The cash rate was at 1.50% pre-covid, so there is still some room to move and the reality is that the cash rate was never meant to be as low as 0.10%. This was an extraordinary measure put in place to tackle the challenges that global pandemic brought.2. The wage price spiralThe trio discuss the possibility of a wage price spiral caused by high inflation. If wages increase in line with inflation (5-6%), it embeds inflation further and that's when the probability of job losses is increased, which is a worse outcome than slightly lower wage growth. This is an increased risk if minimum wages are increased, as employment awards and enterprise agreements are raised by the same percentage, effecting a vast amount of wage growth.3. The current state of the economyWhilst many home owners may not like the prospect of increasing interest rates, however the economy is a strong position, which is why the cash rate has been increased. As stated by the RBA, the Australian economy is resilient, growing by 0.8 per cent in the March quarter and 3.3 per cent over the year. Australians are well ahead on their mortgage repayments, with a median of 21 months of repayments in savings, even with a 2% rise in mortgage rates, this would only reduce to 19 months. There is an upswing in business investment underway and a large pipeline of construction work to be completed. The terms of trade are at record highs, the lowest unemployment rate in almost 50 years and jab vacancies at high levels.4. The latest home value index resultsThe trio discuss the index results for May, which show Sydney and Melbourne on the decline, while Canberra went slightly backwards but a negligible amount. Astoundingly, Adelaide is still going strong with 1.8% increase over May. The market is well and truly slowing down for the other capitals and regions alike. As they say, all good things must come to an end, as we enter a period of 6 to 18 months of excellent buying opportunity.5. Rentals and vacanciesRental markets continue to remain tight, with each capital city under 2% for vacancy rates. Those are expected to get tighter with the flow of new migrants to Australia. Builders will not be able to pick up the slack and increase supply to meet the demand, with fixed priced contracts in precarious positions as a few major builders go under. Now that prices are flattening, yields are growing even faster, with Melbourne now leading the charge for units, adding on 10% in the last year for asking prices.6. Listing numbers on the declineTotal listings are down for every capital city and in a change of gear, old listings (listings on the market for longer than 180 days) are increasing. This means that the up-take of the less desirable stock has slowed down for much of the nation, only in Brisbane are buyers still snatching up whatever they can. The upshot is that buyers are taking their time, FOMO has lessened and there is not as much pressure from other competing buyers.7. Consumer sentiment continues to diveThe house price expectations index, which typically lags behind market movements, is catching up with the market and starting to reduce. The time to buy a dwelling index, which peaked in November 2020, is now the lowest it's been since the GFC.8. What do lending indicators tell us about the property marketIn April, the amount of finance fell by 6.4%, coming off a big high. The hardest hit were owner occupiers, which fell 7.3% from the previous month with investors showing more resilience with a drop of 4.8%. Over half the abortions in the U.S. each year are repeats. Since people are less likely to choose abortion again after healing, helping people heal is essential to ending the demand for abortion. Astoundingly, only 16% of women and 40% of men prefer a faith-based approach to healing after abortion, says Lisa Rowe, the CEO of Support After Abortion. Her organization focuses on meeting men and women where they are, being a safe and compassionate space for them to reach out for support, connecting them with the provider or resource that best meets their needs, and equipping providers to help people find hope and healing after abortion. Support After Abortion provides the help that both men and women are seeking by facilitating their first steps toward freedom from shame and trauma. TAKEAWAYS 9 out of 10 people impacted by abortion don't know where to go for healing: call 1-844-289-HOPE to get help Men are often villainized in the abortion debate, but they are also victims People need to receive compassionate care and understanding before they can take the next step toward healing Support After Abortion's mission is to end the demand for abortion through healing people impacted by abortion

This week's guest is Dr. Amy Novotny, Founder of the PABR Institute which focuses on a treatment method that she developed while studying the nervous system and breathing. Dr. Novotny was a practicing physical therapist when she came up with the PABR method after experiencing extreme stress and drama in her own life. She was preparing for the Boston Marathon at the time. She started testing the method and process on others and now has her own practice. Additionally, Dr. Novotny is an ultra-marathon runner. Astoundingly, she once ran 102.88 miles in 24 hours! She has done many races including an Iron Man Triathlon. Besides her practice and her running, Dr. Novotny is also an accomplished nature photographer. She even traveled from Arctic Norway and Finland to Antartica for 6 months with a photographer, hired on to treat him using the PABR method and also doing photography herself. We talk about all of this and how she used the 6 months she was away to explore what she wanted to do next in her life and how facing unexpected adversity let to her building up her resilience. Note from Rabiah (Host): I think what I really enjoyed about speaking with Dr. Novotny was that she is another great example of a person who pursued what she wanted and found the resources needed to make things happen. I think we all do this more than we realise but don't think to celebrate it very often. I appreciate that she took the time to acknowledge her own achievements with me but also that she was honest about struggles along the way. That authenticity makes for an episode I'm very proud to share with you! +++++ Find Dr. Novotny PABR Institute: https://pabrinstitute.com/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/dramynovotny/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-amy-novotny/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anovotn/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/amynovotnyaz Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DrAmyNovotny +++++ Mentioned in this episode: Arizona Highways PhotoScapes: https://ahps.org/ Greg Zlevor (HOPEMakers): https://www.hci.org/greg-zlevor +++++ More than Work Facebook, Instagram, Twitter: @morethanworkpod Please review and follow anywhere you get podcasts.
