Unashamed, Undeserved, Unstoppable Part 1: The Good News By Louie Marsh, 4-27-2025 Four quotes about the book of Romans, 10 Little Known Facts About Ancient Rome 1. Gladiator blood was recommended by Roman physicians to aid various ailments, including epilepsy and infertility. 2. Purple clothing was a status symbol and reserved only for emperors or senators. To achieve the color, a dye was made from murex seashells. It was treason for anyone other than the emperor to dress completely in purple. 3. Left-handed people were considered unlucky. The word “sinister” was originally the Latin adjective “sinister”/”sinistra”/”sinistrum” that meant “left” but took on the meanings of “evil” or “unlucky” by the Classical Latin era. 4. Emperor Caligula often appeared in public dressed in women's clothing. 5. In the first century B.C., the poet Gaius Valerius Catullus addressed two of his critics, another poet Furius and a senator Aurelius, in a poem considered so vulgar and obscene that it was not translated outside of Latin until the 20th century. 6. Romans thought the early Christians were practicing cannibalism when they heard about them eating bread and wine as symbolic representations of the body and blood of Christ. 7. People would socialize at communal toilets. Rome had over 140 public toilets. Video slide 8. While Romans were extremely hygienic, they did not use soap. Instead, to get clean they would apply perfumed oils to their skin and then scrape it off with a tool known as a strigil. 9. Not everyone wore togas. Only free-born Roman men were allowed to wear togas (as a sign of Roman citizenship), while Roman women wore stolas. 10. Urine (because of the ammonia it contains) was used to clean clothes. The urine was collected by fullones (the Ancient Roman version of dry cleaners) from around the city. 1) Why is the Gospel so important? · The Gospel comes from GOD 1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, Romans 1:1 (ESV) · The Gospel is proved by SCRIPTURE 2 which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, Romans 1:2 (ESV) · The Gospel's Substance is JESUS CHRIST 3 concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh 4 and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, Romans 1:3-4 (ESV) · The Gospel's purpose is OBEDIENCE BY FAITH. 5 through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith , Romans 1:5a (ESV) · The Gospel's scope is all NATIONS 5 the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, Romans 1:5b (ESV) · The Gospel's goal is to BELONG to Jesus 6 including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ, Romans 1:6 (ESV) Slide: Summary: The good news of the Gospel is OF God, ABOUT Christ, ACCORDING to the Scriptures, FOR the nations, UNTO obedience of faith, FOR THE SAKE of the Name! 2) The Gospel Builds STRONG relationships. 8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world. 9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I mention you 10 always in my prayers, asking that somehow by God's will I may now at last succeed in coming to you. 11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— 12 that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine. 13 I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as well as among the rest of the Gentiles. Romans 1:8-13 (ESV) 3) The Gospel is a DEBT I owe the world 14 I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome. Romans 1:14-15 (ESV) Two ways to be in debt – borrow from you, or carry money to you from another person. That's our kind of debt. 16 For if I preach the gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! 1 Corinthians 9:16 (ESV) 4) The Gospel Reveals GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17 (ESV) · You get right with God by FAITH in Jesus Christ. Some stress God's righteousness is a divine attribute or quality. Others stress God's righteousness is a divine activity, his saving intervention on our behalf. Others say it's a divine achievement. It's what God has done for us in Christ. I say, yes to all that – it's all three. Therefore… Summary: The righteousness of God is God's righteous initiative in putting sinners right with himself by bestowing on them a righteousness which is not their own but his. The righteousness of God is God's just justification of the unjust, his righteous way of pronouncing the unrighteous righteous, in which he both demonstrates his righteousness and give righteousness to us. All done in and thru Jesus Christ. · The entire Christian life is lived BY FAITH.

Pastor Rich's message "For The Sake of The Gospel", is packed with powerful insights. In this passage, Paul is arrested for preaching the gospel in Jerusalem and taken before the Roman rulers. Though Paul is met with hostility and violence, he courageously stands up for what he believes in. Pastor Rich masterfully unpacks this passage and shares how Paul's unwavering faith in the face of persecution is a powerful reminder for all Christians to remain faithful no matter what. He also emphasizes the importance of standing up for our beliefs, even if it means facing opposition. This powerful message motivates us to keep spreading the good news of Jesus Christ, no matter what obstacles we may encounter along the way. With the Lord's help, we can gain a better understanding of this passage and be inspired to follow Paul's example of faithfulness.
“For The Sake of His Name” – “Let man take charge and he will mess it up.” – Ezekiel 36:20- 26 The Lord's Concern for His Holy Name. God will put His Spirit within us. – God can do what He wants anytime because He sees the heart. - Do we long for God or just want him to fix the problem? - We gather to pray because we want things to change. – Transforming Prayer: * Pray with specificity * Pray with an urgent time frame * Expect results - We need to give God our undivided attention.

Get it right and you can SOAR!! Join me and my guests Mali Phonpadith and Marissa Levin, CEOs of SOAR Community Network and Successful Culture International, as we explore the magic created when a successful merger occurs. In their words, "This is a marriage of two organizations that are aligned in purpose, values, and culture who share a passion for raising the consciousness of leaders and organizations so that all employees feel seen, heard, supported, valued, and aligned with a company's values and mission. Our work in diversity, equity & inclusion, and our flagship SCALE Academy, perfectly align with the comprehensive suite of solutions that SOAR brings to the market. The integration of our programs positions SOAR to be a global leader in corporate culture, DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging), conscious leadership, and ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiatives across government, private, and nonprofit sectors.” . Mali and Marissa recognized the “business case” for the merger AND also recognized that successful mergers are exceedingly rare. What was the difference that has made the difference? 458 For The Sake of My Holy Name, A Guided Christian Meditation on Ezekiel 36:22-25 with the Recenter With Christ app I'm Chaplain Jared and I work as a hospice chaplain and an ICU chaplain. My purpose in making this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and to be more open for your heart to be changed by the Spirit of God. By using centuries old form of Christian Meditation named Lectio Divina: Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes. Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Bible verses for Meditation: Ezekiel 36 NIV 22 “Therefore say to the Israelites, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: It is not for your sake, people of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone. 23 I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Sovereign Lord, when I am proved holy through you before their eyes. 24 “‘For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land. 25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. NRSVA 22 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations to which you came. 23 I will sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord, says the Lord God, when through you I display my holiness before their eyes. 24 I will take you from the nations, and gather you from all the countries, and bring you into your own land. 25 I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. Meditation: Many times when we hear of the great acts that God has done for us we hear that God did them for us. We hear powerful professions of the Love of God. The inriquit and eternal plan he has made. We know of his intentions to save us before the foundations of the Earth we laid. He sent his Son to die for us because he loved us. These are powerful ideas. They are rooted in the truth of the gospel. God loves us. This is undeniably true. We love him because he first loved us, a scripture says in 1 John 4:19. Yet in our comfortable moments when we are overconfident of our own goodness we can be tempted to think that this is the only way it could be. The world tells us we deserve a life filled with happiness and ease, free of guilt regardless of what we do. Yet this misses a much more profound truth. God loves us, first because who God is, and in some ways, in spite of what we have been. This is far from a demeaning idea. It shows us our true value is not an argument of the situation of our birth, our past, the temptations that come into our hearts. Our value is determined by God. In the end of Ezekiel we read of prophecies where God will redeem Israel, for His Name's sake. It is because God's name is so valuable that we are able to be cleansed with God's water poured upon us. We can be cleaned from all our idols by Him. Yours and my salvation are therefore a matter of much more firm stuff than our own transitory identity. It is founded in the Name of God. In this moment invite Jesus Christ to guide your heart and be your savior. For the sake of His holy name he will cleanse you. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Updates: Final Question: How can you live consistent with the cleansing power God offers you? This week I performed a funeral for a family from Africa. The amount of family that was physically present was not that large but there were many friends who were just as close as family in some ways and their presence and comfort was amazing. Thomas Sametin est réalisateur. Son dernier film "For The Sake of Peace" a été présenté au festival de Cannes, il y a quelques semaines. Il nous emmène dans un pays passé complètement sous les radars médiatiques : le Soudan du Sud. Indépendant depuis 2011, c'est l'un des plus jeunes et des plus violents pays du monde. Pourtant, ce documentaire fait le pari de la vertu et de la lumière, celui de la paix.

This is from the sermon series For The Sake of The Gospel.
In the series launch of For The Sake of Others we learn the motivation for living as a blessing to other people. Everything that God does in you and for you is meant to flow through you. This is displayed for us in the life of Jesus. In this teaching we look at three statements from Jesus for why he came to earth. Various Scriptures
This is part of the sermon series "For The Sake of The Gospel."
Have you ever been driven by something to the point that you would do anything for it to be fulfilled? That you would even give your life for it? When everyone makes that choice to follow after God you are giving up everything "For The Sake of the Gospel." The cause becomes greater than any other pursuits. Instead of being driven by the things of this world, you pursue after God to see His Kingdom fulfilled on this earth. You have been bought into a new life, a new pursuit. His will becomes yours.

For The Sake of My Brothers (Romans 9:1-5)Message: Ted HallDate: February 16, 2020 I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit— that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh. They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh,Read More → The post For The Sake of My Brothers (Romans 9:1-5) appeared first on New Life Medina.

Melissa K. Woodward - Sex trafficking survivor, For The Sake of One founder and executive director and spokesperson for National Child ID Program. To prevent, rescue and bring freedom and healing to underage children of Domestic Sex Trafficking. Their Vision : For the Sake of One reaches out to girls and boys ages 11-17 who have been victims of Domestic Sex Trafficking to ignite, confidence, courage and inner strength within them as we provide the love, protection and guidance these children so desperately need and deserve in order to heal from the injustice and unspeakable abuse they have endured. Their Philosophy : FSO believes all children are a gift from God and each has been created with a unique purpose. With love and service, we know these children can succeed and lead productive lives. Sex trafficking is a global concern and we applaud the organizations who’s focus is to aid all children. Although we are painfully aware of the global problem, there is also a substantial and immediate need in America for services and supportive housing. By no means do we seek to diminish the need for a global response; however, our primary focus is the child victim found within the boarders of the United States. Do you have a business or are a rising artist looking for some exposure. Well you came to the right spot... OP2 Talk would love to interview you on the show. We would enjoy letting the world know what you do and how you do it. If you are interested then email Naoma Doriguzzi and we will set you up with a date and time.
