This weeks guest is Luca Lorenzoni. Luca has had a really interesting career path, starting out with Ab inBev (the big guys) before becoming managing director at Camden then CEO of Northern Monk. For me, it's Such a fascinating trajectory because Luca learned/got all of the tools from a big corporate entity before moving into a more independent & craft beer market. He wrote four really interesting (and I encourage you to read) articles that talk about the essence of what it is to be a ‘craft brewery' and how to find a path forward. Heavy Emphasis on the Path bit there as that's then name of Lucas new consultancy, where he helps smaller starter brands move towards there goals I loved this conversation, and hopefully there's a lot for you guys to take away from it it Enjoy! Todays guest, we have Mathew Dick. Co founder and once brewer of Boundary Brewing Cooperative, based in Belfast Northern Ireland. I've known Matt a while now, and have always wanted to get him on the show. Little did I know just how fascinating and testing Matts journeys has been. Notice the cooperative part in the brewery title, something very close to the city that we reside in here in Manchester and defined as:“An association of persons united to meet their common needs and aspirations through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise”What a wonderful but also incredibly challenging concept to build a brewery from. Matt was such a great guest, candid and clear in the realities of what it's taken to get to this point and the dramatic situations he's found himself in.Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. We are back with a new Season of The Thirst Time, the show that takes a deep dive into the careers and journeys of some of the most creative minds in the craft beer industry. Todays guest, we have, Jeff Cozzens, co founder and owner of Schilling Beer. Schilling are a brewery based out of a picturesque brewhouse and taproom, sat right on the river in the little mountain town of Littleton, New Hampshire. With a focus on European styles, and a deep love of all things Lager. Something that I/we also have a deep love for. It was so cool to be able to sit down with Jeff and have this conversation face to face. Jeff and Zac came over especially to brew a collaboration with us, a Dunkel none the less. I'd met Zac way back at Friends Family & Beer when he was working at Trillium. We'd kept in touch and when I saw the amazing work he and the crew at Schilling were doing, I reached out to see if they wanted to brew something up together. They said yes, but if we're brewing we're coming! So we had the honour to host them here and show them a little bit of Manchesters beer scene.Enjoy and as ever... Stay Thirsty Hosted on Acast. Hey Folks,So… A little bonus episode. Maybe something a little different to the usual content, But, this issue, goes deeper and the hope is that we can use it as a stepping stone to create a more vibrant, positive, inclusive and warm beer scene. Which for us a brewery, is exactly what it's all about. Breathing conversations is a project launched by our friends at Finback, that’s using beer as a platform to push forward the difficult conversations surrounding race, injustice and equality. Not only have they launched this as a global collaboration, they’ve also (and I’ll quote them here) Pledged $10,000 to found BeyondBeer, a planned not-for-profit organisation with themission of engaging people of colour and the brewing industry at large to work on issues ofdiversity and inclusivity for the long term.We hooked up with Anthony Totten to talk about the whole project and a lot more See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
