From the Dead End Kids to the East Side Kids to "The Bowery Boys," this week Steve interviews journalist and film historian Craig Edwards about the history of Slip, Satch and the rest of those wacky Bowery Boys whose 48 films form one helluva comedy legacy.
It was a thrilling Phoenix Open finish where the classy Canadian Nick Taylor birdied 5 of the last 6 holes to beat the wirey old veteran Charley Hoffman who played exceptionally for the last 36 holes out of nowhere but it was Taylor that made a clutch birdie on the 2nd play off hole to beat Hoffman to win his 4th PGA Tour title now & his 3rd in the last 4 years since Pebble Beach. On the DP World Tour it was a maiden victory for the talented Japanese player Rikuya Hoshino who became the 4th Japanese player to win on the the European Tour winning at the ever tricky Doha Golf Club for the Qatar Masters a fitting testiment to how good a spot Japanese Golf is in right now! This week on the PGA Tour we move to a staple on the tour at the classic Riviera CC in LA for the Genesis Invitational an event that's had many a dramatic finish from Max Homa's home win to Adam Scott's 2nd win here to name a couple. In this Signature event with the return of Tiger Woods making the headlines it should be an interesting event where myself & Craig Edwards go through who we fancy with a consensus pick with a current major winner to enjoy! Listen & Download on Podbean, Spotify & Apple
In the first tournament preview show of this year on Chasing Pars Golf Podcast in association with Golf Tips Checker Craig & Craig Edwards are back to preview this week's events on the PGA Tour & DP World Tour with Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines tomorrow at time of recording where Craig had the 1-2 last year with Max Homa winning at 25/1 & Keegan Bradley finishing 2nd while Edwards also hd Max Homa win last year and has had likes of Jason Day win for him before. With a run of 200/1, 400/1 & 350/1 winners in the first 3 events we are pretty certain that will come to an end this week with a high class winner this event usually throws up and with 3 strong picks each we reckon we should have a chance! On the DP World Tour we stay in UAE for a 3rd week as we are at Ras al Khaimah Champs at the Peter Herredine designed Al Hamra GC where we recap last year's dramatic win of Daniel Gavins who not only put it in the water twice at 18 on the Sunday to double bogey but made a 25 foot putt to win it beating Alexander Bjork. We reckon this should be another birdie fest but we are both keen on 2 players the same and a disrespectful price of 50/1 ok a 9 time European Tour winner. Join us as we get the Tournament Previews back up and we discuss the historic feat of Alabama Sophomore & 2023 US Amateur Champion Nick Dunlap who became the first amateur since Phil Mickelson in 1991 to win on the PGA Tour with a great performance at The American Express while Rory won for the 4th time at Dubai Desert Classic beating the well backed Adrian Meronk by a shot. #BettingPeople: Craig Edwards became a snooker professional at the age of 19 and was rated in the Top 64 in the world. At that time he played alongside all the greats from the 1980s and was only narrowly beaten 5-4 by Steve Davis after leading 4-3 in a major. He now bets successfully on golf and snooker, also running a tipping service that has proven very profitable. In this interview, he talks about his snooker career and his strategy on betting.
Episode 50's podcast guest is Craig Edwards, a former professional snooker player turned winning punter and someone with a very clear edge over the bookmaker.Growing up playing in snooker halls where betting was never far from discussion, Craig developed a keen interest in punting and was able to carve out a good profit for himself betting after he retired from professional sport. With a unique understanding of some of the psychological challenges of elite sport, plus the right approach and attitude to seeking out betting value, Craig has been the scourge of many a bookmaker, especially on his 2 chosen sports - snooker and golf. This was proven when employees from one major bookmaking firm joined his tipster service, in order to get priority access and to slash their own odds on the tips he put forward and takes himself. That is just one story Craig shares in today's episode, alongside more on his edge in the betting markets, why he often works backwards in order to find value and the huge amount of research he puts in.Craig's tipster service was also the focus of a recent detailed SBC review, which we also discuss in this interview, alongside the discounts available for SBC members, where up to 20% can be saved on the cost of a subscription to his service.Discover More:Learn more on the Smart Betting Club and how we help winning bettors at https://smartbettingclub.com/ Find Craig on Twitter @EdwardsTips_Edwards Tips: https://edwards-tips.co.uk/Podcast feedback - contact SBC on twitter @sbcinfoRead more about each SBC Podcast episode: https://smartbettingclub.com/the-smart-betting-club-podcast/

"The Good Listening To" Podcast with me Chris Grimes! (aka a "GLT with me CG!")
Comedy Double Act Beauties Howard Coggins & Stu McLouglin from "Living Spit" Musical Theatre Company, here to "dissect their frog" on their wonderful anarchic comedy method and madness! The warmth between the 2 is palpable and their comedy magic together a work of collective comedy genius. Howard & Stu work with a creative crack team of 5 to generate their magic together and are based in Clevedon at their home venue (which is also delightfully their "Clearing") which they also co-founded, "The Clevedon Theatre Shop" This is their story on what has shaped them in the crafting of their impressive canon of 17 hilarious comedy musical theatre Shows to date as "Living Spit". "Living Spit" so called because Howard is - as Stu discovered much to his delight on a day trip to Hever Castle - a "Living Spit" of Henry V111. Stu got straight on the phone to Howard - and the rest - as they say, is comedy history!Enjoy!More about Living Spit:Introducing an extraordinary couple of colourful characters from the West Country, the frontmen of their own theatre company, called mysteriously “Living Spit'. Not so mysterious when you learn that Stu saw a picture of Henry VIII at Hever Castle, which struck him as the spitting image of his friend, Howard. On the strength of this striking physical similarity, the two friends decided to create their own lighthearted musical comedy about Henry and his various wives. Howard was a shoe-in for Henry. Stu was happy to play the wives. Musicians in their teens, actors in their twenties, the two thespians created Living Spit - as if inspired by the Bob Dylan song ‘Don't think twice, it's alright.' Now their company has 5 key people, including their own ‘third man', producer / director Craig Edwards. Over ten years later, Living Spit has over 17 different original comedies to its credit and two or three more live ideas in the pipeline. These days the shows are more comedy than history. They always involve original music. The founders are now related by marriage, but not to each other. Brothers-in-law, they happily share family occasions as well as gruelling professional tours. In the pandemic, they played on camera- or rather six cameras - to an empty house at the Bristol Old Vic. This was a breeze compared with one unhappy night in Runcorn - so disappointing that they vowed never to return. And they never have. Instead, Howard and Stuart do their own thing, in their own way, then turn to Craig to help them make it work. Allowing a mere three weeks for rehearsals, they're ready to go public with it. The audience is the only thing that matters to Living Spit: their laughter, their delight, their satisfaction. Our heroes are happy to be the best in the West. They don't need to prove they're the best in the world - even though they may be. They certainly have a better work/life balance than most people in show business. It's time to meet the original founders of Living Spit. Listen, it will certainly raise a smile or two. Listen, you might learn something!Reg Starkey - Editor UK Health Triangle Magazine

Yes, those dreaded St. Louis Cardinals. In the first segment, I briefly recapped the action of the weekend for the Cubs before introducing my guest for the final two segments, Craig Edwards of FanGraphs. Craig and I chatted a bit about the Cardinals, their pitching staff, and some of the questions that remain. Like, why didn't they go sign a starting pitcher? Will their bullpen be good enough? In the final segment, I tossed some tough over/under numbers at Craig and put him on the spot to predict the win totals for all five NL Central teams. Sorry about any audio quality differences on this one, I recorded the segments differently. For next time, I'll try to keep it uniform! Thanks for listening, as always.
