New Year's Resolutions VS Setting Goals Part 1

We tend to make much of resolutions as the New Year rolls around—humans have been doing so for 4,000 years —but distilling the prospect of next year into a few tidy affirmations won’t help you realize that vision. Resolutions are statements of intention, while goals are statements of commitment.    Resolution: A firm decision to do or not to do something.  Goal: The object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result. Which sounds more appealing? The clock is counting down and we need to get some things in order. Resolutions will not cut, we need a solid plan and I will offer you tips to get started.   Sign up for my newsletter at www.piecesofalice.com

They say that 50 is the new 40. What they don't say is that while you might act and feel younger at 50 than your mother did even at 40, your body is still 50 years old. Sex can be better after 50 than at any other time in your life. It can involve new adventures, brand new experiences, and the fresh freedom of erotic autonomy ready and ripe for exploration.   Women need to let go of the idea that after the age of 50, that sex is over. That does not have to be true. Letting go of perceptions of what sexuality is about can help. This week's guest is Saxy Butler, Author, V-Blogger, Speaker & Educator. Ms. Butler is a 22 year veteran in the marketing, media and medical, industry.  Presently the President of Fuzion Digital Media and Owner of TSB Marketing & Productions. Saxy Butler holds a degree and certifications in International Business, Sexual Health, Marketing, and TV/Radio Productions. Do We Really Need A Coach?

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 9, 2019 30:00

What is the difference between a coach and a therapist?  It seems like at a certain point in our lives, we should know how to be successful be satisfied and get the results we want. As we pass through the milestone numbers and events, we are surprised that this inner confidence and wisdom doesn’t download automatically at age 30, 40, 50 or when we become a Vice President, start our business, launch our non-profit, or have our first baby. Instead, life circumstances become more complex, the questions we face internally get bigger and the skills and strategies we utilized to succeed in our 20’s don’t work anymore to provide both the progress and peace we desire to experience each day. Practically speaking, we simply don’t know how to live life at this next level, and we can’t figure it out by having a repeated monologue with ourselves on a daily basis. This is why we need coaches. If you are not familiar with coaching or you’ve categorized it as something for “those other women who [fill-in-the-blank]”, let’s make it clear. Your life is like a computer operating system. It is either working efficiently and effectively toward what you desire or it’s not. When your operating system is functioning well, all of the hardware, software and peripheral components work together with little effort and you reliably see the results you desire. Regardless of our culture, our level of education or economic status, at the depth of all of us are the same desires- to love, to be loved, and to be happy. Love is something fundamentally important to us, so does it matter where or whom it comes from? As with material possessions or professional achievements, relationships give our ego a method by which to identify who we are to the outside world. The problem is that we attach so much of our identity to the external appearance of our relationships that we lose touch with the parts of ourselves that are wise and conscious. So much of the discourse surrounding interracial relationships seems to center on black and white couplings. These are the images we see most in the media, white men with black women, or black men with white women.? Do society still have a problem with interracial relationships? Can you date outside of your race? Join me for this on Sunday at 10PM.

    Building Confidence

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 3, 2019 22:00

Self-confidence is an essential part of humanity. A person with self-confidence generally likes themselves, is willing to take risks to achieve their personal and professional goals, and thinks positively about the future. Someone who lacks self-confidence, however, is less likely to feel that they can achieve their goals, and tends to have a negative perspective about themselves and what they hope to gain in life. The good news is that self-confidence is something you can improve! Building self-confidence requires you to cultivate a positive attitude about yourself and your social interactions, while also learning to deal with any negative emotions that arise and practicing greater self-care. You should learn to set goals and take risks, as well, since meeting challenges can further improve your self-confidence.

Everyone have dreams and aspirations they want to fulfill. Life is to be lived fully, and of course, we age with each passing day but that doesn't mean you are growing old and weak. You are as young and energetic as you feel. Doesn’t matter if you’re 25, 35, 55 or 85, age is just a state of mind. Numbers really do not matter when you take care of your health and feel fit.  We have only one life and many roles to play, many responsibilities to fulfill, many dreams and goals to achieve. So, do not let your age affect you. You grow older but you are also growing wiser and mature into a sensible human being with the experiences gathered in this beautiful journey called LIFE. For leading a happy and content life, it is very important that we love our life, if we were not able to fulfill any wish or achieve any goal in the past due to some reason, do not sit back and regret, take a chance. No matter how old you are when you realize you want to do whatever it is you want, it often feels like it’s too late. Like you squandered away the last two or five or 10 or 20 or more years focusing on the wrong job, the wrong business, the wrong person, the wrong you. But it is absolutely NEVER too late to create the life you want. Why? Because you have today.  “It’s never too late to follow your dreams, and there’s no time like the present to start.” Anonymous??

I have been natural now for about 5 years, and have not regretted it. Now, even though I have not relaxed my hair, I have been wearing weaves and wigs, instead of my natural hair. Rarely, I am seen without my one or the other pieces on top my head. But, there has been some debat on what is considered natural and what is unacceptable. Let's have discus the pros and cons of being natural.  Natural girls and relaxed hair gals have become the Montagues and Capulets of the hair world. But let’s be clear: having natural hair doesn’t make you a saint and an addiction to the creamy crack doesn’t make you a sinner. Yes, there’s good and bad in giving up the heat, weaves and chemicals for a natural look, but it’s just a personal choice. So, instead of getting ready to go to war, check out 10 pros and cons of going natural.

    Supporting Black Owned Businesses

Blacks have a collective buying power of 1.3 trillion dollars, but very little of that money stays in the Black Community or goes to the Black-Owned-Business.  According to Maggie Anderson, just 2 cents of every dollar an African-American spends in this country goes to Black-owned businesses.  In her book, Our Black Year: One Family’s Quest to Buy Black in America’s Racially Divided Economy,  Anderson recounts her experiences patronizing black-owned businesses while highlighting the challenges many black businesses face (black businesses lag behind all other businesses in every measure of success).  I had the honor to hear George C. Fraser, Founder of FraserNet, Inc and the Power Networking Conference say, "Buy Black, but sell to everyone". Which means to me, keep Black dollars in the Black communities. Research has found that if higher-income Black consumers spent at least $1 out of every $10 with Black-owned businesses, it would generate one million jobs for African Americans. Knowing how much of an impact supporting black business can make, how do we go about supporting them? ?
