One of the biggest challenges teachers face is keeping students motivated. According to a 2023 survey by the EdWeek Research Center, more than 4 in 10 educators said students are not inspired to do their best in school. To help set your learners up for long-term success, it's crucial to create excitement and engagement in your classroom. In this week's episode, we sat down with Aaron Daenell to talk about how to get your students excited about learning. Aaron is a Marketing & Management, Business, and Information Technology educator at Cumberland County High School in Crossville, Tennessee. After leaving the business world in 2005, Aaron earned his alternative teaching certification in Manatee County, Florida and was hired to start a new middle school business program at a Title I school in his area. Within two years, they had the most successful industry certification program of all the middle schools in central Florida. He now works in Tennessee, working in a high school as well as managing the school's FBLA chapter. He strives each day to help his students break industry certification records in their county and region.  Aaron shares his thoughts on student engagement, or lack thereof, as well as how he gets students excited to learn. We dive deeper into his classroom approach, and how he uses relationships to help students see the value in his course, their futures, and industry certification.  If you feel like your students are lagging, or just want to infuse a little excitement into your everyday, Aaron's here to help.  Get additional ideas for student engagement here: https://certiport.pearsonvue.com/Blog/2024/November/How-to-spark-motivation-in-your-students.  Looking for more inspiration? Join Kosta and his guest: Cyril Focht, 2024 House of Representatives Candidate for Tennessee's 6th District .In this episode: There are currently 3 candidates for the Democratic Primary of this seat including you, Lore Bergman and Clay Faircloth. Of the three, you're the only candidate to raise campaign contributions with just under $55,000.00. Besides your ability to financially sustain this campaign, why do you believe you'll be selected as the nominee on August 1st? Let's talk specifically about the office you're running for - Tennessee's 6th Congressional District. This position is currently held by John Rose and has been since 2019. This seat is up for reelection every 2 years and the 6th district spans from Crossville to East Nashville. How did the prospect of holding this particular office speak to you? As a country, we are more divided than ever on the social issues that impact our everyday life. From public schools, border policy, climate, healthcare - I can go on all day, but I won't. The one thing we can usually agree on is there is too much money going into Washington. Americans are failing while corporations and the top 1% gain more wealth and power. What is your plan to work against this system for Tennesseeans?Find out more about Cyril Focht:https://vote4focht.us/Better Together with Kosta Yepifantsev is a product of Morgan Franklin Media and recorded in Cookeville, TN.This episode of Better Together with Kosta Yepifantsev is made possible by our partners at Aspire Barber and Beauty Academy. The 6th annual KCBS World Invitational was held over Memorial Day Weekend in Lebanon, Tenn., and on Episode 262 of the Tailgate Guys BBQ Podcast we talk it over with both of the big winners. Drew Davis of Razorracks BBQ out of Pleasant Plains, Ark., has won 28 KCBS Grand Championships during his career. But Drew and wife Chelsey picked up their biggest title when Razorracks scored a 708.548 to top the 81-team World Invitational. Razorracks also was a solid third in the Open the day before and Drew discusses the weekend, what it's like being a “canopy cooker” dealing with the elements and how he chooses whether to use his Jambo or Gateway Drum Smokers (he wins on both) on a given weekend. We also talk it over with the Grand Champion from the World Open, Brad Cox of Local Yokels BBQ from Crossville, Ill. Like Razorracks, Local Yokels is a family team with Brad's wife, Jocelyn, and their two daughters. Local Yokels had a near-flawless cook, scoring 709.72 to lead a 118-team field in the Open. It was the seventh GC in just 65 career KCBS comps and Brad gives a rundown of how they got started in competition BBQ and some keys to his success. Co-host Steve Koehler kicks off the show with a review a recent trip he and wife Donna took to Texas, where they made a tour of some popular BBQ joints - including the world-famous Franklin's in Austin. Steve said it did not disappoint. All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: TOM WAGES   STORY 1: Police arrest Romanian organized crime member tied to cell phone thefts In a decisive crackdown on organized crime, authorities have apprehended Marius (Mar-ee-us) Vasile (Vah-see-leh), someone with ties to a Romanian criminal syndicate, for his involvement in a spate of cellphone thefts. This arrest comes in the wake of related incidents at an AT&T store in Duluth and a thwarted attempt in Hall County, Georgia, highlighting a broader pattern of criminal activity spanning metro Atlanta, Athens, South Georgia, and Crossville, Tennessee. Currently held in Hall County Jail facing numerous charges, Vasile's arrest marks a significant step forward in the investigation, while his accomplice, Maria Antonescu (Un-toh-ness-koo), remains at large. The pair are alleged to have utilized specialized equipment to extract cellphones from store displays, indicating a calculated approach to targeting telecommunications retailers. Supported by AT&T and a coalition of law enforcement bodies, the ongoing inquiry aims to thoroughly dismantle this criminal network. Officials call on the public to aid in this effort by providing any relevant information to Oakwood Police, reinforcing the commitment to safeguarding against the exploitation of technological vulnerabilities. STORY 2: Piedmont Eastside Celebrates First Cohort of McClure Health Sciences Interns Piedmont Eastside has partnered with McClure Health Sciences High School to launch an internship program for 10 chosen junior and senior students. This six-week program provides interns with comprehensive, hands-on experience in various hospital departments, including medical surgical floors, laboratories, emergency departments, and Health Information Management. The interns receive extensive training in critical medical procedures, supporting the clinical staff effectively. Exclusive to McClure students, this initiative aims to seamlessly integrate academic knowledge with practical skills in a genuine healthcare setting. Liz Jackson of Piedmont Eastside and Nicole Mosley of McClure have both highlighted the program's significant impact on preparing students for careers in healthcare. Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate recognizing their dedication and contributions to the healthcare sector. Further details about this pioneering program can be found at www.piedmont.org. STORY 3: Mitsubishi Electric Classic Announces Partnership With Folds of Honor The Mitsubishi Electric Classic, a prestigious event on the PGA Tour Champions calendar set for April 22-28 at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, extends its impact beyond the realm of golf through a partnership with Folds of Honor. This collaboration is dedicated to funding at least 15 educational scholarships for the families of fallen or disabled military members and first responders in Atlanta, encompassing a range from K-12 to postgraduate studies. To date, Folds of Honor has distributed over 4,000 scholarships totaling $18.5 million within Georgia. The tournament will feature a special "Fields of Honor Friday" to pay tribute to military and first responders, with complimentary tickets available for those verified service members, veterans, and first responders. Leaders from both organizations have expressed their appreciation for this meaningful partnership. For sponsorship opportunities or further information, interested parties are encouraged to contact info@mitsubishielectricclassic.com. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We'll be right back. Break 2: INGLES 9 STORY 4: Colliers seeking tenants for Sugarloaf I Office Building In Duluth Colliers International is actively seeking tenants for the Sugarloaf 1 building, offering over 90,000 square feet of office space in unincorporated Duluth. Located within The Simpson Organization's campus, this prime office space targets small to mid-size businesses for build-out opportunities. Strategically situated near the Gas South District and the entrance to TPC Sugarloaf, the property combines convenience with prestige. The leasing efforts are led by Colliers Atlanta's Senior Vice President, Deming Fish, and Vice President, Emily Richardson, who are committed to matching companies with an ideal workspace solution. STORY 5: Gwinnett Commissioners OK tennis center land sale that clears way for Costco-anchored development Gwinnett County officials have finalized the sale of the once-idle Stone Mountain Olympic Tennis Center to Fuqua Acquisitions II for $5.6 million. This transaction sets the stage for a $158 million redevelopment effort. The future mixed-use development is anticipated to feature a warehouse retailer, with Costco being a potential anchor, in addition to dining establishments and multifamily housing units, some of which will be designated as affordable. Planned enhancements include improvements to local transit and transportation infrastructure, as well as the introduction of greenspace. The initiative is expected to create 400 construction-related jobs and 520 positions in retail and dining services. This redevelopment is poised to deliver substantial economic and social benefits, marking a pivotal moment of transformation for the community.   We'll be back in a moment.   Break 3: HENRY CO SHERIFFS   STORY 6: LEAH MCGRATH And now here is my conversation with Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on raw milk's health benefits.   STORY 7: LEAH MCGRATH ***LEAH MCGRATH INERVIEW***   We'll have final thoughts after this.   Break 4: ATL HEALTH FAIR Signoff – Thanks again for hanging out with us on today's Gwinnett Daily Post podcast. Jesse Tattooing Rabbits You probably know this already, but I thought I would share my experience tattooing rabbits. If you can get tattoo paste (black is best, in my opinion) that works so much better than other options So here is what did:  -clean left ear -use a towel over the head (to prevent bites/scratches)...a lot easier with two people..but otherwise, hold in your arm with rabbit head in your elbow -Clamp -wipe any blood -smear and press tattoo paste into the holes  -wipe off excess with a slightly damp cloth, check to make sure color in every hole With characters-we would put the number of the year as last character (so 2024, 4 at the end), and first digit of which doe it came from (so, doe "Aphrodite," all her descendents started with A)  And I'd HIGHLY recommend starting pedigree so you can avoid too much incest . The does will become too dumb to take care of babies, or become vicious, or do other dumb things.  Hope this helps! A Note from Missy Hi, my name is Missy. I am the Special Needs Director at Cumberland Fellowship in Crossville, TN. This was not a job I ever imagined having, but God had other plans. My husband, Jason, and I have been married for 26 years and we have 3 children. Jacob (17)  has autism, is non-verbal and deaf, and has a list of medical issues, but has also given us more than joy than we ever thought possible. Braden (15) is your typical sports kid and an awesome big 'younger' brother as he has always called it. Our youngest is Addi (11). She is our sweet, sensitive, artsy child. All three children keep us on our toes and love being a part of this ministry. Jacob attends all our events and classes, while Braden and Addi love volunteering. This is definitely a family affair. We started the ministry in Oct 2021 with just the children's ministry side and now we have an adult Monday night service plus an adult Tuesday day program. Our goal is to minister to each individual at their level of understanding. The motto that my volunteers love the most is "see the able not the label."  We try to live this everyday with each person we come in contact within this ministry. Jared Moore is the Pastor of Homesteads Baptist in Crossville, TN. In his recent book, “Lust of the Flesh,” Jared examines current movements within the American evangelical church related to sexuality. Jared takes to task various proponents of same-sex attraction within the church. He also looks to church history to give weight to this important matter. My endorsement of Jared's book: “In this accessible volume, Dr. Moore has done a tremendous work for the church today. The issue of sinful desires and lust is a fierce battleground for Christians, and many are harmed by bad teaching on these matters. Dr. Moore's contribution to the church is certain to build her up to think clearly on such crucial topics. Christians and pastors will benefit greatly from the clear biblical and theological thinking found within."Support the show!! - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisJared on X - https://twitter.com/jaredhmooreBuy “Lust of the Flesh” - https://amzn.to/3QTwM5rBuy “Lust of the Flesh” - https://freegracepress.com/collections/new-releases/products/the-lust-of-the-fleshSupport the showSign up for the Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisFollow Full Proof Theology on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/fullprooftheology/Follow Full Proof Theology on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/fullprooftheology/

Perhaps best known as the host of the state's longest-running high school football scoreboard show on the radio station WQSB in Albertville, Allen graduated from Crossville High School in 1975 and the University of Alabama in 1979 with a degree in broadcast and film communications. Allen began his career doing play-by-play for Alabama women's basketball and selected Alabama baseball games. He has served as the color commentator for Albertville High School football and other area teams and was on the broadcast in 1986 for Crossville's state championship football game and the girls state basketball win in 2008.  The WQSB High School Football Scoreboard has been airing for 31 seasons with Allen at the helm.Nikki McCray-Penson Nikki McCray-Penson, who helped lead the famed 1996 Olympic team that started the United States' current run of seven consecutive gold medals, has died at the age of 51, it was announced Friday.McCray-Penson starred for the Lady Vols in the 1990s in her native state of Tennessee before playing in the ABL and WNBA and later becoming a college basketball head coach. She served as an assistant women's basketball coach last season for Rutgers, which confirmed her death. The cause of death has not been announced. McCray-Penson and her husband, Thomas Penson, have a son, Thomas Jr., who turned 10 in February.McCray-Penson was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2013, during her tenure with South Carolina, where she was an assistant to her close friend and Olympic teammate Dawn Staley. She was part of Staley's staff as the Gamecocks won the 2017 NCAA championship. Soon after, she took her first head-coaching job, with Old Dominion."Thank you my little sister, my friend, my foxhole partner, my teammate, my fast food snacker, my basketball junkie, my fellow Olympian, my gold medalist and now my angel," Staley posted to Twitter along with a statement. "... Suffer no more Nik Nik."In all, including last season at Rutgers, McCray-Penson had 16 years of college coaching experience, serving as head coach at Mississippi State and ODU. After consecutive 20-win seasons, she left the Monarchs to take over the Bulldogs, who went 10-9 during the COVID-19-impacted 2020-2021 season. In October 2021, before the start of what would have been her second season at MSU, she stepped down to focus on her health."Heart hurts like crazy over this one," two-time WNBA MVP and Las Vegas Aces standout A'ja Wilson, star of South Carolina's 2017 title team, wrote on Twitter. "Such a fighter and a warrior with the sweetest gentle soul! Coach McCray you've helped me in many, many ways and you were a true gift from God! Truly will be missed! No more suffering, no more pain! God got a good one."She returned to coaching this past season, becoming an assistant to Coquese Washington at Rutgers."Nikki had a big smile and an even bigger heart," Washington said in a statement provided by Rutgers. "She was full of life, energy, and was so much fun to be around. Nikki touched the lives of many because she made it her mission to uplift others and help them achieve whatever dreams and goals they expressed. She was so devoted to her husband and son, and still gave all of herself to everyone in the program. We will miss her dearly but will keep Nikki's memory alive in our hearts."A native of Collierville, Tennessee, McCray-Penson helped the Lady Vols win three SEC regular-season championships and two SEC tournament titles. They also made a women's Final Four appearance in 1995, when Tennessee fell in the championship game to Connecticut."Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of a beloved Lady Vol," Tennessee coach Kellie Harper said in a statement. "We also offer our love and sincere condolences to her family, friends and colleagues across the country. Nikki had a bright and loving personality and touched the lives of everyone she met. Her kind and genuine spirit will be missed."After college, McCray-Penson was named to the U.S. national team, which trained and toured together from fall 1995 until the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta. That U.S. team's popularity and success was seen as the springboard to the launch of the WNBA in 1997, and was chronicled in the ESPN 30 for 30 special "Dream On," which was released last year."Our hearts are heavy as we learn of the passing of Nikki McCray-Penson," the WNBA said in a statement. "... Our thoughts and prayers are with Nikki's family and loved ones at this time."McCray-Penson was a three-time All-Star during her nine years in the WNBA and won gold medals with Team USA in the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics.McCray-Penson also led the Columbus Quest to the 1997 ABL championship, as she played in that league before moving to the WNBA. She was the ABL's MVP in 1997.McCray-Penson was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.
