The Landry Football's Conference Call podcast is a fantastic listen for any college football fan. Hosted by Zach Berry, this podcast provides in-depth analysis and breakdowns of the most important conference in college football. As someone who has been following college football for years, I can confidently say that this podcast stands out as one of the best in its genre.
One of the best aspects of The Landry Football's Conference Call podcast is Zach Berry's energy and enthusiasm as a host. His passion for college football shines through in every episode, making it engaging and exciting to listen to. He brings a great level of expertise and knowledge to each discussion, offering unique insights and perspectives on various topics related to college football recruiting.
Another highlight of this podcast is the quality of analysis provided. Zach Berry goes beyond simply discussing the surface-level news and highlights; he delves deep into the intricacies of college football recruiting. Whether it's breaking down individual player performances, evaluating coaching strategies, or predicting future outcomes, Berry's analysis is thought-provoking and informative.
Furthermore, The Landry Football's Conference Call podcast focuses on the most important conference in college football, which adds another layer of relevance and interest for fans. This emphasis allows listeners to gain a comprehensive understanding of what is happening within this particular conference. It covers all aspects from recruiting updates to game previews and everything in between.
However, one potential drawback I have noticed with this podcast is that it may not appeal to those who are not specifically interested in college football or do not follow it closely. The discussions can be quite detailed at times, assuming a certain level of knowledge from the listeners. While this is perfect for dedicated fans like myself, it might be slightly overwhelming for casual listeners looking for a more general overview.
In conclusion, The Landry Football's Conference Call podcast featuring Zach Berry is undeniably one of the best college football recruiting podcasts available. With its energetic host, insightful analysis, and focus on the most important conference in college football, it offers an exceptional listening experience for fans. Regardless of whether you're a die-hard college football enthusiast or someone looking to expand your knowledge of the sport, this podcast is highly recommended. Go Gators!

General manager Ryan Poles took a big swing in the trade market to get the Chicago Bears an established veteran at a premium position. The Bears sent a fourth-round pick — No. 110 — to the Los Angeles Chargers for wide receiver Keenan Allen on Thursday night. The 31-year-old had 108 catches for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns in 13 games last season and made his sixth Pro Bowl. Allen steps in as a starting receiver alongside DJ Moore and immediately eliminates the pressing need at the position. For now. The 2024 season is the final one in Allen's contract. He rejected an offer to take a pay cut from the team that drafted him in 2013 and will now play on a new team for the first time in his NFL career. Money can fly around during the first days of free agency. With a jump in the salary cap, there can be some unexpected bumps in salaries. Nowhere was that more apparent than at guard. Almost half of the guard contracts in the league, which average $10 million or more, were signed this week. This might not be a surprise given that, before free agency started, guards had one of the highest growth rates of the top-five contracts among offensive positions over the past decade. It makes sense that right tackles and guards would start to catch up with left tackles as teams continue to emphasize the offensive line value. The first few days of free agency have been hectic. Now more than ever, NFL teams are taking advantage of the legal tampering period and getting most of their work done early in the free agency window. Teams finalized multiple monster deals and team-altering trades over the past few days. Some roster needs have dramatically changed as organizations approach the 2024 NFL Draft. We're looking at some of the most significant moves in the first few days of NFL Free Agency and exploring their impact on the draft. The first wave of the 2024 NFL free agency period was a doozy. Three players landed nine-figure deals, some of the league's best running backs joined rivals, and up-and-comers aggressively spent on upgrades. Along the way, it's clear who the NFL's biggest winners and losers are thus far. Of course, the first few days of free agency can be fool's gold. In two years, most of these deals will see the guaranteed money expire, and the market will be again flooded with some of the same names. The cycle of chasing top free agents can be most fulfilling at the moment or prove to reshape a team's short-term future if a signing hits. So, who has won or lost the first wave of free agency? The start of the 2024 NFL free agency period has been as entertaining as anyone could've hoped. After a substantial cap-space spike, the league is flush with money, so a relatively weak crop of veterans quickly landed market-resetting deals. Several guards and running backs cashed in quickly. Kirk Cousins, Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs and other key names found new homes, so we're looking at the most surprising contracts from Monday. Only some big deals on Day 1 of free agency were bad, so let's dive into the seven significant agreements. Spring football is already underway at more than 30 FBS schools, and the rest will kick things off over the coming weeks. This practice slate becomes more important by the year as programs work an increasing number of early enrollees and winter transfers into their systems, giving them head starts in their preparation for the upcoming season. In 2024, notable newcomers like Isaiah Bond, Cameron Ward, Jeremiah Smith and countless others will make their first impressions during the months of March and April. For each of college football's preseason top-25 teams, there is at least one player (and in most cases, many more) who stands to gain a tremendous amount from the 15-practice schedule. Whether it be a returning contributor seeking to take a key step forward in his development, or a first-year player settling in with a new team or at a new level, that student-athlete could make strides over a short period of time. Just because you are good at algebra, it does not mean you're good at calculus. There are huge steps in between. It's a different orchestration of talent and execution. As important as the position is, the NFL hasn't gotten much better at drafting quarterbacks. Doing so has arguably gotten harder because of the growing differences between college and professional games. The reason is we have more non-football, administrative and analytical statistical types instead of deeply rooted football coaches and evaluator types. Trades can be a way to jump-start a roster, either by shipping a player off for draft picks or grabbing a veteran for a draft pick. Trading for a veteran can be one of the biggest market inefficiencies in the league — a way to add a player at a below-market price. That's usually a better move for contending teams or one looking to get there quickly. Today, we're not focusing on those teams. Instead, we'll look at some trade ideas for teams that struggled in 2023 and could use a boost for the upcoming season. There's so much going on at the NFL Combine. Interviews, medical exams, athletic drills galore — almost everything you could want to know about a player, the NFL will find it out at the combine. Let's be honest, though. The 40-yard dash is what we all want to see. There's a very simple part of all of our brains that lights up when we see someone run faster than everyone else. It's thrilling in and of itself but also opens up the stream of possibilities more than any other test. “Imagine if Player X could fix Y and Z with that speed” is the kind of bargaining we will do with these players who put up blazing 40-yard dash times. In reality, it's not the most significant drill for predicting future success. Every position has a different drill of emphasis. But there is something universal about speed; everyone wants their team to be fast. With that in mind, let's look at a handful of names with a shot to put up the fastest 40-time in Indy. The eyes of the NFL and its fans will turn to Indianapolis, Indiana, this week for the 2024 NFL Combine. Most of the top draft prospects will participate in athletic testing, positional drills and medical examinations. Performances in the 40-yard dash, three-cone drill, jumps and positional workouts draw much of the attention, but the medicals provide vital information for teams. It's not unusual for prospects to move up or down draft boards due to their combine performances. With that in mind, here are seven bold predictions for the combine. The NFL Combine wipes the slate clean for NFL prospects. It's a place where film and production and level of competition don't matter. Every player shows up to wear the same spandex uniforms and run all the same drills — a completely even playing field amid a draft process littered with discrepancies elsewhere. It's the perfect opportunity for unproven players to show their potential or for fringe top prospects to lock themselves into the first round. At least a few prospects fly up the board every year purely based on what they did at the combine. Sometimes, it's one drill that makes you question what you saw on tape. Other times, a player completely knocks it out of the park with every drill. to propel their draft status. With that in mind, we're going to look back at some of the biggest combine risers of the past decade, hitting on secret stars, big-time busts — and everything in between. Many players despise the franchise tag, yet I don't think it's going anywhere. The distaste for the franchise tag in the NFL amonst players is obvious part. I'd be surprised if you found a single current or former player who disagrees. Where else in professional sports can a player finish his contract and thus his obligation to his team and still not be able to market his services to other clubs? It doesn't happen in the NBA, NHL or MLB — just the NFL, courtesy of the franchise tag. Forget even just the ecosystem that is pro sports for a second. Where else in life does this dynamic take place? In “real” jobs people can leave those companies for a better gig at a moment's notice. OK, maybe with two weeks' notice, but you get my point. Almost everyone in almost all walks of life can decide where they want to live and work based upon which employers are interested in their services. Not in the NFL. At least not if your team hits you with the franchise tag. We explain the Pro's and Con's of the Franchise tag as we are in the middle of that window. Caleb Williams has been the prospective No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft for more than two years. While there's a case for others, who may be the preference for some teams and evaluators, Williams hasn't done anything to move out of QB1 status. That alone is an impressive feat — there was so much hype and so many expectations surrounding his college career, which included a Heisman-winning 2022 season. As is the case with any high pick, especially a quarterback, a team should have a plan in place to fit Williams into an offensive system and ensure a smooth transition from college to the NFL. To understand what will be needed for Williams in an offense, we need to better understand him as a player. Every head coach in college football faces unique circumstances each season as expectations change and certain factors like roster, as well as strength of schedule vary year to year. Some coaches find themselves in a situation with more to prove than others based on these dynamics. That is no different heading into the 2024 season. Job security in college football changes on an annual basis with an emphasis on recent accomplishments both on the field and in recruiting. Again, those results are relative to expectations for each program with even some of the best head coaches in the country facing pressure to live up to massive contracts. So, which power conference head coaches have the most to prove this upcoming season? The quarterback landscape is getting another shakeup this offseason. While everyone obsesses over Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and the rest of the 2024 quarterback class, this year's trade market and free agent quarterbacks are just as spicy. A handful of starting quarterbacks will hit the market or be on the move one way or another. Everything ranging from potential stopgap options to high-risk gambles to steady veterans is on the table. For teams too far down the board to draft their quarterback of the future, veteran options are aplenty. Coaching changes, roster turnover and conference realignment significantly impact the 2024 outlook for numerous college football programs. Undergoing a period of transition always sparks uncertainty, though some schools have much to be excited about as they enter new eras. Texas A&M, for one, appears to have a brighter future after tabbing Mike Elko as its new head coach, and the Aggies are not alone. Countless factors determine teams' projected win totals, and ultimately, their success in the fall. Strength of schedule, roster makeup and coaching acumen all weigh heavily into the equation. For a decent chunk of schools, like Wisconsin and Syracuse, some of those factors offset others and paint a murky picture of how the ensuing campaign will unfold. We have identified the four teams that enter the 2024 season as college football's biggest mysteries. These squads have wide gaps between their floors and ceilings ahead of the upcoming campaign, making it particularly difficult to project their success. Super Bowl LVIII is in the books and the NFL focus shifts to the 2024 league year, beginning with free agency opening on March 11. The upcoming free agent class is heavier on defensive talent, as the following list demonstrates. Here's my Sweet 16 list of players in the best position to fetch mega-contracts. Many will be hit with the franchise tag at eight-figure sums on the one-year tender. They'll still hope to sign long-term deals with substantial guarantees rather than be stuck signing their one-year tenders. Here's what some of those deals could look like. The last offseason before major conference realignment in college football was predictably busy for the coaching carousel. Barring another late departure, there are 30 new head coaches in the FBS, the most since 2012. The carousel appears to have finally slowed so we can all catch our breath, examine the landscape and grade each hire. In 2012, 31 head coaches were hired across the FBS. Is there a correlation? Perhaps. The spring of 2013 was approaching another inflection point for the sport as administrators prepared for an expanded four-team College Football Playoff in 2014. This fall could be jolting for fans. Not only will the conference landscape be different with new teams peppered across the Power 4, but divisions have also been erased in the SEC and Big Ten. The impetus for the moves is the College Football Playoff, which expands to 12 teams — administrators are still trying to settle on the format following the departures of 10 Pac-12 teams for new homes. The SEC and Big Ten are the big boys on the block with those conferences adding six combined teams (Texas and Oklahoma in the SEC; Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington in the Big Ten). Washington State and Oregon State are homeless with only the Pac-12 brand — and a Mountain West schedule — to comfort them at night. Meanwhile, the NCAA is fighting multiple lawsuits that may lead to schools paying players directly within the next decade. The changes to the sport have been swift, and coaches are coming and going at a near-record pace. The Coaching Carousel has tracked every move throughout the offseason, and will continue to do so as assistants move from team to team. With movement atop programs seemingly finished with UCLA hiring DeShaun Foster on Feb. 12, let's take a look at each hire and examine within the context and challenges inherent and unique to those teams, whether these 30 coaches fit in their new homes. All players selected in the first round sign four-year contracts with a team option for a fifth season. After the player finishes his third year in the league, teams must decide whether to exercise that option. There are some obvious, no-brainers from the 2021 NFL Draft, like Ja'Marr Chase and Micah Parsons, but there are more complicated choices. Some players whose decisions will come down to the final week. The deadline to make a decision is Thursday, May 2. Keep in mind that the fifth-year option is fully guaranteed once exercised (previously, it was only guaranteed for injury). Let's take a look at some of the tougher decisions to make. From the Senior Bowl to the Hula Bowl, college football's all-star games are in the books. Super Bowl LVIII's completion ended the 2023-24 NFL season, and now all eyes turn to the draft April 25-27 in Detroit. Dialing in the pre-draft process a bit more, I'm going through college football's four power conferences — the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC — with a look at each league's top 024 prospects. Starting with the SEC, which has largely led the way in NFL Draft production over the years, there are first-round studs and Day 2 value picks throughout the 16 programs (which now includes Oklahoma and Texas). Chip Kelly is leaving UCLA, but not the Big Ten, as he's expected to make the move to Ohio State to become the Buckeyes offensive coordinator. He'll go work for his protege, Ryan Day, as OSU works to try to reclaim the Big Ten. Kelly leaves Westwood after going 35-34 in six seasons. It was a rough start for the former Oregon coach who won big with the Ducks but struggled getting UCLA turned around. He did lead the Bruins to a 9-4 record and finished the season ranked No. 21 in 2022, and they won eight games last season and whipped archrival USC, but things had become an uphill battle for him and the program on the recruiting front in the name, image and likeness era. It had become a pretty bad marriage. Chip Kelly led UCLA to one of the program's most successful runs in recent memory. So why is Kelly leaving? Here's a dive into the many issues facing Kelly and UCLA athletics. National Signing Day on Wednesday put a bow on the class of 2024 and provided a clearer image of which ten teams are College Football Playoff contenders next fall. Georgia and Alabama signed the top two classes in the nation, respectively, but are trending in opposite directions after a mass exodus of talent followed Nick Saban's departure from the Crimson Tide. Don't give up on Kalen DeBoer's crew just yet, though. Other contenders like Oregon, Ohio State, Texas and LSU bolstered already talented rosters with top-10 signing classes and found their way on this list. Miami, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Auburn also finished with top 10 classes but aren't national championship contenders just yet, with questions still on the roster. Ole Miss signed the No. 21 high school recruiting class in the nation but transformed itself into a contender thanks to a transfer portal masterclass. The 17-man group features top-ranked defensive lineman Walter Nolen, three top-25 overall prospects and nine players with four-star ratings or higher. The Super Bowl is the biggest sports betting event in North America and turning a profit isn't just about what you bet but when you bet it. Super Bowl odds represent a huge opportunity for savvy bettors because of how much the public can sway lines. That creates value in either going against the line movement closer to kickoff or getting ahead of that line movement by locking in your NFL picks earlier in the week. The 49ers probably have the best collection of offensive players in football. McCaffrey is the league's best running back. George Kittle is one of the four or five best tight ends. Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk are both top-15 receivers, and I'd personally argue that Deebo belongs in the top 10. What other team has that level of premier talent at every position—even before Trent Williams is added to the equation? This year, with McCaffrey, Aiyuk, Deebo, Kittle, and Williams all on the field—491 of San Francisco's 1,154 plays—the Niners are averaging 7.2 yards per play. They have a success rate of 51.7 percent and an expected points added per play of 0.21. There were points in the season when it looked like not even the great Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid could elevate the Kansas City Chiefs offense. The receiving corps didn't have a dependable receiver and made mistake after mistake. The receivers' low floor was always a very realistic possibility considering JuJu Smith-Schuster, who was productive last season, left in free agency and the Chiefs didn't allocate many resources to replace him or improve the group. They instead gave tackle Jawaan Taylor a four-year, $80 million contract, making him the second-highest-paid player on the team. The results haven't been very good as Taylor has allowed five sacks and 47 pressures while committing 20 penalties. With much of the hay in the barn, college football's top 25 classes materialized with the SEC and Big Ten once again flexing their muscles in talent acquisition. Using overall team rankings and transfer portal data, most of these programs are all included in way-too-early College Football Playoff odds ahead of the new season, which will features expanded conferences and a new 12-team postseason in the chase for a national championship. College football's rampant player movement in the transfer portal that followed several major coaching departures strengthened various rosters that were already loaded to begin with, including Ohio State. There's a fine line between choosing how many freshmen to take in recruiting these days when there's proven talent on the market via the transfer portal. Portal acquisitions are reflected in these rankings as well, including a couple teams who signed more transfers than 2024 first-year players. Here's a look at college football's top 25 recruiting classes on National Signing Day: Landry Football Podcast Network brings you a Coaching & Scouting perspective on College Football, NFL, Recruiting, NFL Draft, Coaching Searches and much more. The San Francisco 49ers are two-point favorites over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII, making them only the 10th team since 2000 to be favored in every game, counting playoffs. That is a huge upset considering how these teams' rosters came to be. The early signing period for the 2024 college football recruiting cycle came and went without any huge shockers in December — well, outside of five-star DB KJ Bolden flipping from Florida State to Georgia — thanks largely to early commitments and transfer portal movement. As such, Wednesday's traditional National Signing Day is also shaping up to be void of drama. There was hope for chaos down the stretch, but with five-star WR Gatlin Bair committing to Oregon over the weekend, four-star EDGE Amaree Williams — who reclassified from 2025 to 2024 — committing to Florida State and five-star WR Ryan Williams — who also reclassified — reaffirming his commitment to Alabama, much of the drama has gone by the wayside. Still, there are several top recruits to keep an eye during Wednesday's National Signing Day festivities.Landry Football Podcast Network brings you a Coaching & Scouting perspective on College Football, NFL, Recruiting, NFL Draft, Coaching Searches and much more. But for NFL execs, it's one stop on a long and winding road. Given the growth in interest leading up to the draft every year, many of these weeklong exercises have become made-for-TV events, and none is bigger than the Senior Bowl. Get real scouting reports from a veteran NFL Scout and Scouting Director of over 40 years in the NFL.
