The Southern Baptist Convention has been in the center of controversy for years and is looked down upon by many in IFB circles. Bart Barber is leading the SBC and he was willing to sit down with JC, Brian, and Nathan to discuss his role as an SBC pastor and what the journey to the presidency looked like.
This was a sacred moment at the Jordan River when we sang and Craig Edwards opened God's word to glorify Christ.
JC Groves shares from Scripture about the time Jesus returned to Nazareth and the crowd turned on Him in His own home town. Live from Israel on Mount Precipice.

We have talked about many of the things that are wrong in the IFB and it is about time we discussed some things we love and appreciate about the IFB! Contrary to popular belief, we haven't left fundamentalism... we are reclaiming it... and we are not afraid to share the part of our heritage that we appreciate!
What does it mean to be Gospel Centered? What is the Gospel? How do we live a life that reflects the Gospel? The Gospel should impact every area of our lives and should be evident in every aspect of our lives. JC, Brian, and Nate are back together, after a week off, to discuss the heart of why this podcast exists... for the sake of the Gospel!
This episode is focused on what has happened over the past month. Jc's new plans are discussed, a few impromptu phone calls are made, and we discuss the For The Sake of The Gospel Conference which happens one month from today!!!
What is God's will for your life? How do you make decisions about specific situations. What if you miss it? Does that mean God puts you on the shelf and He is done with you? Louie Giglio has impacted all three of the RFP hosts lives and we are playing a sermon he shared a couple of decades ago. This was one of the first most sermons that Nathan heard coming out of the IFB movement and he has shared it with many other people who have asked him about God's will.
Men are called to lead and love their families. Unfortunately, many men are neglecting their duties to be the spiritual leaders of their homes. In this episode, JC and Brian interview Eric Stewart and Travis Watson about their stories and the Men of Valor Conference. Men are called to walk in integrity and this will not happen without accountability and transparency. This is a wake up call to men to step out of the shadows and embrace who they are called to be before God, their families, and soceity.
Seasons of transition are never easy, but God uses these times to shape us and lead us into places we would have never gone without them. What does it mean to be in God's will? What is God's will? Is it mystical or practical? This episode is all about these questions and we believe it will help you rest in God's grace whatever season you find yourself walking through.
Have you ever felt like God has abandoned you? Are you in a season of doubt or despair? God has a word for you today from Scripture. Craig Edwards has preached for over 50 years and he has remained faithful to God's word! We pray that this will help many of you face your struggles and battles this week.
This week is a contrast to last week in many ways. We are sharing a sermon we heard on Sunday by NFL Tight End and Super Bowl Champion, Benjamin Watson. He has had an incredible career in the NFL and he is serious about his faith in Jesus. In this sermon, you will hear no slams against other Christians, just Bible preaching. Enjoy
It has been said that Christians shoot their wounded and sometimes eat their own. Paul said in Galatians 5, "13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another." In this episode we review a sermon by Gavin Flatt where he attacks C.T. Townsend and the Arise Conference, along with everyone who preached there and pastors who sent their youth groups there. This sermon is a rant against another Christian and it is dishonoring to Scripture and the bride of Christ.
The Sabattical continues for one final week. This episode is hosted by Ryan and David with the Youth and Culture Podcast and they are interviewing John Cooper, the lead vocalist, bassist and songwriter/producer for Skillet, one of the best-selling Christian rock bands of the 21st century. The two-time GRAMMY Award-nominated 12x platinum band was recently invited into Pandora’s Billionaire club after garnering 2 billion streams, received a pair of GRAMMY Award nods, sold over 12 million albums worldwide, taken home a Billboard Music Award and more. Their breakout single “Monster” remains “one of the most-streamed rock songs of all-time” with 285 million global audio streams. Between selling out arenas on four continents, Cooper has found time to launch his own podcast, COOPER STUFF PODCAST, a beard care line with Hawk & Hatchett, available at Macys.com and partnered with Z2 COMICS to create Skillet’s first Graphic Novel, EDEN, out now. Their tenth full-length project, Victorious released via Atlantic Records on August 2nd. You gotta admit... that's pretty cool!
Jon Hollifield and James Safrit of the 4 Freedom Podcast join up in today's episode with Clay Maynard and Josh Johnson of The Young Baptist Podcast to get to The Heart of the Matter... literally... that's the topic of their discussion. Legalism is sometimes relegated to the realm of minor exterior issues, but the truth of the matter is that legalism starts in the heart. It is the heart of man that desires to accomplish his own salvation, add to the Holy Scriptures, and to burden the people of God with rules that God never intended to be invented or enforced. Grace is the heart of the Gospel and legalism is an attack against God's provision for our sin in Christ.
One of the more controversial members of the RFP Network, Beers & Bible is hosted by friends, Anthony Kidd and Michael Richard. This week they tackle a topic that has been tossed around in Christian denominations, church conventions, and social media platforms. Scripture defines the office of Elder/Pastor/Shepherd and we are called to submit to the qualifications outlined there. Join us for a challenging and Biblical conversation that seeks to answer the question, "What is a pastor?".
Shanna Dinsmore and Kristen Hargis, hosts of the Grow in Grace Podcast interview Elizabeth Woodson, author of Embrace Your Life: How to find joy when the life you have is not the life you hoped for. God is faithful even when we don't understand His plan. Lament is an important topic that doesn't get dealt with often in the church and we need to be reminded that Scripture presents prayers of lament for our benefit. The RFP Network is stepping up to give JC, Brian and Nate a month off in the busiest part of their summer.
JC, Brian, and Nate share some upcoming changes going on in the RFP and their lives. Spoiler Alert: There is no spoiler! Ya gotta listen to keep up with all God is doing in our lives.
Sound doctrine matters. What does it take to be a true believer? Do you have to believe in the Deity of Christ or the Trinity? What about the Inspiration of Scripture? If we can not trust Scripture, we have nothing! We are proud to partner with Explore Christianity to give a reasoned defense of our faith. Stephen Boyce, Jonathan Sheffield, and Santi Rangel did an excellent job answering the claims of those who have outright rejected the Deity of Christ, Doctrine of the Trinity, and the Inspiration of Scripture.
Tim Lee is no stranger to the IFB world. He has preached in many churches in America across multiple denominations. Tim lost both of his legs in Vietnam, but God had a plan for his life. He has shared the gospel with millions and he has remained faithful to Scripture and his calling. He experience legalism in the IFB firsthand, but God has used him to bring healing across man made divides. He talks about the danger of bitterness and trusting God when people betray you.
Pastor Jim Cymbala invited the RFP Hosts to his office to talk about his recent ministry that has focused on encouraging pastors. He talks about his story, including mistakes he made along the way, and he encourages all Christians to lean into the power of prayer, the word of God, and the Spirit of God as we live for God's Glory. His new podcast for pastors "The Calling" can be found at www.thecallingseries.org in audio and video for free.
We had the most amazing day in New York! We started out in Brooklyn and ended up in Manhattan. Our day was full of worship and fun. God is good.
What is Sound Doctrine? Why does it matter? We have been insulted and attacked over our recent Statement of Faith and over our stand for Sound Doctrine. We address, head on, the importance of issues like the Trinity and The Deity of Christ in this episode.
This episode starts of with a JC Roast and ends in prayer. In the middle, Brian and Nate discuss the peace of God. Our world is full of bad news and Christians are not exempt from suffering, but God promised that He would never leave us nor forsake us. We hope this encourages you in the middle of whatever you are going through.
Music is such an important part of the church and it has brought unity across denominational lines. Zach Alvis and Jonathan Buckner of Chosen Road join us to talk about their journey out of legalism and the music that God has given them to minister to thousands across the US and around the world. The truth of God's word is our standard and it is the foundation of our faith. This episode is full of laughs, music, and solid theology.
Is it possible to promote truth while maintaining a gracious spirit? It is for true believers who are walking in step with the Spirit. We should never be arrogant about the grace that we have received. Blake Long, the author of Gospel Smugness, joins us today to talk about his journey that led up to writing this book.
Brian interviews Walt Heyer about his life leading up to his life altering surgery and what he discovered about the grace and mercy of Christ. Walt shares a unique perspective on transgenderism, the gospel, and how Christians should engage difficult issues.
Bryan Drake joins the RFP to talk about ministry and calling. God uses different people in different ways for His glory.
JC, Brian, and Nathan sit down with Reba Bowman in this episode to discuss her life before and after legalism. Reba grew up in the Independent Fundamental Baptist world and became the Dean of Women at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN. After leaving the life of a university professor, Reba started speaking as a bible teacher and women’s conference teacher in 2003. Dare For More Ministries grew out of her speaking ministry. In 2012, Reba and the DFM team began to pray and rethink how Dare for More could build a bridge to connect the women who attended their events to the women and girls in crisis in communities around the world. Today, hundreds of women are making a difference as they go on missions trips and pour into the women and girls in need. Others are partnering with projects, purchasing products, and so much more.
Many people are held hostage to their past. What defines your existence? Are you defined by what you do? Are you trying to achieve value by your efforts? Are you defeated because of something that happened to you in your past? God desires healing and hope for His children and He has done everything necessary to purchase your freedom. Join JC, Brian, and Nate as they discuss this hostage situation that they encounter regularly, among those who are leaving legalism.
JC, Brian, and Nate talk about the atonement that was accomplished on the cross and the glorious resurrection of Christ. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin, absorbing the wrath of God in our place, as a substitute, the innocent for the guilty, and he cleansed us from our sin and satisfied God's holiness. He accomplished all righteousness. He died. He was buried. He arose on the third day. Hallelujah, He is risen indeed.
JC, Brian, and Nate discuss the new direction of the RFP Network and recent drama on social media.
The RFP Podcast hosts talk about their Statement of Faith for participation in the RFP Network.
This week we open our Bibles to see what God has to say about Repentance. This is a common theme throught the Old and New Testament. There is much disagreement within the Church about this topic and it has played a role in the history of the IFB Movement.
Shanna and Kristen join JC, Brian, and Nate for a discussion about ladies leaving the IFB and what they need most for healing. Shanna and Kristen are best friends who have years of experience in and out of the IFB and they are RFPFam. Oh, by the way, we have a big reveal at some point in the show!
Mark Milioni is the President of Baptist Bible College and is #RFPFam. JC, Nate, and (for a brief while) Brian, talk with Mark about the history of Fundamentalism and the direction of his college.
Clint returns with more difficult questions for our three hosts. The guys answer, unscripted, from their deeply held positions of faith.
Clint Powell is our special guest on the RFP and he is putting the hosts of the RFP on the Hot Seat with some big league theology questions. Brian, JC, and Nate give their honest answers from each of their own unique perspectives.
