My reflections and review of the film Soundtrack To A Coup d'Etat, by director Johan Grimonperez, a powerful documentary about U.S. espionage in the Belgian Congo to secure Uranium for winning the race to build the bomb against the Nazis. This film beautifully portrays the complexity and intensity of the times and the role the jazz world played in the CIA's pursuits to hide our interests and role in murdering Patrice Lumumba to secure our control on uranium reserves discovered there by the Belgians. I also read from Adam Hochschild's essential history book King Leopold's Ghost and Susan Williams Spies In The Congo. Looking over the issues of the last two years as we enter 2023; vaccines, masks, the pandemic, war in Ukraine, overturning of Roe vs. Wade and offering a long view to our evolutionary trajectory. Here I dig into some themes that have come up over the past two years of the pandemic and addressing our media mindset.

We always appreciate your responses and feedback. In the discussion referenced on impacts of the grid- NIH data abt. power lines proximity- https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4931365/ "Results: For leukaemia, there was a slight excess of cases within 50 m of a transmission line over 200 kV (odds ratio 1.4, 95% confidence interval 0.7–2.7). There was no evidence of increased risk for distances beyond 50 m, for lower-voltage lines, or for CNS cancers." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1128834/ "This meta-analysis tends to confirm the presence of an association between exposure to magnetic fields and leukaemia among people who reside in the vicinity of high voltage transmission electric lines of > or = 49 kV. There is consistency across studies. Measures of exposure used in the studies were either distance from the lines or calculated fields estimated from pertinent line features. The results apply to adults as well as to children."
Here I go into some of my favorite ancient sites and to balance the bogus science behind a popular series called Apocalypse. Economy, war, ecology and human integrity. Where and how will the change happen that must happen? Looking at politics, nuclear legacies and applying our collective efforts where they are needed. A correction on a number I give for how many people died in Hiroshima from the dropping of Little Boy, not 10,000 but more like 66,000. TABLE A: Estimates of Casualties Hiroshima Nagasaki Pre-raid population 255,000 195,000 Dead 66,000 39,000 Injured 69,000 25,000 Total Casualties 135,000 More here- https://www.atomicarchive.com/resources/documents/med/med_chp10.html
Readings and thoughts on the main premise of these books and a review of them. I highlight how these all converge into a permaculture understanding of the world and where our work is best applied.
Market driven Permaculture is droll and meaningless what we need are regional scale permaculture solutions to the broken industrial nightmare we live in. Sadly many people in Permaculture act as if it is our task to show the technocrats that they can make money with permaculture methods, it is not nor has it ever been a worthwhile endeavor what we need are comprehensive master plans that make the present food system obsolete.
Responding to Russia's invasion of the Ukraine and looking at the history of propaganda in Nazi Germany and through history. The history of sewage sludge in the U.S. landscape and designing resilient local renewable energy systems to address waste issues and oil dependence.
The Nuclear Power infrastructure in the U.S. has sacrificed future generations and has destroyed our nations economy. The only intelligent decision is to expunge all considerations of this monstrous technology and decommission all Nuclear power plants and clear our minds of this nightmare and clean up our communities. Save the planet and the people from a morally and ethically toxic phenomenon created by our species.
This is a highly in-depth interview with one of the most revered historians in our region Evan Pritchard in our first segment we discuss the Munsee tribe and their names for our streams here, the Kahaksink is the Rondout and Ankerops the Vernooy and more, you will hear about in our first discussion, in a series of interviews with Evan I am releasing.

Hear about a year long apprenticeship with the Center For Bioregional Living with Ben our most recent apprentice, handing off the keys to those who study with us!
Some of my personal life philosophy in this broadcast. Why work for works sake is not needed, how do we find meaning and the utter meaninglessness of identifying with your position on vaccinations, organic food, veganism or the sexual politics of meat .
Here I share the history of how Colonialism laid the foundation for industrialization and unprecedented human exploitation of one another and the planet. I read sections from each of these books shown and how the theme of history reveals the patterns of our demise and of our healing solutions.
Permaculture Perspectives on Cars and Computers. Why neither are important parts of our lives.

Here I am explaining the history of specialization and exploitation in the western world starting with it's roots in the economic model of today. This is a synopsis of a great deal of research i have been doing that I am sure you will find valuable and insightful. Thanks for listening!
This podcast is about taking the power back from the hoarders and exploiters of the twentieth century.I read from four different books, to give a sense of perspective and directions for positive growth. This is why we need a decentralized means of production for food first and energy and transportation too.
If many of our locally consumed potatoes, onions, squash and beans came from this amazingly rich and fertile field, where those solar panels are going off 209 across from walmart , we would not be letting it happen, it would not have even been considered. This is the fundamental issue I want to put together a master plan for our watershed and our communities, to be more food independent and more energy independent. This dovetails beautifully when the goals of greater local food autonomy year round full diet food production goal with a integrated and thoughtfully designed renewable energy system, are combined, when kept separate, we sacrifice food growing for energy. This is because of our industrialized import/export model of land use and economic growth. We need a new model of growth that focuses on greater local/regional food and energy security, integrated in a plan for resilient long term investments in a sustainable infrastructure for our region.
I go into some toxic legacy information and why I teach and how Upattinas, in Glenmoore,PA. , influenced my educational philosophy. This was a K-12 school that I both graduated from, and then taught at, for a decade and created my trademark ecological literacy curriculum there. I read a dissertation on educational philosophy I wrote in 1998. Please listen and enjoy!
The worst actor on the global is stage is and has been the United States for the past 70 years we have held the world hostage at gun point with a toxic nuclear bullet to their head. It is racist propaganda to call China anything other then our brother and sister in this struggle on earth to bring the U.S. military under control.
In this podcast I go into why we need a better social ethic for technology in this country and greater literacy in toxicology to navigate these issues around which ones shall we invite into our world and how and why and which ones shall we eschew and avoid. I also get into why attitude is not what causes cancer or is causing BIPOC people to die from COVID in greater numbers then the privileged white population.
We need to create a future that includes all of the people all of the time not just some of the people some of the time. The Landscapes of permaculture are a pathway to true egalitarian living.
This whole society is substantially, morally and ethically broken and has been for a long time after the utter injustice of colonialism and ethnic genocide against American Indians and a nation built on slavery and exploitation we added industrialization and contamination of our own people. We die at the hands of the police and the military every day and have a sick industrial prison complex full of our ethnic people due to the white supremacists in charge of our government and our economy. Permaculture has the tools to change this inequity and here I outline some of what they are, for those who care to learn.
So much to share and so little time on this Earth! Squandering our window with Nuclear legacies is a travesty and must be stopped. We have to grasp that ethical evolution is essential for the quality of life of future generations. Enjoy these readings on longer cycles of human evolution.
We need to borrow from the many ingenious examples of cultures who have responded wisely to their ecological impacts, The terraces all over the Mediterranean were built to stem the tide of severe erosion from centuries of overgrazing with goats and sheep. The terraces of Turkey, Spain, and Greece are mostly a polyculture perennial food forest like we describe in permaculture as a truly sustainable agriculture. Another brilliant adaptation to limits are the terraces of the Inca and the Aymara in Peru and Bolivia. These systems enabled food production in landscapes where you could not grow any major food crops before creating their extensive and spectacular engineering feats of terrace systems and roads throughout an extremely rugged and barren environment. One of the most productive horticultural systems in the world was employed by the Aztec around what today is Mexico City.
A Permaculture and historical view point on the Coronavirus and food security for the long term and near term.
Learn about our positive pathways to restoring our self image and the ecological integrity of this planet. Herein I read from Erle Ellis on the Anthropocene, John Reader on the Potato and Krishnamurti on ending violence. Enjoy!
Herein I discuss water quality and how to improve it. I read several passages from each book to give you a good sense of my thinking and information resources and share with you my understanding in the water quality work that I am passionately involved in, throughout my life as a permaculture educator.
Who are we? Where have we come from? Where would we like to go in the future? These are questions to contemplate and explore that I give some viewpoints on Hawking's Genius series and Neal deGrasse Tyson lectures where they touch on these questions, and offer some differing takes for you to enjoy and be buoyed up by and I hope get a laugh from!
A Expose piece on toxic realities of the northeast reading from Green Amendment, and my home region of Chester County along with the vision for our way out. Lot's of details you will want to know to fortify your friends family and all those you love from the toxic fall out of our everyday lives. Please contribute to my efforts to create regional scale master plans and watershed models of economic development that encourage energy and Food independence
I wanted to launch into the new year with a vision. A vision of what we would rather see in the world and how to go about doing it! Claiming greater local autonomy by producing more of our food locally year round full diet and more of our energy from diverse, appropriate renewable, distributed systems.
I delve into 2 readings one from Fred Pearce The New Wild an excellent exploration into the dynamic history of introduced species and the character of their behavior. I then read from Ester Boserup batting against Malthus and I offer some narratives in between to connect them all to our Permaculture solution set and viewpoint.
